  1. Regarding DD2, the saving system seems to be (not going to get it, so comparing to the experience) the same as in DDDA - one save file per PC/account. As mentioned, can be easily bypassed with Windows Explorer and creating your whole party can be done with Steam Family Sharing (but one would have to go online with each account to upload and download the AI companions). Though, it is really inconvenient that the game lacks such a basic thing as manual saving with several characters. I suppose, it is tied to the online system, which, unlike saving, is a gimmick. Regarding MTX in Capcom games, I can remember the MTX being in their games for quite some time. They definitely were added post-release to DMCV and were present in Monster Hunter (which I refunded). --- https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/no-more-heroes-and-resident-evil-devs-cult-shooter-shadows-of-the-damned-finally-gets-a-pc-release-this-year https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/if-working-overtime-on-aaa-games-with-giant-budgets-is-the-only-way-to-succeed-then-maybe-the-industry-deserves-to-die-says-rpg-veteran-david-gaider-there-is-another-way-to-be I definitely would not object to lower system requirements, no DRM, and no MTX.

  3. That's not entirely true. In order to change your appearance or that of your main pawn you need an item called the Art of Metamorphosis and you need to visit a barber. While you can buy the Art of Metamorphosis for real money, I don't know why you would when you can also get the item in the game with in-game currency. RC is the currency you use to summon pawns but it's also used in shops, mostly for items related to the pawn system. 500 RC is no problem to get, you won't need to do much grinding, if any. This vendor that sells the Art of Metamorphosis is next to a rift stone in a city. I don't know how many other vendors sell the item.

  4. Dragon's Dogma 2 That was dishonest and downright shameful of Capcom to have the online shop conspicuous in its absence in review copies only to release the game with an online shop. They are not the first to do so, I'm sure they won't be the last, but it needs to be called out when it happens, that's for sure. I'm not a lawyer so I have no idea if there's any sort of legal recourse that can be taken, but from a moral standpoint that's blatant purposeful dishonesty and should be punishable in some way. Anyway, controversy aside, the game is a freakin' blast so far. The combat is great and the pawns have some of the best companion AI I have ever seen. You have 4 commands you can issue them: Go, wait, to me, and help. The pawns have personalities, albeit ones that fall neatly into a small number of categories, and thus they will respond differently to your commands, so the first thing you should do after hiring pawns is to learn how they react. They'll point stuff out to you "look, a treasure chest, we should figure out how to get up there", they'll lead you to locations if they know where it is, it's a really great system. I just started so I obviously can't tell you yet whether the game is purposely made to entice players to buy items with real money. I mean, you don't put in a monetization system without also taking steps to steer the player toward said monetization system. Time will tell how pressured I wind up feeling to spend money in the online shop (I won't), I'll report back once I'm much deeper into the game.

  6. Dragon's Dogma 2 is ****ING AWESOME. The combat feels so good; it's chaotic, visceral, has great feedback, plus nothing says badass like climbing up the back of a cyclops and stabbing it in the neck while it's trying to fling you off and a mage is blasting it with fire. Then to top it off, after a thrilling 10 minute long battle with a cyclops your pawns will high five or fist bump you, it's the best. I also like that there are climbing and platforming puzzles to get to hidden treasure chests, those are fun. For anyone picking this game up, keep in mind that this game has timed quests. Not all of them, mind you, but there are timed quests. It's pretty obvious which quests are timed. For example, if a guard tells you that one of the rookies is out on patrol and they just got word of harpy activity in that area but he can't abandon his post to aid the rookie and you accept going to find the rookie and helping him out, if you instead go do something else for half the day you may find a dead body when you finally find the rookie. It's probably not a good idea to just pick up every single quest in a town all at once, that's a recipe for failing some of them.

  10. I finished FC5 after 50 hours and you were right in the sense my issue with Resistance Points was about a mod I loaded, it wasnt a bad design. I was able to clear Map 3 by mostly completing quests and I did very little grinding But overall the game gets a 53/100 on the globally endorsed " BruceVC game rating system ", many people may be surprised by its low score but anything over 50 is still fun and has some worthwhile mechanics ...its just not a great game and there is lots of repetition. But one distinctive positive is the music, its evocative. They selected really applicable background music for the main parts of the game Before I uninstall it I decided to play a DLC called Hours of Darkness which is set in Vietnam and its great fun I am now also playing Hogwarts, early days and I am just on the first classes in the Academy but I can tell its going to be good experiences and I do enjoy the lore that exists in the Harry Potter universe I have loaded some recommended mods and Im looking forward to my Hogwarts journey

  13. Regarding the Belgorod incident, Russia in order to take out “insurgents” completely annihilated Russian village/town of Kozinka. It looks like, their army uses scorched earth tactics as only viable tactics, even while “defending” at home There are videos available from the village, if you want to see it, not gonna link them here, as they might breach the forum guidelines. and as soon as Putin has been “elected” things started to move at hypersonic speed in Russia, and most of the big western media has either missed it or ignores it, and it pretty much makes sense now, why Macron has be so adamant about western troops in Ukraine. Shoigu announced the creation of two more armies in Russia, along with 16 brigades and 14 divisions. If successful, Russian army will be bigger than French, Italian, British, Polish, German, Spanish, Netherlandese, Swedish and Danish combined! It is clear that Putin has been emboldened by the Republican actions. And Peskov has stated ofr the first time since the start of SMO, that Russia is in warstate. The Russian war against NATO is more likely than ever Edit: Russia already aired deepfake video in the TV, that the terrorist attack is linked to Ukraine. And FSB has detained 11 “terrorists linked to Ukraine” already. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/03/23/7447789/

  14. No, they aren't. Satire, social commentary and calling out people who are too accustomed to get away with things without being held accountable. It wasn't an advert, that was just the LNP (the right wing coalition) working the other way around. I.e. normal law abiding citizens would do something like this, these guys are dong something wrong, lets shut them down. Instead the LNP decided these guys must be shut down (because they didn't like their BS being called out close to election day), so what can we pull out of our sleeves to accomplish it? No matter how far fetched from it's intended purpose that law was (to limit the campaign spam from political parties the last week before election) Politically JuiceMedia is probably a moderate leftist group, but mainly going for those who consider themselves above the law. They usually refer to the LNP (the right wing coalition) as the s*** party and the Labour party (the left wing party) as the s*** lite party. No love lost for either of the two big groupings. In their past videos they recommend people vote independents of peoples own liking (unlike some countries, those can be quite powerful and numerous in Australia)

  15. Of interest to probably no one but myself: I've been messing about in Casear4's largest "freebuild" map, Roma. C4's mechanics are quite different from C3, and I don't recall C4's nearly as well. So it's taking a while to remember how to be efficient with housing and service blocks vs. terrain. After a few tries over a couple days I had a nice result of 6k population, nothing special, but I thought the layouts worked well/could apply to other maps. Then I curiously looked up an old save file of Roma from 2012 and looked at it. My brain deflated and went "oh, yeah, like that..." I now have a vague memory of doing this - may have even posted here, dunno - but it was an attempt at getting the "highest" supportable population one could get on Roma-map w/resources and all the trade ships available (vs. "pretty"). Which is why at the top of first picture is a zillion gatehouses taking up that whole land area, to suck up excess workers. The point all being, is that totally forgot about and I have no idea how I came up with/managed all that. It must have taken a lot of planning/nerd-ing and my current befuddling brain can't conceive of it. It's just a weird sensation. Also ... 50K+ population plus all those buildings - C4 may not be 2d like C3, but like I said in another thread already, try getting that in newer/current city builders without dropping to 5fps.

  17. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/gunmen-open-fire-in-moscow-concert-hall/ Putin ignored the warnings from the US and even went on the expected grandstanding knee-jerk response to the US intelligence " Just three days ago, as reported by the Russian state media agency TASS, Putin branded these warnings ‘outright blackmail’ whose intention was ‘to intimidate and destabilise our society’. The warning – and his dismissal – is being highlighted by opposition Telegram channels and set against the carnage that Russia is confronted with this evening" And its obvious why Russia responded like this, they cant accept that the US might have credible intelligence that the Russian state was not aware of and Putin needs to continue to project the image that under his style of authoritarianism Russia is domestically safer and its own intelligence gathering is effective The one thing the article is wrong about is the statement " For some time, Western intelligence agencies have been picking up chat about potential strikes in Moscow – and the US took the unusual step of making a public warning " Its not unusual for the US to issue these types of warnings for their citizens in any country where they have credible information of an imminent terrorist attack and often they right. Its happened in South Africa where the US warned SA about an imminent ISIS linked attack and there was immediate criticism of the US warning but a month later an ISIS cell was arrested

  18. Frieren 28 Time to see who else passed Serie’s test. Too many screenshots, better do something like what @Gorth does. There were many who passed, which caused Serie to apologise to Sense. Denken made it, because he still has some fire in him, even considering fighting Serie, for a moment. Ubel, in record time, not saying a single word (perhaps Serie is an Ubel armpit enthusiast too?). Land, who was actually sipping tea in his hometown, sending his clones to the exam. Also succeeded Wirbel and Methode (who said Serie was cute). Ehre and Scharf failed. Fern says they can bring guests to the celebration, but Serie forbids Frieren from coming back for the next 1000 years. She waits outside with Stark and Lernen shows up, claiming he wants to be remembered, even if it means as the one who killed Frieren. She informs him that Serie will not forget him, despite being unable to tell her apprentices how she feels. The group says their farewells and Fern reveals that she chose as her prize a spell to make clothes clean and spotless, which caused some disappointment in Serie, something that pleased Frieren. Btw, am I the only one seeing this in Sarex's comment above?

  24. It's good for Larian, good for the BG franchise, good for D&D, and good for me personally. This is the best news I've heard involving Larian since BG3 was announced. I'm actually finding myself curious and interested in what those two new projects Swen talks about may be. I hope at least one of them turns out to be a Larian game I will like, finally! And yeah, it is also my take that Larian learned the same lesson everyone else who's ever had the misfortune of trying to do business with WotC learned: WotC (and Hasbro) are the worst! I don't see too many studios, and especially small studios, risking their fortunes by hooking up with WotC.

  25. Performance issues are widely reported. The also launched with in-game store. It seems there is no way to create more than one character, and game charges you if you want to change the appearance of your PC or your pawn. Also bunch of currency and items available for purchase. it seems nothing that you can buy can’t be earned in game, but it does bring concerns about game’s balance integrity. still I was thinking about buying DD2 but between me struggling with the original, poor performance and microtransactions makes it a pass for me.

But I have a very big urge to restart the game with the Woodpecker pregen, which has 2 Intellect, despite being the member of the white wing

  27. To be fair, it seems this is mostly an artifact of Steam Cloud integration messing with the one-save-per-account system (which obviously is in-itself questionable). You're supposed to be easily delete your save and start fresh, from what I understand. The microtransaction being sold is meant to be for editing your existing character. You buy an item, whether for $2 real money or whatever in-game currency it costs to buy it from a regular vendor, and it allows you to modify your character once per purchase. I feel the more egregious thing though is that the game's auteur was yapping on about how fast travel is bad for games, then immediately undermines the semi-valid point he was trying to make by selling consumable tokens that allow fast travel from anywhere. This is exactly the behaviour that one would expect from Capcom, actually. The latest Street Fighter is a huge offender, as are recent Monster Hunter games. Apparently the first Dragon's Dogma also had some cynical nickel-and-diming, but they were mostly removed by the Dark Arisen re-release/expansion which was sort of a "Definitive Edition" of that game. Maybe the smart thing to do would be to wait for Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen...

Bear in mind that this pertains to the language as it's described in written sources, and as everyone knows, by the time language gets described in written sources, it has already changed.

  38. So what didn't I play? Grounded (not on gog + ewwww multiplayer), Pentiment (not on gog), Dungeon Siege 3 (started it, but dropped and all I remember was a long linear corridor of bashing dudes. The older I get the more necessary the story is for me to not get bored with a game) and South Park (I have it on EA storefront and one day I'll muster courage to deal with EA storefront, real soon now ). KOTOR 2. First game of Obs I played. Also first game I went to whine about on social network because I was so angry about the ending, it was my etalon for horrible, terrible, no good disappointing endings until along came "Lost" and dropped the bar into deep deep abyss. It really stood out because everything up to it was so, so good. Helped me to figure out my own love/hate relationship with Star Wars. Neverwinter Nights 2. An example of how people who know how to write can elevate even the most derivative cookie-cutter setting. This is also the game that taught me RPG systems are fun. Before it, I countered all my problems by dropping difficulty. Didn't work on that red dragon. Had to read about how to beat her and -- "Oh hey, there's the whole system in it?! " I think I played every class there except fighters and barbarians because those are boring. And then there's Mask of the Betrayer which is Alpha Protocol. I don't know how many playthroughs of it I did. Something between 10 and 20, and that's only because I really sucked at it, if I were any good I prolly wouldn't have stopped playing it. Anyway, none of those playthroughs were like the other. I remember how I tried to goad Konrad into fighting me, but because I was on "Biiiitch. As$hole!" relationship with Madison he deduced Mikey wasn't genuine and bolted. And how it took like hours to down Brayko on a SMG run. SIE best girl. Fallout New Vegas. That's my videogame home, the place where I feel well, at home. I got the "I'm home..." feeling instantly as I left Doc's house. Then the game promptly crashed. Anyway, my PC was too weak for it and I haven't tried to play it for quite some time. Which was for the best given it's buggy launch infamy. Still haven't done a Legion run, there's something too realistically reprehensible about their brand of evil. Tyranny. All I knew was "You play a bad guy" so it was extremely pleasant surprise to find so detailed, rich world and lore. Also the art, the music, the magic system, the almost Alpha-Protocol levels of variables, it's all so I don't much care the ending was kinda eh. I don't have a clear favorite Obsidian game, rather a crowded little plateau on a peak where games constantly fight for a title. Tyranny is the most frequent winner there. Pillars of Eternity. Kickstarted it as by then I knew chances were high I'll love it. Then it sat in my game reserve of "If all games from now on gonna be rubbish I'll still have this". Didn't get into it from the start because it looked like yet another bog-standard vaguely medievalish fantasy with dorfs and elfs, yawnorama, but in the second attempt I reached the hanging tree and got hooked. Somewhen mid-game I found out there's a sequel and that was the first time I've heard of it. Insta-bought. Deadfire. It could be my second home because it's so pretty and music is great, and characters are alive, and I want to make separate build for every interesting weapon, and the amount of hours I sunk into it is in quadruple digits, if not for the fact it fried my video card once, keeps attempting to do so again and I remember these things. Still, another frequent champion of the plateau. Like, everything in it just clicks with me. The Outer Worlds. ... ... I don't know what happened. Like, I liked all the separate parts. Art. Music. Setting. Environment. "Corporations are the devil" schtick. First two companions are really good. Dialogs are witty. Weapons are nice. But the sum of all parts somehow turns into perfect representation of "Meh".

  40. So during an official Apex Legends tournament, players got hacked and remote installed cheating cheating software on their PCs. To make matters funny some got an account ban. What makes this story interesting is that apex runs a kernel level anti-cheat software and the suspicion is that the hack happened through it. This is the screen that flashed for every player when the hack happened. See if you can spot it.

  43. Khorasan, not Kazakhstan. It's still far more likely to be Wilayat Kavkaz (ie Caucasus, supposedly one gunman has been captured and is Ingush); ISIS Khorasan is... well, not consistently credible at best. Their shtick is claiming everything and anything to get attention. The American warning was for an imminent threat (next 48 hours), on March 7th, more than two weeks ago. That was also the day Russia took out an ISIS cell, so it's likely the intelligence was acted on. Want to check if there was a more recent warning? Be my guest, but spoiler, there wasn't. per below John Kirby, they had no specific information to share about this attack. Source is direct from - and I'm fairly confident this isn't a pro Russian source, but you never know, could be wrong- the US Presidential Website Whitehouse.gov. Not exactly brilliant reporting, but sadly unsurprising that Bruce would take it completely at face value and draw an incorrect conclusion.
