No its not that bad as the Newsweek article suggests, this is an updated article 1 week after the Newsweek one https://www.politico.eu/article/commission-declares-victory-in-million-artillery-round-mission/#:~:text=The EU executive's de facto, has hit the magic number "The EU executive's de facto defense commissioner, Thierry Breton, pledged last year to get a million rounds of ammunition ready for supply to Ukraine by the close of March 2024, and while actual deliveries to Kyiv are way below that figure, he now says that manufacturing capacity has hit the magic number. "We are already at this level today, in other words — we are two months ahead of schedule in our capacity to produce more ammunition in Europe, of course for Ukraine but also for our own security," Breton said Wednesday on the sidelines of a defense ministers' meeting in Brussels.3 points

Blade Runner 2049 (2017). I had a pretty tough go with this film the first time around years ago, but I liked it a bit more this second watch. It's still too long, too sterile, too Villeneuve, but as far as kind of unnecessary sequels go, I guess it got the job done alright. I shouldn't re-watch movies I didn't like the first time, because sometimes I have to re-evaluate what I previously thought and experienced, and then sometimes I have to take back the nasty things I said about them. I don't like that. Nasty things should stay true forever.2 points

Im 20 hours into PoE2 and still loving it I appreciate the whole design of finding islands and exploring them, its a good way to motivate exploration especially if you need supplies on a long ship voyage I also decided to implement Level Scaling but only upwards, this was strongly recommended from people on Codex who pointed out combat becomes too easy if you dont do this and the level scaling is only by 4 levels so you wont find a level 10 rat, if the rat is level 2 it will only scale upwards to 6, which is silly and unrealistic Anyway it has made me much more strategic in battles. I was using the AI most of the time for my companions and now Im micromanaging more Im also really enjoying the broader narrative and interacting with the gods and understanding what are Eothas motives, I can see myself having to make huge and difficult decisions later on similar to the end of PoE1 but this time I understand more about the lore and history of the game world so my final decision about who I support should be better informed Im pursuing Romance with Xoti, Im helping her with her soul burden journey and I love her cute Southern accent2 points

I like the idea, but yeah, might be really strong. What if it was an activated ability? Dump all your focus into a blast, then get +1 PL for the rest of the encounter? You could also just make it a Crit effect, which keeps the sense of chance, but makes it more predictable. Edit: I just had another thought. You could make the whole Wild Surge effect something you can activate. Get +2PL, chance for Wild Surge. Make it a modal. Then people who really hate random effects can get a bog standard Cipher and still enjoy the dialogue, etc. In that case, I think turning up the % chance would be totally reasonable.1 point

I've been spending the last several hours, and will continue to spend many hours on Dondoko Island, which is a "mini"-game within Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. It's a mini-game by virtue of being a game within a game, but there's nothing mini about it. It's an entire full-featured Animal Crossing game, not in any way, shape, or form stripped down. There's also an entire full-featured Pokemon game inside LaD:IW called Sujimon, but I haven't messed around with it much beyond the introductory tutorial, and likely won't. Nothing against Sujimon, but there are only so many hours in my life and LaD:IW on its own, without either of these 2 "mini"-games, is already a rather lengthy game. Rather than half-ass either "mini"-game, I'll mostly ignore one and go whole hog on the other, and Dondoko Island, I choose you. Anyway, Dondoko Island is pretty great. There are these bad guys who have ruined this resort island by dumping garbage on it. Your task is to clean up the island and rebuild it into a thriving vacation destination. The bad guys are not keen on this, they'd like to continue dumping waste on this island and thus will try to stop you. There's only so much you can do in a day so it's about figuring out what you want to prioritize, whether that's beating up bad guys, cleaning trash, fishing, catching bugs, building, etc. I'm still in the early stages but it's very enjoyable so far. I like that there are different style scores you can increase: Elegant, rustic, pop, and sleaze. Naturally, I'm going full-on sleazy. My Dondoko Island is going to be a den of debauchery. I have a slogan set up and everything: Dondoko Island: Down To ****.1 point

For breakfast my son and I had a sirloin steak with over easy eggs and toast. My wife isn't a fan of steak for breakfast so she didn't want me to make a plate for her but she kept picking at my plate.1 point

These last episodes of Frieren were pretty good. I love when they defeat an opponent or solve a problem in an interesting way. Destroying the barrier to give more water to Kanne (Lawine? I don't remember who is who ) was great.1 point

I've watched Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and Sicario, and I feel like they've all had the same kinds of issues from front to back. "Bland", "emotionless", and "mechanical" are all great words to describe what I've seen; there's a lot of good stuff in his films as well, but...they're just not doing it for me on the whole because of those issues. They used to make movies!1 point

Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) - "Twink Jesus" is never a thing that would have entered my brain before but here we are. I liked the choice of starting and ending with the cast and crew getting off/on a bus instead of just starting with a musical number. That was a power move in establishing this as a performance within the film itself, a bit of fourth wall breaking I wish we'd see more in films. Other than that it's an extremely 70s musical that cast mostly performers who did stage work. Tolerance for musicals generally is probably going to be the biggest factor in enjoying this film or not. Yeah, you could say the exact thing about the new Dune Part One. I think Lynch's Dune is a trainwreck, but it works much better as a film than Villeneuve's Dune Part One, which like feels a very bland and emotionless 2.5 hour trailer for Dune Part Two. There's just something about much of what I've seen of Villeneuve (which hasn't been too much tbh, so maybe more of his stuff previous to big budget scifi was better) that feels just too mechanical. The man has technical talent but it's like he doesn't have anything interesting to say and doesn't think beyond the script, so his films all feel very literal with the world beyond the (main) characters not really existing.1 point

For me, it's an underrated aspect of cinema-making that feels like it's largely gone by the wayside: scenes and environments that look like they make sense and seem casually lived in, with people actually transversing and occupying them. When you see the girl living in her bubble room and it's just...a completely empty room, my brain goes "ehh...what is that, are there more rooms in the back that we can't see, how could she possibly live in there?". Immediately preceding entering this building, Agent K had to survive hordes of armed bandits harpooning and bringing down his flying vehicle so they can presumably steal and salvage it, but I guess they've just let this completely undefended techno-paradise devoted to exactly one girl be untouched? Neither of these are ultimately important details (nor a host of other little things nagging at my brain), but they're details that don't feel like they had enough attention paid to them in a film whose environments are all very deliberately planned as well as quite expensive to put together (...one way or another). I don't know. When I watch the original Blade Runner, I feel like I get a solid grasp for how tragically real the world is or at least could be, the kind of lives people have to live in order to make it given the circumstances they helplessly find themselves in - with characters who make impressions both quick and slow upon you over the course of the film in order to really lend weight to the illusion. With this film, it's just smoke and mirrors from the start until end, it feels like we're only ever shown exactly what we need to see to make the film make sense and maybe occasionally wow us with some pretty visuals, but the environments don't feel very cohesive or as if they fully connect to each other (especially because we basically never see anyone travel from one area to another...Agent K never walks or drives anywhere - even in the flying vehicle scenes, we always just hard cut from one scene to a character already being where they need to be right as they're about to land, while Luv seems to just get to wherever she wants to go like magic), and it doesn't capture the essence of what I look for when you're trying to take me to a different place and time distinct from my own, and I feel like that's a really important thing for a film like this, especially when most of your main characters are very stoic and flat. No, I didn't see the in-between shorts.1 point

If it's the same game I saw on Twitch today then it's probably for all the ****ing particle effects. Yesterday I caught a stream of the new Suicide Squad game and I could barely make it through 10 minutes before I had to change it because it was a particle effect bukkake constantly assaulting my eyes. Different people have different tolerances, for example I don't usually get motion sickness in situations other people do, but this constant visual explosion of colors in my face was legitimately making my head hurt. Not to be outdone, I saw a stream of Granblue something or other today and I barely lasted 5 minutes. The characters were level 30ish, so I can only speak about what I saw, maybe other portions of the game are different, but the ludicrous amount of colorful explosions constantly covering the screen was brain-melting. To make matters worse, there was constant non-stop chatter from the companions, to the point that they were practically talking over each other. Just a non-stop attack on my eyes and ears. Had I not turned the stream off I would likely have had a stroke. It was a ****ing nightmare. Developers, y'all need to chill the **** out with the particle effects. Completely filling the screen with colorful explosions to the point that you can't understand anything that is happening is not a good thing.1 point

Frieren episode 21... too many things happening to summarize in one post, so putting the wrapping up in a separate one afterwards. A word about their weird names. Whoever wrote the manga has an obsession with German words and all names, people and places (except one), that I've seen so far has been a German word that somehow summarizes it. I.e. Frieren (being cold, I assume in the meaning uninterested in the world), Fern (distant), Eisen (iron) the warrior, Heiter (cheerful) the jolly and perpetual drunk priest etc. Places that translates to the end (literally the northen end of the world), farthest away etc. Same thing goes for all the mages taking the mage test. Names that summarizes their personality. A bit jarring when you speak German Frierens team mates are the two girls Kanne and Lawine (meaning jug and avalanche, the former can manipulate existing water though she can't conjure it up and the latter specializes in ice magic). One of Ferns team mates is Ubel (mean/bad) and I don't remember the guy with the glasses name. The group Frieren is fighting is led by the old imperial court mage Denken (thinking), besides Laufen (running, the super fast moving girl) and Richter (the judge, not sure if it has other meanings when translating to English) The idea behind this particular test popped up 50 years previous, instigated by an old elf. Who just happens to Frierens masters master (Frierens master was named Flamme, i.e. "flame"). Flamme's master was Serie, who comes across as being ancient at a time when Frieren was an apprentice. She claims to know the content of almost every grimoire in existence and as a reward to those who pass the exam, she'll give each successful test taker a spell of their choice (like a genie in a bottle, fulfilling any wish you may have). Serie made the same offer to Frieren a millennia ago, but Frieren declined, finding the search for magic more rewarding than having it bestowed upon you. Having separated Kanne and Lawine (Frierens two young companions), Richter first wanted to kill one of them, to make the group automatically fail the test and seize their bird (at this point they have already stolen the bird, but they want to remove any reason for them to fight to retrieve it again). Denken orders him to not kill anyone, just keep them busy until sunset. And so he does... as mentioned in the previous post, a barrier keeps the elements out of the test area, which leaves the two girls at a major disadvantage. Richter can manipulate rock which are in plenty supply, but the barrier keeps the main tool needed by the girls away. A rather one sided affair... Old man Denken in the meantime, realizes he may have bitten off more than he can chew... Desperate measures... It was inevitable Just to establish her dominance, Frieren literally kicks his butt Seeing the old man lose, Richter decides he now needs to get serious... In the meantime, Frieren decides it's time to get their valuable prize back. She know Laufen (the fast moving girl) is hiding nearby and threatens to kill the old man if she doesn't hand back their bird. Laufen doesn't know Frieren, so she thinks she can pull off the same trick twice and snatch the old man away from her. It didn't quite work out as planned... After tying up the two mages to a tree, Frieren enacts a plan she made yesterday to help out the two young mages in her group... and destroys the barrier Serie put there 50 years earlier... Serie seems a bit bemused by that, when she senses the barrier coming crashing down Suddenly getting access to plenty of water means, the tide has literally turned against Richter... all half a million liters of it... and the sun is setting soon, marking the end of the test. Just rewards are handed out1 point

I'm sure I've watched some stuff over the last month or two but most of it slips my mind. Here's the stuff I remembered. Dave Chapelle and Ricky Gervais stand-ups - These are probably the worst I've seen from either comedian. Iron Chef America - My son is addicted to this show but it's funny how Hulu doesn't show any Mario Batali episodes. I get that he's a sex pest but my wife likes Italian food and I'm looking for ideas. I'm a monster, I know... he typed while listening to the Thriller album. e: We watched part 3 of Lupin as well and might start Echo next1 point

Midnight Suns is eating up my time pretty well. It's pretty easy on normal. I've reached the 2nd act and the fights are a bit more diverse, but it is still pretty easy to win. The only loss I had was one of the personal missions where you and your dog take on the world, but I was able to reconfigure my deck a bit and win it easily the next time. It was also recommended for level 16 and I was 12, so I'm going to say normal mode is a bit easy. I'm enjoying trying to hook Captain Marvel up with Blade. Those are some socially awkward lovebirds.1 point

I'm continuing my mainland Morrowind adventures. I'm kind of curious if I can get to and from Vvardenfell without fast traveling. I can see the peninsula that Ebonheart is on, partially because I'm running on 5X draw distance, but still. I could try swimming, but don't want to deal with all the sea creatures. Once I get my alteration skill higher (read: 50+) I'll get a longer duration water walking spell and test whether there is an invisible wall to stop me or not. I did wind up finding the thief that stole my money. She offered to give me back my money to avoid conflict and I took her up on her offer. I had the option of attacking her or trying to apprehend her to bring to the authorities, but I only really wanted my money back and if the authorities wanted her captured they could have done it themselves. They were the ones that told me where she tended to hide out. There were several paupers also living in those same Dwemer ruins. Had she told me she was using the money to help the homeless, I would have believed her and let her keep the money, 500 gold isn't a big deal to me. But she didn't so I took my money and left. I'm currently on a pilgrimage so I headed toward the mining town of Bodrum, since it has a shrine I need to visit nearby. There is a Daedric shrine near Andothren and I explored it. The cultists inside didn't take kindly to that, but they were no match for me. I talked to the guardian inside and she told me that I killed her cultists but they were annoying $#!+s so she left me alone. Fair enough. I looted the crap out of the shrine but made sure to do so out of her sight. I then stopped at the fishing/harbor village of Teys for the night on my way west: After a long hike along the coast then through some mountains, I crossed a river and neared Bodrum. Here are what looks to be Dwemer ruins near the town off in the distance: And the town itself: A+ for consistency so far. Andothren very much resembles Balmora in architecture, which makes sense since it's a Hlaalu city. Bodrum is a Redoran town and the architecture reflects that.1 point

Hmm. I wonder. Hmm. ....well, it's possible (re: "forcing" excessive base radius limit) but maybe not very advisable. Deleted the longest connector bridge to save building-parts count #'s, plus it's too far away for walkin' so I'd just fly to that mt. top anyway. I had to radius-glitch over there to build a landing pad first tho. Anyway, not sure I really like this result (I might change it) but it was kinda fun trying. Plus now I'm more knowledgeable in case I ever find a better "spot." ...now I just have to remember to always save/exit on the landing pad/ship, so I don't fall thru the floor on save-loading, like so often happens if you use a portable save-point beacon placed on a floor tile, instead. >.> Edit: It'd be cool to build an entire "city" in the sky, filling up that whole space between pillars, but there's this parts-limit per base - 3000 if you want to upload/share it - and a total parts for entire single save (20k?). You can reach that really quickly if you go crazy. EVERY power connecting wire you use counts as a "part", stuff like that.1 point

My rule whenever I started an SL1 character was that if I died and then died again before I recovered my souls, the game was over and I had to delete that character. Why? I don't know: as an SL1 character, you don't need souls. Principle of the matter, I suppose.0 points
