Of course Azura has her fun with that, with that vision at the very start of the game. "Oh, so you think you can create a fake chosen one? Let's see how you like me turning them into an actual chosen one." then *mutters* "Call me an Anticipation, did they?" Or at least that is how I imagine the Morrowind plot in a nutshell.2 points

I thought it was kinda alright when I started, but the more I dig into the mechanics the more I love it. There are so many hidden mechanics that can completely change the way you play.2 points

Goodbye Port Olisar o7 Crusader, as seen from Port Olisar in 2018: More or less the same spot in 2023 at night: You'd come up to the pad after going up the stairs from this walkway: To be greeted by this view: Getting to your ship (an Aurora MR, aka "small starter ship") with Crusader in the "background": Nowadays you can actually fly down to the planet, to Cloud City Orison: Which looks especially amazing at night:2 points

interesting. we haven't. the last trek we watched every episode 'pon release, baring the unforeseen, were ds9. rather early into voyager's first season we realized we were not a true trek fan who would suffer many bad episodes in the hope we would get lucky and enjoy an infrequent good offering. am now having seen every voyager episode, but we didn't accomplish such an arduous task until a couple years post the initial dvd release... so, 2006 or thereabouts? that said, in spite o' our voyager cynicism, is no way we were gonna miss brad dourif episodes o' voyager. paul williams' guest spot were also can't miss for us even though it weren't great tv. edit: joel grey and scott thompson also were guests who inspired us to tune into voyager when their episodes were broadcast. converse, in spite o' being a ray walston fan, we skipped the boothby installments o' voyager. to keep on topic, am a trek fan same way am a traditional conservative. we most certain do not vote for every gop candidate. we have seen extreme little trek since discovery first aired--2017. is also approximate when we said our final fu to the republican party and any republican candidate who refuses to speak out against sh!te such as muslim ban, the fed portland response and january 6. with an extreme brief viewing o' discovery, we realized we no longer recognized trek. we similar don't recognize the gop o' trump, mtg, gaetz, hawley and so many others. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Playing Dark Urge as a first run and there's only one NPC who you are forced to kill. You can easily play the hero otherwise, just don't fantasize too much.1 point

GOG and a firewall solve it. You get to keep whatever version you are happy with and the developers/publishers can't do anything about it. (Stares disapprovingly at the PoEII "Ultimate" update). Speaking of, do I remember correctly that in some version of Morrowind you could manually enter the dialogue topics? Story-wise, reached the Ashlanders' village. Caius Cosades told me to try to pass as Nerevarine and seemed like a fine idea. OOC, I like that the PC is not actually the Chosen One, but the one selected by the emperor because he could play the role of the Chosen One. --- Tried Unavowed, a point-and-click adventure game. It was possible to enter the PC's name manually, and the NPC asked me not to suggest him to fornicate with himself (given the situation, it was the only answer coming to mind). After several attempts the PC was named "Demon".1 point

That’s why you play these on PC Hardware emulators like PCem, which emulates the real hardware of old time, for which these games were made, including Sound and Graphics cards. https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/emulate-old-pc-using-pcem there is also one specifically tailored for games, but unfortunatelly, I have forgotten the name.1 point

Patch roadmap: https://community.jaggedalliance.com/index/dev-diaries/devdiary-16-patch-roadmap-r21/ Bobby Ray's incoming! On the one hand, I've really missed the shop, on the other hand, my crew is already fully decked out and I don't really have any issues with crafting the ammo I need. Since I have almost unlimited amount of money now, I fear the shop will make the game even easier. That said, I do kinda miss the early game difficulty. Rolling with 2 squads of fully geared out mercs with high skills does make the game quite easy most of the time.1 point

I recently migrated some low grade trash Android phone to a newer Samsung for a friend and the experience was not nearly as smooth as it was with the iPhone (turn on new phone, it automatically couples with the old one, you press one button, enter your password, set a pin code, done - zero configuration work on the new phone, except for telling them that they can stuff their touch ID some place where the sun don't shine ). Makes sense, given the wide range of Android devices available. Much easier to get easy migration paths done when you only support a limited amount of devices with a tightly controlled operating system. Not a dig at Android. I mean, the migration. I hate everything else about Android though, the system is a mess, especially on Samsung phones. Apple might be a creepy sect, but their phones have a settings menu that contains, well, all the settings you need. Android looks like the Windows 11 control panel in comparison, just without the search function that makes it easier to find the setting that you're looking for.1 point

I think the cpu bottleneck may be worse for many. It's tougher to upgrade the cpu (mobo compatibility being what it is these days) vs. slapping a new gpu in hoping you can brute force some performance benefit. What these games seem to be doing at the moment is increasing cpu demand by a lot as well as gpu. But yeah...it's been 4.5 years for me and not looking forward to building a new rig. It's one of those periods where even if you have a lot of spare cash, it's hard to say what will be the most future-resistant. Trying hard to wait at least another couple years.1 point

These days, it bothers me with offline games too. Half the time feels like one has to wait 5 years after release before a game is truly "done" and you can play without some big skill, items, area/design, enemy, etc. suddenly occurring.1 point

I think that's why most MMOs stopped actually messing with the world state and generally use areas frozen in time. It was pretty bad for new, and old, player retention alike. (see WoW: Cataclysm and GW2 with their early living world seasons)1 point

It doesn't have to be a traditional war it would ideally be a proxy war. The neocons would prefer to sucker some other country to do the dying instead of us, but only because that makes it much easier to sell the war to the public, they don't much care whether it's Americans, Ukranians, Iraqis, etc. that are doing the dying so that they can line their pockets. To be clear, I'm pretty confident that China doesn't want a war (in the traditional sense) with the US, or Taiwan, for that matter. Frankly, they have no need to go to war. They spread their influence via economic means, much the same way Murica used to before the neocons took over and brought with them their foreign policy of military intervention solves all problems. As for MAD, that's a deterrent for folks like you and me, well, I guess I can only say me for sure. I'd like to continue having a habitable planet to live on, I'd like to think you do to, but I shouldn't assume. Neocons don't care. I'm sure they have access to a bunker somewhere in the case they call what they think is a bluff and it turns out the other party was holding 4 aces. They can later emerge to rule over an irradiated dead rock floating through spacetime. But hey, they'll be COMPLETELY in charge of said dead rock, so there's that. If it wasn't already clear, I have a STRONG disdain for neocons. It goes back to the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld days.1 point

am gonna guess trump believes he would still be President if his vice president were other than mike pence. the thing is, pence supported just about every trump excess, no matter how extreme, save for on january 6. pence were ok with pu$$y grab and muslim ban before trump were elected and pence stood by trump through the mueller report, a couple impeachments, a government shut down, maga cronies and their get rich quick schemes related to the wall boondoggle, sending armed federal troops to states where state governors express rejected federal "help," which amounted to kidnapping protesters and whisking them away in white paneled vans, not to mention the mishandling o' covid which 'ccording to multiple persons on trump's covid team resulted in hundreds of thousands of excess american deaths. also recall that pre january 6, pence were like some kinda bobble-head doll whenever trump mentioned the rigged election, reflexive and mechanical agreeing with conspiracy theories in spite o' zero meaningful supporting evidence. trump started with the rigged election nonsense six months before the election and continued from november when he lost until today. trump needs somebody more servile than pence? good luck. am thinking 'cause o' how poor trump does with educated women conservatives, he will likely choose a vp who polls well with that demographic. nikki haley has said the wrong things about trump, so her potential as vp appears diminished. perhaps kristi noem? trump's vp choice doesn't need be a woman, but am honest not sure who is polling best with conservative soccer moms other than nikki. regardless, am not seeing a whole lotta great possibilities and almost none which genuine is gonna help trump with the demographics he needs. reports are that kamala harris had a historic dysfunctional presidential campaign, and once she became veep, there were considerable turmoil w/i her office. worse, the stories about kamala's interpersonal and management problems were not coming from fox news. say what you will about the biden administration, but is noteworthy how the white house rumors and leaks diminished to a mere trickle after trump left the building. is kamala harris staff who were portraying the veep as a less huggable joan crawford. am thinking democrats is gonna downplay as much as possible the fact that if biden is reelected, kamala harris could be the next President, and not 'cause o' a 2028 election win. am suspecting the 2024 vp choices to be as uninspired as the candidates. rfk jr? our dark horse choices is stella immanuel, douglas maccregor or harvey. all is win, but am pulling for stella immanuel. Aunt passed away over the weekend, she was 94. I never actually met her as she lived in OKC but it made me think about how many people in my family lived to be 90+. Grandma who passed earlier this year was in her 90s as well. Of course, my mom died in her 40s so there's that. In less death related news, went to a museum over the weekend because they have all of my son's favorite things; space, dinosaurs, and rocks. Then we came home and made wooden swords while watching Star Trek 4. Was a pretty good little weekend even though I had to work a little bit on Saturday.1 point

I think Biden is just losing his mind, which I think is probably worse than lying on purpose. He's been like that for a while and it's not getting better. I'm not defending him and I don't even like him. I'd prefer almost any other Democrat and even quite a few Republicans, just none that are currently running. I remember what I was like hell no, not Mittens Romney. Now I'm like what about that Romney guy. It's like nuTrek being so bad that I'm like let's watch Enterprise.1 point

Me: "Did they post your MRI results yet." Hubby: "Yes." Me: "Well, what does it say." Hubby: "It's full of medical speak, I'll just wait for the docs to..." Me: "Print it, gimmie." --T12 and L1, nothing. --L2-S1, all variations of: Broad-based disc bulge/left lateral osteophyte and facet hypertrophy. Mild to moderate central stenosis, minimal right foraminal stenosis and severe left foraminal stenosis with impingement of the exiting left nerve root. *GoogleFu* Me: "All that just to say "your lower spine/discs and nerve pathings are rather ****** up." we don't follow ina garten... at all. however, at a cooking site we saw a link to an article where ina recommends store bought alternatives she always uses instead o' making from scratch. we saw pepperidge farm stuffing mix were included and figured we would give it a try. we were all set to find something to quibble 'bout regarding the dressing, but our post cooking concerns were extreme minor. the pepperidge farm stuffing mix is a bit salty but not excessive so-- am suggesting to avoid salted butter when preparing and make certain your chicken stock is low sodium... unless you like salty. proviso: we did not follow directions exact. after sautéing vegetables (we went a bit heavy on the celery and onion and next time would likely add mushrooms... maybe?) we added chicken stock and one egg yolk to the four cups o' stuffing mix and then cooked on the stovetop in a large skillet so we could better produce carbonized bits in the dressing. again, we tried to find complaints but is all minor. the bread cubes was small and we prefer a bit larger torn bread pieces. perhaps the dressing woulda' benefited from a smidge more thyme and sage? ordinarily our chicken/turkey dressing is a bit complex, but the pepperidge farm mix is easy and good. am doubting many posters make dressing frequent, but the ina suggestion is a time saver and results in a nice dressing which may easily be customized to suit individual tastes. aside, our new normal for making boneless and skinless chicken breasts is to buy those split and bone-in chicken breasts and then debone 'em our self. the resulting boneless-but-skin-on breast am finding is our ideal cooking option when am forced to prepare breasts. saw the method at atk. bonus: the leftover bones is great for making chicken stock. we pound the breasts flatish and then cook two-to-three salted/seasoned breasts skin side down in a large skillet. is becoming increasing difficult to find younger bird breasts here in california, so as often as not, even with a twelve inch skillet, am only able to fit two flattened breasts in the pan. once the chicken breasts are in a medium-high heat pan, we place a 5.5 qt. cast iron dutch oven on top o' the breasts, resulting in constant pressure and uniform pan contact. in our sooper-slick cast iron pan we need zero cooking oil as the skin renders enough fats to prevent any kinda sticking. with a stainless steel pan we require minimal oil. depending on thickness, we cook ~7.5 minutes before removing the dutch oven and flipping the chicken to cook reduced to medium for another seven-to-eight minutes. depending on the heat distribution o' your pan or hob, you may need rotate the chicken once-per-side so as to get even doneness. the skin helps keep the chicken moist and the pan leavings is perfect for gravy or any kinda chickeny pan sauce. if your dinner guest don't like skin, remove the offending organic matter after cooking, but pretty much all the fat from the skin is gonna have rendered out while cooking. For whatever reason, I have no energy today. Weight lifting was rough, I had to will myself through it. Usually, once I do a set and the adrenaline kicks I'm chomping at the bit to do the rest of the sets but today I must have been all out of adrenaline. I did it anyway. It's been months since I've had an off day, I suppose it might have been good to take today off. Oh well. Maybe I need to get some of that Frank Thomas stuff? You know, the "by the way, she'll like it too" stuff.0 points

Wow! I had the exact same experience during the ethnic violence of '83 in my old country when I was 16 years old. An armed mob showed up at our home looking for people of my ethnic group to kill. We barricaded the front door and I stood behind it (as a very scrawny 90lbs kid) holding one of those big ceremonial brass lamps from my religion, ready to bash at least one guy coming through the door before I was killed.0 points

I did, recently. Well, almost. Began a rewatch of Star Trek: Voyager, and I found myself not minding that Janeway's got bipolar disorder and should be in a loony bin instead of the bridge of a starship. I also no longer mind that the writers had no idea what to do with Chakotay outside of focus episodes that smack of stereotypes. Heck, I even enjoyed the discount Klingon episodes, and what is the most damning, I sat through all of Threshold and thought to myself: "Yeah, that's stupid, but you know what, it is not as bad as I remember." I can already see myself liking Enterprise sometime soon. Maybe I won't even hate Wil Wheaton's guts in the near future. Nu-Trek is insidious. Like mirror universe root beer. I know. It's so dark, edgy...and unhappy. And you know what's really frightening? If you watch enough of it, you begin to like it. You know, I probably spent as much time making fun of the show here on the forum as I spent time watching it, and I had to look up the names of these characters to find an image. All they really are, in essence, from left to right: gayer, gay, and non-binary. That is the in-universe equivalent of Anthony Rapp only being known as the guy who was fondled by Kevin Spacey. They're making Chakotay look good. Help. Well, enough of being off-topic.0 points

I got wind that Port Olisar, Star Citizen's oldest space station and the original starting location before there were any planets or moons to land on, is getting removed with the next major update (3.20), so I dusted of my HOSAS to visit the OG one last time. Spawning at PO in the "Habs", walking through the station to the airlock, hearing the sound deaden when the airlock cycles, stepping outside and walking to the open landing pad the ship sits on, with the absolutely massive gas giant that is Crusader looming overhead is a core gaming memory for me. Port Olisar so far is the only place in a game that managed to inspire that sense of awe by actually driving home the ridiculous scale of the universe. The station needed an overhaul, but it is a shame that the features that made it memorable, the spacewalk and open pads, are being lost in the process. o7 Port Olisar, you will be missed.0 points

I envy people who still have access to a good butcher in their vicinity. We used to have an award winning butcher close by, but he closed up shop a while ago. As did our small bakery, which survived by offering excellent products and great service. They had a breakfast subscription service, delivering your choice of freshly baked products (and milk, if you so chose) to your doorstep, somewhere between 4 and 5am. Sure, it was more expensive than going to the supermarket, but it was also much better and much more convenient. Led to much less wasted food too, as you could select the products you wanted for your daily delivery in just the quantities you'd usually need. The folks who ran the bakery retired, none of their children wanted to pick up the trade - no surprise there, not much material gain for very hard work - and they found no one else as successor either.0 points
