I got wind that Port Olisar, Star Citizen's oldest space station and the original starting location before there were any planets or moons to land on, is getting removed with the next major update (3.20), so I dusted of my HOSAS to visit the OG one last time. Spawning at PO in the "Habs", walking through the station to the airlock, hearing the sound deaden when the airlock cycles, stepping outside and walking to the open landing pad the ship sits on, with the absolutely massive gas giant that is Crusader looming overhead is a core gaming memory for me. Port Olisar so far is the only place in a game that managed to inspire that sense of awe by actually driving home the ridiculous scale of the universe. The station needed an overhaul, but it is a shame that the features that made it memorable, the spacewalk and open pads, are being lost in the process. o7 Port Olisar, you will be missed.3 points

And I really find amusing, how you try to belittle every UA achievement during the offensive, completely ignoring the fact, that they are now after the biggest battle in terms of manpower and vehicles commited during this war in around the Robotyne, where Russia has accumulated 100k+ manpower for the defense of this area, including most elite VDV attack brigades from 76th brigade. And Russia has lost it. Against the attacks of 65k+ Ukrainian soldiers. I remember you, belittling the Kherson offensive in a same way. And we all know how it ended up. Finger crossed, that it will have same effect this time as well. Although, me personally, do not believe they reach Tokmak, due to the sheer amount of meat, the Russia is willing to sacrifice for fulfilling of dream of a madman in Kremlin. Unless they have prepared the same surprise, as they given us near Kharkiv. They still have two months to fight.2 points

And here you are wrong. Kilo submarines are carriers of Kalibr missiles, whith which Russia kills civilians, so destroying one, is pretty significant achievement for the defense of the country. Landing ships on other had, due to Kerch Bridge being closed every other day, are currently used for transporting military cargo to Crimea and Berdyansk. So this was again a blow against Russian logistic, although less significant. And with Valery Bykov ship damaged today again, having less drydocks available for Black Sea Fleet, will harm them even more. As they do have only one available outside of Sevastopol. In Novorossiysk. They have three more in Sevastopol, but yeah, good luck doing maintenance to your subs there now2 points

I think Biden is just losing his mind, which I think is probably worse than lying on purpose. He's been like that for a while and it's not getting better. I'm not defending him and I don't even like him. I'd prefer almost any other Democrat and even quite a few Republicans, just none that are currently running. I remember what I was like hell no, not Mittens Romney. Now I'm like what about that Romney guy. It's like nuTrek being so bad that I'm like let's watch Enterprise.2 points

^ In terms of online, I'd guess all my PoE characters have lost their names so if I logged in I'd have to pick new names. And be forced to respec their passive trees. Not that that is a big deal. I keep telling myself I'm going to open that game one day and clear house/start completely over maybe, but then I think about the billions of stuffed storage tabs and I go "nah. Is there a "delete all" for storage tabs?1 point

unnecessarily serious response: ethical? am admitted stretching our imagination to the limits to excuse theft of a book. moral? 'cause is a book, is similar difficult but at least more plausible. an alien invasion is occurring and you need something to wedge a door closed so the xenomorphs can't get reach you and a group of defenseless children hiding in the last bookstore in galveston, texas, so you grab for a copy o' romney's bloated and insufferable book o' apologies and critiques with no intention of paying for it but hopeful the use o' romney's words will hold off the acid-blooded insectoids better than they did his gop colleagues. theft is the moral choice in such a situation. the obvious moral and ethical response to a ultra wealthy person further enriching themselves with book sales is not theft but rather protest and a refusal to personal purchase said book... although the grift, particular for a wealthy guy such as romney, is ordinary focused on ego as 'posed to monetary gain. no doubt bartimaeus is aware o' folks such as ted cruz and donald trump jr using skeevy methods to inflate their book sales so as to attain some desired position on the nytimes bestseller's list, yes? romney did something similar with his previous book, making the mass purchase o' his book a prerequisite for his attendance at speaking engagements. in romney's defense, am recollecting he waived such requirements at public universities and the like, but the compelled book purchases were nevertheless a naked effort at self-aggrandizement. personally we want books we do not like to be in libraries, 'cause am knowing people not named Gromnir tend to dislike books we would want to read and to grace the shelves o' libraries. if only books popular with the masses is on the shelves o' a public library, am thinking we all lose. regardless o' how much we dislike an author, the situations in which we would feel compelled to protest the presence o' a book in a public library is real but extreme limited, and short o' alien invasions or similar, am unlikely to come up with a compelling moral reason for theft o' a book. thus ends our unnecessary and not wholly serious response... but yeah, theft o' books and other ip is bad. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Yeah, but then you'd be supporting the public library having licensed it. A reminder that stealing things is always an option, and sometimes the only option that's actually ethical. Biden really is at his worst when he's publicly speaking. Once in a while he gets something that's hilarious and pretty poignant off the cuff, but he's many times more likely to do the opposite instead. It's not nearly as bad as Trump's constant word salad, of course, but...Biden is definitely not the most inspiring speaker or character, to say the least.1 point

am gonna guess trump believes he would still be President if his vice president were other than mike pence. the thing is, pence supported just about every trump excess, no matter how extreme, save for on january 6. pence were ok with pu$$y grab and muslim ban before trump were elected and pence stood by trump through the mueller report, a couple impeachments, a government shut down, maga cronies and their get rich quick schemes related to the wall boondoggle, sending armed federal troops to states where state governors express rejected federal "help," which amounted to kidnapping protesters and whisking them away in white paneled vans, not to mention the mishandling o' covid which 'ccording to multiple persons on trump's covid team resulted in hundreds of thousands of excess american deaths. also recall that pre january 6, pence were like some kinda bobble-head doll whenever trump mentioned the rigged election, reflexive and mechanical agreeing with conspiracy theories in spite o' zero meaningful supporting evidence. trump started with the rigged election nonsense six months before the election and continued from november when he lost until today. trump needs somebody more servile than pence? good luck. am thinking 'cause o' how poor trump does with educated women conservatives, he will likely choose a vp who polls well with that demographic. nikki haley has said the wrong things about trump, so her potential as vp appears diminished. perhaps kristi noem? trump's vp choice doesn't need be a woman, but am honest not sure who is polling best with conservative soccer moms other than nikki. regardless, am not seeing a whole lotta great possibilities and almost none which genuine is gonna help trump with the demographics he needs. reports are that kamala harris had a historic dysfunctional presidential campaign, and once she became veep, there were considerable turmoil w/i her office. worse, the stories about kamala's interpersonal and management problems were not coming from fox news. say what you will about the biden administration, but is noteworthy how the white house rumors and leaks diminished to a mere trickle after trump left the building. is kamala harris staff who were portraying the veep as a less huggable joan crawford. am thinking democrats is gonna downplay as much as possible the fact that if biden is reelected, kamala harris could be the next President, and not 'cause o' a 2028 election win. am suspecting the 2024 vp choices to be as uninspired as the candidates. rfk jr? our dark horse choices is stella immanuel, douglas maccregor or harvey. all is win, but am pulling for stella immanuel. HA! Good Fun!1 point

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66805897 Really interesting development and they used Neptune missiles "Earlier on Thursday, a number of explosions were reported in the Crimean peninsula, which Russia illegally occupied in 2014. According to the BBC's intelligence source, the Ukrainian operation used drones to take out radar equipment, then cruise missiles to hit air defence missile launchers. "After disabling the radar stations, the navy units hit the S300 and S400 'Triumph' systems, worth $1.2bn, by two Neptune cruise missiles," the source said. Neptune missiles were designed by Ukraine's military for naval use but have been modified for ground targets as well"1 point

as o' today (things will change) am thinking pretty much any moderate democrat ticket could beat trump. democrats need independent voters, so progressives are problematic unless they are overwhelming popular. even so, democrats, most independents and quite a few educated conservatives (particularly suburban women,) will not vote for trump in 2024. converse, biden has little chance o' beating most possible republican candidates... with the exception o' trump. is an insane game o' chicken, but trump and biden ain't strapped into their respective vehicles aimed at each other so much as they is pedal to the metal and bearing down on their own parties, daring 'em to chose somebody else. to have any chance in 2024, republicans need the trump base to vote for the gop candidate. the gop understandable believes trump will burn down the republican party before he voluntarily supports any other candidate for President than himself. democrats understandably believe they have the upper hand in a biden v. trump rematch, so the safe bet is to stick with biden in spite o' his numerous documented flaws? the safe bet seems mighty risky from our pov. Aunt passed away over the weekend, she was 94. I never actually met her as she lived in OKC but it made me think about how many people in my family lived to be 90+. Grandma who passed earlier this year was in her 90s as well. Of course, my mom died in her 40s so there's that. In less death related news, went to a museum over the weekend because they have all of my son's favorite things; space, dinosaurs, and rocks. Then we came home and made wooden swords while watching Star Trek 4. Was a pretty good little weekend even though I had to work a little bit on Saturday.1 point

When my wife's favorite milk is out of stock and I have to get one that's not organic I always give her crap like, sorry this milk is made out of rocks. My wife grew up a lot like I did though with a lot of stuff coming from someone's home garden and most meat from someone's small farm. Funny how that poor rural experience is crazy expensive now. We had to go to town to get the fancy processed stuff so it was always like a treat. Thankfully sodium isn't much of an issue for me but that's probably just a matter of time as everyone else in my family seems to have an issue with it. I have a skin condition that does better when I eat less heavily processed stuff.1 point

As expected, the enemy came alone. He tried to protect himself with Sanctuary, but Thorn Whip and Polymorph didn’t care about that. After he was targeted with Crown of Madness, he stopped casting Sanctuary and tried to run away, being targeted and hit by four attacks of opportunity. RNGesus was nice today. And I guess I underestimated that spell.1 point

I progressed with Karlach’s story and she wanted to go to bed immediately. I chose to do it later and, guess what, of course somebody else wanted to talk to my character. Every single night someone sneaks on camp and is not noticed until they are right on top of my character. These people wouldn’t last long in Golarion. I wondered if I ended the romance, so I rested again, just to have a scene with Wyll dancing. One of the dialogue options was hilarious Can’t wait for my evil pt. I tried to reload and talk to Karlach between choosing to long rest and actually doing it, but there is no romance option. If I reload an earlier save I'll have to re-equip everyone, so I’ll just accept whatever happens from now on.1 point

Here's the thing, No Man's Sky lets you explore a vast amount of space freely. You can fly around, plunge through the atmosphere, and even plunge into the oceans of water planets. It's alien and colorful and diverse. But it's also completely lacking in people to talk to. The story is weird. It feels empty a lot of the time, despite the fact huge fleets follow you around to each star system. It feels random. It's a good game, but I prefer the story, the characters, and the fast travelling around to different quests that I get in Starfield.1 point

I did, recently. Well, almost. Began a rewatch of Star Trek: Voyager, and I found myself not minding that Janeway's got bipolar disorder and should be in a loony bin instead of the bridge of a starship. I also no longer mind that the writers had no idea what to do with Chakotay outside of focus episodes that smack of stereotypes. Heck, I even enjoyed the discount Klingon episodes, and what is the most damning, I sat through all of Threshold and thought to myself: "Yeah, that's stupid, but you know what, it is not as bad as I remember." I can already see myself liking Enterprise sometime soon. Maybe I won't even hate Wil Wheaton's guts in the near future. Nu-Trek is insidious. Like mirror universe root beer. I know. It's so dark, edgy...and unhappy. And you know what's really frightening? If you watch enough of it, you begin to like it. You know, I probably spent as much time making fun of the show here on the forum as I spent time watching it, and I had to look up the names of these characters to find an image. All they really are, in essence, from left to right: gayer, gay, and non-binary. That is the in-universe equivalent of Anthony Rapp only being known as the guy who was fondled by Kevin Spacey. They're making Chakotay look good. Help. Well, enough of being off-topic.0 points

Here they would send you to "Goli Otok" to smash rocks if you were a credible threat to the party, or if not the police would just beat you. If you were a threat, then you would have a car accident in which you hit the only tree on a side of a 100km long road.0 points

The death threat sounds blown out of proportion. It seems more like an employee venting. Mind, my family has been receiving death threats since before I was born, so I have a different attitude towards the subject.0 points

I envy people who still have access to a good butcher in their vicinity. We used to have an award winning butcher close by, but he closed up shop a while ago. As did our small bakery, which survived by offering excellent products and great service. They had a breakfast subscription service, delivering your choice of freshly baked products (and milk, if you so chose) to your doorstep, somewhere between 4 and 5am. Sure, it was more expensive than going to the supermarket, but it was also much better and much more convenient. Led to much less wasted food too, as you could select the products you wanted for your daily delivery in just the quantities you'd usually need. The folks who ran the bakery retired, none of their children wanted to pick up the trade - no surprise there, not much material gain for very hard work - and they found no one else as successor either.0 points
