I did find Laez intro to be a bit over the top, but I do like Wylls. The swashbuckling feel of it fits the image he tries to craft for himself. Where's I can't imagine Laez timing her jump with a dragon just to make an impression on a thrall she wants to kill.2 points

Every Larian game I've played has an impressive opening part then falls apart completely as the game progresses. This is very apparent in Divinity: Original Sin but also exists in Divine Divinity and Divinity 2.2 points

Star Trek Resurgence, the negatives: 1) No skipping dialogue. This makes replaying to check out just some different choices potentially tedious. 2) single save slot for each playthrough (three save slots total for three play throughs) and no check points from which to start, means you have to play from the start, not skipping dialogues just to change one choice at the end. Which all leads to an uncertainty how different the outcome can actually be. 3) not enough end slide content. Of course if they follow up with a second game, exploring the consequences, I am up for that. 4) certain important choices are very contra the spirit of the federation or Star Trek in general. Saving or not saving sentient lifeforms is not a question for a federation captain in any of the series.2 points

Well, with the D4 season almost finished for me (just need to kill one more world boss to get the final season journey rewards), I'll be joining you guys soon.1 point

Spoiler-free screenshots: I should not have gone there. There was nothing that interesting. It is possible to talk to cats. Also, to big magical cats. Some spoilers for the end of Act 2 (nothing significant, no bosses or important dialogues).1 point

That made no sense. And she is always complaining we have to hurry. Imagine if she didn't own you her life. That is a good idea. So far I've only used it to distract npcs and rob them, but it doesn't work very well. Not sure if they hear me opening containers and I suck at pickpocketing or maybe Thiefling criminals can't be robbed, but I usually get caught and lose reputation. Anyway, I'm leaving that task to Lae'zel since she doesn't care if people hate her. The Companions' reactions show for less than a second. It's really annoying. I even tried to increase the font size, but it only affects dialogues, not these notifications.1 point

Yes, the formation is in order of joining the active party, so it is necessary to re-add them to to make the formation stay (it occasionally resets if done by dragging portraits). In most battles, you can switch to the characters out of the dialogue (the button is in the lower left corner) and position them better. It is possible to check which actions led to which inspirations. So far, I've got the most points for the Outlander and the Sage backgrounds, fewer for the Urchin and the Acolyte ones. I don't think so, only the current level on the Inventory screen. There should be some helmets available a bit later. --- Reached the city and Act 3. The final battle of Act 2 was curious. I think, most of the plot twists took place between the battle and the city. Regarding Bhaal, Somehow all main antagonists seem too talkative and boring. The former is possible to minimise, which I appreciate, though not to avoid completely. The sandbox/immersive sim-like design does not mix well with the cut-scenes. Also, there have been 2 unique and unexpected endings where the PC died (under the spoiler tag). I am curious how many more are there.1 point

I've now seen the introductions of all these characters, and this is pretty spot on. Wyll has the very worst introduction and I already want to kill him, Lae'zel's isn't much better but she has the advantage of being the first person you meet and you kind of are in need of her so that helps her case, Astarion's is annoying with how telegraphed and forced it is but also Shadowheart literally saw him 'sneak' up on me and put a knife up to my neck and she did absolutely nothing to help me so it made her look bad as well, Gale's is good (though I accidentally bit his hand off and killed him the first time I met him, but really that just made his introduction even better), and Shadowheart...as you said, she doesn't really have one, but that's fine. All in all, the only person I want to kill is Wyll, which is good, because we're both warlocks and there can only be one.1 point

I have to tell you I have started using Sidhe Paths and it makes a huge difference in combat particularly with disrupting enemy units and forcing them to split there armies. I defeated the Welsh and Im now dealing with the Saxons who were stealing my land while I was fighting the Welsh rebels and Im making huge progress against them using my new strategy And then something else I just learnt, until last night I have only been raising class skills and not general skills where Sidhe Path is located, I didnt click the tab for general skills and select any of those spells until now Certain knights joined me who had Sidhe Paths and I was wondering why I didnt see that spell for other knights...now I know why, I wasnt clicking the tab its located But its interesting, if you hadnt brought it up I wouldnt have adopted this new effective approach to combat, Im still using calvary but Sidhe Paths really helps. So thanks for sharing1 point

Thanks. And to note, I am quite sure BG3 will do very well in sales for the type of game that it is, if for no other reason than that it is a DnD game and can therefore draw on the support of the millions of DnD fans. I expect it will sell on the order of 10+ million eventually. But it surely isn't in the same sales league as games like Elden Ring, Zelda, and CP2077, despite being in the same league as those games with respect to the resources devoted to making the game. I also believe that as more and more people finish playing the game they will end up finding many elements of the game, especially those elements central to a game being a good cRPG, very lacking.1 point

You mean Starfield? Skyfall? Sure. Just trying to guess how the game have sold, based on data they provided. The numbers they shared, just seem much lower than I expected considering the assumed success. Based on those @kanisatha might have been right.1 point

1209 in the main save and about 200 in the test. By the way, this value can be influenced by mods that change the duration of daylight and darkness.1 point

Finished up Strange New Worlds S2 yesterday. Overall a good season with no stinkers at all and indeed none even close to being bad. OTOH, not really any standouts either for me. There was some potential for them but... generally I felt that the ideas had been done before and better in previous Trek. Or other series, I guess, for the musical episode and the rather obvious plethora of Alien(s) homages in the last episode (done with a certain amount of tongue in cheek). If the season was graded it'd be a B average, highest mark B+, lowest mark B-, so very consistent. Even having two gimmick episodes close together worked OK. And it is... fun for want of a better word, and despite it at times actually being pretty dark in its subject matter. Season MVP same as last season, Anson Mount's magnificent hair.1 point

I have a hatred for elves*, but I'd say that's pretty rational, I mean we are talking about elves. * Excluding Shadowrun elves, I have nothing against Shadowrun Elves.1 point

I think I've told a more detailed version of this story here before, but the very first Baldur's Gate character I played when I was a young and very stupid child happened to be a bard, and for various reasons relating to that experience, I will not play or even have a bard in my party ever again. @majestic irrationally hates AMD, I irrationally hate bards. Guess I'm sticking with warlock, and if a completely normal bard NPC even says a word to me in this game, I am going to disembowel them and eat their organs. I feel like being able to kill both the mind flayer and demonic lieutenant at the end of the tutorial (which is what I did) with the help of the intellect devourer is even better, though. I guess you can kill everything, but it would seem to start getting a bit difficult - those two cambions come in and start making things difficult awfully fast. But her name is Bloodless, why would she be interested in blood? Maybe because she doesn't have any? Well, whatever, best not to question any of the nonsense that happens in anime games. When I was making my character, I was choosing between half-elf and tiefling, and the only hair that I felt worked well with a tiefling's horns was Shadowheart's hair style, which is what eventually made me go with the half-elf, as I didn't want two characters with the same hair style. Well, Shadowheart has the big braid or whatever the heck thing it is as well, which isn't usable by the player, but I mean the rest of it. I think I found a couple of zero effect hats from random loot and tried them on her and her hair became ridiculous and terrible with them, so they get yoinked off immediately. She can wear her circlet for the entire game if it means not having to see her hair spontaneously get longer and flattened out ever again.1 point

I think thieves tools are only spent when you need to reroll. You need at least one to attempt, and more if you don't succeed.1 point

Didn't realise Paladins were that popular, I wonder how many of them became Oathbreakers, surely it's the majority of them. Over a third of players siding with the goblins is also a mild surprise to me. That's about it though. I didn't like his intro cutscene, felt a little like they were trying too hard to be cool. Kinda similar with Lae'zel's gratuitous flip when she ambushes you. Astarion's is a bit annoying because there probably should be a third option where you're suspicious of him. Gale's, while a little silly, is charming, and Shadowheart doesn't get one. I haven't actually met Karlach yet, or rather, I haven't since Early Access where she was completely different and non-recruitable. EDIT: Granted the stat is about playing as them, but I'd already met them three years ago in the above contexts so that permanently colours my perception of them. Aren't they always necessary? I don't think you can pick locks without them, because what are you going to use, your fingernails? I guess it makes sense in that context, though having access to makeshift tools makes sense too, like say, a cut-off bit of Red Bull can. Getting Shadowheart a hat ASAP is a good idea because of it, it's a feature.1 point

Huh, I'm surprised Wyll is one of the least popular choices. I thought he was a pretty easy one to jump into as a character. I also realize that I make unpopular choices, since my 2 created characters are a Human Templar of Tempus named Garret the Pale, and a Halfling Bard named Devin Eleven Toes.1 point

I respecced my companions ability scores, but otherwise kept them the same. Wyll's scores are the most stupid. He's supposed to be some kind of sword expert, but has Str 9 Dex 12.1 point

@Gorth: California Dreamin' is a brilliant song in the sense that it manages to create an aching sense of nostalgia for something even if the song wasn't a part of your childhood / youth or even if there's no real content to this feeling of nostalgia. The evocative power is in the music itself, which is just a superb achievement for a pop song like that. Here's another song of the same calibre but with a different emotional content: even if you've never experienced the kind of separation and heartbreak described here, it's likely to make you a bit weepy (happens to me whenever I really listen to the track). Ha, the guitarist Steve Vai has said that he can't listen to it in public because he cries so much.1 point

Well, now you made me tumble down memory lane: Oh look, it is also a cover. Sort of. Then there's an actual full cover of the Ultravox Classic that I have lying around here: Of course, there's also the Edguy cover: And for no other particular reason than that it fits with the 80ies vibe even though it is not an 80ies track, here's Edguy's Vain Glory Opera. Can someone just invent a time machine so I can just f*** off to the 90ies?1 point

Hmmm, the numbers here don’t seem very impressive. We don’t get an exact player count but we now how many origins were created and that sum is 7% of all characters created. Unless my estimate is off around 1,645,386 characters were created in total. Even if we assume no one created two characters (like I did), that would mean max of 1,6m players at most. That’s, significantly less than 2,5m of early access players.0 points
