  1. One of my all time favourite movies Together with The Fifth Element one of those movies I can re-watch like once a year (same thing with Galaxy Quest come to think of it, even if not made by Luc Besson)

  2. As @dgray62said, Gunhawk might not be the optimal choice of subclass, but I think it would still be good. The Bird is a great animal companion (better than all other ACs) and it cannot be stopped with engagement - which makes positioning and flanking with it a lot easier. So that should work well. Regarding Grimoires: since this combo needs quite some abilities from the Ranger side I tried to only learn very few spells and do the rest with Grimoires. I don't have a particular grimoire in mind right now - it's too long ago and I can't recall which spells are in which grimoire, sorry. I tend to hoard all grimoires I find though and then pick a nice collection for random encounters and some special collections for certain tough fights (for example I'd make sure to have a grimoire with Combusting Wounds against Neriscyrlas and so on). But a ranged Geomancer Maia with the Red Hand for her & her Phantom should also be powerful I think?

  3. I'm playing Saints Row 3, never played any SR games before. It's strange; the game is full of things I normally hate in games - timers, checkpoints, driving, combos - and yet here I am, 25 hours in and never noticing how it's 2 am already. Maybe because the game is so chill and unserious about anything it's hard to be annoyed at it too? I even started enjoying my abysmal driving! Also some minigames are better than others, insurance fraud is probably my favorite; also love clearing the pink fist events with a tank.

  4. It was easier back in the 80's in Denmark. The draft was a thing, and whether or not you joined the military was a lottery thing (quite literally, you drew a rolled up piece of paper from a barrel). High numbers went free, mid range numbers went to the civil defense (I did) and low numbers end up in the military. I guess The US is not too keen on reintroducing the draft after Vietnam? Edit: I could have excused my self from it, as I had bad enough vision, that I could get exempt on medical grounds, but I was never really one to shirk what I felt was everybody's responsibility and so participated in the lottery.

  6. Whatever you do, using Sasha's Singing Scimitar for a free per encounter empower is recommended. You can use two weapon sets and swap to your main weapon once you use the empower. I just feel like that's too powerful not to make use of. Empowered her tears or eld nary can obliterate foes.

  7. Go trobodaur/helwalker, thank me later.

  8. Insurance fraud is the greatest. It's such a simple mini-game, you run into traffic and get ragdolled. And yet, it's endlessly entertaining.

  10. indeed Yes, when he would be using Blightheart then his kills will give him +1 phrase. This is pretty cool in combination with Her Revenge since it only costs 2 phrases for a Skald and stays viable thoughout the whole game. But of course his weapons crits won't generate phrases then because it's a ranged weapon. But the combination of low cost and phrase on kill (on top of the normal phrase generation) is pretty fun. Later Eld Nary's Curse is also a great option to kill enemies quickly and retrieve phrases quickly for the next "Curse". Yes, in case the Skald uses Wahai Poraga he can "accidentially" hit his own skeletons. Kills don't do much for him then - but crits against the skeletons will be able to generate phrases for him. And since those Many-Lives-Skeletons have truly abysmal deflection he will crit them often. It's an easy way to generate phrases faster even gainst very high defense enemies. I would advise to use the "fixed" Wahai Poraga of the Community Patch which works like the description says - and not the vanilla one (hits less targets than described).

  11. Sounds absolutely fantastic, we have a braai culture in SA and thats similar to what you described as US barbeque culture. I love chicken hearts, vastly underrated

  12. You need the context... the cold war was running very hot at the time and the end of the world was an imminent thing....

  15. I appreciate the insights. I see the versatility of a Troubadour as a solid choice. As for Beckoner (or did you mean Bellower?) I enjoyed reading all the forum posts about the meta for them. Funnily, I read that Bellower was supposed to called Murmurer. Haha! So SC Skald would use invocation and have returned phrases when mobs die, and Wahai Poraga would mean the skald kills their own skellies- that sounds cool. I like the idea of an SC Beckoner using the sheer mass or mobs plus Spark of the Righteous for super shocking abilities . Actually, I think SotR is really good - I swear it auto hits, and the PEN is decent (14 if I recall) which is more than enough to over pen most mobs -it seems like 11 or 12 AR is the usual Shock AR when devs decided to give mobs a 'weakness'

  16. Only tangentially related, and I don't know if they still do this now, but many years back, they would once or twice a year send one of their manly man reps to try to recruit people straight out of high school. Never understood why people seemed to gravitate towards them - always thought they were right nasty creeps, so I avoided them like the plague. I remember the very last one I ever saw before graduating had apparently been told specifically to look out for me and ended up following me around and hounded me into filling out and signing some kind of form. Don't remember exactly what it was for, but he tried to sell it to me as some kind of "we have an active interest in you and we would very much like for you to reciprocate that interest". I did and returned it to him, but he didn't notice that I had printed and signed a completely bogus name, . As if I would ever do well in any kind of military setting...don't know what the bloody school staff (or whoever responsible) was telling them for him to have specifically sought out me, but the whole idea was utterly ludicrous.

  17. I have not kept up with Iron Maiden since Brave New World, which I now realize was 23 years ago, but it really is sad to hear that they are growing too old too keep up with their music. My personal favorite, in terms of (power) metal, Blind Guardian, should be safe for a while yet. They are a tad younger, but also creeping up on sixty by now. As for Peter Cornelius, his arrangements are not the most complex, so unless he eventually develops arthritis like Ritchie Blackmoore, he will probably be good enough to keep playing for a while yet. His voice is the bigger problem, he always had lung problems and even as a young man and had to undergo long bouts of therapy during his career as part of the German Hair ensemble - and that was before he became a heavy smoker. He also had a bout of burn out where his doctor prescribed him, to quote, "any- and everything he could without risking the loss of his approbation (German medical license)", which lead to an episode of paranoia and weird interviews about conspiracy theories. At least he is still alive, which cannot be said for some other local artists that I enjoyed who began their carreers in the late seventies. A heavy smoker who died of lung cancer back in 2007 and one who died of a heroine overdose in his early thirties. Then there are the others ruined by alcohol, hollow shells of their former selves. I generally do not post any of their music here because it does not make much sense to do so: they are and were all gifted songwriters, but there is barely any appeal for anyone who does not understand the language, and even then, well, one would need a certain cultural understanding to truly appreciate the lyrics*. The music of Peter Cornelius is somewhat different, like I said, it is maybe possible to enjoy his music even without understanding a word. The guy who died of an overdose could have had a pretty good carreer, even internationally. Alas. *In case anyone's interested. Put in spoiler tags as this post is long enough already.

  18. This build would definitely work for Maia, although the Gunhawk subclass is less optimal than the stalker for the melee geomancer build that @Boeroer suggests. But you could still do it. As for grimoires, you definitely want a grimoire with Concelhaut's draining touch, as you do not want to learn this spell, since doing so makes the grimoire switch trick impossible. Ultimately you'll want Concelhaut's grimoire, but early game you can get the Blood Soaked grimoire from the Tangaloa temple ruins crypt on the island just south of Port Make. You can take the enemies on there early, once you're about lvl 7.

  19. I returned to Drezen and the place is a mess. It looks worse than my Chaotic Good Kingdom in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which literally had garbage piles on the streets. Galfrey left on a suicide mission, but Anevia was really good at making the queen look nice and respectful to me. There was even a funeral! Iomedae showed up (funny to see everyone bending the knee, even Regill, and Nenio not asking any weird questions) and Nocticula and Areelu joined the party. Nocticula’s comment about Iomedae’s incompetence was gold. If I was there in my character's place I'd try to hold my laughter making it even worse. Iomedae would be pissed. And there was also this one: And who would have guessed that Regill would side with Iomedae and Seelah wouldn’t? I know I will.

  20. For me it would be Troubadour. I like to be able to switch from long linger time to Brisk Recitation. Beckoner Bellower + empowered Invocations does truly great things. I just find Troubadour better for parties - and more versatile in general. What about SC Skald (offensive Invocations +Blightheart for example - or Many Lives + Wahai Poraga...) - or SC Beckoner? Double upgraded Ancient Weapons (8 instead of 4) have impressive offensive output and cc capability. Even at lower levels stuff such as double wurms grills most enemies (as long as their PEN is still sufficient).

  21. I went to a BBQ yesterday. The weather was spectacular, save for the fact that it was hot as ****, but it's July in Cackalacky, it comes with the territory. My friend Thiago is the grill master. We bring him the meats and he grills them; my dude is a freakin' magician on the grill, plus he makes amazing chimichurri. An utterly obscene amount of food, meat and otherwise, was consumed. I brought kielbasa from the Polish store, there was steak, wings, pork belly, and the surprise hit from the previous cookout, chicken hearts. After I got home I was in a food induced coma on the couch for several hours. Good times!

  22. the terrible reality is it isn't fair for a significant number o' players. wotr is not genuine balanced in any meaningful way as everything busted and broken from pnp were simple ported into owlcat's version o' the pathfinder rules (garbage no living gm would ever allow) plus the even more busted owlcat original mythic content were glomped on to make the situation more complex, creating even more outrageous avenues for exploitation. the game is not balanced, but it does seem to be designed with unfair as the starting point. unfair battles, not surprising, require a player to utilize numerous exploits to survive boss battles, and the most challenging encounters on unfair is either at the lowest levels (where the player has the fewest character development options) or ambushes which preclude prebuffing. have seen time and again when boardies complain 'bout the stat bloat of bosses and use unfair as the measure, but the players who know owlcat's version of pathfinder, and all the item and spell exploits, is maybe a bit challenged by unfair boss battles. check out the innumerable unfair boss fight battle videos available online if you are criminally bored. baphomet, deskari, inevitable darkness and near any boss you care to name may be dispatched within a couple rounds on unfair by players who do not even bother with min-maxing, just so long as they understand what stacks and what exploits exist. example: the spectral minotaur guardian you mention is a declawed **** cat for a party which includes a skald capable o' providing massive partywide ab bonuses as well as the bane of spirit ring. 'course why would a casual player know how op is bane of spirit or how to use skalds to roll stomp through melee? the game were designed for the people who wanna beat unfair, and the game is only a smidge o' a challenge for those people 'cause the game suffers from ridiculous effective exploits. additionally, wotr and kingmaker enjoy some kinda "hardcore" reputation and the fanbase actual defends the bassackwards scaling implemented in the pathfinder titles. if battles are too tough, then you just didn't bother to learn the nuances of the system and that is on you... says teh rehul fans. the problem is the challenges is scaled down from unfair. playful darkness and demon lords present the exact same challenges and have the same powers on unfair as core, but core reduces hp, saves and attribute scores. a player facing core playful darkness is therefore needing embrace many o' the same exploits as the player facing an unfair playful darkness. wotr unnecessarily punishes casual players. wotr difficulty scaling is not necessary, but the approach is undeniably simple to implement and as wotr fans actual defend the curious approach as a feature rather than a flaw, owlcat has zero motivation to change their approach. am not saying the game is devoid o' fun. given the number o' hours we have invested in the title, such a position would be bordering on the insane. nevertheless, the title has multiple serious narrative and mechanics flaws in addition to the fact the difficulty scaling is the result o' lazy design which unnecessarily punishes many owlcat customers. HA! Good Fun!

  25. 12 is very strange game IMHO. When I played it for the first time, I hated it. On second playthrough, I really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun with it. Not in top 5 FF, but still fine. And on Zodiac Age playthrough, I had good time as well, but it felt less fun than the second time
