Big news on GOG. SEGA just released first 7 Like a Dragon/Yakuza games on GOG. edit to preface: i know nothing of coding im going blind here using intuition and observation to try to make this work so, Palegina has a conversation if you align with any faction where you can try(and possibly fail) to convince her to stay with you thing is, i cannot trigger this conversation for the life of me i browsed her hub conversation file(using apotheosis), where this convo is located, and it's initial node is set to "AlwaysFalse()" for it's conditional which i found odd, i tried replacing it with certain conditionals i thought made sense like the triggers for aligning with any faction that isnt the VTC or the trigger for coming storm being finished while siding with any faction that isnt the VTC but the conversation NEVER triggers, only way to see it is by enabling dialogue debug(using unity console mod) (here are my attempts to give the node conditionals to trigger, copied from other nodes that match when i want it to trigger, with no success) was this conversation cut? it is fully voiced like normal and all of its nodes besides the initial one have normal conditionals and can even trigger her leaving the party if failing to convince her, and i remember in past playthroughs being able to keep her while siding with the huana(rn she just stays quiet and leaves the party once you set sail, leaving a missive behind)...i did find the script that triggers her leaving and deleting it/emptying it does allow her to stay(without saying a word) and triggers the correct slide(i.e in my case she gets dismissed but then readmitted on castol's request due to going against the VTC but keeping castol's job) meanwhile Maia's dialogue if siding with anyone but the RDC(i mean the one where she questions you for your choice not the one where she leaves immediately) triggers normally immediately after fully siding with a non-RDC faction(i.e getting the wahaki alliance for the huana) and i cannot find whatever triggers it to copy and her initial node for it has no conditional at all and i cant find a globalscript that makes it play or anything... and i know my edit attemtps are sticking cause i managed to change one of the conditionals in maia's ultimatum conversation(so she stays if either u complete her quest with full success OR if your rep with her is at 2 instead of only the former) so, anyone with more experience modding conversations, tips? pointers? any help at all?2 points

Finished Lucifer Within Us. A short (3-4 hours? If I didn't check the store page, I'd think that it the whole game was an introduction) investigation game. Somehow, it captures the idea better than Pentiment did, but the objective is also different and there is a specific murderer for each case. Fixed the save files for Fable III and was able to load them. Somehow relieved that I can access and use my digital media (technically, we purchase licenses, while the files are the means to fulfill the agreements), although with third-party tools (DRM remover and save editor). I still might start a new game after finishing the DLC, as the saves are from the post-game. Finished Solasta: The Lost Valley. The update slightly messed up the pregen characters' backgrounds. The paladin's I noticed (from Lawkeeper to Lowlife), but missed the wizard's (from Aristocrat to Acolyte) and added her to the party (a rogue, a barbarian, a wizard, and a druid). At some point, the party got another wizard as a follower for a side quest. Because the quest was for a higher-level party and the follower wizard was very effective, he stayed with the party for the rest of the campaign. Overall, I chose a wrong party composition and the parts that I liked were not the ones intended by the developers, such as being able to explore an area without fighting our way through it or using an NPC in the manner described above. I am curious if it is possible to kill and loot Orenetis on the first meeting (thus skipping most of the game), but not going to test it.2 points

you are not alone re: indiana jones. our first post 'bout the lamplighters league we will observe the game is leaning hard into elements o' cthulhu mythology, so given the overall aesthetic o' lamplighters, perhaps add in hellboy as inspiration? HA! Good Fun!2 points

I know the story is completely unrelated, but the visuals and presentation somehow gives me "Indiana Jones" vibes (the original movie). Colour me curious2 points

System Shock is a testament to the fact that good design is timeless. 29 years later and this fundamentally unchanged remake is still every bit as tense as the rose-tinted memories of playing the classic original in my youth. Even when I get a level down to 0% security, I still don't ever feel truly safe wandering through the cramped dilapidated halls. There's that classic conundrum of trying to conserve my medpacks (because I will for sure need them on the higher floors) while being down to 20% health and knowing that the medbay is so freakin' far away. Just like I remember from the original, grenades are arguably the best weapons in the game. I've done some real satisfying room cleaning with frag grenades. Good times!2 points

This is the case with all bonuses that say -x% recovery time instead of +x% action speed. The pistol modal, Gunner, Opening Barrage (Scordeo's Trophy) and so on. Action speed buffs is something like Frenzy. Action speed buffs apply both to casting/animation time and recovery time, but in order to calculate the effect on recovery, action speed buffs must be converted in a form where you can combine them with those recovery time buffs. So in the end all action speed buffs also get converted into -x% time numbers. You can see that when you check the actual attack time and recovery time of the equipped weapons (see img below). The percentage which is shown there will be lower than the action speed ability says in its description. For example: While Frenzy is a +25% action speed mobifier the tooltip will say that the recovery bonus is "only" -20%. That's just because of the mathematical conversion from "+speed" into "-time": So when you see something like +25% action speed just keep in mind that it's less impactful for your recovery than -25% recovery time would be. -50% recovery time is a very big bonus. +50% speed would also be not bad (especially for spells that have a long casting time - because action speed buff apply to both casting/animation time and recovery time) - but on the tooltip above it would translate "only" to ~-33% recovery time. That's not what I was aiming at to explain, but nevertheless that is correct. It's the reason why speed buffs/recovery time buffs have linear returns in Deadfire (instead of increasing returns in PoE) and you can never reach 0 recovery by stacking all sorts of speed/time buffs. But the returns are not diminishing - they are linear. So it's worth it to stack those buffs. However: in case of reloading there is a hard "bottom cap" or floor value that you cannot break. The reloading animation cannot be sped up until a certain value (I don't remember the value in seconds) and you will reach that pretty soon with Gunner, pistol modal and Opening Barrage+Driving Flight. Once you hit that floor every additional speed buff/recovery time buff is a waste when it comes to reloading time for the pistol. For your casting however there is no floor so you can stack Opening Barrage for your ascension like there's no tomorrow and it would still speed up your recovery after casting a spell. The good thing with Opening Barrage is that it's not doing like -5% recovery time, then again -5% recovery time and so on but indeed adds up the 5% before applying them to your recovery "for real". So stacking 2 Opening Barrages truly translates to -10%, 3 stacks = -15% and so on. Otherwise the enchantment would be a lot worse. Yes, I guess it's a little mistake by the devs. Some weapons have effects that are not limited to the weapon usage itself. Lover's Embrace is one of them.2 points

Will this game launch on GOG? I don't like third-party software that needs to be installed in order for playing a game. Will Obsidian make sure there is a version fully catered to pc? Will it feature quick and manual saving? Nowadays 'PC games' launch but are actually developed for console and their horrible interface and control system gets ported over to PC to give abysmal gameplay. Latest game that ripped me off was Wolfenstein, paid almost full price and had terrible controls on pc. I don't want to waste money on non-quality games. Thanks.1 point

I'll give this a try on that note, do you happen to know where i can find the trigger for the g.script of palegina auto leaving(that is, when she leaves after setting sail and leaves a lil letter, gsd_companion_pallegina_leaves) cause even forcing the conversation with her or manually changing the "b_Pallegina_Was_Convinced_to_Stay" variable doesnt seem to prevent it and i had to edit the script to keep it from happening but i'd rather have it work as intended and trigger when it should instead of just not existing1 point

I think that there is a bug that special abilities from items can sometimes become permanent after saving and reloading. It has never happened to me, but I seem to recall reading about this before. I'd say, though, that you are very lucky to get run through as a permanent ability. It really is a powerful ability that can destroy most foes.1 point

If whatever used to trigger the conversation node has been cut, you could try creating a new ModScriptHook object to trigger it yourself under the right circumstances. Set its SucceedOnlyOnce to true and RunOnlyOnce to false, and with its Script set to trigger the conversation node. Something like this if { IsCompanionInRoster(Pallegina) and { IsGlobalValue(n_Allied_Faction, EqualTo, 1) or IsGlobalValue(n_Allied_Faction, EqualTo, 3) or IsGlobalValue(n_Allied_Faction, EqualTo, 4) } } then { StartConversation(Pallegina, companion_pallegina_hub, 224) } I don't remember whether the StartConversation script ignores the conditionals of the conversation node, so you might still have to edit those1 point

You lose super OP stuff like time parasite, reaping knives, and shared nightmare I just discovered an amazing synergy with ydwin as a pure rogue I give her reaping knives, she has 100% hit to crit conversion with gambit max guile, so she always crits, so she can spam it forever And you don't need survivability from lvl 13 on you just have perma barring death's door on with priest I feel like SC is underepresented on this forum, at least from the stuff I've read so far They are pretty OP in a party I guess on a solo multiclass should be better though1 point

Interesting that the wording involves "sovereignty" without mention of territory and borders. That will be an immediate 'no' for Ukraine, with justified reason.1 point
-
Funny you should mention that, because I was thinking something along similar lines. Short of all out victory for one side (unlikely to happen), the outcome will be a compromise of some sort, that will be a hard sell domestically for both parties. Russia won't give up territories with ethnic Russian majority (as far as I understood various assessments of the mood in Moscow) and Ukraine won't relinquish any territory they got from the break up of the Soviet Union. But practical minds will have to tell Russia that the Donbas is Ukrainian territory and the Crimeans legitimately voted for joining Russia after Ukraine reneged on the original autonomy agreement that was the premise for them joining Ukraine in 1991. Add things like allowing Russian as the language of choice in Dobas schools and administration and stop trying to kill off the population in Crimea by cutting off their natural water supply, stop supporting separatists both covertly and overtly etc. Maybe in 100-150 years time, they will decide joining their countries in a union would be mutually beneficial. I just suspect a lot more people have to die before they get to this point Edit: Point in case, France and England were in union for a while, even if it only lasted a few decades1 point

The war will end some day. Not really an epiphany, no war lasts forever (even if it feels like that at times). What I'm genuinely curious about at the moment is whether or not the world learned anything from the Versaille Treaty.1 point

https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/art...point-african-plan-to-end-russia-ukraine-war/ Here is the African leaders 10 point peace plan, in summary Both leaders must listen to one another; The war must be settled through negotiations and diplomatic means; There must be a de-escalation of conflict on both sides; The sovereignty of countries in terms of the UN Charter and internationally recognised principles should be recognised; There needs to be a guarantee of security for all the countries involved. This issue has been raised by all sides; The movement of grains across the Black Sea must be opened up to remove blockages so that commodities can reach markets; Humanitarian efforts must be set up for those affected by the war; Prisoners of war must be released and children returned to Ukraine; There must be reconstruction of the destruction caused by the war; and Further engagements should be held to encourage more dialogue through the Africa Peace Mission. It has some good and reasonable ideas but I cant see Putin agreeing to it because his political and ideological future is aligned to this war. If Putin drops dead tomorrow Russia will continue but the war needs some sort of victory for Putin's nationalistic aspirations to be sustainable But he wont agree to the following without a semblance of military progress which the Ruskies haven't achieved yet The sovereignty of countries in terms of the UN Charter and internationally recognised principles should be recognised; Prisoners of war must be released and children returned to Ukraine There must be reconstruction of the destruction caused by the war1 point

I had a Blood Axe Klan in the old Epic40k... complete with Rhino transports and Landraider tanks (stuff that is only available to Space Marines today) That and my Kult of Speed were responsible for outflanking maneuvers... except the Kult usually fell apart on the halfway distance, their vehicles disintegrating without any enemy intervention. But they were fast! (because they were painted red)1 point

In the 80s Blood Axe Orks could get human mercenary mobs who were Imperial Guard units dressed up as mercenaries so the Imperium could deny involvement and the Orks wouldn't know they were being manipulated.1 point

Thank you for clarifying, much appreciated. The main thing I want my pet for is for protection, like to stop my mc from getting ganked after I evasive roll into their back line to start dominating their priests/wizard's ect, or just in general from melee attackers, also for things like ectopsychic echo set ups, and to potentially lock down and apply my accuracy bonus to groups of enemies with tactical meld Pet needs to be tanky enough to do these things without dying too quickly, but if they do die it's not the end of the world because I can summon them again The survivability should be fine, especially with pain block, but I was more wondering from people with seer experience if this was a good strategy, if it wasn't and just using the pet as a dps dive bomb was more effective I probably would have swayed towards wolf Like masterty said, it depends on what you want, a single class cipher will usually be better at being a cipher than a multuclass but there's lots of other functional components you can add with multiclassing, ranger, wizard and fighter multiclasses can help out with accuracy, rogue adds dps ect Even still, I dont play single class characters because I personally find them boring compared to multiclass1 point

7 Days to Die A21 - "I'll just fiddle with the rwgmixer.xml numbers and try to make the perfect map for a bit." **10 minutes later** "Well apparently I made the perfect map (for me) already, I can quit now." ...more than one trader can now spawn within a modified humongous town now, so within the large lump are 4 (different) Traders, thus making single-city make more sense in that regard. ...they seem to have done better re: POI placement and repetition if you do this sort of altering, too. Buildings still repeat but better spaced out (like no more of the same gas station on all four corners) so it doesn't look as stupid, plus with better layout arrangement for the different types of City sections.1 point

One particularly obvious example of this is the end of the second act. If it's hard coded and will happen no matter what, then I can't see how it can make sense if you decide to play a hedonist. Oh well. I wouldn't be asking for my money back, but I am somewhat disappointed and I already uninstalled the game. While the comparison is unfair in many ways, I would say that Disco Elysium was an awful lot better when it comes to games that a) involve a lot of reading and b) essentially have no classical "encounters" at all (although DE famously has that one). Some of the mini-games I found particularly irritating. Like, if this is supposed to be a fairly high-brow game with plenty of reading to do and plenty of emphasis on European history (good!), then what the heck am I doing making these Christmas cookies and getting criticized for not bothering to be thorough enough so that there's plenty for everyone. I mean, yeah, in real life I would of course use the dough so that as little is left over as possible, but am I going to tinker with it in a game like this? Come on.1 point

Also finished Pentiment. I enjoyed the game, but I agree with the criticisms made in this thread by @Hawke64 and @xzar_monty. Based on what I read, here and on Steam and Reddit, there are many things you can't influence and that may not make sense depending on how you play the characters. Not sure how to implement it, but I think there should be a way to be more successful in your investigation, even if it meant ending the game in act I. As for the ending: Spot on. I was playing yesterday past midnight and was getting tired of all the reading in the end. As for the conclusions in the first two acts,1 point
-
Finished Pentiment. I have to say it was a bit of a letdown in the end. There was so much reading that I had to do, and apparently so little I had any control over, so by the third act I was thinking that I'd much rather just read a well-written novel, because while this game is nicely enough written, it's not written well enough to really justify my time spent on it (because there was so little I could do). After seeing how things turned out in the end, I actually started to wonder whether it's in any way possible to come to the right conclusions in either the first or the second act. I have no idea.1 point

In 40k, even the one xenos is stretching the plausible. In the olden days, before the lore got fleshed out and altered into what is now, a couple of aliens would have been easier to justify. I would have liked to have seen a squat, a ratling, or an ogryn among the companions.1 point

anti-establishment? the guy is one o' the 5g + bill gates + covid vaccine microchip kooks, and he continues to promote that bit o' crazy. shared such with rogan in fact. am not saying rfk jr. is a bad person. already mentioned him overcoming his addiction is a plus in our book. additional, he has championed the causes o' more than a few indigenous peoples, and if you told us he had saved a puppy from drowning by risking his life, swimming into dangerous cold waters, we wouldn't be surprised; we would cheer his humanity. seems like he means well. unfortunate, we wouldn't want a person so divorced from reality as rfk jr. to be President... anymore than we would champion joe rogan for the office. tinfoil hat legionnaires, regardless if they is anti-establishment or even if they have a meaningful and practical plan to address income disparity and national debt problems (he doesn't,) should not be serious considered as President. a lack o' shared belief in facts and reality is an increasing problem in this nation and to have somebody who believes school shootings is the result o' the invention and prescribing o' prozac is literal dangerous to have sitting behind the resolute desk in the oval office. as to age... am recognizing how different people age... different. however, am having noticed old people is often the last to admit they need help even if most people around them see how the aged person is increasing incapable o' driving safe, handling a gas stove, or being a US Congressmen, SCOTUS Justice or POTUS. biden did recent take speaker mccarthy's lunch money during the debt ceiling negotiations, so score one for the octogenarians, but another four years? ... not to be morbid, but perhaps an upside to biden being elected to another four years is am suspecting such would lead to support for the passing o' an amendment xxviii calling for age limits for those serving in specific enumerated article i, ii or iii offices. HA! Good Fun! ps 'pon reflection, is no reason to not speak the silent part. "anti-establishment" insofar as rfk jr. is camouflage. the vast majority o' rfk jr. fans is people who thought covid were a hoax, that vaccines were/are a hoax, that fauci were selling a hoax and that lock downs and mask wearing (which americans never actual supported enough to be as effective as were the case in south korea, taiwan, new zealand or elsewhere)were authoritarian tactics used to promote the hoax. don't just buy the anti-establishment claims without considering the source.1 point

No need to apologize, you've been extremely helpful! I really should have tested the DLC myself but didn't bother. I wouldn't have known what to do with those string additions though so thank you for telling me. At least there weren't too many of them. I'm wondering why does overriding the exported folders not work? I saw some localization mods put the lax folders in them so I just assumed I could too. Oh well, I think I've fixed them all now. Of the companions the gameplay I've probably enjoyed the most is Aloth as two-handed Battlemage in his starting armor (with structurally stable for no Crushing AR penalty) and Heaven's Cacophony helmet as an off-tank. Conquerer's Stance for always on +10 accuracy and Tactical Barrage/Refreshing Defense + Spirit Shield/Mirror image/Alacrity/Spirit-Lance only take ~3 seconds to cast (these are the only spells I'd take as abilities and then I'd use grimoires for the rest, and ideally take the path that gives him -1s grimoire switch time) so he can quickly get to throwing Spirit-Lance Clear-Outs (with the option of Avenging Storm from Heaven's Cacophony), knock-downs, and 4th/6th/7th level spells from grimoires. Does a lot of damage and CC against groups of enemies while being quite sturdy (with wizard buffs and Int scaling for fighter buffs battlemage Aloth is tankier than Eder can hope to be in Deadfire). People tend to argue for using Xoti as a priest and while that's not wrong her single-class monk path ends up quite strong; really the only thing not to do with Xoti is multiclass. Xotis monk subclass is bad early game when you're spending 2-3 wounds instead of 1-2 for your abilities but late game 6 wounds instead of 5 for Whispers of the Wind doesn't even matter and WotW tends to kill people -> more wounds for Xoti. Keep it simple and use monk fists which are very generously statted while saving you upgrade supplies + Ajamuut's Stalking Cloak. Single-class monks as a base are just really good and she mostly just a bit worse in boss-fights where she can't get kills. Because I am incredibly lazy I just gave her heavy armor + Iron Wheel and a script to use WotW on the nearest enemy if she had 6 wounds and a a might inspiration.1 point

Please for one second read this. When the power droplet first came out I had went a grabbed it. I don't know how but some how on the run back to base it had gotten out of my inventory. I'm sure I ran out of backpack space, and may have confused it with an aphid honeydew and tossed it. May have ate it, I dunno how it works. But long story short I have Scoured the entire map, ran back in forth, taken meaningless diving trips. All in search of my power droplet, that I never even got to use. Please add a mechanic to recover lost trinkets, i beg of you end my pain. Please get ahold of me, possibly put one into my game. It is my first world, my only one I play on, back in beta.
