Finished Wo Long. Yeah, it's fine. Level design and story are poor, and combat is decent but could be better. There are some interesting systems at play with kind of Sekiro like posture bar, that also acts as mana for skills and spells - I really struggled to find use for those, and spending mana on emporing heavy attack just seemed infinitely more effective. Combat revolves around blocking enemy attacks, especially charged, red super attacks - unlike Sekiro those are parried exactly the same as normal attacks, so due to long windup and clear telegraphing those are more desirable than regular attacks - any more challenging encounters came down for me to figuring out what player behaviour is more likely to trigger enemy heavy attacks. There is also notacable lack of enemy variety. That is also amplified by simplicity of counter mechanic, that results in enemies feeling kinda the same to fight, no matter their apperance. The game has odd difficulty spikes, but for the most part the game is easy. Definitely the easiest souls-like I played.3 points

What the IWD games hammered home for me was that I really like inter-party interaction, even if it's often quite superficial. I just couldn't get into IWD2 at all, knowing that none of the characters in my party had a backstory or anything to say about anything.3 points

I installed a mod for that, there is an official IWD2 banter pack https://www.gibberlings3.net/mods/npcs/iwd2npc/2 points

One funny thing about this is that Putin appears to be establishing himself as a stooge of the east, at least to an extent, right now, these very days. It is true, though, that "east = China" but "west" is a more general term.2 points

Hey @Spider, our web developer took a look at this and said he was able to properly see the videos when he had the cookies accepted. Apparently the links also worked for him as well. He was wondering if you might try deleting your current cookies for the forums and see if it pops up the initial cookie banner for you to reselect the cookies and see if that works for you. Please keep us posted on how that works for you Thanks!1 point

Felt like it from the little bit I played. Alas, I can't be Inspector Tequila but with hand crossbows, but is mobile. Melee rogue didn't work well for me, had a heck of a lot of trouble with a boss (I think it was one).1 point
-
Pretty much, yeah. They play quite similar if you put a heavy focus on ranged abilities, with the biggest difference being that you can now also go full melee if you want. And no hand crossbows, from what I have seen1 point

You can't name your child Adolf or Hitler anymore around here. I mean, you can try, but it very likely will be denied, since that is a sure way of giving your child lifelong issues and trauma. If by chance your name is Adolf or Hitler (old people most likely), it will of course not get you into jail, but you can be prepared for everyone making fun of you in some way.1 point

Oh, absolutely. It would seem to me that with China, Putin is getting closer to an arrangement that is primarily in the interests of China and has little benefit[*] for Russia. We'd have to know the specifics of their dealings, of course, which we don't and won't, but there's no question about who's the stronger party there. [*] Benefit is a tricky term, though. I'm not sure if there's a legal definition, but the ordinary definition can be quibbled about forever.1 point

I assume D3 will enter maintenance mode when D4 is released and then slowly fade from the public consciousness. I played the D4 beta and it feels like a proper successor to D2 in many ways. I'd say it is arguably what D3 should have been... Thematically and in terms of atmosphere, but also with the more MMO-like open world, being able to see and interact with other players, etc. IMO that evolution makes sense for the series, and even Blizzard North was going in the same direction when they were developing their D3. Which makes the D3 we got feel like this weird crossroads game where they didn't really know what to do with the series. The always online requirement didn't really make sense for the type of game that it became, but it does for D4. The graphics style and atmosphere didn't match what people came to expect from a Diablo game after D1 and D2, so they stepped away from that and went back to the series' visual roots for D4... D3's gameplay felt great but chr progression was, again, not what many people expected / wanted, so they kept the overall "feel" of the combat but went back to skill trees with more depth for D4... Sure, we'll have to see how the paragon boards turn out, what they do with the battle pass stuff, etc. But my overall first impression of D4 is extremely positive after last weekend. I'm sure D2R will remain popular with part of the fanbase -- it's a great game in its own right and different enough from 3 and 4 to hold it's own place -- and some purists will never accept anything else as "Diablo" unless it is a carbon copy of that game's formula. It's in their best interest to keep maintaining and updating it for the foreseeable future.1 point

Heh, maybe the proper name is setAttributeScore. I don't 100@% remember because I only type "setA" and hit tab and the console completes the command for me. The drawback is that I don't memorize the exact commands so we'll compared to when I would have to type them out every time. I don't know much about adding food effects because I don't pay attention to consumables at all (somehow I never incorporate consumable effects into my game, some generic food that's readily available will do for me) - so that's something that I almost never test, sorry.1 point

The issue was the time after Putin, but I'm inclined to think your point might still hold: even after Putin, the Russian law may well be whatever the leader wants it to be. However, I would also agree with Zoraptor in the sense that while the law is malleable, it won't be changed or disregarded to the Russians' obvious detriment.1 point

Is setattribute different from attributescore? If I want to set my dexterity to 3 for example I use "attributescore player[tab] dexterity 3" And yeah removeability and removestatuseffect are useful. Opencharactercreation removes most abilities (some exceptions like ranger animal companion abilities) but it doesn't remove status effects like boons or food. Usually this is good so you don't have to reenter all the per rest bonuses, but sometimes you want different food bonuses for different builds. One thing I havent figured out is a clean way to apply said food bonuses. I can add the individual status effects for the food but they don't show up as an icon and say "name status error" in the character sheet. I can also add the food as an ability and click on it to apply status effects but the icon is an X for some reason1 point

AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative I'm saving this last screenie to use as a reaction picture, though I'll probably just crop it down to the speech bubble at the bottom: I could probably go into the politics thread and use it at least 20 times right now, but that would entail going into the politics thread and reading posts therein, and, dear God, why would I do that to myself?1 point

Still haven't popped positive for Covid, so that's to the good. Was able to take advantage of the weekend's good weather to get a good gunmetal base layer down on the armour, and then gloss clear coat it. Of course, then Monday unleashed torrential downpours. Partially cleared up today, but it's still dodgy looking for the rest of the week. My optimism is not being hugely positive that I'll be able to get the colour scheme and assorted knick-knacks in place before Star Wars Celebration.1 point

problem with abrams is that stupid turbine. Not many armors use tham as they are notoriously hard to maintain - thats the reason for complexity. Otherwise even 30 years old tanks usually undergo some sort of upgrades after those years1 point

It's against the Russian Constitution to extradite someone in those circumstances- and not due to Putin, the law was drafted in 1996 under that idiotic, but very much pro western, sot Yeltsin. Would be suitably typical if the first thing the west asked a new broom Russian President to do was to violate their constitution for their benefit. Even worse, it would instantly establish him as a stooge of the west. In this case, probably fair enough though as they're meant to be making the Abrams from scratch, hence the long wait time. Leo1s are, ultimately, a design only 4 years newer than the T-62s people derided Russia for reactivating. Most of the Leo2s are 2A4s, which are 30 years old. They will definitely be less complex.1 point

There is more of chance of me going on a hot date with Meghan Thee Stallion than Putin ending up in the ICC...especially while he is president But its the principle of the warrant that matters to me. Thats what is important. But this warrant puts SA in a terrible position for August. I hope they move the BRICS meeting to India or China1 point

Instead of using Character Creation and manually build your test char you can use setClassLevel and addAbility and give your test char all classes and abilities you want to test faster (or as an alternative for more detail/control). Due to the fact that you don't have to type the commands after the first time because you can use cursor-up and down to cycle through your previous commands and use tab to autocomplete your commands. With a bit of practice this saves a lot of time. Sometimes you don't even need to chance class. For example for testing passives you can simply add the passive ability to the character, no matter the class. Most passives don't care what class they are attached to. Like... you can test if a weapon works with Driving Flight even if it's not a Ranger. Some abilities are compositions of multiple "hidden" abilities. You then need to add all of them in order to get proper test results. Examples from the top of my head are Resonant Touch and One Stands Alone. In that case it may be saver to use the Character Creation. Also when you want to test empower mechanics the character creation is better because abilities added with addAbility can't use empower for whatever weird reason. In general I'd say if you want to test a whole character concept then the character creation is better, but if you just want to test singular aspects or only a certain idea about a character then setClassLevel and addAbility are better (faster). You can also remove abilities with removeAbility if they would skew your results (e.g. Heartbeat Drumming or Turning Wheel or the Helwalker passive often get in the way, or Carnage...). Subclass passives are also added with addAbility. They are usually named like the subclass itself (although several subclasses have additional abilities on top of the subclass-named one - example Streetfighter has three additional passives on top of his "Streetfighter" passive which does not do much). Your character doesn't need to have the right subclass in order to test subclass passives. However, for the proper ability tree display you can use setSubclass and see the correct tree. Always use tab to check out if a command and ability etc. actually exists. Saves you from guessing names. Sometimes it can make sense to raise or lower attributes with setAttribute. For example when testing out FF you can raise and lower INT and MIG and DEX and play around until you find the sweet spot. I think for getting into it the character creation screen is a great starting point.1 point

A fairly positive preview for Redfall, and even better they might be lifting always online requirement and no store or microtransactions. I am still scepting if multiplayer game will be able to support depth of the usual Arcane offering, and disappointing Deathloop has greatly reduced my expecations. Still, I am all for any good news regarding Arcane. An update on Jake Solomon. He is looking to open a new studio and work on some system driven "life simulator". He seems to be done with turn based strategy games. Firaxis allegiedly "is changing". Boy, that does not sound good. In the gaming industry things rarely change for the better.0 points

Tomo sounded familiar, so I looked it up and she is in fact the Villainess who is Taming the Final Boss. Unfortunately Jun is just the guy in JoJo who used Kraft Work and got shot by Mista. At least modern anime is consistent with American TV, where high school students look like adults in their late 20s. Because when I googled Tomo-chan is a Girl!?!?!?!?!, I was treated to an ad for a body pillow and a picture of Tomo-chan's boob enhancing bikini (made by Wiseman/Death Phantom for all potential BLACK LADY knock-offs) along with shirtless Jun, who is a jacked himbo on the path to becoming a gym god.0 points
