Linked In suggested a job to me. Part of the description: Sure. Let me apply. I'm sure there's nothing fishy and long term unhealthy about 'competitive' coding and four hour deadlines for your assignments every day. Sounds like perma-crunch.2 points

personal, am baffled by the point o' metacritic for pro reviewers o' media. the only value am having ever derived from critics is discovering one or two such individuals who appear to be simpatico with Gromnir's notions o' good and/or entertaining. warning: sweary once we discover personal useful critics, we read their reviews if am ambivalent 'bout a show or movie we has yet to see. otherwise... useless. meta? am not getting the value. HA! Good Fun!1 point

That sounds just as bizarre as that cannibal case Rammstein based one of their songs ("Mein Teil") on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes aka "The Rotenburg Cannibal"1 point

Well the HIM part of HIMARS is what makes them hard to hunt, I don't think the Patriots are as mobile and also are defensive so less proactive so to speak. Probably wouldn't be effective to try to rush it with drones or missiles but would be an easier attempt. Economist had a bunch of interview with Ukrainian officials and such, this one was interesting An interview with General Valery Zaluzhny, head of Ukraine’s armed forces (archive) "TE: What do you make of Russia’s mobilisation? VZ: Russian mobilisation has worked. It is not true that their problems are so dire that these people will not fight. They will. A tsar tells them to go to war, and they go to war. I’ve studied the history of the two Chechen wars—it was the same. They may not be that well equipped, but they still present a problem for us. We estimate that they have a reserve of 1.2m-1.5m people… The Russians are preparing some 200,000 fresh troops. I have no doubt they will have another go at Kyiv" Not sure if the talk of this second offensive is just more scaremongering for the wishlist.1 point

Russia does not have dedicated anti-air counter force, so their result maybe even less impressive as their HIMARS hunting. As anti-air platforms are usually in deep in enemy territory (especially long range systems like patriot) where only air force is able to operate with some efficiently and anti-air systems are designed to counter and destroy air force units. So it is quite suicidal job for anyone doing it.1 point

It's the worst kind of snow, too: that ultra wet, heavy crap that not only turns everything slick and slippery as it melts and freezes repeatedly, but also is a royal pain in the butt to move. No school yesterday or today as a result. Fortunately, Texas has had an excellent track record of handling freezing weather in recent history...1 point

It's 48 F / 9 C here, which is noticably colder than normal. Looks like it's going to hit freezing in about a week to boot.1 point

Power's been on and off all night, big blizzard for two days now. Was outside for like 40 minutes at about 4:30 AM when suddenly the power kicked back on, and wow, it's hard to really get a feel for light pollution until something like that happens. The transition from being outside for that long with only having that weird kind of snowfall light diffusion (where there's no apparent source of light yet everything has this kind of unnatural glow to it, almost like you'd see in video games in "dark" areas that aren't actually nearly as dark as they should be) to all the lights in your area suddenly roaring back on all at once makes it feel like you went from early morning straight to mid-day. Light pollution's no joke...and I barely live by anyone!1 point

Heh, I dont even answer my phone unless the number is already programmed into my contact list. T-Mobile is also pretty good with alerts like "Scam Likely" being displayed for some of the unknown numbers. Those immediately get permanently blocked.1 point

Yet again. This is interesting because it is so far from Ukraine and such an important facility.1 point

Good question... they have a thing with the French (not forgiving France for winning the 100 year war), but they also hold a grudge against Argentina (not because of the Falklands, but because of Maradona's "Hand of God")1 point

There is a great scene in the movie Timbuktu where they are arguing about French football and one guy claims they bought the World Cup from Brazil for a boatload of rice. I couldn't find it, but here is an excellent scene regardless. edit: We are watching this Friday in my classes.1 point

Some thoughts on High On Life. It's a first person shooter. The gimmick is talking weapons, primarily your gun, but you get a talking knife too. Once the talking weapon gimmick is no longer novel, you're left with a fairly plain shooter. It's not bad, by any means, and it's very colorful and kinda goofy, but, well, it's a shooter. You can lasso things to swing across gaps and also to hang from rails, sort of like in BInfinite, but beyond that it's a regular ol' shooter.1 point

We all know that Twitter is hell, Facebook is for boomers, Instagram is vapid, and Tiktok is mind-ravaging, but for my money the most unhinged social media is LinkedIn. I saw someone brag on there about cooking a chicken in a coffee maker to pocket the meal allowance given to them. So it only makes sense that the job offers themselves would be like that.1 point

Ever since FFXV's 150ish (w/the 60GB 4k pack), the occasional game/patch download is about the only reason I ended up caring about more than 50-100mbps net speeds. Well, that and sometimes Bokishi's screenshots. In another 10-12 years all mid-to-high budget/market game downloads will be 75GB and large content patches 20-30GB, minimum. It's outta control.1 point

Hi, for little micro best choice imho is Paladin. As others pointed out, racial godlike is not awesome, battle forged is maybe the only ability that scales enough well till the end, and a paladin fire focused is a beatiful role playing character to grow up. For "power" point of view, best are racial talent AND headgear, human from this point of view are great paladin, but there are some others choices in my opinion: wild orlan have +10 all defense when attacked on will, for a defense focused paladin is a good choice, costal aumaua have more defense against prone and stunned, not to forget, mountain dwarves have +2 con (good for sacred immolation) and defense against poison and deases (not very impressive but still a defense improvement). By the way, I played a sturdy nature godlike paladin and he was a very good tanker, if you build your character the right way racial is not so crucial.1 point

After the new update, a quest was given to me to scan lily pad wax as a Survival Quest. I already have scanned lily pad wax but the quest is still active. There is no option to rescan when using a resource scanner. When collecting new lily pad wax and attempting to scan, again the option is not available. Reloading the world does not fix. Not sure if this is exclusive to this resource or this quest. I do believe in the past when presented with one of these survival quests it would automatically finish the quest. P.S. This has become one of my favorite games. I've loved seeing this game grow so much over the beta through to alpha, thanks obsidian and the devs for letting the community be such a big part of that journey!1 point

The synergy isn't jawdropping in terms of the mechanics of Battle Forged I think, but thematically it fits very well. If you combine the Firebrand Great Sword (from Forgemaster Gloves and/or Belt of the Royal Deadfire Cannoneer) with any weapon focus, Two Handed Style, FoD, Intense Flames and Scion of Flame you will not only get more fire theme goodness but also pretty monstrous FoD-damage. Little synergy with Battle-Forged: the flame shield of the Darcozzi Paladin stacks with Battle Forge iirc.1 point

Split screen would be nice to some users. Such as console players who want to play with other people. This update would make many console players happy. I had bought this game to play with family and friends on xbox and I was a bit disappointed when there was no split screen I hope you add this soon Jarvi__S1 point

Senators draft bipartisan framework to legalize DACA recipients and extend Trump-era border policy (dec. 5) fast-forward to dec. 14 were predictable as the gop didn't wanna give democrats any kinda win on immigration. even so, is too bad even common sense immigration legislation is doomed 'cause o' politics. HA! Good Fun! ps a few democrats were also opposed to the legislation 'cause it would maintain, for at least a year, a few o' the less humane enforcement provisions adopted during the trump administration when dealing with those who cross the border between designated ports o' entry. 'course this were a year-end and last-ditch effort at compromise and seeing as how with the gop taking the house gavel in january, is tough to imagine a better deal anytime soon. regardless, were another shot at amnesty for dreamers wasted 'cause o' stoopid politics.0 points

Almost everything about The Northman felt bad to me, so that rating is honestly at least a little kind. Characters and performances that I didn't like, a story and themes that I didn't like, even visuals that I often thought were ugly and didn't like. At least Maverick had some pretty neat plane footage and plane action, which is something even with all of its other maladies. If it hadn't been for liking The Witch and The Lighthouse as much as I did, I would've have stopped watching within the first fifteen minutes...but I didn't, and that was obviously a big mistake, and also plays somewhat into how miserable the experience was. I expected Maverick to be utterly terrible, but it had very mild entertainment value; I thought The Northman would be good, and it had pretty negative entertainment value that I forced myself through, and as you know, I am quite famously bad at and very miserable when forcing myself through hours of something I am not having a good time with.
