Man, you are really delusional, you have absolutely no clue, how and when people are offended, and you talking bull****, that I did not care about what NATO did to Yugoslavia, and USA did to Iraq, is offending me to the max level. As much as it offends me, that someone tells, that I did not care what Milosevic did to Bosniaks, and what did happen between Hutus and Tutsis. **** is happening tens of thousand of years between nations, and dozens of wrongs in the past, still does not make what Russia is doing now, right. No amount of West blaming will wash the Ukrainian blood from Russian hands. The only one responsible for what is now happening in the world is Russia. Period. Because Putin attacked Ukraine, despite deal which has been agreed upon, between Ukraine and Russian ambassadors few days before 24th of February. The only thing what are you achieving with your whataboutism, is to approve all the ****ty unlawful conflicts of the past, because “no one cared” about any previous conflicts as well. And the same counts for all future conflicts. Whenever some idiot like Trump starts a new war in the future, everyone in the West, including their mothers, dogs and hamsters will be chanting “But what about Ukraine” back at you… so please, will all respect due, stick the “What about <insert random country>” somewhere, where the Sun does not shine, I am getting more and more offended by it…5 points

Is there anything more pathetic than thinking anyone who disagrees with you must be a paid Russian troll? Could it be hiding behind a publicly announced ignore and still- as always with such people, just grab Bartimaeus's script ffs it's there in his sig- actually reading messages and sniping away because you can't help yourself. Sheesh man, have some self control. Tell you what Lexx- or anyone else for that matter- complain to the admins if you think I'm actually a paid shill, or using morphs. Stop being a coward and actually make the accusation instead of just implying it so you can weasel out. If I'm not, you can post a public apology, or get one of the mods to do it for you if your battered ego can't handle it. No? Then you're a gutless hypocrite. Personal attack? Well no, objective fact really. If you aren't willing to back your words then you don't actually believe what you're saying but are still making accusations as red herrings, ie actual whataboutism. Also, massive over estimation of time required anyway, and, of course, always a giggle having Bruce say I'm never around any more followed by me being a full time Russian agent. (FTR I have a lot of under utilised time as I look after my dad who has dementia. Can't do anything for hours at a time that requires proper concentration and which can't be dropped at a moments notice, hence loads of things like gardening and yeah, mucking around on the internet reading stuff. Not something I bring up much for obvious reasons, only time I recall doing it was wrt Bruce Willis, since my dad had exactly the same symptoms) That's a massively long bow to draw from me replying to Bruce's obvious trolling by giving him an answer he couldn't troll back at- and was not directed at you at all. Let's be blunt though, celebrating the moral superiority and fantastic response Europe achieved by, uh, taking the 3rd world's resources is an absolutely terrible look for anyone not western. It's also hilarious when you're constantly told that colonialism is 'in the past'.3 points

And do you think if Putin hadnt throttled gas, sabotaged the pipeline and started trying to blackmail the EU using gas the EU would have found other sources of gas or be prepared to pay more than Pakistan and Bangladesh can pay? So who do we really blame for this gas shortage?3 points
-
Who has been impacted by the EU being responsible for " breaking" current contracts? Which countries and do you have links And why do you sound so mad, we dont hear from you for ages and then when the EU has avoided its " Western sanctions are going to mean the EU will freeze to death " Russian prediction you start posting again but you seem really mad ? You even playing the "Europeans pat themselves on the back and pontificate on their moral superiority over the rules based order " card Russia threw the rules based order out the window, now the West is forced to respond. I am glad you angry but your anger and criticism needs to be directed towards the right target, Putins War3 points
-
Whataboutism has a definition though, still amazed you people can't get that. He's never claimed they're not war crimes. And you have to admit the moral outrage is rather amusing when you remember things over a mere 30 years. Especially when he's talking to someone as full of **** as Bruce.2 points

For me, the most interesting phenomenon is the Westerner who lives in a Western society and is extremely cynical about it, often expresses some measure of sympathy and understanding of anything that countries like Russia do and never fails to bring up the injustices of the West. A person like this isn't necessarily a troll, a conspiracy theorist or someone who has swallowed the propaganda. It can be something else as well. This baffles me somewhat. Now, I am not blind to the injustices of the West, which are indeed obvious and manifold. But to constantly bring them up in a discussion expressly dedicated to the Ukraine conflict is just odd, especially if there is a simultaneous dismissal or denial of what Russia is constantly doing. I have seen rather a lot of this during this conflict, in many places.2 points

It's very interesting that those Western countries where the media environment looks most suspect tend to be the ones that are also suspiciously close to Russia. Hungary being the prime example. I find an awful lot to criticize in the Western media, US media in particular, but there's a world of difference between that and Russian media. It would be extremely interesting to get to the bottom of the Russian involvement in the US (media, elections, Trump, all that). But it's such a convoluted subject that I don't think we're going to know the details for a long time, if ever. But that is going to be one great field of historical study in the future.2 points

It was a good link you posted and objective But as far as getting support from the world thats complicated and what do we mean by that? Its not going to change the support for the resources for Ukraine or for the open support for Russia from the likes of Belarus or Syria. Its well known who is committed to what side and I cant see that changing because unless you involved in providing resources to either side what difference does a particular countries opinion make around who provoked who? Most countries seem to want UN endorsement which always surprises me because its symbolic. But the votes and resolutions have never gone Russia's way And as far as broader global support or criticism of the West thats nothing new. I live in a country where at least 2-3 times a month a political analyst or commentator in our media will blame " colonialism\Western influence " for civil wars or leaderships failures in Africa that have nothing to do with either. Its less and less as the years have gone on and more commentators will explain the issues in Africa are about reasons like bad leadership, corruption or rejection of governance and accountability But a certain small group still blame the West even when its not involved. I think this comes from reality of the history of Colonialism and some people are still fixated on that time period and ignore how things have changed and most of the problems in Africa are not because of Colonialism2 points

That's fine, the thread moved beyond prebuilts already as @Hurlshort is going to build a new PC with his son. As for using Linux, wow, I haven't used Linux since installing it on an old machine to use it as software router. I actually had to fix the code of a network card driver because kernel compilation did not go through. It was one of those cheap cards where changing the interrupt settings required DOS software. I plugged it into the old computer only to find out I had to change the configuration of the card from IRQ 7 back to IRQ 5 (I used the card in my regular computer and while it was IRQ 5 by default, that's where my Sound Blaster Pro lived), then was left with compile errors, fixed those, and I got lucky that it worked, because I had no real idea what I was doing. That was before 2.2 came out, or perhaps close to the actual 2.2 release, and a couple of years after my first attempts to get the system to work like I wanted it to. Good old times. Nothing beats that lovely KERNEL PANIC prompt after you've successfully ruined your installation by going through an insane configuration file (or an even worse guided text prompt where you had to go through the 500 options every time you wanted to change something) to add a driver you wanted. The most fun thing I managed was to make IE 4.0 run with Wine, then I had to run away from the Linux missionaries because they kept yelling BURN THE HERETIC.2 points
-
@BartimaeusI'm not a fan of the Linux missionaries myself. I use the OS I use and I'll throw in a joke or barb whenever the opportunity present itself, but I'm not here to convert anyone, I don't care. Being zealous about it is probably counterproductive anyway. I've detailed this thread long enough and I have no input on prebuilts since I've build all my desktops for the last 2 decades+. So, please accept my apologies and carry on.2 points

The "funny" thing is, that the retaliation was planned well before Kerch Bridge incident. As soon as October 1/2, when Surovikin was appointed as the commander, as a show to appease the military bloggers and their ultranationalist followers/sponsors... Kerch Bridge was just a scapegoat. And it is as much possible, that it was not Ukraine, as it is possible that it was Ukraine, who did it2 points

Hellraiser (1987) & Hellraiser 2 (1988) The first is a classic for a reason, in many ways it is more of a dark fairy tale warning us of the price to pay for desire than it is a monster movie. The Cenobites themselves have only two victims, while most of the body count in the movie is racked up in service of Frank escaping the torment he pursued when he thought opening the box was just going to let him **** a succubus. The second isn't as good, but is still better than all the sequels before the new one dropped. It goes more into creature feature with the introduction of the Doctor and does some exploration of the cenobites, but not enough to go into info dump territory. Seen together they're a solid block of horror.2 points

Well, it's not the case that it's either a warzone or there is no shootings. People saying the perception is that every city is a Mogadishu in the 90s is wrong aren't saying it's all roses. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I thought both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided were good but not great. It felt like MD was a step forward and a step back from HR. The boss fights were a big improvement but the story was just kinda... Nothing. In the end it was kind of just pointless filler and you wound up in the exact same spot you started. It was basically the stupid side quest from The Last Jedi in video game form. The gameplay was good, though, and I was able to pacifist ghost the entire game, so thumbs up for that.1 point

gop embraces the crime issue but is not as if they got solutions: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/10/20/oklahoma-debate-stitt-hofmeister-crime/ “So let’s talk about facts: The fact is, the rates of violent crime are higher in Oklahoma under your watch than in New York or California,” said Hofmeister, who is Oklahoma’s superintendent of public instruction. “That’s a fact.” Stitt interrupted twice to protest that it wasn’t true. “We’ll have that fact-checked by the Frontier,” said the moderator, Tres Savage of the nonprofit news outlet NonDoc, referring to the routine fact checks conducted by another independent media site. What was not shown at the debate was that Hofmeister was correct. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Oklahoma has a homicide rate of 9 deaths per 100,000, compared with California’s rate of 6.1 and New York’s rate of 4.7. ... have pointed to fact many times how fbi crime rates is generated by self reporting state and local. those law enforcement departments fill out surveys and offer feedback on a voluntary basis and they do not necessarily follow fbi guidelines with much concern for accuracy. as such, national crime stats is not only a couple years remote but they is at best a useful general guide for trends as 'posed to set-in-stone facts. even so, those fbi numbers is the best option we got and those numbers show that during the covid year o' the trump administration, crime stats (violent crimes) increased and they has recent begun to turn around, but not in a few key municipalities... and not always the municipalities you might s'pose. regardless, crime increases were a thing even in the most red o' states and towns and is not as if the gop has real solutions to offer what appears to already be trending in a positive direction regardless. that said we observed how from the start, post floyd, the defund the police nonsense were democrats and libs punching selves in the face. clear to us were that folks such as aoc and the squad didn't actual live in the neighborhoods where crime were always a primary issue. the nyc mayoral campaign shoulda' been a wakeup call for progressives and democrats in general, but it wasn't. tough on crime has always been a positive selling point for gop and democrats, which is why so many tough on crime dems rose to national prominence based on their prosecutorial efforts more than their social conscience. klobuchar and kamala harris literal built their careers by being tough prosecutors. not outliers. none of which matters. the gop has generated a crime talking point which real or not is perceived true by too many americans for democrats to be taking lightly. the facts don't count for anything if people believe something different. americans watch fox and local news and and their fave internet sources tell 'em that crime and homeless encampments is a threat to their safety at the same time they hear a few lib voices, voices decided not biden btw, suggest defund the police is a solution. worst part for democrats were the stoopid phrase: defund the police. could'a made the issue 'bout de-escalation efforts and increased funding for mental health training and initiatives, but somehow the libs embraced a tyson fury approach to arguable legit problems. aside: the notion a majority o' americans is concerned overmuch 'bout border security is nonsense. the border is a key issue for gop voters 'cause trumpism tells adherents border security is a major problem. *chuckle* is also noteworthy that given concerns 'bout inflation from both libs and conservatives, a serious influx o' people willing to work sh!te jobs for less money would be one o' the few options other than altering interest rates which could improve the inflation situation... and sh!te-for-pay workers woulda' been far less likely to cause a recession than interest rate manipulation. at exact the moment we needed people willing to work crap jobs abandoned by americans during the pandemic, we got people willing to work those jobs. efforts shoulda' been to get as many o' those immigrants working legal 'stead o' trying to score political points. in any event, reality o' crime is not meaningful if americans believe crime is an issue. gop post trump has been focused on generating talking points instead o' solutions while divided democrats sabotage their response to key issues. is all so predictable tragic and ordinary. if gop had real solutions the situation would be less grotesque, but complaints 'bout defund the police is not a solution. red states such as oklahoma is facing same crime issues as the rest o' the nation and folks such as desantis playing fast and loose with crime stats is so not a solution. doesn't matter though 'cause while the current gop don't have solutions, or any kinda meaningful platform, they is far better at generating outrage. with inflation where it is, generating outrage were not gonna be difficult, eh? HA! Good Fun!1 point

Fancy not liking noodle neck Caraxes. I suspect whoever animated him must have worked on Jurassic Park animating their Diplodocus as a childhood dream and been absolutely shattered when told that scientifically necks can't move like that. I'm certainly not over keen on their dragon design, but that's mostly because I prefer six limbed dragons (ie 4 legs, wings separate) to hybrid legs/ wings. HotD S1 was definitely less good than GoT S1, but then GoT S1 was very good. It also had certain 'structural' advantages in terms of having a starting point a lot closer to the action than (as previous) HotD had, and having a backstory specifically designed around drip feeding exposition organically (ie things like Jon's parentage). If they'd started with young Ned and young Robert just after the successful Robellion the first season of GoT would have had similar problems. And I can't see a way they could have done HotD differently without... dunno really. You'd have to have some sort of massive exposition about how the situation came to be, and they didn't seem keen on going the ~pr0n route GoT went for many of its exposition dumps. The result is, fundamentally, a bit of a mess in narrative terms but the only way it could be avoided I can see is not to adapt the story. And it's nowhere near bad enough I wish it wasn't made, rather the reverse. I thought there was a definite feeling of 'impersonate the GoT character' type direction for a lot more than young Rhaenyra. You had Rhaenyra <--> Daenerys Daemon <--> Viscerys (II/ Lloyd, not Considine) Larys <--> Littlefinger Otto <--> Tywin and Alicent <--> Cersei. Even going so far as having relatively minor character parallels like Westerling <--> Selmy. To be fair to them though that's the sort of thing I always look for.1 point

Thats such a good read and excellent news for the EU , here is the same link outside the FT https://internationalaffairs.co/the-end-of-europes-energy-crisis-is-in-sight/ Best part of the article " It goes without saying that the tumbling cost of gas was neither Putin’s intention nor the consensus expectation when the Russian president weaponised European gas supplies during the summer. At the time, sector specialists expected wholesale prices to shoot higher and industry was worried. The voice of German industry, the BDI, warned of a “massive recession”. It was economists who came closest to understanding the likely effect of Putin’s energy aggression; people and industries tend to respond to price incentives so they predicted that consumption was likely to fall " Putin must be seething, his gas blackmail has really failed and created new avenues for the EU to find new markets1 point

Agree on separate trinket and glider slots, as they have two very different functions/uses, and are almost always both needed. Most inventory issues could be alleviated if they made items equiped to the Hot Pouch not take up Backpack inventory space, similar to how armor and the trinket slots function. That, and if something breaks it stays in the slot but is unusable/doesn't give perks, and not defaults back to the backpack or worse drop on the ground.1 point

I love the addition of peeping mobs to add them in data to check weaknesses/resistances, but its only a one time feature; going to the data tab, scanning through every similar looking mob card can take time. I think that peeping mobs should be able to quickly open their specific data card to see weaknesses in the heat of the moment to effectively counter every enemy.1 point

Since there's a lot of talk on fast travel, I would like to suggest something that keeps in the spirit of the existing zip lines while making them more functional. Using materials such as the pinecone, gunpowder, gum nugget, and maybe a manta claw, a zip line cannon/launcher could be built. It could use the aiming function of the existing turrets, while following the placement rules of the zipline wall anchor. It could have an increased zoom or camera moves to where the anchor would be placed, perhaps like the third person camera, so it could be fine tuned across the map. The "ammo" would be either lint rope or silk rope, and the distance the anchor would be placed determines the amount needed. The idea would be that the zipline launcher could launch a zipline for the player to ride (either up or down, depending on if that trinket is released where you can ride up ziplines) anywhere and not have to pre-build an end. The end anchor could be either released from the launcher itself or at the end. Logically it would make sense to only be able to release it from the end, like you would have to unhook it. But for QoL, it could just be video game fudged to be able to release it from the launcher, like if it was just stuck with gum, you could pull the rope. Another thing could be be added would be if you release the zipline from the anchor end, you could zip back with it, like it's pulling you back to the launcher. This would be a way to fast travel back to the launcher if the player is unable to ride ziplines uphill. There could be different buttons to differentiate between release and release-and-ride, or just make the release a button press and release-and-ride a button hold. The map is small enough with plentiful materials to build zipline anchors pretty much anywhere you want to already, but I think the Community would enjoy this option that keeps with the idea of building upon what you already learn in-game, and not making the fast travel seem too cheesy, like with the ES:Oblivion uproar of just teleportation fast travel or WoW flying mounts. Thank you.1 point
