  6. Thank you guys so much You are so kind. While I agree with the fact that you reply when you wish, I can also see that when there are 100 people and each DEMAND a reply (even though you do it out of goodness of your heart and they do not understand that you are under no obligation to do so and they should be thankful if anything) it could get very tedious, very quickly. Also, Boeroer - great detailed tips as always, the blackened plate is exactly what I will be aiming for and really fits the build. That is more than I needed, I cannot wait to play this bad boy, it should be a ton of fun.

  7. It is both, lack of quality, and we are getting older. My gaming preferenced changed very minimally compared to 20 years ago, I am still big RPG and racing nerd, but the overall quality of big games is getting lower and lower. Square Enix was once my favourite game maker, but with release of Lightning Returns, the games they offer are just to much different from what I am expecting from them, so I have stopped buying their games. Same with most AAA studios. The only exception would be Bethesda, because their non-core studios still offer what I love about gaiming. Unfortunatelly I have to wait few years to see it on GOG, and after the MS purchase, I am kind of worried, that the Doom 2016 and Eternal will never get on GOG Anyway, what the AAA is lacking, can be found in AA and Indie games. I just have to dig deeper to fins out the gems I love, because there is to big quantity of games nowadays. And there are always some japanese series, which have not disappointed me yet (Yakuza, Atelier, Tales of, Dark Souls etc...), so I really had absolutely no need to buy a single game from AAA publishers since few years...

  8. Apart from the fact that European defence spending on the whole was in seeming terminal decline up until the annexation of Crimea and the the shootdown of MH17 gave European governments the kick in the pants nearly three whole US presidential administrations had failed to do, and that the character of US foreign policy ever since Obama's second term has been one of disengaging with European matters (arguably the biggest factor in softening the US position of JCPOA in favour of Iran were European negotiators, their reasons misguided or not). This is reflected by the fact that China remains top of mind for the Biden administration (only one CVN is in the Mediterranean as opposed to the two CSGs and one ARG currently in the Western Pacific) and they've made abundantly clear that it is unlikely that any wider American involvement is forthcoming (barring, well, I don't know, Wagner Group or other thugs wantonly marauding west of the Dnieper), all but stating that if nothing else Europeans themselves have to take the lead on this. Face it, Putin is the best advertisement for NATO membership among Russia's near-abroad. I hardly think escalating in Ukraine to keep it from joining NATO is a good trade if it drives Sweden and _Finland_ into NATO's arms and adding 500+ miles of frontage with NATO countries with no love for the Kremlin, are highly motivated, armed to the teeth, have high degrees of interoperability with NATO, and are also less than 100 miles from Russia's _second_ most important city.

  9. Most of what I recommend to you wasn't received well, so I was joking about you eviscerating my taste lmao. I don't have a preference in regards to art style beyond CGI IS BAD (IT IS), but in terms of content I tend to gravitate towards some weird ****. Aggretsuko is sometimes light to enjoy but not get terribly invested in. That's not saying it's not good, more in that its strength is more in how low-stakes it is. Another one down, soon this whole thread will be JoJo fans. Because it sounds vaguely inappropriate or because someone else will watch JoJo. Both work tbh. Maybe it's because you watched it at 2x speed, but several characters in Devilman Crybaby were.

  10. I don't have that much of a history... my first two movies were (IIRC) Akira and Ghost in the Shell and the first show was Macross. Not that I knew they were "Anime" mind you (it would be another 20 years before I heard that term, as well as "Manga"). The latter showed on TV back when European countries first started getting access to satellite TV (mid to late 80's I think) and for me it was just another cartoon, with space travel and giant robots involved. I think I'm going to check out JoJo's bizarre stuff next (no release dates for Mieruko-chan s2 nor Fire Force s3)....

  11. When I play contemplatives I usually set STR around 15 (with Helwalker you'll be able to add another 15 to that!) and put the rest into DEX, PER and INT. I usually keep CON flat at 10 and dump RES (as low as you are comfortable with). With Barring Death's Door and Salvation of Time you'll be able to take a pounding.

  15. Joining Nato needs change in Finland's constitution and in order to do that parliament needs to have 2/3 majority and then next parliament needs to also vote for change with 2/3 majority. Or parliament needs 5/6 majority to change constitution without need for next parliament to accept the change. Or government can organize constitutional referendum. There is no 5/6 majority that supports the joining to Nato and referendum seems hopeless considering that only 25% of people support joining to Nato, so if government wants to join the Nato they would need to take risk and face election after starting unpopular change in constitution.

  16. hmmm. we woulda thought a grenadier + trickster would be kinda ideal. chuck holy bombs with ridiculous high crit chance and sneak attack damage? take four levels o' underground chemist? have personal avoided trickster 'cause along with merged spellbook angel is kinda the cheese route, but am thinking you should be able to do trickster and bomber. @Agiel did the full trickster run so perhaps he has thoughts. HA! Good Fun!

  17. When in armor (I would aim for plate, even the Blackened Plate, because you know: Breath ;)) you want high DEX. Else your reactivity is too bad. MIG can be mediocre bc. Helwalker, PER doesn't need to be super high (bc. Blessings and Devotions). From a roleplaying perspective I would have highish RES. It also helps with shrugging off afflictions and other hostile effects faster. As a Helwalker too low CON isn't great. If you pick the Iron Wheel path you can go lower. As a Helwalker I almost always pick the "Tough" ability no matter the route I take with Duality of Mortal Presence. Also if you start with Breath Blessing points and the merchant you can have a Greater Amulet of Health which helps a lot in the early game with a Helwalker (and not stellar CON). All in all I wouldn't minmax this guy much in terms of attributes. Something like 14 to 16 as higher values and 8 to 10 as lowest ones. With Berath Blessing points it's of course a lot easier to achieve a good balanced attribute spread (I mean not going below 10 but still having some high numbers) bc. of the +2 to all attributes. PS: don't feel like you are bothering anybody with your questions. If we wouldn't want to answer questions we would either just not reply - or not be active in these forums in the first place.

  20. Biden has promised to appoint a female PoC Justice. White House Confirms Biden Will Pick Black Woman For Supreme Court. Here’s Who It Might Be. It should be interesting to see how this plays out during the nomination process. Presumably Biden will want to pick somebody who can still win the moderate Democratic vote while playing to the Progressive wing.

  21. @xzar_montyHey thanks! Worked on it on and off for about a week (hey, I wish I had Darkergrey's work ethic) so it's hard to say how many hours in total I spent on it. Initially I thought Aivu would be the toughest part of drawing it (as I am not a scaley), but as it turned out Arueshalae's outfit turned out to be what vexed me most, taking two scrapped passes until I finally got it right.

  22. I'm so sorry, but I actually recall this now, and I'm afraid that I did not ever actually watch even two minutes of it. My answer was a literal response to your rhetorical question, i.e. "what could go wrong if you watched this". That's exactly what *could* go wrong...but it didn't, because I didn't even try it. Once again, I am so sorry. Sort of, . Don't let my terrible betrayal affect your sleep! P.S. My old posts are disasters due to me habitually removing all my Dropbox links. Context becomes much harder to understand without all the linked images...

  23. Quick reply, clock just struck 0300, more later... but yeah, you had a run of particularily bad films and asked if anyone wanted to suggest something bad too, and I went for MD Geist II because that's actually even worse than the first one. I still love it, don't get me wrong, but it's... bad. Looks like I lied, it was two minutes.

  24. I did? The name did sound vaguely familiar, but more in a "I found this online and immediately left the page because it looks like unappealing trash" kind of way than "I actually found a copy of this and watched it for sixty seconds before never watching it again". It's been about a decade, so I'm not certain. ...Of course, the second show was released just slightly over a decade ago - naturally. Nah, of course not. I always forget how extreme that scene was. Even Chibi-Usa preceding it looked pretty shook, and she hated Usagi at that point. Yeah, they did well with how little they had to work with, . And then Crystal also did the absolute best with all the resources it was given, except kind of the exact opposite of that. History repeats itself! They absolutely are - no need to think about it. ...I was about to ask whether a single girl watched any of those shows, but then I realized my own sister watched Naruto, and I guess I have to reconsider. I guess there was probably at least one girl...statistically speaking, it's likely at least...

  25. SSD's, when they work, are for me the preferred boot drive. However, I don't keep much important stuff on it. Every now and then, the documents and settings folder gets copied both to an external USB HDD as well as an FTP server (a habit of mine that predates stuff like OneDrive, I-Cloud and Google Drive by decades) as a precaution. I have a repair disk on a USB stick too, if I need to rebuild it on a new drive.

  26. Maybe you've been doing this guy an injustice, as he was actually being ironic when he said it, and it was in fact a deep-cut satire of the people he purports to speak for? Oh, screw that, that's even worse! Is even anime no longer sacred? No more multiple timelines, people - all it means is bad storytelling and obvious retconning. Stop it!

  27. I wonder how many here remember the "good old days" of 8 bit computing, when the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum 48 were competing for the customers attention (and money)? In the early 80's, there were a number of one man armies (Jeff Minter, Andrew Braybrook, Sid Meier, Bruce Carver and Mike Singleton) which produced a disproportional part of the "good" games of that decade. Eventually it turned into another Hollywood, with publishers becoming larger and larger and developers becoming less and less independent, as the budgets and financing costs sky rocketed. There's a difference between providing cash flow for a 1-3 man company and a 100-1000 man company. The tested and tried (and sequels and imitations) were in and innovation was out The last games that truly excited me were probably games like the Master of Orion, Fallout, Baldur Gate, X-Com and Tomb Raider. Since that time, good games have been released intermittently, but expectations and excitement for upcoming releases has been in constant decline. Doesn't mean a game gives me a pleasant surprise and I've played fun games since, but expectations?... nah. Edit: I'll shamefully admit, I don't remember the name of the guy at Cosmi, who did such classics like Caverns of Khafka, Aztec Challenge and Forbidden Forest (the later is to this day the only video game that genuinely gave me goosebumps and cold sweat). He did game design, game development, the graphics and coded the effin music. One man army indeed. Edit2: Google is my friend, his name is Paul Norman.

  28. Sounds like one of those "it forces you to like it because you like what it's used in and it's used appropriately" situations I've talked about in the past, e.g. with Samurai Champloo's intro music, . I'm trying to think of what my very specific favorite aesthetic is, but I'm not entirely certain. Oh, wait, no, now I am since I thought about it: the childhood sections of Only Yesterday (which are slightly distinct from the adulthood sections - they have a more surreal and hazy memory-like look to them and it seemed like everyone's faces and body shapes are a little softer and more cartoony than the adulthood sections of the movie...even for the adults of her childhood, like her parents). I still use this silly dance/exercise gif (which is also coincidentally recreated twice in Steven Universe - once in season 1, and once in SU:F) as my avatar in some other places: It was also a nightmare to make it just how I wanted it, and I still didn't quite get there due to size limitations, but it was pretty close. So that receives my vote for favorite aesthetic...uh, whatever that is, . Elicits a very..."memories of a life I didn't and couldn't have ever had" feeling, . You can also probably thank Only Yesterday for me being open to Sailor Moon's art style, because Sailor Moon season 1 has that same sort of odd, indistinct surrealism while also sharing a similar color palette and style of backgrounds to Only Yesterday's childhood sections (albeit much more simple - the style is what's important to me, not necessarily the level of detail!). I'm trying to think of all the gay characters that I've seen in anime shows/movies I've watched. Haruka and Michiru in Sailor Moon... Maya was implied to be in Neon Genesis Evangelion, I guess, but that's a little bit of a stretch. There's also Tomoyo in Cardcaptor Sakura, but she's like thirteen and that's a whole different thing. Um... One of the main characters in Tokyo Godfathers...uh, I think. It's a little confusing, because they're also transgender... Maybe there's someone else I'm forgetting? All in all, not like your typical obnoxious or unrealistic ones that you typically see in anime. (e): Also, possibly Shinji. Hey, don't blame me he willingly got into a bathtub with Kaworu while ignoring Asuka - it's not my fault! Well, then the show would be over awfully quick and without any fuss or muss, wouldn't it? ...Oh, now I remember why I don't like it when a whole bunch of pointless and repetitive action is horribly drawn out and framed as if it were important! Can't help but notice that shoujo has a tendency to do the opposite and underframe with its action...except for Utena and Lady Asuka, I guess. Have you ever heard Weird Al's "Talk Soup"? There's a couple parts of the song that go something like "I'm just an anorexic, co-dependent, bingo-addict stripper born without a chin", but you should definitely replace that with something like "I'm just an anti-vaxx, Bible-thumping, Libertarian, Trump-loving flat-earther shell of a man" for me, because that's totally accurate, . Think I'll skip MD Geist. If I'm going to watch 80s trash, at least give me a half-decent relunctant action lady instead of boring macho hero action man, . My sister loved Fullmetal Alchemist...and she also loved Naruto. Terrible person as far as I'm concerned, . She once tried to get me into Fullmetal Alchemist, and I made it approximately five minutes before some shonen starting shonening the whole place up, and I had to call it quits.

  29. You have a good point. And I'm not blaming the companies entirely. Yes indeed my own preferences as well as my choices re. what to spend my free time on have certainly evolved with age. But TV shows is where I can clearly see a definite pattern of fewer and fewer shows to watch with each passing season. Granted this is significantly affected by my unwillingness, thus far, to subscribe to streaming services, and that quite a few shows I would watch are locked behind those paywalls. A great example is the CBS show "SEAL Team," which for years was my #1 drama show on TV. But this year they moved it into Paramount+, and so I have lost my favorite show as I won't be subscribing to Paramount+ just for that show.

  31. No comment on Boba Fatt, I stopped caring about anything Star Wars well over a decade ago, but these points you bring up mirror my own criticisms of the vast majority of movies, shows, and vidya games, for that matter, about age of sail pirates. They almost always present this weird romanticized version of pirates. Oh they're crass and rough on the outside, but they have a heart of gold. No! Pirates are terrible people. They're criminals. They loot and pillage, they murder and rape. These people are not heroes, they're not even antiheroes, they're scum.

  32. Recommendation for Katana Zero - it's a 2D murder-simulator level-clearer a la Miami Hotline, albeit sidescrolling instead of top-down. Plus the music sounds like this: https://wicrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/katana-zero-original-soundtrack Recommendation for Shenmue III - it's just as gosh-awful as the first two, so if you love those, you should love this one too, .

  34. Losing the ability to stand on walls affects MANY THINGS! I have half wood walls around the tops of all my bases.. and overhangs.. Normally, I can stand on walls to shoot at Creatures underneath.. or at the bottom.. (as half walls are aesthetically pleasing.. they prevent this.. as your vision is blocked.. and.. you can't see through them.. this also affects Building... (especially building UP!) That's a Huge deal.. This also Breaks bounce towers.. (I know.. they were never intended..) but it was a cool thing players discovered.. and works.. really well.. Many base builds.. and.. Zip Towers.. (which many of us have put Countless hours into) utilize all of these actions.. Shooting arrows from atop our bases.. building.. upward.. at all.. and.. yes, bounce towers.. As it stands.. if any substantial damage happens to any of my towers..(rolly polly?) I can never repair my Zip Network.. (Ridiculous amount of hours invested) I can't even stand on my mushroom castle walls or battlements.. This Breaks the Game.. In Several Ways..

  35. Many of us suspect armor upgrading is coming. I'm hoping they add armor customization as well; color, patches, etc. To build off your idea succulent needles could be used a crafting material (sewing needle). As we now have two advanced versions of arrows there comes a point where we don't really use mite or gnat fuzz much (or at least I don't). We already have a spinning wheel but maybe we could build a loom and craft fuzz into cloth for armor customizations. If weather is added to the game we could have to make items to keep warm or winterize our bases.

  36. Made a Watercolor converter file for Photopea. Double-click the thumbnail of the "Portrait" layer. This will open a smart layer tab in the program. replace the Calista image with your desired picture (can remove the background with https://www.remove.bg/) Go to file->Save(Smart Object) (or press ctrl+s) and then go back to the Deadfire Watercolor Template.psd tab. Might have to tweak a few things to get it to look right (altering the properties of the "Level 1", and/or Gaussian Blur effect strength, will make the lines darker/stronger). When you are happy with the results (or just want to preview it) go to File->Export as->PNG and change the dimensions to 90px by 141px. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well. The below were all made with this file, all except 2 required only minor edits.

  38. Oh, I wasn't even aware of these. *shrug* people who like a challenge, or people who like a well balanced experience, won't choose them. People who are too busy, like god mode, or are experimenting with weird options, can use them (as well as the console). I don't see an issue. It's not like I need to prove to anybody that my achievement badges (whatever they are) are real or whatever.
