  2. Happy New Year Deadfire Enthusiasts, Elric inspired me to finally do this exercise with his very interesting class tiers ranking. While there seems to be already a pretty good consensus regarding the top classes for Solo in the base (vanilla) game, I thought it would be interesting to look at how BPM might change certain dynamics, with the critical nerf brought to the cheesiest of abilities. So for full clarity I'll try to do first a recap of top Solo classes without BPM, then my interpretation of the changes brought by the full BPM complement (buffs, nerfs, summon rework). Additional notes before starting: This is assuming usage of the Community Patch. This is valid for Real Time With Pause, I don't know about Turn Based. This is for Soloing on PotD (Upscaled) Difficulty, the full game and DLCs and some (in some cases all) megabosses - but not considering The Ultimate which is its own animal. This is not excluding cheese (though BPM will de facto exclude some). I consider some level of cheese to be fair game in Solo HOWEVER, I'm not considering builds that require Strand of Favor to be viable. Because then it would be easier to list the few classes that cannot become Solo beasts with SoF abuse. I'm blending Single Classes and Multiclasses altogether because here there is no consideration about party synergy, saving a party slot etc. Just pure Solo effectiveness. Also, I'm not mentioning every single class combo, just focusing on the most salient. Most importantly, this is really not pretending to be a perfectly exhaustive, objective and accurate class ranking in such a complex game system... So please don't take this as me trying to impose my limited understanding of the game on you, but rather trying to engage in a good discussion with the below blurb as a starting point. ----- TOP SOLO CLASSES IN BASE GAME WITHOUT BPM ----- 1) SC WIZARD (BLOODMAGE) Unsurprisingly, it is the strongest of all by a huge margin, because it has so many mind-blowing tricks available from beginning to end. The true god of cheese in the Deadfire if there ever was one. Infinite spells potential from level 1 with Blood Sacrifice. Has a tool for every situation with Grimoire Switching, concentrating some of the best offensive and defensive spells in the game... ...even more so with Grimoire Imprint spells, giving the opportunity to permanently cheesy-steal any and all Tier 1-7 Wizard, Priest and Druid spell - each stolen spell becoming usable indefinitely. I realize using this simple and hugely powerful bug might be very controversial but its existence is undeniable - and Wizard remains hands down the best class even without it. Can prolong any positive effect indefinitely with Wall of Draining or stealing Salvation of Time from a Priest. Can become immortal with Barring Death Door and of course straight-up untargetable (invulnerable) forever with Constentin's Temporal Cocoon trick. 2) SC ROGUE (ASSASSIN) AND SC MONK (NALPAZCA, FORBIDDEN FIST, HELWALKER) I put them on an equal footing because Assassin is OP from the very beginning until very late but requires additional tricks (Arcana / Alchemy / Brilliant) towards the end-game in certain SSS, FS and a few BoW fights. On the other hand, Monk starts rough unless playing a max RES Forbidden Fist (for instance Helwalker will have to start with a lot of sneaking around). But as you gain Power Levels - especially the last few Tiers - and gather critical items, Monk will become a self-sufficient killing machine. Both SC Assassin and SC Monk also bring unique playstyles and game experiences. SC ASSASSIN: Invisibility lets you reset 99% of fights (without Berath's challenge activated), to pick enemies as you please and set your own pace. Vanishing Strike gives invisibility that doesn't break (OP on its own, insane with Brilliant and total godhood with SoF). Incredibly potent offensive abilities, with special mention to Gouging Strike that can trivialize the vast majority of encounters from level 5 on, including some of the hardest foes. SC MONK: Very powerful and synergistic abilities, creating even stronger synergies with specific weapons and items. Whispers of the Wind + Resonant Touch = "I Win" button. Infinite supply of resources (including infinite summons). 3) THE MANY FACES OF SOLO MULTICLASSING AWESOMENESS They are in no particular order, all being very strong. Not elaborating too much on each otherwise this post would be turning into a book. BLOODMAGE/TACTICIAN - On-demand Brilliant with Chillfog, unkillable Battlemage with Unbending + WoD, play bowling with enemies' faces with Spirit Lance + Clear Out. ASSASSIN/TACTICIAN - Kaylon's Glimmer Man Sniper Build. Never stop neverstopping & sniping. Invisibility + Brilliant Tactician interaction. BLOODMAGE/PRIEST - Unkillable with BDD, SoT, WoD, can self-buff to oblivion while still packing a serious punch. BLOODMAGE/PALADIN - The Lord of Defense, getting every defense past 220 and AR in the 20s. While having tons of heal and all the Bloodmage offense. ASSASSIN/BLOODMAGE - The most offensive Bloodmage out there, using invisibility to rinse & repeat, and the Assassin's stellar ACC to land critical spells. BLOODMAGE/HELWALKER - Helwalker gives big bonuses to everything a Bloodmage loves. And then there is Spirit Lance + Stunning Surge. BLOODMAGE/DRUID - Drown the battlefield in waves of overlapping pulsing AoEs, cast Combusting Wounds + Infestation of Maggots; watch reality melt around you. BLOODMAGE/TROUBADOUR - Use summons as distraction to cast in peace. Animated Weapons are immune to cold damage, and Wizard has the best AoE cold damage spells. BLOODMAGE/PSION - Beautiful action economy: cast some wizard stuff while generating focus, dump focus on an impactful cipher power, repeat until things are dead. PALADIN/TROUBADOUR - Loads of permanent healing, high defenses, summons, brand enemy... sit back and relax. It will take a while, but the outcome is inevitable. ASSASSIN/CIPHER - The Megaboss Killer. As an arquebus build, has an answer to almost every tough situation. A bit of Arcana is required later on. HELWALKER/TROUBADOUR - Start fight from stealth, summon stuff to keep the enemy busy then stun them all with Mortar Stunning Surge + Invocations. You can do that (and other things) forever. TROUBADOUR/PSION - Awesome action economy and interaction between infinite summons from stealth and Pain Link. Constantly regenerating resource pools. PRIEST/BELLOWER - Kaylon's suggested build, coming to full fruition pretty late (Least Unstable Coil + Her Revenge/Her Tears + SoT) but with amazing benefits. BERSERKER/BECKONER or TACTICIAN/BECKONER - Grave Calling's Chilling Grave + Grave Bound + Confusion abusing build. Can be done with other Chanter/xx combos... in any case if your GPU allows it. FORBIDDEN FIST/SOUL BLADE: As DGray62 pointed out below, FF subclass adds a lot to the survivability of the character, with its powerful enfeebling attack that can be infinitely spammed that also heals you and generates resources. OTHER NOTABLE BUILDS THAT I DON'T KNOW THE FULL SOLO POTENTIAL OF: Kaylon's Berserker/Devoted with Lord Darryn's Voulge, Powerotti's FF/Steel Garrote, Boeroer's Bloodmage/Ranger. Probably many others that I don't know about or have forgotten about. Happy to edit the list if you have other thoughts. 4) SC CHANTER (TROUBADOUR) I want to mention it here because I'll talk about it with BPM and because it's still a viable, if only a bit boring, way of Soloing the game. Requires Berath's challenge enabled - using traps or the double Alt key trick to start the encounter in stealth and keep it going is huge for a SC Chanter. Possibly supplement with high Arcana to go faster in tough fights. There is just no real reason in Vanilla to chose SC Chanter for soloing over all the awesome multiclassing opportunities available, as Chanter really peaks at Tier 7. 5) OTHER SINGLE CLASSES AND MULTICLASSES Many other classes can do fairly well at soloing most of the game, but they will need extensive save scumming, arcana, metagaming to have a chance at hard fights as you hit DLC content. Cruising solo through the "easy" parts of the game can give a false sense of power, and then you hit something like Trial of the Nagas in FFF or basically any big fight in FS and the seemingly strong solo build is... humbled. ----- SO WHAT CHANGES WITH BPM? ----- Among other things, the nerf component of Elric's BPM aims at preventing abuse of Blood Sacrifice, Brilliant, SoT, SoF, WoD, Unbending and BDD for a more balanced (less cheesy) game experience. So anything Priest is going to take a big hit, Tactician and Bloodmage are going to take a hit as well (Bloodmage/Priest = ouch). On the other hand, resource regen classes (and Chanters in particular) become more appealing. Here are the most notable points according to me: SC BLOODMAGE/WIZARD NO SUBCLASS: It was already so far up that it remains the absolute strongest class, notably because it can continue to cheesy-steal all kinds of spells for permanent use - so WoD/SoT/BDD nerf don't really matter with a bit of adjustment. It's easier in a semi-solo run (i.e. where you can temporarily hire companions in the tavern to steal their spells) but it is very viable in a full solo run too. Just requires more metagaming. You can have unlimited summons that are remarkably good at level 7 (Minor Grimoire Imprint on Ancient Druid for Summon Sporeling) in particular thanks to BPM's Summon revamp. You can still have unlimited buffs, Shadowflame, Freezing Pillar, Crushing Doom etc. and still some nice Priest and Druid stuff up to Tier 7 spells. You can still use the Temporal Cocoon trick to become untargetable, just not forever. Minor point, BPM also buffs Tier 9 Llengrath's Reflection which becomes very very useful in certain fights thanks to targeted spells reflection and AoE spell resistance (the Spell Resistance passive is also buffed). Finally a great defensive tool for mage fencing. The truly interesting thing is that No Subclass becomes much more competitive than before at high level, because of the Blood Sacrifice nerf and the rework of Empowerment passives. It might be even on equal footing with Bloodmage - unless you truly want to replenish often Tier 8 and 9 spells (which is now more risky to do). SC ASSASSIN/ROGUE: Is comparatively better than before (again, excluding SoF) because invisibility abilities are now less expensive, Great Soul gives +1 Guile and Wall of Flashing Steel can give partial resource regen. SC MONK: Stays basically as strong as in Vanilla. SC TROUBADOUR: I think it becomes comparatively a lot more appealing for Soloing because of: The change to Great Soul (giving a -15% phrase duration buff) while Brisk Recitation without Great Soul is put at 4s. The buffs to Empowerment passives (empower = staple of any chanter) making them really good investments. Also, the buffing of summons including the Dragon and to a lower extent the rework of Boil their Flesh give more arguments to go SC. STRONG SOLO MULTICLASSES: In general, multiclasses involving resource regen - Chanter, Monk or Cipher - become comparatively even more appealing than in Vanilla. Chanter gets a really good bump because certain "cheap" summons become really great (upgraded Wurms, Drake). Troubadour takes a little hit with Brisk Recitation at 4s now vs. 3s, but I think it's still the best Solo pick in most cases (if only for added flexibility). Multi with Bloodmage/No Subclass Wizard remains very good especially if you want to build around using mostly infinite Tier 1-3 spells and cheesy Minor Grimoire Imprint. As said before, Tactician (if relying on Unbending) and Priest builds take a hit; especially Priest. ---- That's all for now! Looking forward to hearing thoughts and reactions. I hope I won't get insulted too much.

  3. Happy New Year to all. Let's hope it's a slightly less world "eventful" year. ...maybe moving will be the small little kick I need to get me out of my seeming life-doldrums. eg, could be best year ever! ...for some reason my brain is telling me that I kinda wish I could be around for 2222, because I missed year 1111 and it'd be weirdly cool to be in a year with all the same digit.

  4. Just watched Soylent Green. It's set in 2022, so with the new year upon us, I thought I'd get a peek at what is in store for us. If the movie is anything to go by, we're in for more mask wearing and supply chain issues.

  5. Minor remark : Strand of Favor abuse and similar effect don't work with BPM. Minor question : have you tried using Potion of Enlightenment component of BPM ? This potion is very expensive for every fights. But it provides +1 ressource every 30s, so I expect it would affect balance between classes a lot. Anyway, thank you for every element of visibility you give to my mod. It's really rewarding to see people using it and liking it.

  8. HA! Good Fun! ps the way rich folks in the US screw the system is either they pay enough to keep their dirt from ever being made public or once their actions is revealed, they take advantage o' a legal system which very much favours defendants and then hire the absolute best legal representation possible. try and imagine all the unlikely events necessary to make an epstein murder-in-jail possible. a jail suicide takes creativity and is obvious not gonna be a drug overdose kinda thing. go ahead and try and hang or suffocate somebody w/o defensive wounds. try and pay somebody who is likely an ordinary jail guard and NOT a contract killer to hang or suffocate somebody, and then hide any kinda money trail. etc. US and ny is not like china or saudi arabia or russia where there is control o' media and a system already in place to protect those in power. if there were a sudden change in jail personnel, such would be discovered and if media were prevented from discovering, that would also be news. and if you think the trumps or clintons have some kinda undue influence, the problem is there is just as many powerful people in the US who woulda wanna see trumps and clintons caught and they would be using their influence to make wrongdoing public. is not as if there is some weird pattern o' US epsteins neither. how many people has made extreme public accusations which has damaged famous people? quite a few. again, is the fact maxwell and epstein were able to get away with their shenanigan for years which is the kinda thing rich people in the US is capable o' doing to cheat justice.

  11. It refunds 1 spell of 1 tier at random for each class ressource (as for Brilliant, but without tier restriction from CP/BPM). It doesn't add 1 ressource on the 0s tick. It might not be enough for solo, but may help sometimes.

  12. Yes, that's why I wrote that Assassin is better with BPM than Vanilla if you exclude SoF from the equation, as SoF isn't cheesable in BPM but turns any SC Assassin into a god of murder if you abuse it in Vanilla. I haven't installed it yet, but it's a good point and I will. I need to practice it and see how it concretely affects resource management. 1 resource / 30s is nice, but a lot of things can happen in 30s when soloing... For casters, is the 1 resource a refund on all spell tiers or just one spell of one tier? Of course, thanks for your continued efforts to build this great mod!

  13. I'd add FF/cipher (preferably soul blade) as a solo viable multiclass. As you note, Not So Clever Hound, the FF subclass adds a lot to the survivability of the character, with its powerful enfeebling attack that can be infinitely spammed that also heals you and generates resources. It doesn't work as well in the vanilla game, but shines with CP and the BPM.

  14. Afaik lashes count towards the dmg threshold a Shattered Pillar has to deal for a wound. And afaik Swift Flurry/HBD procs do not. So Lightning Strikes should be the better pick. And if you value wound generation over focus generation then your Shattered Pillar/Cipher should pick (CP's) Biting Whip?

  15. But that's still disregarding the fact that SCs gain access to impactful, higher tier abilities a lot earlier. Since the game is about progress from lvl 1 to 20 and not just a snapshot of a finished lvl-20 char this is important imo. Again the Psion/Troub example: A SC Psion gets Puppet Master a lot earlier than a Psion/Troubadour. And Puppet Master can be a game changer if I can access it early. Same as Devotions otF with an SC Priest compared to MC Priest/whatever. There are of course character combos that are absolutely great as multiclasses and SC chars that aren't great at all. But all those different aspects makes a generalized ranking kind of impossible imo. It's more easy to do a well-informed "my favorite classes" ranking imo that doesn't try to be super objective in the first place but still can show some interesting and important viewpoints and arguments.

  19. Out of all things Nanoha I've watched at this point, and I'll leave out the two films for now because I really don't think they're going to be better, the only part of the franchise that's worth watching is StrikerS, and I have no idea how well that works without watching the prior two seasons. While Nanoha, Fate and the Belkan Knights are more or less side characters with a decent amount of focus in StrikerS, what they go through and do is still most likely better when having gotten to know them earlier. Therein lies an issue that as a whole make me unable to recommend the entire franchise. While I would disagree with the assessment that the Nanoha franchise was made solely as a magical girl alternative for perverted 30 year olds, it certainly contains elements that spin the idea of fanservice way too far, particularily in its first season (and episode 5 was made for perverted 30 year olds), and in the first ViVid season. StrikerS on the other hand does have some nudity even outside of the transformation sequences, but it's only there when it makes sense (medical checkups, by far and large), even if it all still could probably have been done differently. I'm fairly sure that my assessment of StrikerS as a whole is correct, given the fact that fans of the first two seasons and anime fans in general complain(ed) very vocally about the pacing and how there's not enough action in the series, and that it got 26 episodes where 13 would have sufficed. Yes, 13 episode would have been enough to transport the main story, but not everything the showrunners wanted it to transport, and were actually pretty sucessful at transporting. StrikerS has like 10 protagonists, or at least the four main characters and a often focused on larger supporting cast, and Fate and Nanoha are arguably main characters too, and after the 26 episodes I ended up more or less liking each one of them (in spite of starting out not liking Erio, Teana or Subaru for somewhat obvious reasons). Instead of rushing the character development, they rushed the story conclusion by the end, cramming too much into the final six episodes, even resorting to phoney feeling exposition once. But it remains, quite frankly, quite a feat to give the large cast of protagonists their time to shine, their time to develop, some time to breathe and eventually a satisfying conclusion. Except perhaps for Nanoha and Vivio, where the final fight vectors off into silly Sailor Moon story episode territory. It also comes the cost of having the least interesting villain, but Presea Testerossa from the first season wasn't special either. Hayate and the Belkan Knights are what made A's more interesting than it would otherwise have been. Overall, it's not a total loss, and StrikerS was pretty great, if you look past it's downsides and the franchise it is attached to. Which is somewhat hard to do, and definitely not for everyone. Or probably anyone. Heh. Yeah. No point in hiding the thread for me, I know it's there, even if I don't see it. There's not much left, only two movies, and they'll have characters I like, at least, so unless they're completely incompetently made the worst is behind me. Yeah, famous last words and all that. Heh. Re: muting sound, yes, that could be a workable option, but that would kill the only thing I'm sort of enjoying about watching Komi, and that's Tadano reading what Komi wrote out aloud, which is more helpful than you'd think with the learning the language thing. I'm not sure that tradeoff will be a net positive, but I can try.

  20. I was super confused for a minute here, because I was pretty sure nobody had posted in the political thread over the past few days...and then I went to go check to see what was going on in there and couldn't even find the thread. I then realized I must've re-enabled my filters sometime in the past few days, which explains why the thread is missing entirely. Working as I intended when I created the filters, I suppose: out of sight, out of mind. It's unfortunate that uBlock has a tendency to break linked videos on here these days otherwise I'd have them enabled more consistently...but I disable them to look at a video and then I forget.

  22. Yeah, I guess I don't do well being bored. I get in a very negative state of mind very fast if I'm not mentally engaged at least a little. The good news is I'm not the type of person that ever gets bored...so long as I'm not forcefully subjected to something I want no part of. Being in an endless dark void where I only have my own thoughts and naught else still sounds significantly more engaging to me than this latest Nanoha incarnation, . It's not great news you still have a little more to go, though... As for Komi, have you considered just...muting the sound? I've done that before when a certain character has annoyed me too much... Ah, I was thinking more of the dreadful moment-to-moment stuff and the entire thing seeming like a whole pile of mostly nothing wasting your time and draining your will to think or live rather than any of the "big" negative moments like that. "Beg for death...and I'll make it quick." Some generic Shadow Thief combat line, I'm pretty sure.

  24. Depends on the country. In the USA and UK, power and money (same thing in some cases) tends to be in the hands of old white guys. In Saudi Arabia, sure, a sheik could probs make you disappear. EDIT: whereas in China it might be dangerous to talk about a former communist party leader, for example.

  25. I think the 2 main qualities of MC are : - Better Passive / Self Buffs because you pick the best ones from 2 trees and I don't think Tier 8 and 9 make up for this. Pal Aura, Chanter chants, Fighter modals and Monk whatever... It works even without synergies, especially when it adds up to party strength. - More ressources. This is striking with Martials. 11 ressources vs 9+9 for MC. That is significant only because ressource limit is a factor. Classic casters have usually enough spells for an encounter, martials have to save them a bit more. I think this is the contrary to what previously stated : SC tend to be better at performing a couple of stuff, while MC tend to be more well rounded. Passive and ability to perform longer always work in the background in favour of MC. SC Druid is better at launching one big Maelstrom while Helwalker/Druid is going to be better at almost everything else. That said Maelstrom still often worths it ; lifegiver/Helwalker might be better though because these twins are sooooo convenient for Lifegiver, etc... Trade off, trade off... Both are very good anyway.

  26. The entirety of episode eleven is spent on Fuu and Rinne beginning to brawl, instead of having a martial arts fight, as things move beyond silly things like getting stronger so nobody ever looks down on me again or I HATE MYSELF. Rinne helpfully begins to see images of the past flashing her by, she works past her issues and for the first time in forever actually smiles, which Fuu rewards with a knockout blow, having achieved her goal of beating sense back into Rinne. Meanwhile her coach realizes that she's been torturing Rinne and pushing her beyond her mental limits for nothing else than her own ambition after a permanent injury forced her to quit shortly before a title match. Rinne sees her dead (adopted) grandfather and he says おめでとう (congratulations) to her. Okay, no, the last part was a joke. It's a metaphor for Rinne letting go of her anger and finding her way back to the light side of the force, or whatever you want to call it. I can't help but acknowledge that there's been a decent amount of setup for this particular payoff, it is just mired in an otherwise boring series. Two former friends beating the friendship back into each other isn't something very creative or original in itself either, but there's nothing wrong with the last two episodes once you forgive the anime for making Fuu capable of standing up to Rinne in the first place, which realistically shouldn't be possible. It's fine though really, and it's still a magical girl martial arts show. I just hope the final episode of the series (or the third OVA afterwards) doesn't contain a ludicrous bathing scene. I'm also a bit surprised that the show took a turn like this, in the beginning it really looked like this wouldn't be a street fight but simply the finals of the tournament. Nothing is out of place or heaven forbid original, but hidden somewhere deep inside of all of it are themes similar to the ones in StrikerS, except everything is executed in a less well crafted way. Which sadly means that no matter how the final episode or the OVA goes, there's really no point in watching this unles you have a whole lot of time to kill and want to watch a girl waffle between hyper-focused shounen dolt, Shinji and something in between for a bit. Caveat: This comment was made in contraxt and in a context with Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid, so I am perhaps overrating it simply because the former was nothing but offensive and poorly written, animated and directed. Now all that's left is to see if Einhart will give Rinne a title match regardless of not meeting her conditions. No, because the OVA is spending two or three minutes detailing what went on. Rinne became champion after Einhart moved to the under 19 category undefeated (which I suppose implies that she won her Winter Cup final match against Fuu that is never shown on screen). Now Rinne and her coach invite everyone to... their gym's medical and R&R place. It's summer and there's a beach ressort. Ah well, guess it had to happen eventually, eh? Time to see how bad it really gets. Well, it's a beach episode, but even compared with the shower scenes already in ViVid Strike! this was by far and large harmless. How odd. Also, you'd think an episode dedicated to doing nothing much would be fun, but then they went and had a beach volleyball competition that was just plain boring. Eh, sure, I'll take anything over the sexual assault madness from ViVid. That's one done and dusted. Final verdict: There's no reason to watch it, unless you're seriously bored and want to... experience more boredom for a minor payoff at the end.

  27. Players tend to value character synergy over party synergy. Which is a mistake imo when it comes to "power". For example it feels cool to use a club + modal in the offhand to lower Will by 25 points so that I can hit better with my Draining Touch in the right hand. Or I use a Morning Star + modal to lower Fortitude in order to land my Brute Force attacks better. But this all could be done faster and more reliably with two different party members. Like a Black Jacket who switches from club + flail setup to morning star setup and lowers three defenses - while two other chars focus on the Draining Touch and Brute Force game. Spares a ton of time. Character-contained synergies might be cooler, but they are not necessarily more effective than party synergies. Most of times the party synergy has way better action economy for example, it can have better impact bc. of deeper specialisation and higher power level, too. I also support @theleestatement that often a multiclass can't give your party a better advantage than two SC chars. Sure, if you want to fill your party with a certain set of roles or combos you might lose a spot. But that assumes that a SC char cannot fulfill different roles at all - which is not correct in most cases. Meaning that you don't necessarily lose a spot when picking two SC over a MC if the SCs aren't one-trick ponies. What they lack in versatility they can often balance out with better action economy (e.g. using Druid & Priest to buff up the party in half the time a Druid/Priest can), higher PL and earlier access to higher tiers as well as access to the most powerful abilities while also being able to either specialize more (e.g. letting the Druid do the healing and maximize MIG while the Priest only does buffing and can drop MIG entirely). I played a run with Troubadour/Psion and one with SC Psion and a SC Troubadour in the party - aside from making it more difficult to fill the roles (but manageable) it didn't make my run more difficult. I'd say it was even more effective. There might be one downside though: I think multiclass characters are more interesting and fun to play. SC Psion was dope (especially with Shared Nightmare + Ringleader, jeez) but essentially a little boring. Psion/Troub was very fun. Like an SC Fighter with a Morning Star and Clear the Path + an SC Barb with Driving Roar are a devastating combo late game, but a Brute is just more fun to play even still. At least to me. Of course the situation is vastly different with a solo character. And of course there are a lot of synergies that only work with multiclasses - especially when only effects are involved that target your char alone (see Wizard self buffs for example) I just wanted to point out that using two SC instead of two multiclasses doesn't mean that you really lose a spot in the party. You may lose some efficiency in one role (e.g. dealing dmg) but you might balance that out with better action economy and more efficient role fulfillment (e.g. buffing).

  28. biology 101 every living thing's purpose is to survive as long as possible. the virus that survives the longest is the virus that does not kill the host and even better if it's harmless enough to not provoke an immune response, so the natural evolution of all viruses is to eventually become as harmless as possible. think of how many types of symbiotic microbial life exists in our bodies, many of these started off as deadly pathogens. a virus like ebola that has a high mortality rate can kill off a population before it has a chance to evolve into a milder variant so that process for it is very slow but for a virus like covid19 that already has a very low mortality rate, this evolutionary process is very fast as indicated by the very mild omicron variant (which is the 15th letter of the greek alphabet, which would imply that this is the 15th known variant in under 2 years)

  33. There are so many fun options with SC wizard. It's definitely worth purchasing a skaen priest hireling to steal these spells with ease. I also like to steal Taste of the Hunt, for the nice heal and raw DoT effect.

  34. I like Captain's Banquet for casters, for the combo of the action speed bonus and the +20% spell bonus. Since I always have someone spamming chill fog, and since the AI always causes someone to run right into them, the immunity to intellectual afflictions is great too.

  35. Yeah. I guess, in a sense, at least we can also attribute it to 2021 instead of the new year, which would've been a terrible way to start 2022. She was seven years Anne Frank's and Martin Luther King Jr.'s senior...man, that's old. To have your full mental faculties during that entire time and then die peacefully in your sleep one day near your 100th birthday...better than any of us can hope to expect, that's for sure.

  36. i wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life another way to look at is is that she made it to 99 and looked like she were enjoying life far more than most folks we know in their mid 80s... and some in their 70s. from our pov she won, as much as anybody can win. HA! Good Fun!

  38. I think it's good that Ghislaine is going prison, or jail or whichever one it is, forever, but also I kind of wanted her to roll over on every single rich and powerful rapist that she and Epstein ever enabled, even if that meant she never went to prison. I understand her desire not to get murdered, however.

  39. That's what I saw him in first (as well as Claire Foy, whose performance as Anne Boleyn was despicable and yet somehow still elicited an awful amount of sympathy on my part - she was great in the first season of The Crown as well), and I saw a couple of other things he was in afterwards as well. Yeah, great show, supposedly they're making a second part to the miniseries at some point, but there's not been much news as of the last couple of years...have to wonder if Covid silently lead to its cancellation... It does sound like a very American kind of film.

  41. Adventures (and several other event types) are created on a timer: the stronghold periodically updates itself and a base adventure event is instantiated at this point if there is no current base adventure event already instantiated, with the adventure set to start a couple of turns later. This is also when the two random integers are generated (these can be considered fully random for all relevant purposes). The type of adventure is determined only when it starts, based on your Prestige at that time. But since the random number part of that equation is set well in advance, reloading to a slightly earlier point will not change the tier of the adventure unless your Prestige changes (sufficiently). The specific adventure within that tier that you get is determined when it starts though.
