So far it's very recognizably Evangelion both in terms of style and tone. I'll have to sit through a long ass movie before I can give a final verdict, because if there is one thing quintessentially Evangelion, it is having a very bizarre and polarizing ending.2 points
-
Well so far if you managed to watch Evangelion TOS and End of Evangelion I don't think you'd have any trouble with the content. Like there is some stuff that can be read as more explicitly sexual/romantic but with few exceptions it's not stuff that wasn't already there and the main antagonist of the series is less ambiguous than in the anime, but if you've already seen the anime you know he is the bad guy. At the end of the day it's still about depressed teenagers fighting monsters in robots while some absolutely weird **** goes down. If anything would turn you off it's the cgi, which isn't great at all but I was able to get through it so far. 3.0+1.01 (which is 2.5 hours) could completely change this though, so if I come back even crazier than before you can rest assured Rebuild will drive you to madness. I guess we'll have to wait and see.2 points

The slaw was not sweetened at all, it was more zesty than anything else. Also, this wasn't from the truck stop. I had enough time to drop my trailer at the truck stop then bobtail 3 miles down the road to a BBQ joint and back. I don't always have that luxury and have to settle for whatever is at the truck stop.2 points

When Miyu was in the parallel reality thing, it was not a model scale city with an oversized Buddha statue, but a regular sized warped looking city with a giant massive Godzilla style Buddha statue. The writers really dropped the ball on this one, or perhaps they struggled with meeting the deadlines, because there's also a lot of freeze frames with sound effects (and one that even repeats). Either way, the result was the first ungood episode, to use some newspeak. Here's to hoping it will stay the only one. The past two episodes also had somewhat uncharacteristic decisions by Miyu. The Shinma that accompanied the writer didn't really do anything, and that his wife died was an accident, and Miyu has often enough by now decided that she can let demons go as long as they're not harmful. Then there's the old guy from the weird episode, he's like the prime candidate for her "Eternal Happiness" kiss of death, instead he's now homeless and still implied to be working on his model city for no reason. Indeed, it's been going a little faster. The past few episodes felt a little less draining. By no means less tragic, but people inexplicably started surviving their ordeals much more often. I'm just imagining how this airs on TV and some random family catches the first two episodes with their kids and then gets treated to war, death, tragedy and destruction. Maybe you should counter that by watching more Cardcaptor Sakura. It gets occassionally sad, but everything will always definitely be all right, just like Sakura told herself in Dream's reality/foreshadowing. Clearly I can't. I can't decide what's worse, the horrible auto-tuned singing, the production quality problems of the song, the lyrics* (provided the translation is accurate) or the fact that this group won the first Love Live! because µ's didn't participate. That can't have been the only entry, right? *The content of the Japanese ones, not how funny the English parts are. The other song on the show by A-RISE has "non-stop my dancing" as English lyrics, which is somehow even worse (but I linked that as example of fanservice a while back). Then there's the fact that some people enjoy this enough to make color-coded music videos showing who's singing. Don't get me wrong, I have seen worse animes than Love Live! and every now and then it was really enjoyable, but... nothing of it is outstandingly good, and it's also not a case of where the sum is greater than its individual parts. I have successfully pretended these films don't exist so far. I feel the cracks in this belief forming already. Sigh.2 points

The perfect Druid subclass would be Watershaper because of the foe-only Chillfog (blinds) which would be perfect for this class combo. You can get that via mod or console. Ancient would have the Sporelings to help with flanking. And Sunbeam can be used to blind enemies temporarily. But those are not phantastic options so maybe you either go with scrolls or explosives to flank (distract/disorient/blind) enemies or you use special weapons: Hand Mortar (Blinding Smoke): can be used with high INT and decent ACC to flank enemies. Every crit of the AoE blast wil trigger a blinding smoke cone(!). This often leads to all enemies in the AoE getting distracted. It even works with Clear Out if you put a melee weapon or bashing shield into the offhand. Then every hit roll of the Clear Out come will proc a mortar blast - and every crit of those mortar blast rolls will proc a Blinding Smoke cone. This is almost a gurantee to distract everybody in front of you while also dealing a lot of damage. Just never use the Powder Burns modal because this will prevent Brilliant. Interrupting enemies with Clear Out might also give you back Discipline on top. Whispers of the Endless Paths with Mule Kick: You can disorient everybody in the cone-shaped AoE of the attack. When interrupting enemies' action that way you'll get Discipline (so it's easy to do this over and over again because Mule Kick is so cheap) but it's also easier to "flank" all enemies with Mule Kick then, triggering Brilliant. Also WotEP is an excellent weapon to use with Taste of the Hunt. Every enemy in the cone will suffer from the strong DoT of Taste of the Hunt (the healing will only get applied once though). Maybe there's other weapons that can do similar stuff which I now forgot about. But the good thing about the two I mentioned is that you can get them very early - so you don't have to wait to play the char as intended. Until getting the weapons you can use Sporelings (later too, of course - Sporelings are great tankers at higher levels because they'll have very long duration and you can apply Wild Growth on them which has no duration). --- So my ideas would be: either try Watershaper or Ancient with Hand Mortar+whatever melee weapon - or with WotEP.2 points

LOL, it’s been what three days since I last took a rhetorical whipping? Four? Actually that is the exact kind of statement that would infuriate Gromnir because it’s fairly absolute even if it isn’t completely wrong. let me tell you a little secret about him. He probably figures I take a good point and go way too far with it. And he wouldn’t be wrong. But I also think he agrees with me in principle a lot more than he lets on.2 points

[CLASS BUILD] UPDATED - The Bleeding Arcanist 2.0 Subclass: Blood Mage UPDATE: Following my initial post I did another solo playthrough, 100% completionist this time and improved on a couple of things I wanted to share. Sorry for double-posting, I couldn’t edit my original post… Added A LOT more details about no-rest bonii, more specific ability/spell picks and Megaboss strategies. Sorry for the wall of text! Hope this is interesting or useful to anyone considering a pure class Bloodmage solo playthrough. I very much recommend it with this build or any build. The Concept: Sturdy, impossible to interrupt, versatile, no rest solo Blood Mage who can win 100% of fights in the game with the most explosive and rewarding barrage of high level spells (thanks to Rekvu’s fractured casque + Vaporous Wizardry Grimoire), but can also enter easy & cheesy god mode for Mega Bosses and such (through his Blood Mage abilities + Wall of Draining + potion of final stand etc). He also has tons of skills & utility so it doesn’t feel like a very restrictive power-build, and scales really nicely throughout the game. Works with latest updates and DLCs as of v5.0.00040. I recommend the Full Community Patch and the No Forced Rests mod (otherwise just metagame around them, it’s fully viable but just a bit annoying). POTD Solo: Yes, very much. Two playthroughs completed with a lot of flex/forgiveness on how you want to play (upscaled: untested but definitely fine with an optimized spell list & strategy at all times – less experimentation possible). Companion: Nope -----WHY PLAY THIS BUILD------ For lots of veterans this will likely be a no-brainer and sorry if I sound like Captain Obvious, but I wanted to post this build as I haven’t seen this one consolidated anywhere, and I’m having so much fun with it. Really brings back the feeling of power and adaptability that a solo Sorcerer could give in BG2, or solo Mage in Arcanum for example. It also plays a bit differently than your typical SC Wizard in POE 2 because you have a lot more spells to cast, don’t rely on Nina’s Teachings and you don’t take the Empower abilities… which is liberating. You can really approach each battle differently while keeping a nice feeling of power and very high defenses (until a random enemy transforms you into a piglet out of RNG luck). SC Blood Mage = maximum class power/ability levels, no empower, blood sacrifice hurts, bloodied enemies are a pain, but if you work around those issues you have virtually unlimited spells which is really strong. Then you need to mitigate the tradeoffs: Go for lowish Might = you will hurt yourself a bit less with Blood Sacrifice, without much impact to your damage output + you can spend the points on more relevant attributes. On the other hand, pumping CON a bit brings some nice sturdiness/peace of mind to this build, which also bolsters experimentation (you're not a glass cannon, just a cannon). Rekvu + Vaporous = 50% more spells, no interrupt, turning most fights into a total spellfest! Very little opposition can still stand after some crazy self-buffing, several Chill Fogs to blind & group everybody, Combusting Wounds, then 3x Wilting Winds (of Abi Dalzim or whomever) + 2x Meteor Shower – mix as required. Your Vaporous Grimoire comes with the answer to the Injury issue: chain-cast necrotic lance outside of combat on your toon (spell comes with the book) and you will inflict the Acute Rash which has very little impact on your combat readiness (you can use Voidward to mitigate, but it is not required). Cherry on the cake, you can exploit the different buffs available to a no-rest run for your full benefit, and end up with insane stats and permabuffs (more than making up for the Acute Rash minor injury). If any other injury comes up: pop a luminous adra potion/bath, chain-cast necrotic lance, done. More details on no-rest bonii later on. Finally when you need even more firepower, you can still rely on high-level, matured cheese strategies: wall of draining, potion of final stand, Brilliant proc from shroud of phantasm, blight proc from belt of magran’s chosen, True Lover’s Kiss from Lover’s Embrace… and other shenanigans. Immortality and chain-casting Missile Salvo until the end of times. -----STATS------ Race: Human (maximize accuracy and damage output when it really matters / when you have to cheese) Background: The White That Wends – Explorer (great mix of important stat boosts) FINAL STATS WITH ALL PERMABUFFS AND NO-REST BUFFS AS OF 5.0 (without combat buffs): MIG 13 (7 Base + 1 Human + 2 Berath + 1 Gift from Machine + 2 Alchemic Brawn) CON 22 (13 Base + 2 Berath + 2 Alchemic Brawn + 2 Konstanten Boon + 3 Girlde Eoten CON) DEX 20 (13 Base + 2 Berath + 2 Alchemic Guile + 2 Firethrower Gloves + 1 Boots of Stone) PER 28 (18 Base + 1 White that Wends + 2 Berath + 1 Konstanten Boon + 1 Effigy: Sagani + 2 Alchemic Guile + 1 Savage Cunning + 1 Cauldron Brew + 1 Kuaru’s Prize) INT 25 (17 Base + 2 Berath + 1 Konstanten Boon + 2 Alchemic Wits + 2 Charm of Bones + 1 Kuaru’s Prize) RES 19 (7 Base + 1 Human + 2 Berath + 2 Alchemic Wits + 2 Nature’s Resolve + 2 Rikuhu’s Blessing + 2 Eviee Pet + 1 Boots of Stone) ADDITIONAL PERMABUFFS: Adratic Glow All Trainings Dawnstar Blessing Hylea’s Bounty (best food for this build) Luminous Adra Potion Nature’s Resolve (Accuracy) Savage Cunning (Survival) Galawain’s Gift x3 (Acc. against beasts) BERATH BLESSINGS: I like everything that reduces Port Maje tedium and provides long term power (Infamous Captain etc). I am not ashamed of investing all 105 points. BUT none is required to win with this build. SKILLS: If you exploit the no-rest bonuses to their fullness you will have free extra points everywhere, plus the free Berath ones if you enabled them. It will be BOTH a spellfest and a skillfest! I typically spread around a bit for skill checks, with a focus on Mechanics, Athletics, Diplomacy, History is the highest at 20 (giftbearer cloth) and Survival. Mix of story stuff and power play. -----PASSIVE ABILITIES BY PL------ 1 None 2 Weapon & Shield 3 Bear’sFortitude, Bull’s Will 4 Scion of Flame, Secrets of Rime 5 Farcasting, Rapid Casting, Uncanny Luck, Tough 6 Improved Critical 7 None 8 None 9 Prestige -----SPELLS BY PL (TO COMPLEMENT VAPOROUS GRIMOIRE)------ 1 Chill Fog, Eldricht Aim 2 Combusting Wounds, Infuse With Vital Essence, Arcane Veil 3 Displaced Image, Deleterious Alacrity 4 Wall of Flame, Iron Skin 5 Torrent of Flame, Safeguard 6 Precisely Piercing Burst, Arcane Reflection, Freezing Pillar 7 Killing Bolt 8 Wall of Many Colors 9 Missile Salvo -----GEAR------ Griffin’s Blade + Lethandria’s devotion: my go-to set for versatility + power + survivability, but Magran’s Favor and Sun & Moon are of course really good (only for specific keywords/situations though). Lethandria’s Devotion is much better than any other offhand item. Griffin has really a lot to bring to the build. Also keep close the Lover’s Embrace dagger to cut some cheese... Rekvu’s Fractured Casque: crucial with Vaporous! Grimoire of Vaporous Wizardy: crucial, +50% spells per encounter! Keep Illuminating Discoveries, Iron Clasped, and Nina’s Teachings grimoires close. Especially Illuminating Discoveries for Brilliant Departure (few other grimoires have this spell too). Miscreant’s Leather: great action speed which drives DPS and perfect style with Rekvu’s casque. Contributes to making you eventually invulnerable to Reflex attacks (even your own). The Giftbearer Cloth: perfect (caution: buggy can make items/weapons in 4th slot disappear) Firethrower’s Gloves: perfect Necklace of Charm of Bones: perfect Kuaru’s prize: perfect Ring of Minor Protection: great to elevate defenses (increasing returns) Boots of Stone Belt of Eoten CON or any belt with +CON and other bonii Eviee Pet is nice as base, swap as needed Potions: Major Healing, Final Stand, Ascension, Perfect Aim, Deftness… Always keep somewhere Sandals of Waterlily, Burglar’s Gloves, Ajamuut Cloak + Lover’s Embrace + Rakhan Field Boots especially f you run out of ideas in a ****ty fight… Just keep the uniques to have options, especially if you haven’t played PotD a lot. If you come across items with immunities/resistance, hold on to them. -----GENERAL STRATEGIES------ Early on: any combo of buffing with whatever is available and then chillfog + combusting wounds and then later adding wall of flames and concussive missiles will win the day 90% of times. Add new spells as they come, especially freezing pillar. Don’t be afraid to get in close quarters, you can buff defenses severely and you’re not a glass canon (but don’t get overconfident). Remember that you can regenerate spells with moderation. Combusting Wounds is a force multiplier with anything that has multiple projectiles or hits over time. And of course, always hug a wall to limit engagement! Always walk close to the wall, and favor doorways as well as narrow corridors to engage/break stealth. Later on: Just go ballistic with higher end, hard hitting spells after you’ve done a full or near full cycle of buffing depending on the fight. There is so much you can do and so many ways to win with the tools at your disposal. If you’re hitting a wall (so to speak) then use the Wall (of Draining) strategy. Find enemies you can drain (low-ish Will), buff like crazy, drink a potion of Final Stand (+ other potions) and use your WoD to become invulnerable. Works a bit too well, but can be sometimes tricky against high level casters with access to Arcane Dampener with high accuracy and especially Arcane Cleanse. Disable them first if you can. Remember that chillfog is a cheap -15 accuracy when it lands (so +15 all defenses). Anyway the build and its gear provide really good defenses so there is room for human error, bear in mind that the weaker point is fortitude. Fully buffed you get something like 195 DEF, 162 FORT, 250 REF (!!!) and 215 WILL. Not impenetrable by highest level foes, but pretty good. A nice by-product is that you can drop any reflex targeting spell on your face without any worry that it will hit you. So go bathe yourself in your own meteors. -----MEGABOSS STRATEGIES------ Dorudugan: Sorry for the purists of Megaboss engagement but I just True Lover Kissed him, lured him to the North, then used Brilliant Departure, retreated to the South, and went on to have a few beers while he slowly met Rymrgand’s inevitability. Came back 3h later, saw the dawnfall of the hellfire colossus and upgraded my shield with his stone. It’s cheesy and lazy, but so is the boss in my opinion. Belranga: I did a full WoD buffing-to-oblivion cycle, wearing the sandals of water lilly, then I killed so many spiders that Belranga was at like 350 accuracy and came in close quarters. Then I tried to use the Cloak of Death spell and I was so happy to use it to full effect for the first time! Combined with Combusting Wounds, it really did a number on the Empress while I was just keeping my WoD up and occasionally throwing some spells around. Needless to say, WoD extends the duration of the Cloak, which makes it the cheapest, most effective PL9 spell against high accuracy melee attackers. Hit, Disappear, Suffer, Hit, Disappear, Suffer…. Hauani O Whe: First I True Lover Kissed it and retreated to the south with Brilliant Departure, because its initial form has too high defenses, too much accuracy and the solvent ability for my usual strategies to work. When I came up some time later, it had nicely split into the two lesser forms, much more manageable with conventional means. I engaged them in a typical WoD + Full Buffing + Final Stand cycle, and once I was really unkillable I eradicated one of the blobs with the following sequence: Combusting Wounds + 2x Meteor Shower + Wait until they split + Gaze of the Adragan + 2x Freezing Pillar + maybe a finisher fireball. In one sequence I destroyed all the splits of the first blob to naught. Then I just repeated with the other blob. Done without stress or intricate Interrupt tactics (save the one Adragan spell cast). Auranic: Yikes. I know she’s supposed to be the easiest Megaboss but this fight is the one that made me reload a few times before I got it right. Here is my final strategy: First, I used Rakhan Field Boots in stealth to… True Lover Kiss her. Then, I went out of her sight to buff and withstand the assault of her bodyguard + sigils (without attacking them) until she opened up the cleansing sigil (keeping my health up). At this point I destroyed it in one go with combusting wounds + 2x missile salvo (works from a very long distance). Then I retreated to the entrance with the 2 goons in tail, and proceeded to use them to power up my WoD + Buff + Final Stand cycle. Once I got like 600sec of buffs, I killed the bodyguards and destroyed the 2 remaining sigils south of Auranic (remaining out of her range). Then I gulped a potion of invisibility and went to the northeastern most corner by the sigil (out of range for Auranic). I destroyed this sigil and the other, keeping out of her range. Then I gulped another invisibility potion and retreated to the entrance. Auranic was about half health by then, enjoying the Kiss and unable to do anything to me. I went on to have a beer and waited until her death shield animation triggered, then I came up to trigger her death. Done. -----THE END------ Of course let me know if you have any question or feedback! This is all probably old news to a lot of readers. I’m just a very casual POTD solo practicioner of PoE 1 and 2, other people on this forum are a lot more cunning and knowledgeable. Still this toon did 100% of the game without any issue at all and playing really well/fun, so I hope you can get a similar experience. And congratulations if you read this far.1 point

Hi all. In the trailer below is some armor that I'm not familiar with and can't seem to find any info about them on the wiki. Hoops is wearing what appears to be a witches hat at 00:12 and then at 00:17 there is a brown gladiator style armor. Any info on these? Thank you.1 point

I don't much care about the branding, they could call it Oomba Goomba for all I care. On a serious note, there's an opportunity for Intel to capture a piece of the market that's severely underserved right now, the low to mid range dedicated market. In the current gen we have APUs then there are expensive discrete GPUs, very expensive discrete GPUs, and ludicrously priced discrete GPUs. There's a gap there for discrete GPUs in the $150 - $250 range that offer a bit more oomph than APUs.1 point

Magran's challenge is a lot easier at ultra-slow speed, with only one character, with an AI script to spam salvation of time like there's no tomorrow, and of course when you skip 90% of the fights in the game I actually tried a "conventional" magran's challenge run with a party and hoo boy. Even with all the (vanilla) AI scripting I could muster, and sharpest WC3-style micro I could manage, enemy AI front load all their attacks at the start of the fight, and with each passing level it becomes increasingly harder to manage all your party members in a way that won't result in some of them getting knocked out through sheer stupidity or inaction in the first few seconds. As a fight goes on, it gets quite a bit easier because enemies space out their special attacks and such a bit more irregularly instead of all at once. But I gave up on it at around level 8 because I knew that front-loading of enemy attacks would only get worse over time.1 point

this outcome was avoidable. as much as people complain 'bout the costs o' twenty years, what is happening now was indeed avoided for two decades and coulda' been avoided much longer with an extreme limited counter-insurgency presence. leave 'cause twenty year costs were too high is not reasonable anymore than is stay 'cause so much had been invested and lost in twenty years. lord knows Gromnir ain't suggesting the past twenty years were handled well. am not suggesting if choice had to be made again that invasion and occupation were warranted-- keep in mind we has repeated many times now how the initial costs o' invasion and nation building were criminal undersold to the american people. am also knowing is impossible for those who fought in afghanistan to ignore the past, but am thinking the situational calculus for a withdrawal necessarily required a more dispassionate appraisal: as of 2021, did the costs o' leaving outweigh the cost o' staying? at the time trump maneuvered to let mullah baradar outta prison and negotiated with the freaking taliban and when biden made his choice to withdraw complete while announcing an actual deadline for such withdrawal, status quo were believed to be sustainable with as few as 3000 total troops and it were believed, in large part 'cause o' years o' decreasing lethality faced by US troops in afghanistan, that combat losses would continue to be extreme limited. perhaps those america soldiers and marines who would indeed die thousands of miles from home were too great a cost to bear when measured against the current and future chaos in afghanistan, but particularly if you genuine believed This would be the outcome, such requires cold blooded indifference to the plight o' the afghanistan people am unable to muster. were admitted difficult, but the right choice were to ignore twenty years past. ignore the equal inappropriate twenty more years arguments. biden had to decide costs and benefits in 2021. perhaps you will continue to believe biden made the correct choice but just got the logistics o' withdrawal wrong, but regardless, this outcome were very much in doubt and coulda' been avoided. 'course maybe those people clinging desperate to planes didn't realize just how "decent" is the taliban when dealing with prisoners and any who had aided the americans these past twenty years. ... am also kinda annoyed every time we hear media refer to the dramatic increase in "forced marriages" already taking place. am gonna need assume gd is with us on this point 'cause if he thinks taxes is theft, then is no question he sees forced marriages as slavery, yes? call it what it is even if it makes it tougher to bear.1 point

Outside interference was already common before 1979, and that interference has directly or indirectly fueled instability in the country. The British and the Russians vied for the region in the 1800s causing 3 wars and massive instability. During most of the 20th century, the USSR was the big political driver in the country, pushing for an implementation of a communist government. The upside was the modernization, and the rejection of extremist religion(all religion, but oh well), the downside was that they were turning Afghanistan into a puppet state that did not reflect the population on the ground. They invaded to "bolster" that government. This was the act that pushed religious extremism to the fore, I'd say, although the US providing military resources to that lot surely did not help. No, the cold war wasn't, technically, colonialism. It was modern imperialism given cover by the Truman doctrine. As per usual. To say that the rise of the Taliban was a direct consequence of USSR action in the country is a gross simplification, given the religious makeup of the region, and ignores the support the US and the Saudis gave the mujahideen. The US should not have acted in the way it did, no. The invasion of Afghanistan was a pretty obvious choice internally, though. It surely did wonders for the GOP's popularity in that period.1 point

Alexander "ruled" Afghanistan by marrying a Bactrian woman, adopting the trappings of an Eastern despot and bringing to heel the local satraps who did the actual running of the country. Not to mention extensive colonization of the former Achaemenid empire areas with Greeks. But neither him nor his successors were arrogant enough to try to impose Hellenic culture directly. The emerging polity, the Seleucid empire, was as Eastern as it was Greek. I'm sure you know this, of course. Blasting the Taliban and leaving would have had the Taliban back in power within a year, I'd think. In retrospect, perhaps a better outcome in terms of lives and resources wasted, but hardly a "good" one. Bin Laden would still be at large, as well. It may be the modern man's biggest flaw to think himself so much smarter than his ancestors.1 point

One dumb party comp that works well on AI autopilot in PoE1 is 6 tanky Chanters with Dragon Thrashed... until half of them get Dominated by Vithrak... then the entire party can be very dead before you had a chance to yell "oh sh*t" . It's like Benny Hill x Battle Royale. I almost lost a ToI run like that!1 point

Yelp, the next Miyu episode is about dolls. And a woman who loves one of her dolls. Really, really loves him. Like. Yikes. edit: And of course nobody talks about being chased by a 500 ft. Gozilla-like Buddha statue. Figures, but still a little disappointing. You'd think that would leave more of an impression on three young girls.1 point

Honestly that depends on 3.0+1.01. Starting with 2.22 they diverge heavily from the anime and End of Evangelion. If it turns out to be awful then I wouldn't want to subject majestic to 8 hours of it, if it's good then yeah I'd recommend it.1 point

This is why Eviee is such a godsend. The true emotional support pet in all its splendor. A typical go-to race is Wood Elf because on top of their racial bonus, they have nice stat allocations for common min-maxing templates. But DEX resistance is actually not as great as other resistances IMHO because DEX has 4 tiers of Afflictions, plus the first 2 tiers are actually not that hindering (depending on the build) and several classes can easily spam DEX Inspirations to clear them. However, a lot of things can Petrify (Tier4) which will get demoted to Paralyze (Tier3) with the resistance, in which case you're still screwed . So in many cases, DEX Affliction resistance is only a true lifesaver if you're hit with a Tier3 Paralyze (e.g. a Cipher's Mental Binding). Other Resistances can have a much broader spectrum of usefulness, but it also depends on the class, build, gear, consumables...1 point

there are almost 3 million people here who have had bot dozes of Pfizer and none of them are hospitalized and they have very few cases of corona infection. there is about 2 million people who have had one doze of Pfizer and they make about half of new covid cases, but less than 10 of them are hospitalized but none needed intensive care There are about million people who don't have any dozes and the make second half of new covid cases and they make 99% of hospitalized people and 100% of those in intensive care 105 (82 pfizer, 14 AZ and 9 moderna, which matches with relation which said vaccines has been given to people) people who have had vaccine have died, 63 of them were over 80 years old. 31 were between 60-80 and 11 less than 60 years old. All the people who have died have had some previous disease that has been major factor of why said people have died, but in 35 cases it can be said for sure if symptoms (fever etc.) caused vaccine didn't factor in why person died. In comparison there has been 117 982 verified cases of covid from which 1003 has caused person's death.1 point

Afghanistan is a pretty good example of colonial and geopolitical meddling creating gigantic intractable problems. Its problems didn't start with Biden or Trump, obviously. But they didn't start with Bush Jr, or Reagan, or the Soviets, or Pakistan or the British either, but they all had a hand in making things a little bit worse. Or immensely worse, depending. In any case the current conflict was specifically lost the day the US invaded Afghanistan.1 point

Race doesn't matter much. For Monks who will mainly use their fists Nature Godlike is a good pick (because the Fists scale with Power Level and a Nature Godlike will gain +1 PL from Swift Strikes - which should be active all the time anyways). Nature Godlike (as godlikes in general) are a matter of taste though. The loss of the helm slot is not that big of a deal. Besides that every race had its uses. I particularly like Humans and both Orlan subraces. Resistance vs. Resolve is good because terrify is such a strong affliction and there are not as many options to get a resistance as for other affliction types.1 point

if its your first (or 2nd, or even like 3rd) playthrough, I would vote for normal companions only, maybe max 1 sidekick, but for sure not custom group. later, when you are bored with them, you can re-create a more powerful custom group, but they are such a nice addition to a lot of quests and the story, I would not skip them yet. for this group I would use Aloth as more likely CC-debuffer, and less as ranged dps, and use Maia for last spot as Scout for bigD ranged dmg or maybe Tekehu if you prefer spell dmg instead of guns1 point

I have to be honest, do you know what is one of the worst things about the Taliban taking control of Afghanistan? Its the interviews and truly emotional comments from numerous Afghan women who are educated or work for Afghan education NGO that promote equal education and gender equality Its really sad because they all feel understandably hopeless about the future for women in their country I was in Afghanistan in 2007/2008 for 5 days and I only stayed in Kabul but it was exciting to be in a country where simple things like equal education were recognised and you could see the real progress that was being made since the US occupation. Its depressing to think of all this progress becoming negated by the barbaric Taliban1 point

I'm pausing like a madman and micromanage everything into the ground - unless the fight is very easy, then I just select all and auto-attack one enemy after the other. Because of that habit I now want to do a mostly AI-run playthrough where I only have to micro one character most of times. I did that in PoE1 as well but the AI was so bad (hello Benny Hill show) I abandoned that back then.1 point

Currently watching a Vampire Princess Miyu episode that feels about as disjointed as the OVA. Things happen that seem completely unconnected, there's no clear distinction between ongoing plotlines, scenes randomly freeze with zero animation, time passes, sometimes characters talk to each other and everything looks warped and weird, and in the middle of it the girls go shopping for shoes. And now the older guy that the episode's been following doing some job that barely makes sense (sculpting a 500 foot statute in the middle of a construction site that seems to have nothing to do with the ongoing plot but isn't really "real" either because it looks like its in a parallel world). His wife might be the shinma, and he's just imagining things. Maybe. But now he randomly attacked a priest that recognized him and is running through a subway or railway station (or the mall attached, this is really, really, REALLY unclear) and music is playing that sounds like Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out For A Hero*. If it wouldn't look like the regular series and had the characters that weren't in the OVA I'd assume this was cobbled together from unused 80ies OVA footage. How utterly bizarre. Doesn't help that it is the, uhm, probably worst episode so far. Well if the guy's really holding out for a hero he's not really in luck. Miyu won't take the job anytime soon. *That was probably some sort of Miyu opening theme reprise or remix. Not really sure. edit:1 point

i wonder: do people make aggressive use of pausing? I have terrible gamer reflexes, but I get through fights on PotD by just spam-pausing every half second or so and taking my time with every decision. I remember watching a bit of a playthrough of someone doing poe1, and i was surprised how little they paused.1 point

I think a slingshot would be cool. I mean, why not? Let people craft what they want - the more weapons the merrier.1 point

People would literally eat other people for that.1 point

In the beginning the self damage part isn't that punishing imo because encounters are quite short and the self dmg ticks quite low. He fell over a few times but not that often. I mean I knew what I build there so I took extra care. Of course it helps immensely to have Lay on Hands in the party.1 point

New version available on Nexus, with the changes discussed above and a few bugfixes. Deadfire Balance Polishing Mod at Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) I guess when I'll get back my family, I won't be updating the mod so often EDIT : I may disconnect for a while in a few days. I want to be freed from the stress of discovering yet another thing to mod I'll come back, don't worry. Just need a few days more to confirm that there isn't something gamebreaking in this version.1 point

What I read here is rather that you, Sir, were very good at keeping him alive . Sure, with constant party healing and babysitting to spend the wounds, and no Confusion… but are you telling me that especially in the beginning, he didn’t die more than his fair share of times compared to the rest of his crew?1 point

He was a min maxer. He maxed offense. He mined survival.1 point

Haha right or Helwalker/Berserker a.k.a "I'm my own worst enemy". One of few characters that will literally die from standing around.1 point
