  1. A game where quite likely one dev asked: "What is our target audience?" and the other dev replied "Keyrock."

  2. Yeah, that about sums up how I feel as well. Another one of those cases where it's important to let the actual author speak for themselves instead of letting the fanidiots do it for them. Hell, that's literally exactly why I forgive Steven Universe for some of its more uneven bits as well - I've heard Rebecca Sugar herself talk about it and how difficult it is to get everything right while always having to work within so many constraints and making so many compromises under so many deadlines, it's tough to do everything just how you ideally envisioned it while also getting a product out at all and not being cancelled altogether (and boy, Cartoon Network was *so* ready to cancel SU). But yeah, what the heck, Crystal? You completely dropped the ball when you should've had everything going for you that neither the manga or anime did 20 years after the franchise became a mega-hit. Who's responsible for this disaster?

  3. am suspecting most reasonable people will not view similar to dp. "Or causes the death of a human being without intent to effect the death of any person, while intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm upon the victim when the perpetrator is restrained under an order for protection and the victim is a person designation to receive protection under the order." were custodial and the cops had a duty to floyd. the restraint o' floyd did harm. period. is not actual worth arguing that point. watch video and have reasonable people decide that at no point during the +9 minutes chauvin understood his restraint were harmful? was police use o' force reasonable? was reasonable for entire +9 minutes. particular during the point in time when floyd became unresponsive and other cops on site expressed concern regarding floyd safety, how convincing is the argument that chauvin were unaware o' harm? over the course o' +9 minutes o' video, it becomes increasing difficult to believe the defense. even if you believe the initial use o' force were justified, and am suspecting many jurors would, +9 minutes makes... problematic. keep in mind this case is a bit different than most in that chauvin's superiors from his own department were put on the witness stand and they did not support the chauvin defense portrayal of events. no blue line o' silence. back in march, the judge reinstated the 3rd degree charge against chauvin. 3rd degree murder is what you described earlier when you suggested chauvin actions didn't look like murder. 2nd degree murder became much more difficult for the defense when minnesota police and training witnesses identified that chauvin's actions were unreasonable and not following policy, and the reason they were not ok from a policy pov is the likelihood to cause serious harm. but... jurors do not like to convict cops. am thinking a majority o' jurors, based on evidence so far, will see chauvin as guilty o' at least 3rd and probable second degree, but you need unanimous for criminal. am not in the court and am not seeing the jurors. assume jurors is being logical and rational is not smart. jurors liked Gromnir, so we should like jurors. nope. the reasons jurors make their descions rare is what you expect and chances are will have less to do with the evidence you is hearing 'bout on tv. the defendant looked shifty or uncomfortable. the defendant looked like a good christian. the judge were overharsh. the assisstant da were mean (is a problem particular if is a woman prosecutor and there is older women jurors, 'cause older women is particular harsh when judging younger women.) etc. whatever is final decision, there is a good chance the real reasons acquittal or conviction won't be based on what you are hearing from news regarding evidence. HA! Good Fun!

  5. I did a solo SC Furyshaper and it went pretty well (Blood Ward draining life from all sources of dmg is just great). SSS and FS gave me trouble though and I didn't even try megabosses. Blame my unwilingness to use resting bonuses and consumables. SC Furyshaper in a party is even better imo. Just because of the Blood Ward.

  7. If you don't want a late game class I can only recommend playing single class over multiclass. You get access to powerful PL7 abilities super early (level 13 I believe) and for some classes like priests even PL6 is massive (level 10). And if you play in a party you REALLY don't lose much going single class, there is some super situational interesting things that even in a party can only be done with a multiclass, but a party with only single classes will be as effective as one with multiclasses, but you unlock your abilities much earlier.

  8. Everybody seems to play Soulblade as Soul Annihilation spammer - and of course that can be pretty boring. But a Soulblade also gets more max focus for a melee kill and (more importantly imo) has a discount for shred spells. You don't need to use Soul Annihilation all the time. For example you can play a shred caster with a ranged weapon in one had and a melee weapon or bashing shield in the other, shooting/casting at range and only using Soul Annihilation as soon as he is engaged in melee to get rid of enemies. By the way: you can extend the duration of the Soul Blade's +10 max focus buff with Strand of Favor - meaning you can stack an absurd amount of max focus for a very long time if you want. This can be pretty hilarious with Shared Nightmare (and of course with Soul Annihilation).

  12. So, longer answer time. @Bartimaeus I made some more edits to the post above, about stuff and stuff. Reading the two pages made me feel a bit bad about the mean things I - well, we - posted about her in these threads. I'll also admit that I let the fandom parroting what she said colour my perception of her statements, because over the course of the anime rewatch, researching reviews and gathering information for the essay style posts, I grew to despise the manga fanboys, for various reasons, but by far and large for claiming how superior the source material is, which, let's face it, is simply not true except for the more detailed costumes the girls are wearing in the manga (which caused Ms. Takeuchi some problems when drawing and forgetting them, so perhaps the anime had the better idea anyway). It also helps understanding some of the statements she made regarding changes in the anime. For instance, assuming she truly likes manga Rei and considers it one of the good things in it - perhaps not even in the way she actually is or comes across in the manga, but the way she wanted her to be - and the anime turns her into something else entirely, for various reasons, then of course she'd be annoyed by that. I also once read that she wanted to do certain things that happened in the anime but wasn't allowed to by her editor, for instance the girls not dying by giving their energy to Princess Serenity but going out with a bang. There's also a panel that was cut for Crystal where the hologram of Usagi's mother tells her that the source of her strength is not only her heart, love and sense of justice, but also being a girl, and that she should never forget that. In light of that panel, her being annoyed by the Sailor Starlights turning out to be transgender and actually male in civilian live is understandable, even if the change, in my opinion, still was a good idea. We already had a great homosexual relationship, so why not go even further. It would be different if she had complained about the three being actual boys because it diminishes her point about how much easier it was for boybands to sing about love and princesses while being taken seriously (more or less, anyway) in the mid 90ies. But it wasn't, the complaint was specifically about her believing that only women can be actual Sailor Guardians because being women was a source of strength for them, and while Mamoru is a Sailor Earth standin, he's just that. He's not Sailor Earth. The parts where she wrote nigh unadaptable material and I thought she might have done that intentionally out of spite, yeah, no, that was definitely wrong too. Also no wonder she made Saturn's attack sequence go for four pages. That's 10% off the workload. I doubt that she reads this forum, but: Dear Stephenie Meyer Dear Ms. Takeuchi, I'm sorry for the mean things I said about you. Especially the ones where I called you (or implied you to be) an entitled, pretentious artist who got annoyed by the adaptation turning out to be a superior product. Seems like you weren't happy with the manga too. It also can't be easy to have what you consider "shoddy work" and "a rough first draft" to be the one thing that blew up into a billion dollar world wide phenomenon. Hell, you might even feel like I did, that the success of your manga was based more on the anime being such a smash hit than for its own merits. Not sorry about calling Crystal crap. Because it is.

  13. I can calm you down, that's the only episode where Luna and Yaten are a, uhm, thing. And it's not even really a thing thing. edit: That cooking episode was a riot. I mean, aside from the drawings of Haruka and Michiru being really weird, and the hands being strange. Oh, by the way, Galaxia looks bad just the entire season, with the exception of her in civilian form, those are truly nice. But they come up once. Guess the interns did her other appearances. I can't help but loving how Usagi just self-inserts into the cooking show, hogging the spotlight, essentially making an ass out of herself on national TV just because Makoto is so nervous that she drops the eggs for the cake. Or at least that was how I saw it, and Makoto probably too, otherwise she'd have been annoyed at Usagi, right? edit 2: Spoiler for the next episode, as a warning of sorts:

  15. Interesting. One aspect more realistic that super hero stories should have is different groups in different countries. Depending on how easy it is to find/create them, every nation would want their own. It is like nukes, but they could appear by themselves (mutants for example), ready to be recruited. The consequences of that are more or less what you described.

  17. @ShadySandsposted a similar story... were march or april 2020... maybe? am getting old and maybe our memory for dates is getting fuzzier. in 2015 (and 2020) we couldn't figure out why anybody would object to a private business owner taking less income to guarantee his employees got more. hope the happier employees would be more efficient and less likely to quit? am suspecting employee dissatisfaction and turnover is not low in the credit card processing biz. weren't government forcing dan price to take less in personal compensation, so why would fox business pundits or rush limbaugh see as problematic? we were admitted baffled by the venom from a few so-called conservatives. still don't get the over dramatic angst. HA! Good Fun! ps even if you thought dan price were wrong and doomed to fail, wouldn't you be hopeful he succeeded? is not much down side to success as such a win at least suggests some o' the preconceptions 'bout the costs o' maintaining a business dependent on employees who tend to suffer high turnover rates is less absolute than many believe.

I've also seen JoJo's balls and he got married to two of the gym gods, but he already divorced one of them. I'm pretty sure I don't need to put that into a spoiler because that makes absolutely NO sense out of context. You were right about things getting very weird.

  21. Thanks for the response, Not So Clever Hound. I have been testing this, and just finished Port Maje. For some reason it seems that melee attacks from stealth DO generate focus, while ranged attacks do not. If anything, this is a point in favor of the melee-focused assassin mindstalker. So far, focus generation is no problem; the only problem is forgetting to discharge focus when full, and thus losing the raw lash. Have to remember to frequently use Soul Annihilation. I'll report back once I get Amra. I expect it will also be OP for the melee Mindstalker, but we'll see....

  22. The longest I've ever gone is 50 hours, but I frequently had stretches were I would sleep maybe two hours a night over 10-15 days and the sleep deprivation hit harder then than just not sleeping, maybe it was because of slow burn. I would hear stuff, see things out of the corner of my eye, and bright patches of color would routinely pop up in my field of vision. It's hard to say what the weirdest thing I've written was from those days is, and what you guys would consider weird. Like I think the weirdest was a short story featuring a sociopathic unreliable narrator who was recounting how monsters had infiltrated a mental ward he was confined in. But others think it was a script for a girl who had been raped and coped with it by believing it was an immaculate conception and ended up starting a cult in East Texas.

  23. @majestic Wow, thanks for the images - they literally give so much context for the madness, and some much needed perspective on the part of Ms. Takeuchi herself. I think back to her comments about how she didn't approve of some stuff in the original show, like Black Lady getting too sexualized, and then us laughing about how messed up some of the things SHE wrote in the actual manga were. It sounds like it's literally possible she didn't remember what the heck she wrote at parts in the original manga, and it doesn't seem like she liked her own art or writing much at all to begin with, particularly not as rushed as she was. And with those kinds of deadlines, who can possibly pause for time to think about what they're writing, how well it's written, what's actually coming through vs. what was intended, how specific points were framed, etc. Goes a long way towards forgiving the rough patches around the Sailor Moon franchise as a whole...except Crystal - what the hell is your excuse, Crystal? Iron Mouse: I don't think so? I like Iron Mouse in general, though, so she doesn't even need to be doing anything "meta", really (also, it wouldn't be the first time villains have interrupted Sailor Moon's speech...although if she actually DOES something during her speech, I think that'd be new!). Yeah, that episode was not very good. The first half was good enough, but the second half was pretty lacklustre compared to everything of this season I've seen so far, which has genuinely been very good so far, even if a little rehashy. @ArtistFormerlyKnownasKP The most I've ever gone without sleeping was 80 hours, and I all got out of it was hallucinations where the walls were wiggling and writing was spontaneously appearing and disappearing on them. I've been cheated!

  24. Finished The Great Pretender Singapore Skies It's a fun anime that is not only broken up into seasons, but parts as well that end up being roughly the length as a movie. I had this hanging because I started Sailor Moon and Puella Magi Madoka Magica turned out to be hugely engaging, but I'm glad I got to get back into it. It follows a gang of swindlers who cheat bad people with extravagant schemes and for the most part ends up being a fun ride. Since it is broken up into small parts, I'd recommend watching each as a movie and taking a break if you want a change of pace. I may have exceeded that level once or twice. I had....strange thoughts when I wasn't sleeping.

  25. Well as I said you can make anything work as @Boeroer pointed out a way to amke it somewhat viable already. The question I would ask myself is if you'd enjoy any cipher/barbarian combo, if you dislike SA "spam" especially Ascendant is all about spam, sadly thats how deadfire is balanced with the bloated hp on many enemies. I already pointed out SC wizard and will gladly do so again, because of how much variety you can bring into every fight. Ciphers sadly just arent about variety in this game at least not if you actually wanna do damage with them. Or before any cipher lovers cry out in anger let me try and reword that. The combination of high enemy hp and very high fortitude defense on relevant dangerous enemies makes awesome damaging spells from the cipher pretty useless in the harder fights (at least on potd) so you resort to the things that work, targeting deflection or at least will (won't always work)

  26. nothing new. as has already been noted, china takes taiwan if it is willing to invest the resources. am repeating self, but... headline clickbait aside, those rand studies mentioned in the article show that china never achieves air superiority and a significant % o' chinese vessels is sunk before ever reaching taiwan. following a near certain successful invasion o' taiwan, china has gotta deal with a hostile population o' 23 million. post ww2, the US has been almost universal unwilling to make the necessary human and monetary investment to achieve successful regime change. is doubtful china makes similar mistakes in taiwan, but am thinking is too easy to forget how expensive it is to bring 'bout successful regime change. is tough to envision a scenario where china comes out looking like a winner following an invasion o' taiwan, even if they is most assured gonna be victorious in their efforts to invade. HA! Good Fun!

The only one I've ever seen effective vs Unbending is Enfeeble but the wording is different there: Enfeebled -5 Constitution, +50% Hostile Effect duration, -100% Healing done Either way you could just have smth like Dawnstars blessing with +50% healing received to counter it, but I doubt it even works that way.

  29. Okay, in that case, I don't think she can be held responsible for what she wrote if that's how it went down. I've written some pretty weird stuff when I've been utterly exhausted too (...though admtitedly never anything on the level of horse-human romance with the intent of it being adapted for children's TV - she might have some deep-seated problems there that she may or may not have intended to bring out in her writing, idk). No wonder the manga doesn't have much fun filler stuff - she didn't have enough time or energy to do the main story, much less extras! Episode 11: @majestic SU:

  30. For some reason the next games in the series didn't really scare me. The one part where I went "oh dear, oh dear, oh fscking dear!" was in Dead Space 2 when People keep saying the "slow" aimining in the PC port of Dead Space was a bug, but imho it worked well given the heavy suit, and it really made you feel a lot more vulnerable, so I didn't even question whether that was intended until I read about it later... Anyway, have mostly been hopping between my go-to "I dunno what I wanna play" games, Conan Exiles, Warframe, and FF XIV. I did give Outriders a go as the demo was promising. Unfortunately the final game, well, far less so. Balance, for single players, appears to go entirely out of the window the further in the campaign you get. Enemies with assault rifles have sniper accuracy from across the map, and many "elite", or "boss" enemies will basically one, or two-shot you when you go near them (great when running a melee build...) As such it often feels more like a case of luck (or not having "bad luck") when I get through an encounter alive, even on what is supposed to be "normal" difficulty. Not really the feeling I'm looking for, tbh. This game, while mostly single-player, is always online. If the connection goes out during a mission you just get kicked out and get can start over. This especially matters because there's an inventory wipe bug that happens on disconnects, and crashes, where you can irrevocably lose everything on your current character. Saves are local (and they rely on some sort of anti-cheat to keep people from tinkering with them) so the devs have no backup of your stuff. At best you get some random-rolls of items you may, or may not, have had back (imagine losing some tweaked out Diablo 3 character and getting some random rolled legendaries back. Yeah...) So yeah, stopped playing until they can sort that stuff out, bit of a deal breaker right there...

  31. Hi @dgray62 thanks for sharing, I love it and I do think it's very viable especially with the mod to tweak cipher buffing powers. For the record I had strongly considered it and the only reason I hadn't followed through was because I couldn't self buff with cipher powers. Strong thematic fit and synergies between the 2 classes. You can potentially do really fun things like several high-DMG stealth attacks on squishies + wanton gore to supercharge your Soul Annihilation for a tough enemy. I think in terms of Focus management you will end up using Soul Annihilation with Assassin bonuses a lot more than casting buffs/debuffs but it will still give you a lot of versatility. Two things that I'd pay attention to: Investigate focus generation with Rogue attacks (to charge powers and Soul Annihilation). As you remember, this was an interesting quirk of the ranged Mindstalker: a lot of rogue alpha strikes weren't consistently generating focus, so you could basically have Biting Whip always on, which was great in that case. With this particular build you DO want to generate focus, so I'd make sure it doesn't become an issue here. Have the right tempo to attack/restealth/attack/cast/etc. without ending combat prematurely (which would reset your focus, end your "borrowed" types of buff etc). This is always a thing with Solo Assassin but especially with a Focus-user that is going to cast the occasional spell from stealth. You may consider attacking one enemy with Gouging Strike at the beginning of the fight, then it will not end until this enemy is dead. Problem solved. You could also activate Berath's challenge but I'm not 100% sure about the ease of doing certain fights before you can get Brilliant self-cast at lvl 19. I think it is feasible though - after all you have Whispers of Treason . I love the rash lash you could call your toon The Plague Carrier

  32. Thats an interesting idea and also could create a really unique narrative. Lets unpack your idea a little, what about different groups of people who have their own gods who in turn they grant their followers different powers but unlike American Gods these are humans and can be killed But each of these groups of people would live in different parts of the world and normally only come into conflict with each other when countries go to war with each other like WW1 So the series would be about an impending global event that was coming....maybe another world war or something similar but this event that was coming was going to be cataclysmic to the world and could lead to whole continents being destroyed and billions of people being wiped out so each country or region would have its loyal superheroes that have one main objective....they want to ensure their own citizens survive what is coming So imagine all the nuance and complexity you could create, you could have superheroes that might have been friends at war with each other and then the various gods empowering their supporters so they will survive I am not sure if you read comics or use to , but I am sure you have heard of 2000AD and the likes of Judge Dredd. Anyway there was a spin0ff series of comics from the same company that created 2000 AD called Crisis and they had a storyline called the New Statesmen which was similar to what we discussing but slightly different around how people became superheroes ....if you havent read the comics below you must !!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Statesmen

  34. Combined with the findings for the Squid's Grasps Certain Mutiny upgrade, this could potentially be a fun combo by confusing the chanter and charming the whole team for an extra +30% damage bonus + Squid's Grasp bonus - It does however disable abilities and the int debuff will hurt an already short duration, so it's probably in the very niche category.

  36. maybe the way beckoner and skald are treated for the phrase adjustments are handled differently? I was about to post my understanding, but then I just realized that my experience between my skald and beckoner are different, much like you. i always was one phrase short of my best summon as beckoner, but with skald i have enough phrases to start off with my most expensive non-offensive invocation (for me it's the revive effect, which is mostly just a decoy to increase my max phrases to 5) edit: i'm 90% sure that troubadour is like beckoner - always one phrase shy of max of my max in my recollection. maybe skald i just buggy compared to the otners?

  37. I didn't make that point at all. I merely said that I think my suggestion of intruducing a rel. low chance of regaining a bit of resources right from the start as an effect that is attached to an auto-ability provided a) unchanged balance in the normal game where you play a full party and do rel. short fights and b) that in long fights and/or solo runs and/or late content like the DLCs SSS and FS those classes would have less of a disadvantange - ergo better balance and also c) that they won't cost an ability point and don't even need a separate talent - so nobody needs to feel forced to pick it, no new ability icon is needed and ability points don't get stretched thin. But that was actually before a) so c) might not be the best designation for it but whatever. Now that's the third time I repeated at least a) and b) and hopefully you will address those claims - maybe try to point out mechanical issues that I didn't see - like others did when I suggested something but didn't think it through (which isn't a problem since this is more like a brainstorming/discussion). Don't choose rudeness or try to put words in my mouth. I don't and it would be cool if you'd return the favor. I really don't know where this is coming from or what I wrote that I deserve such a behavior. This is leading nowhere with such a confrontative mood. If you are actually interested in convincing me - or anybody else in this thread - that my suggestions are bad:
    1 point
  38. I did - but I can't find any arguments that would counter my aforementioned points a) and b) after the ones I already addressed in length and why I think they were wrong. "Might as well add resource points" - no, because that would impact the balance in the early game the most while it wouldn't do that much for the fights you actually need more resources. "only few fights" - that is different if you play solo and/or go to SSS/FS DLCs and/or do Moegabosses. And even if it would only be a few fights that would only be an argument in the line of "too much work for the outcome" - which I would accept. That's a valid argument (that you didn't explicitly made though) - but not one that counters the in-game mechanical benefits. After that it was just attacking me... ...like so. You even edited that sentence in afterwards. Like it was a great idea to add that but you just forgot about it the first time... I'm sorry if this discussion and the things I suggest (in the thread I opened myself just to ask what people where thinking about an anti-confusion mechanic) rile you up and you feel the need to be rude with me for reasons unknown, but...

  39. I'm pretty sure I never posted anything about PoE1 and missing resource replenishment. Especially I didn't "whine" about it. I would very much like you to stop saying that. I don't use personal attacks in discussions which I start in good faith and I wish you wouldn't either. I does nothing for your point of view, it brings no sympathy or understanding for your cause. It just damages your reputation. What for? If you have solid arguments then I'm all ears. I'm the last person who wouldn't give in if you made some good points. You know that. The last argument you brought up against my suggestions was that you could as well give everybody flat +resources. I explained why that's not the same and why I think that would be bad form a blance standpoint imo (of course it would be most easy). That was the last sincere attempt to discuss this. Please let's return to that state.
