  2. The stimulus bill includes a tax break for the 1% we earlier highlighted this curious tax boon for the wealthy included in the stimulus bill, but the linked opinion article does a fair job o' explaining. "Let's pause for a moment to review: The new relief provision only benefits those who can list more than $500,000 in excess business losses -- typically artificial losses from depreciation that have more than wiped out their business income on paper -- AND more than $500,000 in other income from wages or other sources now that the cap on the tax break has been removed. Pity such people in a time of pandemic? Congress did. "Who are they? The Times and other accounts refer to this category as the "top 1%" of taxpayers, according to Internal Revenue Service data. These are people who are likely making millions, writing off millions more in paper real estate losses, all the while really hating the taxes they must pay." when a bit o' normalcy returns, Congress needs re examine this provision. similar but different... Red and Blue America Agree That Now Is the Time to Violate the Constitution have mentioned previous how when we talk o' the government taking away freedoms we ordinarily don't mean it in the same way as does gd. is a mistake to think o' government as a threat to The People. one should always be conscious o' the fact the greatest threat to freedom in this country is not tyrants acting 'gainst the will o' the people but rather the tyranny o' the majority. particular in times when fears is stoked, democracy becomes dangerous. japanese internment in ww2 were not evil government acting in spite o' popular will but rather government responding to widespread anger and fear. in 2020 we look back at japanese internment and wonder: how could the government do such a thing? wrong query. the Constitution (the Bill of Rights in particular) is designed, consciously and with full awareness, as a limit on democracy. decades hence, school children will look back at 2020 and lament how the government took civil liberties away from people in violation o' the Constitution. just like patriot act. just like korematsu. just like... etc. gotta break the cycle. gotta recognize it is The People demanding safety and security and offering freedom up on the pyre as a sacrifice. yeah, trump and others is gonna grab for power for self interest, but biggest threat is your neighbors and the guy in the mirror. HA! Good Fun!

  3. If it makes you feel better, I just made a current events assignment for my 7th graders out of your post. We've already covered habeas corpus this year, so hopefully this will hit home for them. Hardest part of writing the assignment was not making the stimulus package sound like a blatant payoff for our civil liberties. I mean, I don't mind them making the connection, but I don't want to make it for them.

  4. Ah, Vampyr. Granted, it's a bit rough around the edges, but I can't help but applaud what the developers tried to do with that game (i.e. the social network stuff). Also, the atmosphere. What is darkness but lurking sun? What is wall but enslaved stone? What is glass but tortured sand? What is a song but a call to arms? What is hate but jilted love? What is life but death stranding pending? I hope you will have fun with it all the way through!

  5. In Europe now, we get the same kind of bereavement of civil liberties as Gromnir mentions in all of the countries that were liberal to begin with. In the already far too numerous motley crew of semi-dictatorships, we see how they transform into dictatorships before our very eyes, openly, day by day, by highly questionable legislation. It will take a very long time and it will be very hard to turn the clock back on these changes to civil rights. More and more countries use full-on cell phone tracking of individuals, where these data include all of their other personal data, which get sent into the hands of central information banks - and this information can then be used to control dissidents and disliked groups with impunity - I get Orwellian 1984-vibes from all of this.

  6. Agree. In Poland now we have unconstitutional bans and restrictions that can only be applied in a state of emergency. But the government refuses to implement state of emergency because they don't want to postpone presidential elections. Civil rights spokeman is filing complaints about this. They also shoehorned a change to election laws in the so called "crisis shield" which is directly violating constitution. But you know what? Many people think this is just fine and dandy because we have an emergency. Missing the point that doing things by the book would take exactly the same amount of time. This will not lead to anything good in the long run.

Easy to copy for tweaking. I could do the same for Accuracy and Damages bonus if needed. I'm confident that everything is possible. The only limit is dev time (and well... testing). And of course, balance. I will do. One day . Working on Rogue Mod at the moment. More seriously, the number #1 Step is to check what summons currently do.

  8. would be nice if it were a denver thing. so denver is buckwheats? bad enough, but our experience suggests it is a bit more widespread. in another post we mentioned how our older family members were not taking this situation serious. referenced two aunts specific. the 82-year old lives in midwest. the 79-year old lives in socal. ... y'know, for driver training classes in US high schools, students is shown blood on the pavement and similar such films to try and drive home the scope o' dangers from driving when st00pid. such lessons is having admitted limited and short-term impact on teens, but short-term may be enough in this situation. am knowing this sounds like a cruel solution, but am thinking it might be worth showing film o' people suffering from severe respiratory distress to, well, everybody. if you have ever watched somebody die as they struggle to breathe, chances are it had an impact 'pon you. am knowing film ain't same as in-person viewing a friend or loved one die from pulmonary embolism or similar, but am thinking far too many do not yet comprehend what it is they are facing, not the reality of it. the following is gonna be a bit graphic, so please do not read if you are sensitive to such descriptions regardless, am doubtful shady's experience is anything other than the norm as we see it here and am knowing our family, spread 'cross the country, is replicating the indifference o' the older generations to warnings 'bout the need for social distancing. people clear don't get it, not yet.

  9. Let's face it friends... things kind of suck right now. The world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket. But it's not all terrible. Every day people are doing good things. There are positive and uplifting stories in every news service. The great Hunter S. Thompson wrote " Good news is rare these days, and every glittering ounce of it should be cherished and hoarded and worshipped like a priceless diamond" So let's spread some GOOD news stories for a change! 11. ~15 years past, the west nile virus hit bird populations in north america. crows were particular susceptible. in one year, crow population is estimated to have fallen by 30%. overall, during entire west nile virus period of 'bout 5 years, the crow population in na dropped 60%-80%. the crows had it coming. currently, there is a fungus which is spreading 'mongst amphibians. already 501 species o' frogs and salamanders has been wiped out... wiped out as in gone from the world never to be seen again save in photos and textbooks n' such. ever met a salamander who didn't deserve to die? +99% of species which has ever existed has been murderized by mother nature. mother nature doesn't care about you anymore than she cares 'bout salamanders or crows or dinosaurs or woolly mammoths. mother nature will, one day, end you with the pathological indifference o' a serial killer. viruses ain't some kinda punishment for transgression against nature or god or whatever. even if you see some kinda population control function as an explanation for the existence o' viruses, the pathogens is utter indiscriminate. nature takes such a long view that human conceits such as punishment and justice is incompatible with her goals. if there is a reason, then there is an opportunity for control. change behaviors and offer a few more virgin sacrifices to the gods will be your prophylactic 'gainst doom. sure, there is ways to combat virus spread and symptoms. we need not stand idle and surrender to fate, but pretend like all the death and suffering has meaning is foolishness. and if Gromnir is wrong and viruses is some kinda punishment from nature, then am gonna go out and buy as many plastic straws we can afford and set 'em ablaze in a grand bonfire with the most environmental harmful fuel source available to us. #$%& you mother nature. HA! Good Fun!

  12. There is also a backstory problem with Ranger NPC. One either has a pet or not. How to handle the dialogue if not. Ranger cannot be a skippable class for this reason. The only Ranger NPC is Maia, and her Ranger Class is not Skippable.

  13. Like I've said before, most people are anti freedom. They only pretend to be pro freedom when it concerns their own freedom. It is all about power, control, and slavery. EVIL.

  15. I successfully practiced social distancing while jogging. There were less people in the park, than usual, but more, than I had expected (Sunday, 7 AM, cold). The OS upgrade went somehow successful - now the netbook uses Win10, but I forgot to keep specific drivers and now got stuck with the 800x600 display resolution. I did manage to install an antivirus, a browser (MS Edge does not count) and TeamViewer and connect to my work PC. I tried to set up the monitor I had used with my PS3 (the PSP-shaped one), but for some reason neither my main PC nor the netbook were able to detect it. The HDMI cable looks undamaged, and it had worked with Wii U (several years ago) just fine, so I am at a loss what is wrong.

  16. I've been on a bit of an Ubisoft kick. Picked up AC: Odyssey in the sales awhile back and finally started it. It is a gorgeous game I will say that. Roaming the world, I might have got a bit distracted by the general run around, managed to hit level 59 while travelling all around the Greek world doing sidequests and still haven't actually tracked down my mother yet.... And my god, I know it's the classical Greek world, but so many of the side quests and stories end in some form of tragedy regardless of what you do. Edit: And of course, I then just picked up AC: Syndicate and AC: Origins in the batch of sales last week, now my minor OCD is kicking me to play them in the right order.

  18. Shadowing Beyond et al. are upgrades of Escape. I would give the upgrades at least the same duration of the deflection bonus that Escape has and decouple it completely from the invisibility. "What they intended" - I guess they just screwed this up a bit.

  19. Not sure if you've heard of the extended phenotype, it's a very important concept in evolutionary biology and Dawkins himself has dedicated a book to it. What you're describing very much sounds like what one would describe as an extended autonomic system, which is a concept I've never really put together before. From head nod up for friends, and down for strangers, basically compulsory behaviors that exist only between people or in the social structures at large.

  20. More Pillars of Eternity! And Kaoto from The Abbey of the Fallen Moon is no more! I got owned twice, before I was able to find a way how to get his party down. This fight would be impossible without Kana. His AoE paralyzing stun was the ability, which helped me to turn the tide of the battle on my side! I just had to be sure, to get into the cone the Cleric and as many monks as possible. And then slowly take them one by one slowly down. Very, very difficult fight.

  24. Don't know if many of you have heard of the "Little Free Library" movement. It's a thing in the US, Canada & GB and maybe elsewhere. It's a small house shaped box people build and place in communities where people can take and leave books. Well, with everything going on people are putting groceries, TP, and other such in them: You know, most folks are pretty decent I think. If you give them a chance to be. More:

  25. Avadon: The Black Fortress. It might not be the prettiest RPG I've played, but I do like its writing. (Spoilers for the end-game). God Eater 3. The final DLC has been released. Regalia Balmung. The Crimson Ashlands. These missions seem harder with AI-partners, because they cannot adapt to the conditions and requirements (at the upper right corner - the party can cause damage only when AT is active).

  26. Avadon: The Black Fortress. I've completed the game with the less violent main ending. I have tried to kill Redbeard after, but he was spamming the soul jars too quickly, so eventually the party ran out of consumables. Tried the same with cheats, it still took half an hour. Somehow ironically, actions that had not affected the story during the game (or I had not noticed) determined specific outcomes for the regions. Okami. I successfully reached the Sasa Sanctuary and acquired another Celestial Brush technique.
