  1. Trump’s story about Cincinnati veteran’s comeback was not quite true sure, trump played fast and loose with economic numbers, but he didn't even bother to be honest with his feel good stories in the state of the union address 'cause he knew it didn't matter. "Rankins, who indeed moved out of his car and into an apartment since landing a job refurbishing a Nashville hotel two years ago, doesn’t work at a site taking advantage of the breaks and never has done so. In fact, he started that job four months before the Treasury Department published its final list of neighborhoods eligible for the breaks. And the hotel where he worked couldn’t benefit even now because it’s an area that didn’t make the cut." ok, so trump lied... a little white lie where he took credit for a 1996 tax incentive program signed into law by bill clinton, but how 'bout the adorable little girl he saved with a scholarship? "Trump dramatically announced that a Philadelphia fourth-grader, Janiyah Davis, would be getting a scholarship that would allow her to transfer from a “failing government” school to a charter school of her choice. But The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that she had already been attending a charter school for months and that students there don’t have to pay tuition." doesn't matter. confront folks with reality and they will blame on fake news or the vindictive do-nothing democrats who have been out to get trump from day-1. blame immigrants? why not? am sure we can find some way to blame immigrants for trump lies. build the wall. maybe blame john kelly for not keeping his mouth shut? has nothing to do with current story but such has never stopped this administration. HA! Good Fun!

  5. You can tell a badly written story by the fact that no one knows wtf is going on because everything is vague, incomplete, incoherent, things contradict one another and so on. Just look at the forum - endless debates on "what the writer had in mind". A good writer writes what he has in mind, and then if you have a deep mind you get even more out of it. A bad writer writes a lot of mumbo jambo and throws a bunch of "deep" words in in order to create an appearance of depth and meaning. Positive example here is Tolkien - his works are the result of clear and powerful mind. You know who is fighting whom, why, and what are their goals. If you have a sophisticated mind, you can get out of it a lot more than someone who only sees battles and adventure. His works produce awe and clarity. PoE story has the opposite effect on mind. So, that being said, can someone explain to me who is who in PoE because wiki is useless. 1. I supposedly promised something to Berath in PoE1. What exactly would that be and why is she still mentioning that? I played PoE1 a bit but I don't think I finished the storyline. I don't even know what Berath is about in any relevant way and as I said a wiki description of "oh that's a god of death / reincarnation / whatever" is by no means helpful in gameplay terms. These attributes are added to gods in some randomized pointless fashion, and thus for example Woedica seems to be a goddess of justice but she doesn't act like it at all, not in the least (bad writing is what it is). 2. What is Eothas doing? He wants to destroy the Wheel? Ok cool, and what does he want to achieve with that? I've seen countless pages written on this forum about that because no one understands anything (bad writing). So I'm supposed to make choices in an RPG game not knowing what it's all about? How can I side with or against Eothas if there is no story whatsoever? Gods don't explain anything because 'I'm only a Watcher so I don't need to know anything' (great writing), and Eothas also says "oh yea, you just let me do this thing and it's all gonna be great". Amazing approach, every justice system in the world should implement this. Forget witnesses and evidence, just go with the feeling and pick one side and rule in their favor. 3. What is Xoti about? Collecting souls in her lantern and trapping them there? Oh wait no, she's in fact freeing them! Spectacular writing, every totalitarian measure is introduced the same way - 'no no, we're not limiting your speech or freedom of movement, this is for freedom and protection!' Ok so what happens later? There are apparently some choices I can make with Xoti in the end, but what are those choices? Or do I need to let her trap souls whole game to find out in the end that she'll use them for some nefarious purpose? Why wouldn't I kill her right away and not risk it? And then I even read that, no matter what I tell her in the end, she might not listen to me. What? 4. What do I do with Eder? Oh that's right, I don't know, because I don't know who Eothas is and what he's doing. This guy fought against Eothas if I'm not wrong, and then if I'm not wrong it turned out that Eothas was doing something.. that's good? Whatever that is. And Xoti as a Priestess of Eothas is drooling all over this guy. Err, didn't he fight against her god, what am I missing here? Shouldn't she put Eder into the lantern? Right now I'm leaning towards endgame choice "Eothas, destroy everything", but I have a feeling the writer would be back in PoE3 or PoE2 DLC's.

  6. Hi You are going to put out a dlc, I assume. Can you add romances? Especially with Ellie for me. I want romantic relationships. Can you, Obsidian, directly answer this question, if romances will be available in the future? Cheers Roman

  8. let's get this straight. skarp is using a child as a human shield to deflect an argument 'bout trump lies, and Gromnir is the villain in the scenario? the next time trump takes credit for veteran's choice, something he does frequent, and uses an anecdote o' a veteran to sell his mistruth, if Gromnir calls out trump on the lack o' honesty am s'posing it will be a case o' us attacking the veteran and taking a dump on the patriotic contribution o' those who served in the armed forces? *chuckle* has been awhile since we saw somebody try and use otter level deflection defense in real life. that said, am not sure the obsidian board, with skarp o' all posters trying to play otter's role, counts as rl. HA! Good Fun!

  14. FYI, I received this: Thank you for writing and I am sorry to hear you’ve experienced issues in Deadfire that have negatively impacted your gameplay experience. The Developer is hard at work on fixing the major common bugs that have been reported, however I must ask for your understanding as this is a very large game so these solutions will take time to research, implement, and test. I assure we are committed to bringing players the best game experience possible so we will continue to search for ways to improve the console port as we go. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you during your playthrough. Regards, Amanda Kirby Versus.Evil Community & Influencer Manager Discord: Maevri#0001 Twitter: @MaevriPlays

  20. Ok so I've been thinking about this one a lot lately, because I really want to like Shadowed Hunters. I think there is much better to be done with a pl9 ability, and the only pl9 active melee rangers can use. The thing is, there isn't any real offensive use for invisibility in the ranger's kit, and sure it's good for repositionning and a little healing, but you can always use play dead and evasive roll, getting about the same "get to safety"result with extra damage on top. I think that to live up to it's name, "shadowed hunters" must have an offensive component, to get the feel of "we stalk, hunting our prey". And something more exciting than +acc, +%dmg or dots, the ranger has plenty in his kit. My suggestion: Drop cost to 2 bonds, keep the invisibility and healing, and add a 100% graze to hit on the next attack for both the character and the AC. Thoughts ?

  21. Or live in a place where local area transportation kind of still sucks because everything/neighborhoods is/was almost specifically and originally designed around cars. I mean for long work commuters there's a main trainline that is ok these days. Or if the only places you frequent are specific shop spots on one or two main roads it's workable. But if we're talking a dentist 12 miles away not on a main road, then also wanting to run an errand on the other side of town after, not so much. It'd take three or four times as much time for one thing. We have no subway either. Can it be done where I am? Sure, if you really want, and don't mind some lifestyle compromises. But it's not convenient or practical at all most of the time. Eh, I don't think it really matters what "kit" type thing is being used, that's going to be a tiny tiny bit of the cost. The point is neither hubby or I are going to/want to do it at home, so pay for labor we are going to do. :P It's also fine since if he's going to take the whole engine out, he can also do other things that a 21+ year old car could have done, while it's already out. Like some seals - nothing drips yet but you can see a tiny bit of seepage around edges, the timing belt, etc.

  22. these stood out to me as changes i don't particularly like. to be clear - debuffs don't lose duration while they're suspended, so I don't know what "rarely needs more than 10s suspension" means. In practical terms, the 20s duration makes it actually very good, especially with intellect boost. Priest Suppress Affliction suffers because a base 10s suspension means those dangerous stuns or petrifies come back pretty quickly. in addition, a 10s duration buff from the upgrades is real wee. maybe that's more appropriate for a 1 zeal ability, but it makes the ability much less interesting IMO edit - holy thread necro batman! sorry i responded to the OP without recognizing the age of the post, so sorry if these are irrelevant critiques.

  23. Well I went ahead and bought Wolcen last night. The release price went to $40, not $45, btw. The latter is the price for the 'bundle' that includes the soundtrack, which I never care about. Installed fine, loaded up fine, graphically looks pretty nice. Cutscene heavy at the start, but they're pretty to look at. Voice acting seemed more than ok if a bit on the over dramatic side. Running with everything max except my usual disliked effects turned off (bloom, DoF, blur, blah blah). In 4k with vsync off the fps fluctuates a fair bit between 60-90fps mostly. Didn't get far (hubby brought tacos for lunch so I quit) but so far so good. Female chr. appearance is rather weird/bizarre/freaky (reminds me of Firefall beta w/tiny heads/super long legs/high heel, odd posture) but since most of the time you look at your chr. in full armor + small size, I don't notice or care when playing. Does look like a fairly linear campaign, at least to start, not sure how much it opens up. Am using Offline play - I think the Online server connection stuff is borked right now, too busy or something, unsure.

  24. D) Rangers The main direction of change to Ranger Class were the following : - Improve their pet support abilities (which doesn't prevent them from feeling slightly redundant, but at least each one is viable on its own) - Improve Single Class Rangers. Many changes are about reducing the ressource cost of their high Tier ability, but I also wanted to guarantee that pet would always be more an asset than a burden for them. That's why I buffed Bonded Fury for when one wanst a strong pet, and Vengeful Grief for when one doesn't want to care. I also buffed Sharpshooter : +20% Range with all ranged weapons I always found that Sharpshooter does get heavy disavantages compared to their specialization, so I wanted to give them some distinctive advantage which isn't merely raw power Hobbling Shot : Hobbled for 10s->15s (aligned with comparable Rogue Debuff) Heal Companion & Upgrade : 2 Bonds -> 1 Bond Cast time : 3s/4s -> 0,5s/4,5s Range 4m -> 10m Tailored to be comparable to Lay on Hands (slightly longer, can only target pet but has more range and an upgrade that doesn't increase the casting cost) Note : I didn't follow Community Patch change for this one, because I thought Heal Companion should be more spammable than Revive Companion or Play Dead so it should costs 1 Bond. Revive Companion & Upgrade : Revive with 50 health -> 100 health Vengeful Revival : +20% damage -> +30% (so the upgrade worth it) Deadly Surprise : +100% damage -> +300% (so the upgrade worth it. It's only 1 attack with low base damages after a 10s of incapacitation so it isn't that much) Bonded Fury : 3 Bonds -> 2 Bonds Cast time : 0,5s/4s -> 0,5s/0s (aligned with my version of Inspired Discipline : the buff is stronger, but affect the pet instead of a "full-time" character) Twinned Shot : 2 Bonds -> 1 Bond (The reason for this is that Accurate Wounding Shot already does similar damages due to lash mechanics and PL scaling plus super high Accuracy. Not to mention it is a full attack. Twinned Shot has an edge with weapons with on-hit effects, but that doesn't deserve 2 Bonds IMHO. Even in this case, it's normal that a Single Class Ranger gets some slightly stronger ability compared to Multi Class) Vengeful Grief : Duration 15s -> Infinite (note that DEX and MIG affliction still dispell the Inspirations you get) (Just to be sure that pet is always an asset. This basically makes Single Class Ranger Immune to Bonded Grief) Heart Seeker : 4 Bonds -> 3 Bonds Shadowed Hunters : 3 Bonds -> 2 Bonds Distracting Training : 6s -> 15s (I initially planned to make it 10s, then I realized the Pet's Intellect is used to determine the actual duration. Base 15s actually results in a ~10s debuff) Feel free to comment anything that feels missing or overpowered. Updated files : BalancePolishingModBuffs.zip BalancePolishingModNerfs.zip

  26. Oh I can sympathize. I know exactly how you feel. I only have a few hours between work and sleep to play. Or try. If I'm not in a loading screen, I'm crashing to the dash board. And that's IF my save didn't get corrupted from my last crash. This game is a joke and has permanently stained my outlook on the company.

  29. It's not bad, you're just missing on some secret stashes but you can always revisit areas. Later you find a companion with 17 per (if memory serves) that can cover all your needs. I wouldn't worry too much about your per, especially if you play on normal/veteran. You're just going to hit/crit a bit less but that's not really a problem for a character using a mace. crit +%dmg is meh in this game, but +pen is good. A mace character usually won't need pen. Game is very well balanced and lets you roleplay in Normal/Veteran without having to optimise your stats. From what you described and what you expect from your character, your stats are good and you will enjoy your play through One final word of advice (with a very minor spoiler if you want to stop reading). Relatively early in the game you will stumble upon a quest about a feud. Either resolve it peacefully or side with the Bardatto family. Your character will very much enjoy the reward

  32. Thank you for replying and clarifying thr limitations, and (begin: defensive posture) I feel like I have sampled some early potd cheese platters (sending Callista in naked to fight Odema, waiting by wolves as Odema stares at you and is bitten to death--the shenanigans in the bear cave with a low level wizard solo, beetles to Maerwald, trolls to the shipment, foes staying on weird parts of the maps when you leave--whew!! End: defensive posture) Basically, everything I learned and enjoyed and said, 'man, I gotta try this' has been due to people like you, so thanks for setting me straight on this build and replying to my monk questions and thanks for everything. Its awesome to still get tips here for a game that's kinda abandoned. The worst blow for me on this is realizing this only after loving the game, getting it cheap, only to learn stuff like the extra vendor in the compass isn't available to console players. I may have to re-spec her out as a standard potd ranger with whatever dumps are necessary for wounding and uncomplicated bow play and lots of running from my dead boar. I didn't expect to like her this much running alongside the boar. It's adorable.

  33. You guys are out of your mind if you think for one second they're gonna fix this game. They have zero communication with the players. They prolly don't even know it's broken, or don't care. Good luck on that refund by the way. I've been trying to get one for a week and being flat out ignored. Probably because VersusEvil is a garbage company. They're legit worse than Nexon.

  34. I finished Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines couple days back. With unofficial patch it didn't crash on me once and all the quests worked. It's been over ten years since I played it last and I was surprised how much I had forgotten. I literally remember nothing about Chinatown, not quests, areas, or characters. Nothing. Does this mean I'm a racist? It still is the best vampire RPG ever created. Oh, and I think it has the best new game+ mode ever created: playing as malkavian.

  35. easiest way is to be a nature godlike and use swift strikes to get a body inspiration for +1 PL. this would be enough to get you to better-than-legendary as multiclass. You'd need a further +2 PL to get to better-than-legendary. easiest is probably potion of ascension, which is +2 PL for the entire fight. other way is to eat some food that gives you +1 PL and then use a Stone of Power to get +2 total PL (+1 from food, stacks with +1 from necklace) for the fight. IIRC there will only ever be one chant of any kind active. I think the most that happens is that if the chant that is already on someone has a shorter duration than the new chant, the duration gets refreshed, but that's it. (most chants don't do much if they could stack anyway) That being said, most (all?) offensive chants need to roll against enemy defense to check, so it might be worth doubling-up on a single chant if you really need a chant to land (I do this with Thick Thick Grew Their Tongues, because when I need to get rid of enemy concentration, I need to do it urgently, so even if it doesn't stack, it gives me multiple attempts at wiping out enemy concentration). the only exception is "Many Lives Pass By, Each Leaving Footprints" which creates summons instead of buffs/debuffs. There you could have a party of five chanters summoning skeletons all the live long day. Not sure it'd be effective (the summoned skeletons from this chant don't scale with your level) but it sure would be silly

  37. It was but as they said the price of having wolves is sometimes going to be killing wolves. At least it is done in a way that is careful and thought out. Wildlife management is a thing. I usually don't bother the local coyotes but there have been times they have compelled me to thin their numbers a bit. But it would break my heart if they were gone because I love hearing them.
