Even if you use nothing else from the CP, the Icons are worth it alone. I've went from having to mouseover everything to check to being able to see by sight where something is half the time... especially on lines where you might have two "might" icons and 3 "armour" ones, to everything having their own icons.2 points

But the two separate attacks of the individual flail heads have lower base damage - and Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming only repeats the individual hit of one single flail head, not the whole strike. So the enhanced dps percentage with Sun & Moon + Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming should be less than with a spear. I did a similar build but with Rännig's Wrath since Rapiers have +5 ACC out of the box (like spears) but Rännig's Wrath has an additional +4 and can utilize the modal which gives you additional +20 ACC. Good thing about spears though is that there's one that does pierce/slash and not only pierce damage.2 points

You don't want to get any damage. Enduring dance without other source of wounds may be not enough to keep on instruments of pain and thunderous blows (which i forgot to note ). Alternative is to pick hellwalker and switch clarity of agony for mortification of the soul1 point

I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 2 again. I figured this game might hold me over until The Outer Worlds, but I’ve already spent 16 hours in three days of play. So, it’s likely I’ll be finished with it before September at this rate.1 point

FUN TRIVIA FACT, U. S. COMIC BOOKS TYPICALLY USE ALL UPPER CASE LETTERS, AND USE BOLD FOR EMPHASIS OF WORDS INSTEAD OF MIXED CASE AND ALL CAPS. THIS MADE IT HARDER FOR OLD PRINTING PRESSES TO MAKE THE TEXT ILLEGIBLE. CLASSICALLY, UNTIL COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY CAUGHT UP TO IT, MOST LETTERING WAS DONE BY HAND. THE BIG EXCEPTION IN THE U. S. WAS CHARLTON COMICS WHO ACTUALLY HAD A GIANT TYPING MACHINE AND TYPED THE LETTERING IN FOR SOME COMICS DIRECTLY ON THE ARTWORK.1 point

Right... I'm playing with a few Mods this run so exact levels won't be possible for when to take stuff and my totals might be out, @make Weird but has a reason starting Weapon Choices : Sword, Dagger Reason : Dagger until you have Palm for the Parrying Blade modal to allow you to still have the AS buff from Dual Weapons but buff Deflection, Sword because it'll mean you can run Sword/Dagger early if wanted or just go Fist/ Dagger OH. Rogue : starting pick : Escape Early Game : Blinding and then Gouging Strike, Dirty Fighting Late Game : Riposte, Persistent Distraction, Adept Evasion, Deathblows Honourable Mentions ? Deep Wounds Your other main abilities you will use all from Rogue all come on PL increase as auto gains. These are : Mirrored Image : +30 Deflection for 60 sec, -5 Deflection per hit. More AI has a conditional of "Class:Wizard:Mirrored Image is active" which you can then set to (not) to have it recast automatically on expiry via AI. Cost : 1 Guile Repulsive Visage . Cost : 1 guile. Manual cast Terror spell, handy to push back mobs if swarmed Arkemyr's Wondrous Torment . Up to you if you want to have it up continually or on manual. 30s base duration AOE debuff. Cost : 2 Guile ( because it hits both Resolve and Perception it does double work by making your foes easier to hit, while making them more likely to miss... which ties in with Riposte ) Monk : Starting Pick : Swift Strikes ( unless someone can make a valid case for it, I can't see a place for Force in this build ) Early Game : ( you'll be taking Monk Picks usually at start ) Lesser Wounds ( No Brainer as Wounds = Buffs ), Mortification of the Soul ( at first you might not want to have it on AI, but later probably have it set to trigger at Wounds<10 + Health<75%(not) ), Graceful Retreat ( because +12 Def to everything on Disengage is a fair amount ), *Blade Turning* ! Late Game : Duality, Turning Wheel ( offensive as grants Int plus Lash ), Iron Wheel ( defensive as grants Con plus 0.3 Armour per Wound held ) The build generates fast and holds for effect, this isn't a Wound Spender build but a holder since HW gets so much from holding. Thunderous Blows ( this along with HW buff allows us to quite easily reach 35 MIG cap ), Enervating Blows ( remember we're also building for Crit ), Heartbeat Drumming ( again... crit = attack = corpses ) Honourable Mentions ? Parting Sorrow Mutual Picks : Improved Crit!, Uncanny Luck!, Tough, 2WS, S&S The Build basically aims to get Deflection up high, have ability to either Blitz ( Turning plus crits ) or Grind if needed ( Iron plus monk renewables ). It doesn't want Instruments of Pain as while it's using melee items, it also wants to be taking damage every so often. There's a few others I avoided that while nice would have taken either a passive defence pick or crit pick away from the options. Beyond that It's not a massive lot of abilities as it is built to do "One Job", which is Crit as much and as fast as possible ( my early version on Vet had something like 6489 total hits ( 4986 crit out of that )) while having a solid Defelction etc and decent Armour Rating and punish anyone missing them in melee. Mines Currently built for Party Use so you could easily swap the maxed int I have for either more Con or Resolve but is currently AR :11 ( DoC maxed out at Legendary ), Defl 105 Suggested Equipment : ! = required Helm : Blackened Plate Helm / Fair Favour / None ( if going Nature Godlike ( because you will pretty much always have an Inspiration up )) Amulet : Eothasian Charm / personally I run Claim/Refusal for the DPS/Def buff Cape : Shroud of the Phantasm / Hakori's Refuge / Greater Deflection / probably Falling Star if solo Gloves : Ogre ! / Woedicas Strangling Grasp ! Rings : Greater Regen ! / Chameleon or Entonia Signet Ahu Taka or Pathfinder Belt : Undying Burden ( +2 Con, 2nd use of Second Wind ) ! Trinket : Waidwen's Sundail Weapons : Gladiator Sword / Tuoatilo's Palm, Magran's Favour / Slayers' Claw, Kapana Taga / Shattered Vengeance ,Willbreaker ( but specifically Sword/Palm when dealing with anything tough ) Armor : Easiest to get : Devil of Caroc ( Devil's Due ! / Mech Mind ) . Other Options but a bit more work needed : Casità Samelia's Legacy ( focus Intimidate ! ), Gipon Prudensco ( Paranoid !, No Fool I ! ) Unity Console used to Spawn up Items and boost to level 20 on a Hearth Orlan to check stats? Equipment : Glad / Palm, DOC, WSG, Burden, C/R, Plate Helm, Hakoris, Greater Regen / CT, Ahu Taka, Pet : Nalvi Might : 13 Base, +2 Beraths Blessing, +2 WSG, +1 Gift of the Machine, +1 Sac : Maneha, -1 Orlan, +2 Skewers : 20, 35 with 10 wounds and Thunderous Blows Con : 8 base, +2 Beraths Blessing, +2 Burden : 12, 22 with Iron Wheel active and 10 wounds Dex : 4 base, +2 Beraths Blessing, +2 Chameleons Touch, +2 Ahu : 10, 15 with Swift Strikes/Flurry Per : 18 base,, +2 Beraths Blessing, +2 Orlan, +1 WTW ( background ), +1 Blackened Helm : 24 Int : 17 base, +2 Beraths Blessing, +1 Blackened Helm : 20, 30 with Turning Wheel ( feel free to juggle points into other stats, I just like it there for getting good duration out of MI ) Res : 15 base, +2 Berath Blessing, +1 Orlan, +1 Nalvi : 19 Deflection ( with shield upgraded etc ) : 111, 151 with MI and 10 Wounds powering Balanced enhance on Palm If no achievement points for Beraths Blessing : Bonus Attributes, then you could probably get away with stripping INT and also 2 from strength and use Mohara Wraps for +4 instead to keep others up high.1 point

just wanted to confirm some other things said earlier - I previously had speculated that if I were to try again, I would maybe go for Woedica because their spiritual weapon (monk fists + raw lash) is better than skaen's (club/stiletto + pierce lash). But I think to confirm what Decadency alluded to, I honestly can't imagine doing a brilliant-based run that doesn't have a huge source of invisibility like skaen does (or blood mage) thanks to Arcane Dampener and Arcane Cleansing. Nemnok wasn't bad - just had to bait it all out with a few spiritual allies. But Concelhaut is giving me a surprising amount of trouble for my practice character because Concelhaut appears to be on a timer instead of having authentic spell casts, which means casting Dampener or Cleansing even after they've already cast a few. I just had a practice character die because they got Skyward Kicked and were lying on the ground and during the like 1.5s of lying down and then additional standing up time, Concelhaut started and then completed an Arcane Cleansing I didn't know they had left. (Invisibility also helps against dodging Form of the Helpless Beast, which I needed to do a couple times with Nemnok and in Forgotten Sanctum. Not as critical though because with all my buffs Helpless Beasts's tusks are a decent weapon [my practice character literally knocked off like 50% of the final oracle's health just with tusks], and I ended up picking up Monastic Unarmed Training as backup just for these cases where I un-shapeshift and no longer have spiritual weapon.) That being said, it's just a matter of time still. My practice character is doing way better on time than I anticipated - at Concelhaut with 17 days left, with only Auranic and Ukaizo remaining. My real character is catching up and approaching Act IV. Sometimes I fantasize about being able to play Deadfire for pure fun again.1 point

Just booting up game now. I based it off a build I saw for an Unbroken/Trickster Deflection Riposte Tank I saw, his idea was basically to use Fighter obviously the engagement and passives plus the Strike Buffs and the Trickster for Mirror Image, Gouging Strike etc. Like @Ophiuchus he used MUT to boost Palm, S&S and 2WS for buffs, and like me Gladiator Sword for Skrim ( +10% Melee Damage when wielded with a shield, +5 Deflection when wielded with a shield ). Pretty soon between Skrim and S&S you'll be hitting high Deflection and then with other items ( personal choice ) like the Con/Hit to Graze and Hit to Miss items between Nat rolls and converts you should be activating riposte. I took that and then thought about Monk, and specifically HW monk due to the twin buff from wounds mid game. Monk gives you access to Blade Turning and other nice tricks along with on-crit fun and HW gives you both the normal Wheel tricks but also a STR boost for wounds on top ( I think I worked out that I needed 13 base str to be able to max out at 35 in combat with simply Gift from the Machine, Effigy boost, Gloves and food ( skewers for +2 MIG and +1 PL ) plus one from Background once you apply Heartbeat and 10 wound boost from HW class perk ) so you can be running Lash and Int Boost while not a hard fight or Con boost for tougher fights as needed, Rogue and specifically Trickster gives you access to Mirror Image ( large Defelction boost ) and riposte and a pile of deflect/crit boosters plus also escape ( I use it to actually enter combat ) and Gouging for DoT effect to power Sneak and Deathblows. Need to Jump to Shops for dinner, but I'll post the build and what I'm using so far as Equipment once I'm back. @Boeroer and @Waski should be able to decide if it's solo possible, definitely surviving fine so far even without Mind/Body on POTD now it has Blade Turning even when it has multiple Engagers on it and not the tank.1 point

Alternatively, you can switch to RTWP mode for just those fights, and then switch back, using the console. The command does not require you to use the iroll20s command, so you will still be able to complete achievements.1 point

Say "Hi" to the Avatar of Derketo: Sepermeru for scale: Bye bye *blows kiss* So long suckers, I'm outta here! (I did make a backup of my save before doing that) I don't think talking about the "Leave the Exiles Lands" step is spoilers necessarily, but just in case: There's supposedly a major update coming out in September, curious what that's going to be. I'd mostly love more areas to explore but that seems unlikely as the devs have said the current map is already pushing the limits of the Unreal Engine. Only thing I still have to do now is the climbing up high achievement. I'll probably see if I can't just climb the Volcano for that one.1 point

Well, the game can be little bit harder, if you have not good enough reflexes. I had a lot of issues with performing parry myself. The faster reflexes you have, the easier the game is. Also the more patient you are, the easier it is as well I died lot of time, because I am the typical one more hit before I jump away guy. Unfortunately most of the time it was the boss who had the one more hit on me1 point

I find I'm for the most part not very interested in movies nowadays. Mass-marketed stuff seems to be taking over, and I guess that what isn't that just flies under my radar. And then once every ten years or so Tom Cruise does something like Collateral or Edge of Tomorrow and I feel stupid for not giving more movies the benefit of doubt.1 point

The Dark Souls stream went well and my friends and I had a great time watching me learn the ropes and make mistakes. I only died once to the first boss and learned how to parry quickly so it's been going well so far. Seems to me the game's brutally hard reputation is something touted by gamers who grew up with quest arrows, regenerating health, and other dross mechanics.1 point

It's probably not "suddenly", it's just that the previous forum software was old enough that it didn't really have any COPPA implementations. We've now been beamed into the far future of 2012 and forum software that tries to identify users under the age of 13 that may not legally be able to sign up.1 point

Don't nap longer than 30 minutes, it'll mess with your cicardian rhythm and make it harder to sleep at night. Also sleep has roughly 1.5 hour cycles, if you sleep any multitude of that (like 6, 7.5 or 9 hours) you'll probably feel okay regardless of if you got enough sleep. Too little will catch up with you later. I have an overactive mind, AD(H)D and anxiety, so I can take hours before falling asleep and I've had serious problems with unsomnia in the past. But I've got meds now that help me regulate and I've never felt better. It's allowed me to generally get 7.5 hours on weekdays and 9 hours on weekends.1 point

Insomnia is a real problem for me. I don't have it all the time but when I do I have in spurts of days and sometimes weeks. Otherwise I sleep pretty well. When I was running my own business it was not unusual to work round the clock. 5-7 hours is normal when I can shut my brain off... or drown it with booze.1 point

The point I was trying to make is that it's not necessary to wrap all of your NPCs too integrally to the story. I further went on to say that it would get bothersome if it was something that was *always* done. I can understand that you may or may not have a personal preference, but would encourage you to try and look at things differently (because games like KOTOR 2 are extremely rare lol). With fantasy settings like this the *only* thing that's really necessary is for an NPC (it doesn't even have to be a traveling companion, it could just be people you talk to often) *has* to provide exposition to the player, or they'll never really connect with your story/world. Since, especially when you're not working with established fantasy settings, your player is a fish out of water, and will generally feel pretty overwhelmed by all the stuff going on. That's the *role* Kreia fills in KOTOR 2 - because they were trying to mess around with the "canonical" understanding of the jedi code. If you didn't have her, a lot of the situations that are presented would be really confusing to the player, or if they were familiar with the Star Wars setting, they'd be more likely to deal with them in a black and white manner. That's the major difference between KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2. KOTOR 1 is essentially a star wars movie - a fun adventure story. Nothing about the setting, lore, etc, is really challenged, and if anything the Bastila character tries to reinforce a traditional understanding of the Jedi code and so forth. KOTOR 2 of course is entirely about subverting the understanding of what it is to be a jedi - and the Kreia character does this quite well. I know I felt overwhelmed with PE - particularly during my first character creation - those culture descriptions may as well have been word salad, because nothing made any sense. But after a playthrough I feel pretty confident with the lore + setting. All of the NPCs in this game are meant to show/teach the player, in interesting ways, about the setting, so they can become more involved in it + help you in fights. Eder explains the Saint's war and the history of the Dyrwood from the standpoint of a life-time Dywoodan and also Eothas Aloth *shows* the player the pitfalls and intricacies of being awakened - Maerwald does the same only in a more extreme way Durance explains the pantheon and the vagaries of the Gods Kana introduces the player to Rouatia, their culture, and so forth, as well as some historical bits Hal (I can never spell his name) gives you a big insight into Glanfathan culture and their history Pellagina teaches the player about Valian society and also the vagaries of being a god-like Sagani teaches you about the wheel and also about the mountains by the white that wends Grieving Mother teaches you about psionics, ciphers, and the hollowborn epidemic Those are their primary functions in the story - and they help to provide grounding in the setting itself. They obviously have books and stuff you can read in, and out of, game, but typically the most effective way to teach the player things is to tie it into the game itself, and to make it fun, thus you put it into the quests of the NPCs. It's not necessary to put *any* of this onto your NPCs, but they chose to do it here because they're obviously quite proud of the lore they've written up and they want to expose the player to it so as to enrichen their playing experience. Obviously, there's the assumption that the players will be interested in the lore to begin with. The other major problem with tying the NPCs too deeply to the story is the fact that the NPCs can die, permanently, only seconds after recruiting them, and the way the lore is constructed, it'd be difficult for that spirit to move the plot along lol. They didn't have to worry in KOTOR because nobody could die in that game except the PC lol. I understand where you're coming from, I'm simply trying to encourage you to enjoy NPCs that aren't plot-integral. Of all the NPCs I've ever had in various squads, I still remember Ian from fallout 1 most fondly, despite the fact that he spends 1/2 the time trapping you in a corner irreversibly and forcing you to reload, and shooting you in the back. He hardly says anything in the game, but you go through *so* much with Ian you can't help but grow to like the poor guy lol. I assume Imoen gets the same love from players in BG1, because you recruit her immediately after the first area, and if you're not a rogue, you'll carry her for a *long* time, and you form this attachment to her simply because she's been in the group so long - despite a complete lack of interaction or exposition, or importance to the story. I even felt guilty in this game, because Eder is such a nice character, and he saved my bacon early on, but unfortunately, I was playing a tank, so he spent the rest of the game (after I recruited a 6th NPC) sitting in the upstairs of Brighthollow. My second playthrough's sole objective was to give him space to operate so I could carry him to the end of the game lol.1 point
