The never ending struggle to decide whether to: Represent the acting pool. Represent the subjects. Represent the viewers. Pick one, get lambasted for the other two. Still get lambasted for the one you picked because it's not good enough. If you only pick subjects that fill all criteria, all your media starts to converge. Pick something different than what's out there, and all of a sudden you are a target for picking a niche. Except people want niche stories that they aren't already privy to, so the people that complain only do so to self-serve and to try out how far their newest talking points can get them. It's like those complainers forget that the entertainment industry is already one of the most progressive industries out there, and they are still never satisfied if something filmed 6 months ago doesn't abide by the shibboleth of the day.4 points

I have spotted thread about exploiting new Intimidate feature and farming endless cash and resources: So, i decided not to break Intimidation system, because it's one of the core game mechanics all in all - Intimidate still have full functionality, no values changed, you have vanilla chance to avoid fight if you want. But you gain no money and only 3 Food + 3 Drinks - this makes any autistic actions, aimed to farming money or resources, meaningless. Link: https://uploadfiles.io/decubvc03 points

Crafting Hall mid-construction: Shrine of Set: Shrine of Derketo: I'm using a mod that replaces the standard Derketo priest(ess) praying animation with a seductive laying down animation that seems more appropriate to the Goddess of Passion and Death. I also replaced the priestess' skirt with Derketo panties since wonky physics made the skirt look all types of weird in the laying down position.3 points

Hey! I haven't had the opportunity to go through the last DLCs for Deadfire, so I started a new playthrough. I was feeling nostalgic for some Pillars. I decided to start a new playthrough using adventurers based on my former Obsidian co-workers. I have Berath's god challenge on, so if one of them dies, then I'll need to go and create a new dev. Josh is obviously the party leader.2 points

I find it a silly complaint too but I think injurai has it right. I used to get more frustrated with it but my wife, who is eastern European, pointed out something similar to me when we were watching some random movie or show. I was getting frustrated because some of the actors seemed out of place but she was like they're all wrong as none of the actors were the correct ethnicities and they were all speaking gibberish. It's just where the line is drawn is different for different people. I get frustrated watching war movies or most things involving the military as they usually can't get the most basic things right but most people wouldn't notice or care. But to reiterate my first point, I still think it's a silly complaint.2 points

Yeap, I think I can do that. I think it will make sense to add it to CommunityPatchIcons. So if you have that, and SpoilsOfCaedNua both installed, BonusConstatnRecovery will use the new icon. Oh, indeed. I had a surprisingly busy week by my standards. And this one might be similar. If you get some inspiration, yeah, it would be nice) I think there is no urgency in thinking about descriptions and trinket backgrounds, yet. But there is need in: detailed effects name (mainly for a hint that it is possible to make a thematic description later) some kind of purpose. For utility/buffing priests/druid it is nice when they become more flexible (i.e. focus on spells 'granted'). For damage dealers it is nice when they become more specialized, i.e. something with a nice boon but also with a drawback. For debilitators it is nice when they become more reliable, or get bonus to duration/aoe; but have to deal with harsh penalties to damage dealt, health or defenses. And also there could be some effects to open new ways to play. For example there could be a "Symbol of White Forge" trinket, that adds some new Abydon related spells. Specifically I am thinking about "Anvil", "Hammer of Abyddon" and "Resounding Blows" from a custom subclass suggestion I made long ago. So if you happen to like them, feel free to reuse/adapt those ideas. And same thing with Keeper. Hmm, don't really want this. It would probably make sense to add hard-requirement to such trinket, or scaling that would benefit Magranites more than the others.. I.. have doubts that this is possible. I do have some understanding how to make an effect scale with priest's disposition. But dunno if it is possible to make it scale with specific deity disposition. The idea itself is good though. An unusually deceptive priest of Eothas could make use of a trinket with Baby Sneak Attack (that scales with Scaen's dispositions...)2 points

Yes, I was also thinking about bringing back "Inspiring Radiance", "Aggrandizing Radiance" and "Painful Interdiction" as trinket-based effects. Those were my favorite Priest abilites in PoE. So basically they would "upgrade" Holy Radiance and Interdiction - if that's possible. Else they would simply add a better version of the spell to the portfolio.2 points

So I guess the two most voiced demands are: prolong login time/cookie expiration remove editing time limit What do you think, @SChin? Would that be possible to do? I personally would also love to see BBCode editing mode (raw mode) again. It's much better suited for heavily formatted stuff like the build list for example (which I can't edit anymore... ).2 points

Rules of Engagement Marine Corps Rules 1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one. 2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough. 3. Have a plan. 4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won’t work. 5. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet even your friends… 6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a “4.” 7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive. 8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.) 9. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. 10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours. 11. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose. 12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived. 13. Probably not. I'm not great in front of a camera. You can tell in the Pillars 1 documentary and an interview I did at GenCon. Josh is a Paladin/Monk, always looking for perfect balance. I can't believe it's been close to a year. I had some tragedy in my life and decided to start a new chapter. I took an amazing opportunity at FoxNext Games and even though I miss working at Obsidian, I love what I'm doing now. Kaz, the Wizard, died in my playthrough at the top level of the digsite. He got replaced by Brennecke, a wizard/druid. I feel like that fits a Programmer. Fun fact, I named the Shiba Inu pet Kaz in Deadfire because Kaz always used the doge meme in temp art/icone2 points

Mortars = Hand Mortar & Fire in the Hole, exaclty. The builds are pretty straightforward since they are single classes. PL8 and 9 are still single class only. But honestly a lot of classes are better as single class builds nowadays due to good PL8/9 abilites, earlier ability progression and earlier and higher Power Level scaling - except in the early to mid game when you pick very front-loaded classes (like Rogue and Paladin for example). At least in a party. Solo is different.1 point

The AoE is separate from the initial attack roll. That's the case with all AoE weapons. So you will never be able to do an AoE-Backstab unless you use Vanishing Strike (Rogue PL 9). Reason is that the invisibility/stealth drops right after the initial hit and the following AoE hits are handles as seperate hits which will already be done without stealth/invisibility. Same with blunderbusses and other multi-shot weapons (Frostseeker for example). Another thing with AoE would be that you have to be <2m away from the target i order to trigger Backstab and that that is difficult to achieve with an AoE attack roll. Since WotEP has lower base damage than a normal Great Sword it's especially bad for Backstabbing. Exception: the enchantment "Run Through" is very good for Backstabbing because it has high base damage. You can only do it 1/encounter though. Vanishing Strike is an exception because its invisibility doesn't break during duration o matter what you do. That means all attack rolls will count as Backstabs - as long as they are considered as weapon attacks AND they happen not more than 2m away from where you stand. Weird behaviour with Soul Annihilation + Backstab should be fixed. Afaik they work together and SA's raw dmg will receive a bonus from the Backstab damage. Just use another weapon. Chromoprismatic Quarterstaff for example is nice - as are two handed Battle Axes A really great glass cannon "invisibility" build is SC Assassin or SC Streetfighter with Vanishing Strikes, Gambit and dual mortars. Destroys mobs in seconds while being untouchable. Another way is to use SC Monk with Whispers of the Wind (also makes you invisible which an be combined with the Stalking Cloak that stuns from invisibility). However, WotW does not use the AoE of WotEP but only its initial attack - so also no recommendation for WotEP here. Whith mortars again it's devastating though.1 point

I just tried to start playing Deadfire again, and while I have not finished tweaking, it runs worse than ever post 5.0. I have massive, huge, stutters - like it locks up for half a second, every 30 seconds, always. Apart from that it stutters frequently in conversations, otherwise as well. I have a 2700x and a RTX 2080. Please Obsidian - in neither POE1 or POE2 did you fix your awful frametimes, choppy gameplay and overall stuttering. Please understand that for some of us that are sensitive to this, it makes the game so much less enjoyable. In certain areas like Fort Deadlight it really impacts gameplay. It runs really, really badly (got about 35-50 FPS with huge stutters there). Unity gets lots of ****, but frankly other developers don't have anywhere near the same extent of issues with frametiming or choppiness. I would guess it is because they care about the issue and either have or procure the expertise needed to sort it. For your next games, you have to start to take this seriously. Moving to Unreal is a good move (Unreal 4 is a super smooth engine), and I hope you stick with that for an eventual POE3. It's such a shame that you craft such beautiful games that are so engrossing and fun to play, all while you constantly get ripped out of it due to huge stutters.1 point

How does it matter if the Ultimate has a deadline or no, when your deadline for Ukaizo will still run out? Not having completed the Ultimate quest and ending the deadline will result in failure of the Ultimate, obviously you can't go back to the bosses after beating the game.1 point

Yes, it's possible and my vote for using this idea in trinkets. And i can simply add additional effects on HR / Interdiction attack - so "upgrade version" is possible. Keep that in mind. So... 1. You writing trinkets, based on all info we put together in last days. Some lore description + icons suggestions. And locations where we can find / buy. 2. I do the whole "inside job" - create items, abilities and so on. 3. Max can put together all this stuff and deliver it to the game's world. 4. Profit))1 point

Go on) P.S. Also we can include in trinkets Holy Radiance spell with some different additional effects, depending of deity. Since we lack of develop HR in Deadfire... I think it might be interesting.1 point

Decay is fit Rymrgand too, so i changed it to "Punishment", "Decay". BUT! I didn't noticed that attack section for this spell contains "Acid" keyword. So it will be fair to substitute "Decay" with "Acid". Yes, i'll do this as separate mod on this week. I will leave untouched only Firebrand with "Fire" KW, Kalakoth's Minor Blights with elemental KW's, and Rot Skulls with "Desease" and "Decay" KW's. Any other elemental KW on weapons is not worth all those troubles with immune enemies.1 point

I second BBCode editing. It's probably the one thing I miss the most.1 point

The problem with too many keywords on one single ability is indeed that Power Level buffing and also PEN buffing via Heart of the Storm etc. can get out of hand. Take the example of Greater Maelstrom which hats lots of keywords: +1 PEN from Heart of the Storm +1 PEN from Scion of Flame +1 PEN from Secrets of Rime +1 PEN from Fury passive +2 from Deltro's Cage +1 from Otto Starcat or +1 from Pozzi +3 Power Level from Lord Darryn's Voulge or +4 PL from Sund and Moon+Magran's Favor or +3 from Chromoprismatic Staff And this is without universal PL buffs like Wellspring of Life, Prestige, Power SUrge etc. - just keyword based PL and PEN stacking. Every Power Level scales the base damage of the spell by 5%. You can now easily stack 7 PL on Greater Maelstrom which means +35% multiplicative damage. Use with decent MIG (e.g. +30% dmg bonus) and you are at 35*1.3 = 45.5% dmg bonus for Greater Maelstrom. Ouch. Thus one has to be careful with adding keywords - even if it would make total sense from a "logical" perspective. You would break balance of spells otherwise: make some (with many keywords) potentially OP while others will fall behind (e.g. non-elemental spells). @Phenomenum: If Vatnir's Death Ring gets the Decay keyword there's something wrong I'd say? Since it's a druid-exclusive keyword (like Priests have their exclusive keywords, too). It shouldn't have that I think. It should get something like Punishment and Acid - so basically Priest + universal elemental keywords? Edit: Eh, sorry . like you said in the edited quote (which I missed the first time while reading it). With Cadebald's Blackbow: also like Phenomenum said: it does more harm than good (even it it makes total sense): the implementation of immunities (on enemies) prevents that a weapon does damage at all if it is tagged with the fitting elemental keyword: no matter which type of damage it actually does. Example: if you fire at a shock immune enemy with Essence Interrupter (which is keyworded with shock) you won't so any damage even though you have pierce/shock damage. The game first checks if the attack it self is keyworded with shock, discards it if that'sthe case and will not get to the point where it would check which damage type would be better. Thus: better to remove elemental keywords from all weapons which do have dual damage types or different damage types than the keyword: Dragon's Dowry (does pierce damage but has fire keyword: no damage against fire immune enemies). There are weapons that do the same damage type as the keyword they are tagged with: Kalakoth's Minor Blights for example. For those the keywords are fine because they deal exactly the type of damage they are keyworded with. So no harm done: if the enemy is immune to fire an you attack it with a fire keyworded attack taht also does fire damage everything works as expected - in other words: no damage but no surprise.1 point

Actually Rogues in this game don’t rely on attacks from stealth/invisibility all that much. Only the Backstab ability works that way, and you can choose not to pick it. Sneak Attack and Death Blows both activate if your target has Afflictions, which ideally you’ll want to bestow anyway.1 point
-
Afaik Decay is a druid-specific keyword and thus shouldn't be on wizard spells. Or are there other wizard spells that use it? @Phenomenum: will write down summary later. Also kind of busy right now.1 point

SC Helwalker was using fists. My intention when I hired the SC Helwalker merc was not to do a direct comparison between it and the Brawler; I just wanted to try WotW with the cloak. In doing so, I realized the Helwalker just felt more powerful and generally more satisfying to play despite lacking a lot of additional bonuses that my Watcher had (e.g. stat boost from Berath's Blessings, Gift from the Machine, etc.) As for speed, I use Faster Deadfire and stacking bonuses stops being effective after a while. Sure, I could stack another bonus to shave another 0.1 or 0.2 from my recovery, but 0.1/0.2 hardly make a difference. If you use Berath's Blessings to unlock Edér's pet slot and give him Nalvi, then use either Abraham or Cutthroat Cosmo for the Watcher with Armored Grace, you remove the recovery penalty completely from medium armor. EDIT: Just tried Streetfighter / Priest of Berath and it is a killing machine against mobs. I was hoping to play Tekehu as a SC Druid this time, but I'll probably need the Wisp summon to get Flanked against bosses.1 point

I am very critical when it comes to writing. I know this, so I try to allow for my inner editor, my demanding nature, and give people a chance. But I am not ever buying another Larian game. There comes a point when we need to stop finding fault with ourselves and accept the fact that some people should not be doing certain jobs. Larian should keep to coding, to making nice graphics, to making music. They should not have any input on the writing. They are worse than what Bioware devolved into in the Dragon Age series (whiny dialogue in a fantasy dating sim located in plot-hole central). Ironically enough, Dragon Commander was the one game were their writing mostly worked. It also was their one game were the gameplay didn't.1 point

Hello, i'm not an Obsidian guy, but i think i can help. Open your error.log (each of them). See? mono.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) Access Violation (0xc0000005) - it's the kind of error, when program (or program .dll component) couldn't read or write information into (or from) your memory. In your case this program component is mono.dll Look at your memory stats: 8109 MB physical memory [598 MB free]. - Your RAM 8109 MB paging file [16 MB free]. - Your Paging file Write to location 08011000 caused an access violation. - Game can't write information to your system's memory. So it obviously not enough memory for Deadfire. You must close some unused applications OR adjust your Paging file size to 12 or 16 GB. I've encountered exact the same problem (with mono.dll), with 16 GB RAM onboard and 2 GB Paging file size (because i was sure this is enough). When i adjusted my Paging file size, all crashes is gone. P.S. Avgurkov... Another russian spy?1 point
