  1. I have recently begun working on a game for me to play with my friends during our hangout. It's DND-based but also kinda branches off the normal DND style. I am currently working on the lower yard and have a few things in the game. The crafting recipes in the game will stay the same. I am also trying to make small cards to represent bugs and robots. Not sure if the enemies are balanced but you do find a starter kit to help you defend yourself. Will update soon.
  2. Hey all, I saw that last year Obsidian held a summer internship for college students and was wondering if there were plans to do it again this year? And if anyone did it last year how did it go? Thank you in advance!
  3. So from about 3 months ago, the game save folder located in "C:\Users\"username"\Saved Games\Grounded Windows 10" went missing. Even though this happened I was still somehow able to use my game save file with no problems. Recently however I exported my main save then proceeded to delete all the saves, from clogging up my system, if they were there, and re installed the game hoping it would solve the issue. I created a new folder which was labelled "Grounded Windows 10" hoping that would work, however it did not. When starting the game and clicking load...there is nothing there. So at the moment it is impossible to import game saves. I tried creating a new save file with no internet connection too, this also showed another bug. If you create a game, then save it with no connection there is no way you can reload that save. Even reconnecting to the internet didn't help, and the game created with no internet connection is lost. Is there a location in the PC where it could be? I have done a complete system search with the name of the folder and/or the save, for example "7519152C0..." or "ID-FB48369..." and still nothing so it is a mystery! XD. On a second note, not sure if this is known or fixable but the key for export 'S' is also the key for showing backup saves. Hope there is an easy fix for this or I am just being stupid! love the game so far...thanks!!
  4. Hi, i've just bought the game, and I really love it, but after the caravan level (A moment's respite) it keeps freezing and then crashes. How can I solve this issue? Edit: I tried to restart the game, but doesn't work and gives me a message of error. It also says to send a folder to the developers. crash.dmp error.log output_log.txt report.ini
  5. Greetings, everyone. I hope you're having a nice day. As the title says, what are some survival horror games that require a considerable time investment to beat? I've recently stumbled upon "Lost in Vivo" which seems to be right up my alley save for its disappointingly short campaign. I don't hold it against the developer because they're indie and all but it has me thinking whether there are any other games in the same vein that take more than just a few sittings to complete. Does anything come to mind? Cheers to anyone who helps me fill my upcoming Christmas break with neat games.
  6. Hello, I'm a big fan and rly thank you for your job - a lot of hours of fun with both chapters (but first is best). I love to spend time with friends and gaming is part of it, they also prefer rpg games like TES, Fallout, NVR etc. so I want to buy PoE II as a gift for them (three of them) and it cost a lot for me. So, it is possible and IF!? Then when PoE will be cheaper? Thank you
  7. It took me 109 hours to finish my first game. I've left the game running, while being AFK and therefore the actual playtime is maybe around 90 hours. This duration should tell you: A) I did enjoy the game B) You get a lot of playtime for your buck (regardless the quality) C) I have probably experienced a LOT of the content. First I want to thank the devs for a good game and I want to express that I had fun playing it. This said, it wasn't all wonderful .. Here is my hopefully constructive feedback: - Why sidekicks? I did collect them all, but I never used them. To me they are the same as generating your own crew. They're not needed and just complicate your hero selection (as in I need to scroll to the left and right to find the actually real companions). - As in the first game the story was "meh". It was just a bit boring. The devs failed to make me really care about my character, the major parties or the world itself. I'm not sure if I'm just not interested in the world, the philosophical questions or if they're just not that good at story telling (no offense). Don't get me wrong, there were interesting parts in it and I didn't roll my eyes while playing, but it just didn't really grip me. - The game had what felt like 5 main quests. So even though I played 90+ hours, I feel like I didn't actually do anything expect some busy work quests like mapping the place, hunting ships and such (Far Cry style). It reminds me a bit of Gothic 3, where one had ONE main quest = Find Xardas (or whatever his name was). Maybe I just feel that way because I was missing more of .. something? - That's made worse by the mindless exploring. The player uncovers mostly meaningless islands with randomized loot. There is a portrait hovering over an island and there are maybe 3-4 "items" of which one is an encounter and one a mini dungeon. I strongly disliked this kind of exploring. It felt cheap/random. - What's going on with those mini maps/dungeons? Here's a little something, there's a little something … I liked the first Pillars better in that regard. This just wasn't enough. - Basically the game has one main city. Again, this isn't enough. I suppose the first Pillars was similar and had about the same amount of "maps", but here it felt like not enough content. If the devs want, they can see it as a compliment that I couldn't get enough of it. But I don't think that's exactly it. - It felt to me like I've read all the books already in the first pillars. After trying to read about 3 of them, I gave it up. - I've played the difficulty below Path of the damned, I think and with battles including vampires as exceptions the fights were way too easy. What happened? In fact for most battles I just used the standard AI and didn't do much at all. I should have scaled the fights, I think. - A lot of bugs are still in the game. Bugs regarding the adventure book, the enchanting system, the dialogue system and the reputation system really caught my attention. For a long time the game didn't even properly recognize the skill buffs my equipment gave me. Not cool. Aloth seemed especially bugged out. The totems were bugged as well. Or rather the statusbar. Several times my chars had 20-40 times the debuff. - Personally, I didn't enjoy the Caribbean scenario much. That's a me problem. - The ship fights were BAD. They felt like they didn't belong into the game. Sure, I won them, but they were tedious and boring. Not a fan. - What was going on with this version of romance? I romanced Maia … Me:"let's be together"...Her:"okay, do one quest for me" …Her:"ok, XY likes you so I like you" AND THAT'S IT? Is this a bug? Did the dialogue not fire? Why include romance at all? There were no personal talks or anything. Better just not to have the option. - Not satisfied with the ending either. I always tried the diplomatic approach, didn't choose a side and it all ended in chaos. Sure, I get the reasoning, but I wasn't really given an alternative. I usually manage to get good endings. Not here, apparently. After a break I might try out some other endings. - The characteristics for the MC that influence the dialogues could be maxed (max = 2?) in 2-4 hours. That's too fast and the implementation into the dialogues felt meaningless for 70% of the cases. Pillars 1 seemed better in this regard. Same goes for character reputation. There was even a Cathwenna (or something like that) NPC that didn't want to accept my help because my skullduggery (or whatever) was at 2. I barely did any shady things … - I only liked Eder and Aloth again. Once more didn't care about the rest of them. Alright, here some positive things: - The graphics were great. I don't care too much about that. Pillars 1 was good enough for me. - The animations are nice. Again, I don't really focus on that and I was happy with the first part already. - The choose your own adventure book style was done well. I liked how it was combined with the other story telling. - Multi Classes are cool. I did enjoy the White Marches. How come Pillars 2 feels like a step back (to me)? Suggestions for future Pillar Games: - Graphics and Animations are good enough. Please focus on story, fights and more content. - Forget about the watcher. Let us make a new character in this world. - How about making us the son/daughter of a noble man/woman/person and we inherit his/her/their run down keep, village, advisors and enemies (external + internal)? This is for me a good way to make me care about something (a personal story, where I build up stuff). The devs only partially succeeded with this in Pillars 1. Cad Nua never really felt like a home to me. - Keep the story on a small scope for Pillars 3. Keep it personal. Maybe it becomes an epic story with Pillars 6 or so, when we're made the king's/queen's general/marshal or something. It would be so great to really see the improvements from game to game and also the years go by. Climbing up the feudal system step by step would be amazing … with intrigue, drama, tournaments, wars, alliances. Of course the different outcomes would have to be limited. [EDIT] If I had to rate the game, it would be a 7 / 10. For me that's a rather high ranking. For the gaming industry that wouldn't be regarded a "good" rating. Well, they're wrong.
  8. Update by Josh Sawyer, Project Director and Brandon Adler, Lead Producer Hey, everyone. After two and a half years, we're happy that you're finally going be able to get your hands on Pillars of Eternity. It's been a great pleasure to work on a traditional PC RPG again and it wouldn't have been possible without your interest, support, and feedback. We hope that playing Pillars of Eternity gives you the same feelings you had when you played the Infinity Engine games. Many of you have told us how much these games have meant to you over the years. It's always been our goal to recapture that experience as well as we can. We've worked hard to provide you with a beautiful world to explore, flexible systems that allow you to build all the characters and parties you can dream up, and a rich story that responds to the choices you make. Nothing can replace the Infinity Engine games, but we hope Pillars of Eternity is a worthy successor to that heritage. Thank you again for all you have done. -Josh Sawyer Kickstarter Tiers and Special Editions Due to popular demand we have created special Kickstarter Backer editions on both Steam and GOG. These editions match the retail versions of the Hero, Champion, and Royal editions, but they come with a few extra Kickstarter goodies. When you go onto your Products page on the Backer Portal you will see which Kickstarter edition was granted to your Kickstarter tier. This was done so that people could download their rewards in multiple places. Unfortunately, we were unable to map every tier perfectly. We have many tiers, many different combinations of add-ons, and only a few Kickstarter editions. Don't worry, though, because if your Kickstarter edition doesn't come with a reward you should be getting for your Kickstarter tier you can download it from the Backer Portal. In fact, the Backer Portal is the official way to download your rewards - we will always have them available for you on the Portal. If you would like to see what products come with your Backer tier you can find that information by going to your Orders page on the Backer Portal. If you expand your order you can click on the "What does this include?" link to see all of your rewards associated with the order. Steps to Redeem Your Items All of the steps outlined below have assumed that you have set up your account and confirmed your pledge. If you have questions about confirming your pledge, please read through our previous update on how to do so. If you follow these steps below, you will able to redeem your rewards: Head to the Backer Portal and go to your My Products page. Each entry on the Products tab is a reward that you can redeem. Depending on your tier you may have many different types of products to redeem. Let's start with redeeming a game code for your platform of choice. First step in redeeming the key to your copy of the game is to click on the game's entry to expand it. Once expanded click on the "Choose Platform" button to bring up a menu where you can select your preferred platform. We offer the choice between Steam and GOG. Once you have selected your platform you can press "Generate Key" to create a download key. Note that once you have generated a key for a platform it may not be changed in the future. Choose wisely. After your game key is generated you will be given instructions on how to redeem the key in your platform of choice. If you are redeeming a different type of reward, a PDF of the Campaign Almanac, for example, the process is the same. Expand the product entry and click the button to download the reward. And that's it. Using the processes described above you will be able to generate game keys and download all of your available rewards. As more rewards are finished, like the documentary, they will appear on your list of rewards to redeem. You may download your rewards as much as you like, but there is a short time limit on each link that is generated by the Backer Portal. If you are attempting to download from an old link, it is best to generate a new one by going through the process above. Documentary and Novella As most of you know we will be releasing the documentary and the novella after we release the game. For the documentary, this was to ensure that you could view the full journey of Pillars' creation - including the release of the game and launch party, and for the novella, that it is done at the highest quality for Backers. Both of these items will not be available on the Backer Portal initially, but once they are released you will be able to download them like any other reward. Printed Rewards If you are not getting the printed Strategy Guide and Collector's Book, but you would like one, you still have a chance to purchase them. Dark Horse - Collector's Guide We partnered with Dark Horse to bring you the Pillars of Eternity Collector's Book. Where the Prima Strategy Guide will be your go-to companion for all your walkthrough and strategy needs, the Collector's Book is there to satisfy the most hardcore lore enthusiasts. Whether your pledge included a physical copy or a digital copy, the Collector's Book is something we're sure you'll be happy with. We're very proud of it and we think Dark Horse did an amazing job bringing it to life. The content of the book covers everything you would want to know about the world of Eora. Among the many informative chapters, you'll find detailed information on the people and gods, as well as the history of the Eastern Reach and recent events. There's even a detailed bestiary explaining the origins and habits of Eora's creatures. It's available for order from a variety of online retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Random House. Prima Games - Collector's Edition Strategy Guide We've been hard at work collaborating with Prima Games on the strategy guide for Pillars of Eternity. The folks over at Prima Games are not only working on creating the awesome Digital Guide for you Backers, but will also be releasing a beautifully printed copy of the guide. Pillars of Eternity is a big RPG, and Prima Games is working to make sure that every inch of our huge game world is covered. The guide will include: Main Quest: A comprehensive walkthrough of the main story. Side Quests and Tasks: An easy reference to all side quests. Atlas: Maps for all critical locations in the vast world of Eora. Training: How to create a character and expertly assign points to attributes and skills. Achievements, Secrets, and exclusive bonuses. The guide will also feature a Thank You section. If you pledged at a tier that included getting your name in the game's credits, you'll also find yourself featured here! As an added plus, all physical copies of the guide will include an access code for a free digital guide, viewable on any connected device. If you missed out on pledging for the strategy guide, the Collector's Edition Guide is a great option for getting all the tips and tricks you'll need for your journey through Eora. To grab your copy of the Collector's Edition Strategy Guide head here. That's it, everyone. We really appreciate everything you have done for us. Now go redeem your game keys and be prepared to get sucked into Pillars of Eternity.
  9. I just recently got PoE and it seems I have come across a game breaking issue. After I have created my character, the game tells me my main quest is to Journey to the Gilded Vale and then I am free to run around. However I can't do anything other than fight two wolves that are towards the western part of the map. I looked up a couple of walkthroughs on Youtube and found that Caravan Master Odema is supposed to talk about some things and the game is supposed to progress. I have tried talking to Odema but nothing happens when I click on him and when I try talking to Calisca it puts me in battle against her. I am playing the game on patch 3.01 and through GOG. Is there something I am overlooking or is this some anomaly that has happened to me ? Edit: I have also tried the Verify/Repair game option through GOG Galaxy but to no avail.
  10. I've ran into an amazing FREE game in the making I never knew this fan-made game existed, but it exactly what it sez on the tin. You guide your chapter to glory or ruin. http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Chapter_Master_%28game%29 SCREENSHOTS PICTS: http://i.imgur.com/0FufKr9.png http://i.imgur.com/D45aBwi.png Also, BEHOLD the most heavily defended planet in the Imperium: https://media.8ch.net/tg/src/1433073548729.jpg
  11. If one of my party member approaches friendly NPC, he automatically engage with NPC. and when he leaves NPC, disengage attack triggered and combat begin. I have to kill all NPC. I can't interact with any NPC! Please help! I am playing v1.03.0530 [save file] https://www.dropbox.com/s/y1a8y4v8vqavp7f/b6567708abd9426db6022234c24de1c0%2019600847%20CaedNua.savegame?dl=0
  12. I have found a working savegame fix the will load savegames and create new working non corrupt savegames This has been tested and working on 3 different machines with 5 different save files myself and have had 2 other friends fix their savegames with this method. First delete the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Obsidian Entertainment Then delete the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Obsidian Entertainment If you have any saves in C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Pillars of Eternity Copy them to C:\Users\username\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity Run the game as admin and load the most recent save Move your char and save a new save. Without exiting the game reload that new save. Save again in the same save. Exit the game. That should work and create new files in LocalLow and Local\Temp Though its probably unnecessary before i exit i save then i load my save and resave the same save everytime before i exit the game now. I have my 60+ hour save now to 85 hours without an issue on multiple machines. Please dont ask questions or expect me to explain this again if it works great if it doesnt or you cant figure it out good luck.
  13. So I understand that the various factions in Defiance Bay are at odds with each other and that choosing one will result in not being able to interact with the others. That makes sense to me, even if I messed it up in my most recent play through. However, I found that when aligning with one (the mafia-like one), I had already completed quests with both the dozens AND crucible knights. As such, the game has now locked me out of ALL factions, as I am at a "faintly good" reputation with each of them. Is this a bug or intended? I like the idea of exclusive faction quest-lines and such, but the execution here is baaaaad. It should be structured so that when you compete a quest for one of the factions, your reputation with the other factions drops considerably so that you are unable to complete any quests you currently have for the other factions but your aligned faction's quest-line stays intact. Currently I cannot do quests for any of them, and that's kind of a bummer. I hope that makes sense. Can anyone shed light on the topic for me?
  14. Hi, I am currently at begining of the game, at the Hound Dog to be more precise. I am trying to recruit a lv 2 companion in my party but the game crashes EACH time after the character creation. The screen goes black then I have the following error message: Has anyone encountered this issue yet? Is there any workaround because It is very annoying. I've just bought the game and I'm already putting the game on hold because I can't do something as simple as hiring a new party member... I've attached the output_log.txt file. I still have the crash reports if needed. Thanks for your help, Karma.

  16. Hi all! I was interested in finding out if there will be a retail (boxed) version of this game on sale on online retailer; ie. Amazon, if anyone can shed some light on this, preferably a developer or a member of the team it would be appreciated. I was just wanting to check before I made a pre purchase as I have always preferred getting a box with disc plus the classic RPG map etc. (digital items are kind of worthless and not-so-cool) ps. The game looks great and I will be making a purchase regardless. Thanks
  17. Just wondering if anyone can help me, I've reached Canada and I have used the dragon shout and cupcake on Terrance and Phillip but when I use the sneaky squeaker the game goes straight to a loading screen and does't load. I've tried cleaning the disc and the Ps3 laser but its still the same.
  18. http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/ One month to make a game under one hour in length. $10k prize. Anyone interested? I was thinking of using RPGMaker myself; not the most creative, I know, but the proof is in the game that comes out of it.

  20. I started playing The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot. I am not yet certain how much time I will spend in the game and there are grounds for criticism (ask Monte Carlo, who has a valid, understandable dislike for the game already). But for those who are interested, and because having friends in the game increases the fun one can get out of it. Here is a post about what it is: The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot It is a hybrid game, combining building a la Dungeon Keeper, with action rpg killing of monsters and looting of loot (a la Torchlight etc (yeah not going to say Diablo ). There are two parts to the game: Attacking and Defending. Attacking is pretty straight forward: you pick a castle to raid, travel to it (using magic or something) and try to reach the treasure room, dodging traps... and killing monsters on your way.... The gold and life force you loot you then store in your own treasure room, in your own castle. That brings us to the second part, defending: You are the proud homeowner of one flying castle. And just as you loot other people's castles, they can raid yours: To prevent that, you fill your casle with... traps of your own... and monsters of your own... All in an attempt to prevent would be thieves from reaching your Castle Heart (yeah... it's so not a Dungeon Heart...) As you level up your castle, you gain access to more creatures, more traps... more rooms... upgraded creatures... and a greater income Once you have build a castle you like, you have to validate it by raiding it yourself Once that is done, your castle goes public and is there for the community to enjoy. ------------------------------------------ So what is the downside? The game is free to play with a cash shop. Free? That is great! True... And nobody forces you to buy XP-Boosts, Loot-Boosts etc for real cash. Or to unlock new heroes through real cash. New heroes? Yes, as you start the game you can select one from a choice of three heroes: Mage, Knight, Archer. A fourth hero, the Roadie, is available through the cash store. The gems (the currency bought through real cash) can slowly be earned in-game, so a lot of things may eventually be earnable just by playing... a lot That doesn't change the queasy feeling you may get when looking at the store an noticing the "ultimate pack" for a LOT of cash. The other thing that can rub you the wrong way is the browser game style of logging in to have gotten raided repeatedly by random strangers while you were asleep. Luckily, once you get looted (I read somewhere that the looter takes 20% of your stash), your castle is shielded from further looting for 12 hours or so. That doesn't mean your ranking wont go down. On the other hand: ranking? Who cares? The fun part is building a castle and hoepfully watching replays of people failing at raiding it And it takes a while until you can unlock all the cool bits. Oh and of course: Ubisoft ------------------------------------------ Who is this game for? People who like building death trap dungeons. People who like to share what they build with friends and random strangers. People who like to raid dungeons and collect loot. But building is the main bit. So if anyone wants to journey to the lands of Opulencia, send me a friend request. I'm Melkathi ingame as well. So:
  21. Even though I have a HUGE backlog of games waiting to get played and I realy should clone myself to keep up with it, there are games I am planning to buy. Here is a/the list (queue Law and Order jingle) : 1) Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe: a remake of the old Shufflepuck Cafe game, it looks fantastic and apparently plays realy well. It released today and I am doing my very best to stop myself from buying it. 2) Frozen Endzone: I mentioned it today in another thread. It is the sports game of the people who made Frozen Synapse, one of the best tactics games ever made. I am very excited to see how they handle a future sports game a la Speedball. It is currently in beta. 3) Pandora First Contact: The spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri ? We have forumites who have played it and I think the verdict was wait for a patch. So I am waiting, biding my time. 4) Dominions 4: I like the idea of being a godlike entity and trying to take over the world. I am not much for multiplayer though and apparently the AI still needs work. 5) Age of Wonders 3: Very excited about all the character creation options, though they make me a bit underwhelmed with the prospect of the single player campaign and the story characters: I want to play my own hero edit: and I didn't include the kickstarters I have backed, since technically when they come out I'll have them and wont need to wish for them
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV2OAgm-IOw This free indie game is fun, fun, FUN! But brutal. You will die. A LOT! In grousome ways. LINK TO GAME: fenglee.com/game/aog TIP: Change cammera mode with C immediately. The default mode sucks. Also use Q and E 99% of the time. The hooks go for where you are targeting and is much more precise. Space is for when you want to catapult yourself in the air or are in a street between buildings.
  23. Steam has a sale on Defiance for the next two days. It's cheap enough that I'm considering buying. Anyone play regularly and do we have a group going yet? Is it worth 19 quid?
