I actually kind of like the new Item Upgrades *ducks*
AndreaColombo replied to prototype00's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I used freerecipestoggle and while unique enchantments indeed exclude each other, all items went up to legendary. If that is the case without the console too, the whole system is pretty rad.

American accent in CRPGs. Yes or No?
AndreaColombo replied to Amigo345's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I’m not overly fond of Xoti’s accent so far, but not because of its regional nature. More like I don’t particularly enjoy its musicality, for lack of a better word. It’s possible it’ll grow on me over time, though. As an Italian, I’m pretty OK with how they try to imitate the Italian accent for Vailian characters. Yes, it is obvious that they want to sound Italian and yes, they don’t actually sound like me or my friends when we speak English—and you should be grateful that they don’t! :D

unbalanced unique distribution (by weapon type)?
^ very strong contender with Whispers of the Endless Paths for the best endgame weapon, then. Looks like I’m undecided again XD

The hand slot also has bracers and gauntlets; you may want to do a findgamedata for "hand_"

The First Impressions Thread
AndreaColombo replied to Sedrefilos's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)+ Graphics look amazing. + Very good environmental audio, which is a somewhat of a rarity nowadays. + Great soundtrack and VA (I especially love that my character can have Allegra Clark's voice.) + Writing is stellar. I'm enjoying it very much. + Itemization is so much better than PoE's I don't even. - We really need to be able to skip the slow-walk intro in subsequent playthroughs, as many have mentioned. - A few bugs that need ironing.

Any crazy strong Helms found yet?
My first build will be a 2H devoted/helwalker. With the right equipment you can get your recovery below 2s, which is pretty darn good for a 2H in Deadfire.

Any crazy strong Helms found yet?
There is one that gives -20% recovery with 2H (I used the console so I don’t know where/how it is found.)

Estocs also have a healthy number of good uniques. 1H swords have a healthy number, but they aren’t as good as the sabres, great swords, or estocs. The pollaxes are two but they are admittedly pretty cool. Armors also don’t have a lot of uniques. In general I believe this is because uniques in DF are *actually* unique and take longer to design and implement (unique abilities with unique upgrading paths for each.) I was surprised not to find the flaming sword Josh showcased on Pallegina in an early tweet.

There’s a plate armor that may synergize well with that soul bound pollaxe (depending on whether the latter is affected at all by power level.)

Do Shifter Claw attacks sync with Devoted weapon specialisation?
They didn’t in the beta; haven’t checked yet in the release version.

Spells and Abilities Discussion Thread
It doesn't help that itemization in Deadfire is fantastic. I used the console to check out some items and there are estocs and great swords that are pretty darn good. Same with sabres, and I believe the best armor in the game happens to be a breastplate. Indeed, the armory's breastplate should at the very least have no recovery penalty, and the weapons perhaps some unique ability. The black bow looks underwhelming too. The VFX itself is cool but the bow is very meh.

Firebrand: Glad to see it has a burning lash at long last. It made no sense for a sword that is literally made of fire not to have one. Visually it's the same as the beta and to me it looks unfinished; just a VFX without a proper weapon, like the Spirit Lance. If these were their final looks, I'd be very disappointed (especially in comparison to how good the summoned staves and armory weapons look.) Citzal's Armory: Looks really good, but stats are underwhelming. I spend of my few precious 9th-level spell picks and find myself with a regular breastplate that has no special enchantment? By that time I guess I'll be bathing in legendary gear; I don't need to summon one. Dual-wielding two-handers looks cool but without full attacks, the benefit is moot compared to dual-wielding enchanted unique 1H that have powerful properties.

Could you post a shot of Firebrand? Looked the same as in the beta when I consoled it in. What about the spirit lance?

Companion sub-classes?
AndreaColombo replied to bleedthefreak's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Tekehu’s Druid subclass is actually good (and can summon Blights.) Sure, lack of Aspect of Galawain hurts but FoE-only Water spells are pretty good.
-
Devoted, Summoned Weapons, Monk Fists, and Soulbound Gear
Yes. You get the penalty with the Blights. Boeroer, weren’t the Blights using a proficiency in PoE?

Companion sub-classes?
AndreaColombo replied to bleedthefreak's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Isn’t that Wall of Ice?
-
What multiclasses have you played with so far?
It works. You can clear the Confusion with the upgraded Clarity of Agony ability, though as a multiclass you'll get that relatively late. However note that the Monk's Thunderous Blows ability won't stack with the Berserker's Frenzy, since they both bestow the same Inspiration.

Companion sub-classes?
AndreaColombo replied to bleedthefreak's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Maia's subclass is actually nice, mostly on accounts of no drawbacks. I'm not a fan of firearms, but I guess I'll give them a try when I take her in my party.
