  1. As long as we get to turn them off like in NWN2, then I don't care what they sound like.
  2. You guys are the comical ones. No one on this forum (from a business perspective) matters. We are all statistically likely to have already purchased the game. Those of us who haven't are almost 100% locks to buy it on the day it comes out. This forum is what we call a "niche" though, to suggest that the majority gamer opinion is reflected here is beyond hilarious. So when I posted what I did, I knew I would get comments like yours. Bloodbourne is the spiritual successor to a game that has been called "One of the 10 best games ever made" by most of gaming journalism. It also happens to be a mature, dark, gritty themed gothic action RPG. I shouldn't really need to explain why people might be interested in both, and why some people of limited budget and means may have to choose one or the other. I mean they literally come out two days apart. If Bloodbourne were a PC release Eternity likely would have been a footnote on the steam main page and it would have had no chance in hell of topping the sales chart on release like Divinity did. So I am not saying they shouldn't have released the game. I am saying "Man, they sure do know how to pick release schedules that happen to fall on the same week as other major RPG releases don't they?" I am also saying maybe releasing a couple weeks earlier, or a couple weeks later, would have seen no real competition of any kind on the RPG front. Divinitiy didn't run the show on steam for around 3 weeks because it was that great a game, or not a niche title. It was because nothing of any account came out that month other than Divinitiy, especially RPG wise. As a big fan of the Dark Souls series, I can tell you that a twitch based action game does not equal an RPG. I really wish people stop calling it one when it rarely has any of the RPG elements you usually in in RPGs. If the DS games are RPGs, then any action game with progression is an RPG as well. I'll be getting both Bloodbourne and PoE; however, if I was forced to get to pick one game, I would pick the game that appeals to me more (which is PoE atm), not because they're both RPGs (because one is not an RPG).
  3. A priest's health is way too low for tastes. They should at least have higher endurance than druids and chanters since Priests are more of a defensive while those classes are move offensive.
  4. Same scumming loot needs to go, but otherwise I don't have a problem with the rest. I like a mixture of normal and random loot.
  5. A rogue was never needed in the IE games. There were a variety of different ways to get around a lock or a trap. Considering how multi and duals outclassed normal classes, I don't see why this makes a difference. A thief is a thief. You still get a character that gets thief levels and has magic to enhance his thief abilities.
  6. Steam's DRM is completely optional. I can start Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin right now without opening steam. I'll be going with Steam anyway, since I'm a Linux user and Valve has been more supportive of my platform than GOG. Also, I'm a rabid Valve fanboy.
  7. Nice, so we'll be getting a crappy expansion that can be completed in a few hours plus a lame dungeon.
  8. Despite being 3D and Turn Based, I already feel that Larian's Divinity: Original Sin got more "old school" things right and is a better spiritual successor. PoE pigeon holes far too many things for my tastes and comes off as a deeply contrived but inferior form of D&D. I want to believe that many of the things I dislike about PoE are just birth-pangs, but in reality they are fundamental disagreements with design that I find to be deeply not IE. This is not to say I wanted a clone. Look no further than D:OS for an example of what was great about 1990s RPGs being brought to a modern date. Having been very involved in the beta, I cannot reiterate that opinion with PoE. I loved D:OS, especially the combat. Best combat system in a CRPG in I don't know how long, maybe ever. That said, in the 12 hours I have with the beta PoE feels very much like a successor to BG2. Combat is a weakness, for sure, but it was in the IE games too. I enjoyed them despite the combat, not because of it. Agreed. IMO, the combat was never the strong point of the IE games. Real Time with Pause just isn't a good system at all; it's just a chaotic clusterflunk that gives you less control over battles compared to turn based. That's the main reason why games like D:OS and ToEE have excellent combat. Thankfully the other elements of the IE games (exploration, music, story, etc.) made up for the lackluster combat.
  9. ctn2003 has been helpful. Just look at his posting history. And quite a few people on this forum have said the OP isn't a troll, despite you thinking he is. The one's who haven't been helpful are the ones like you Bryy who jump into threads and attack the OP. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but you want to jump on the troll bus like the other trolls. Maybe you can be helpful too? Oh too late. You just trolled the appreciation thread that ctn2003 created. Looks like you can't help yourself. And please Bryy. I already stated the facts. Stop doing a Lephys and weaselling around this. You seriously have to be the most annoying person on this forum.
  10. Agreed. They need to get rid of many these overpowered (and boring) AoE support and healing spells, and bring back the variety of spells like the clerics had in the D&D CRPGs games. You mean Cure Light Wounds, Cure Light Wound, Cure Light Wounds, Cure Moderate/Criticals Wounds, Heal and Cure Light Wounds? Um..., what? I have no idea what kind of point you're trying to make. I'm talking about the spells like domain spells, short duration self buffs, reverse healing spells, summoning spells, utility spells, etc. Don't get me wrong, the Priest does have a few interesting spells in the game (like the seal spells), but many of them could be more interesting.
  11. Agreed. They need to get rid of many these overpowered (and boring) AoE support and healing spells, and bring back the variety of spells like the clerics had in the D&D CRPGs games.
  12. Typical rebuttal from a troll who usually has no argument.
  13. Wait, since when did Islam become a person with a skin pigmentation? You do realize that Islam is a fascistic, superstition-based ideology and not a race? Political correctness really diminishes mental capacity. coming from a guy that has used the same abrasive board persona for +15 years, take this advice as serious: dump your malignacious account and try and get a fresh start. Why should he? I think it's refreshing to have someone like Malignacious on the forums. If a bunch of SJWs get pissed off because of his opinions, then so be it. It's not hard for them to use the ignore function.
  14. Speaking of Pre-rendered JRPGs from the PSX era, I can say that something about the game reminded me of Chrono Cross.
  15. I'm glad they're adding a few "weird" companions in the game, but that's no surprise looking at Obsidian's other RPGs. Sucks that we're not getting Cadegund though.
  16. Stll haven't played the beta yet (I'm still waiting for the Linux version), but i have been looking at videos. It definitely looks like an infinity engine game. As for the combat, I can't give a critique on it, but if it doesn't have BG2 retarded mages that spam contingencies and spell triggers that made the combat unbalanced and unfun, then I'll probably enjoy the combat more than BG2. Hopefully I'll enjoy the combat as much as Icewind Dale. Also, I still think the Stamina/endurance system is just a waste of time. It's just an added layer of complexity that will make the game harder to balance.
  17. And the reason that the Devil of Caroc is male is? Don't get me wrong, but you make a lot of assumptions He better be male. He sounds dashing. Spoilers
  18. ****ing this.Hard to disagree with this perspective. Also I fail to see hiw Helm qualifies as a troll. He makes salient observations and I haven't seen any personal attacks. He's allowed to have his opinion, but cheerleaders get easily confused when their biases are challenged and everyone who hurts their fanboy must be a troll? The net game is the same: ignore him because you can't handle it or offer a cogent aegument, but don't fool yourself into thinking that's Helm's problem. Then clearly haven't seen his posts around the forum. He acts like a child 50% of the time. And I have no reason get butthurt. I can't even get the game to run at the moment,
  19. Agreed. He's already on my ignore list because I got sick of his crap.
  20. I heard worse. I actually like this (temporary) voice.
  21. +1 PS:T combat was certainly good enough for a game that could be completed in a non-violent way. But trolls can't find anything substantial to criticize so they just try to nitpick. What they fail to realize is that PS:T, being widely recognized as (at the very least) one of the top contenders for #1 CRPG of all times, hardly needs to be validated by their personal approval. Yeah, the game combat it's nearly identical to the other AD&D games, so I didn't think it was worse than the other IE games. However, I'll admit the encounter design isn't as good. You don't get to fight any of the cool adventering parties like in BG1.
  22. I'm one of the people who actually enjoyed the combat in Planescape Torment (personally the combat felt the same as BG to me but the game had better spell effects), so that along with its story made it my favorite out of the IE games. hehe
