  1. This is especially encouraging.
  2. DA:O, ME1-3. Alpha Protocol, NWN2, VtM:B, KotORs, DS3 etc.,...pretty much most RPGs post Infinity Engine.
  3. Knowing Sawyer et al, these mechanics will be something that a great deal of thought will be allocated to. I'll trust his (their) judgment as professional game designers. Granted, some are better than others, but I appreciate Josh's sensibilities in this area in particular.
  4. Something all the Infinity Engine games + the Fallouts have in common was a running world clock. Time passed, morning to night. You have clear day and night times with associated activities reserved for each period. Characters are fatigued and need their sleep period. Recent games have done away with this. This has made things easier for both the player and developers alike and is more convenient for gameplay purposes. That said, I never got comfortable and in many ways, negatively affected immersion into the game world. Let's do away with this convenience shall we?
  5. Looks like part of their severance includes a non-compete clause as they aren't coming back to the industry for atleast a few years.
  6. Well, based on the kickstarter page, we already know that there will be at least 5 classes and potentially expanding to at least 7, with dwarven ranger presumably being an option.
  7. How fast do we level up? What's the level cap? Are we going low (ala BG1) or high ((DA, ME, etc.) Do we learn by action? Are XP's dished out per kill/action or only for completing quests? Thoughts? preferences? I prefer sticking with low levels and XP only for completing quests. Nice byproduct being that you don't necessarily have a body count of an overpowered psychopath - being diplomatic or sneaky won't seem like the self-gimping option.
  8. Black Isle definitely had some insane talent back in the day.
  9. How is abortion any more different than (underage) sex trade, social strife, civil (gay) rights, government corruption, religious fundamentalism, and holy war?
  10. Threat was a stupid mechanic employed in Dragon Age. It was stupid in WoW. It was stupid in SW:TOR. Let's get one guy the best armor, give him protection and healing buffs, have him shout out a challenge and all enemies converge on him. Meanwhile, the healer constantly heals him, while the rest of the party kills all the baddies as they single-mindedly target the party's so called "tank." None of that please.
  11. I never finished Arcanum but it was always so intriguing. The backgrounds were very cool.
  12. Racism as an accepted and normal part of society and with party NPC's and the characters having no real bones about it. It seems anachronistic to apply modern western society moral relavatism to what is in essence a fantasy medievalism type setting. Slavery. Same as above. Maybe some old fashioned sexism too.
  13. No romances. Shagging optional.
  14. Are you asking a question or starting a topics for discussion. If the former, we don't really know yet.
  15. Crisis averted.
  16. I'm just amazed that he was Gromnir. Oh bother.
  17. No gift spamming please. Though I seriously doubt that this is something Sawyer woul cherry pick from Bio.
  18. Good thing I studied the Prisoner's Dilemma in college.
  19. Maybe bring in Alanschu and Stanley Woo for some QA work? I kid, I kid. ...maybe?
  20. Way I see it, this is Obsiidian's baby. They can hire people, but renting Kanedans via telecommuniting doesn't seem...clean, eh?
  21. That's nothin! I'm talking Interplays old threaded "mess"age boards. Edit: Forgot to add 'son' at the end. Egads! I remember those days. My very first post there was in ALL CAPS. Still smarting from the flame. First boards I ever frequented.
  22. Along with Dwarf Tossing, I'd like to see Elven Neck-Wringing included in the game. Maybe as a mini-game if they must...
  23. They did fumble, but it's because they had no conception that the game would be funded so quickly. Look at the other high profile kickstarter campaigns: Doublefine, Wasteland, Shadowrun, and Space Annihilation. There is precedent. Plus, Obsidian has to realize that they are much bigger, better known, and with a potentially more rabid following, than all the other companies combined. They should have had this contingency planned out or forecasted.
