Snowden has been charged under the Espionage Act of 1917, which means that there is no chance he will get what is called a fair trial in the US. This is something that a lot of people don't appear to know (for more information, you can google "snowden fair trial espionage act" or something). Please note that I am not saying anything about what might happen. Just that there is no way he would be able to defend himself as people generally are when they are charged of a crime. (Some years ago I did quite a bit of work related to the Snowden case and, for instance, Glenn Greenwald's handling of it. It was both extremely interesting and hair-raising.)3 points

That's Eviee. Following that logic you also shouldn't have ever seen a point of having a Coastal Aumaua, Wood Elf or Mountain Dwarf Watcher. Sometimes it just fits. Besides that - players usually don't like to swap pets or items around a lot and there are way better pets for a ranged character than Eviee. If covering resistances is one of the goals I mean. For a backline character I don't focus on that to be honest. With this character in particular it's pretty unlikely that you get hit by terrify often. And frighten or shaken isn't much of a problem since modal effects + autoattacks still work just fine when frightened. Also a Troubadour could easily remove all afflictions just by running the appropriate resistance chant with Brisk Recitation. So maybe Wild Orlan wouldn't be my first pick in this case. For a melee guy it would be higher up my list though. I'd prefer mountain dwarf or ocean folk for this arbalest char I think. Just because of the vibes. Racial abilities don't matter much here.2 points

Playing Elex 2 (surprise, surprise): Having lots of fun with this game, but it's nearing the end now. I am completely overpowered after 87 fun hours exploring the world. Then I tried out alchemy and accidentally maxxed out every skill in the skill tree.. I had so much **** collected that I basically had endless potion making ingredients.2 points

It's not so simple. This version is meant to combo with Full Attacks. You get 2 attacks instead of 1, so 2x10-14 = 24 damages on average for daggers, vs 23 damages for Arquebus (and Arquebus is the most extreme case). Of course, Full Attacks get a malus with Dual Wield. -35% damages negates 58% of damages bonus. The point is that this version of Backstab and Rogue in general get so many damages bonus that the damages loss isn't that big. What IS optimal with this version of Backstab would be DW Normal speed weapons. But that's pretty much the case with cost efficiency of most rogue special attacks anyway. Fast weapons are faster, which has other perks from cost efficiency per ability : Skald Multiclassing, Confounding Strike hits, specific unique properties, etc... In a nutshell, the gap is much smaller than with base game Backstab, although not as perfectly equal as CP Backstab (but solves othe issue such as giving backstab a proper niche). EDIT : But Redhand is indeed the exception since you can shot twice in 1s. I haven't thought about that. But that's only 1 weapon, and it makes sense that some uniques get some unique combos ^^2 points

What would you think about following design (principles and numbers) for Backstab : +100% damages +100% damages against targets ABOVE 50% health (in addition to previous one) Applies when Invisible/Stealthed or fixed 1s after against target <2m The idea is to have Backstab COMBINE with Strikes instead of competing, and to be used as an alpha strike against a fresh target, useful when you switch targets with SHadowing Beyond or Smoke Veil. (Assassin passive would also applies when Invisible/Stealthed or fixed 1s after)2 points

I had idea for an aesthetic update to combat. When you have a 1-handed weapon and a shield equipped and in combat with a much larger enemy, occasionally have the character bash their shield with their weapon, and shout something intimidating like "Bring it on!" or "I'm not scared of you!", maybe even custom comments based on which weapon type. It adds a little flourish to the game and I thought it would be a fun addition. And a fun edition.1 point

Watched two more episodes of The Vision of Escaflowne. After getting used to what this is - and as that was in the same package of recommendations as Lady Asuka (or for those that didn't follow all the other threads, that's Rose of Versailles), I should have expected it to be anything but what it was recommended for - it's actually... more on that later! The anime follows Hitomi, the girl in the middle of the image here on an adventure she gets acidentially swept up in after a vision helps her save a strange boy from a dragon's attack. Said boy is Van, prince of some kingdom or another, and before you get the idea that Van is the princely looking blonde guy on the picture, nah, that's Allen. I used to be a prince and was even crowned king for a bit, but this is a fantasy anime, and as such now I'm just a nobody. Van is your average shounen character. Brash, always on the attack, wants to die for honor and glory and reacts to having his life saved by Hitomi in the only way a shounen character can, by telling her that he doesn't need help - and for sure not from girls. I said that before, but Hitomi just slaps him for the comment, which he so readily deserved. Hi, I was just trying to run 100m in under 13 seconds, and suddenly everything is weird! Hitomi is a nice school girl with an interest in track and field, specifically the 100m sprint. She also likes fortune telling and has her own tarot deck and a pendulum - or better put, an heirloom pendant that can double as pendulum. She does that for fun, knowing it's a tad silly, but she realizes pretty quickly that she's got more than a knack for the arts, particularily after she's whisked away and the world where she ends up enhances her abilities to actually having visions of the future. Now, the first episode, sans the appearance of the dragon that ends up being slain by our shounen dolt up, isn't much more than three quarters slice of life and one quarter fantasy action. That changes pretty quickly after Hitomi accidentially accompanies the dolt back to Gaia, a planet apparently close to Earth as both the Earth and the moon are visible in the night sky, and frighteningly close. Well, it's fantasy, don't expect gravity to work as it should. After returning home by being escorted by a group of wolf-men, having slain the dragon, the dolt is quickly hailed as the whatever it is they hail him as, beause it really doesn't matter. He's crowned King of Fanelia, and we're treated to the first really strange deviation from regular fantasy tropes in the anime, the kingdom is attacked by stealthed mechs. King Dolt runs to his own mech while his Samurai Guard is slaughtered in theirs, which is revealed to be Escaflowne and powered by some crystal thing he took from the dragon, but all he can do is watch how Fanelia is burned to the ground. Hitomi does something with her penadant and they're again whisked away... Mechs aside, there's also a slight break with the usual high fantasy population. No dwarves or elves so far, but cat girls, wolf men, mole men (no really, there's a guy they call mole and he's digging tunnels alls day long) and lots of weird technology. It takes the occasional dip into having a JRPG story because the enemies that burned down Fanelia have a... a... well, a flying fortress, pretty much a JRPG staple. There's always and airship or a flying fortress. In fact, The Vision of Escaflowne has both. I wonder if they're looking for the mana tree here? I'm an airship! Luckily I'm not piloted by Oswald Fiddlebender, because that wouldn't go so well... To round out the flying, some of the mechs can fly, and Escaflowne has a dragon mode where it turnes into a mecha-dragon that can be ridden by King Dolt the Shounen. Now, to document the sad decline of anime in the 2000s, look at the screencaps above and know this was animated by Studio Sunrise, who later went on to make this pearl of animation in 2013: Today I ran into some incredibly big boobs! -- Tamako Guys, for the love of god, do not just search for images entering Love Live! Nozomi boob rub gif. I mean, yeah, there's the boob rub from the Love Live! anime, but that's not the only thing you'll find. A whole lot of: Well, and worse. Have this here gif from Love Live! just in case you missed my posts about it: Dancing, dancing, non-stop me dancing! Yes, actual lyrics. So, where was I. Finish an already a little structureless post about a whole lot of nothing, the bad guys are commanded by a mysterious figure who said they're trying to restore Atlantis. Since the planet they're on is called Gaia (or Gaea, which is the same thing, anyway), I'd say they all came from Earth at some point, or are some reflection from Earth, or something. The four episodes have breakneck pacing, some mech action that's pretty bloody - people get speared to death, burned to death, hacked to death and there's some fun blood splatter going on, but it's not full Blood-C level. It's pretty violent. The shounend dolt is pretty shouneny, and the other main character that was introduced aside from the villains who are either mysterious, traitors or guano-insane is Allen, a chivalrious knight, and someone Hitomi pretty quickly develops a crush on. There's also a cat girl. To sum up, we have a nice girl lead character who does fortune telling, a shounen male lead who is shouneny, a knight in shining armor (well, shining mech), breakneck pacing, JRPG elements all over the place, a high fantasy setting with lots of out of place looking technology and pretty much no time to breathe for anything, which makes my conclusion at the time being all the more strange, I guess. Because, really, when watching this, what I should be doing is this: Or, maybe this: In reality, while watching this anime, I'm looking more like this: Yeah, no, I'm serious. I think I actually like this, and I have no idea why. With Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, at least, I knew why. That was just great entertainment and more of a special ops / superhero squad fighting of a villain with decent quality world building, great pacing and quite decent writing (I'd say more than decent, but some problems crop up at the end). With this? I have no idea. I should be groaning and facepalming throughout each episode, but I don't do that. Not when King Dolt does something stupid, not even when the Cat Girl (well, her name is Merle) is on screen and jealous of how much King Dolt likes Hitomi, as if she'd be interested in that dweeb. To his credit, Chivalrous Knight in Shining Mech explains to King Dolt that honor and bravery are all nice and fine, but surviving to fight another day beats pointless last stands, and dishonor can be carried with dignity if it means saving your people. I guess he's not a complete moron. I'm kinda hoping that'll change and the show will do something inexcusably dumb soon so the world rights itself.1 point

a couple decades past we had a friend who made surfboards. his business didn't last long, but his biz name were rabid dolphin inc. kinda a kewl logo and we may even still have a t-shirt with the image. as such, am gonna suggest "rabid __________." colorado specific? bison? beaver? elk? don't much matter, but am thinking you could come up with a groovy logo and we need a new t-shirt and/or hoodie. HA! Good Fun! ps am knowing shady is more into vampires and gothic, so am s'posing he could for zombie beaver instead o' rabid. would make for an equal interesting t-shirt or coffee mug logo. for us is all 'bout the logo. and yes, am fully aware our advice is not helpful.1 point

Wife's boss got caught in a lie about her promotion so she's looking to leave for another team or possibly even find something else with a new company. I'm struggling to come up with a name for a new business I'm starting. I also turned down another job offer because they couldn't offer me at least 2 days of working from home and my current job said I could WFH full time and they also offered me a little more lunch money.1 point

If you turn on upscaling, you'll rarely overlevel any encounters and the difficulty becomes more evenly distributed. If you've already beaten the game, using Berath's Blessing will make the start of the next one significantly easier. You can also export a level 1 character equipped with a late-game item from your old game and import them into the new one, allowing you to use it for the entire playthrough.1 point

Agreed. I can set the reload to 9s, which would preserve Red Hand unique spike damage ability. That's 30% more Attack + reload cycle. Getting a second shot for arquebus is not so easy. 15% of 6.8s reload is still 1.02s. 15% of 4s "normal weapon" Recovery is 0.6s. Add 0.7s for the attack itself and you're above 1s window. It is probably very hard to get a second attack from normal weapon and close from impossible from non red-hand arquebus (recovey speed bonus stacks in inverse fashion, so they won't help much - one need extreme attack speed bonus at the beginning of combat, that's achievable and not "broken" ; anyway it works once per combat). Fast 1h weapons have base 15% of 3s + 0.5s attack = 0.95s for the whole cycle. The can probably benefit from Backtstab windows from stealth even without full attack. I would say that's good. That leaves the problem of : - BPM Crushing Blow (instant recovery). But I would say that's a "good combo" (that costs 2+ Rages) - Red Hand indeed, but since the weapon as a whole will eat a significant nerf, I think enabling this combo wouldn't be too bad.1 point

IMO an elegant way to nerf the Red Hand would be to increase its reload time (which would also make a lot of sense). But it doesn't really solve the issue pointed by @NotDumbEnough regarding backstab. Although... with any Arquebus I guess you could squeeze a second shot at combat opening (with the -85% recovery from stealth bonus) and get backstab twice. In which case the problem isn't really about the Red Hand alone. I like the idea! But agree with concerns above about Arquebus or even e.g. Amra from stealth.1 point

Akira Takarada was possibly the last speaking-line cast members from Gojira (1954) still alive. One of the suitmation actors, Katsumi Tezuka (who was the assistant to primary suit actor Haruo Nakajima) is still alive at 109 and Mr. Tezuka had a brief on-screen role as a reporter but I believe it was a non-speaking role. I think there are some speaking role actors who aren't accounted for, hence the uncertainty. Anyhow, Mr. Takarada would return time-and-time again to Toho's giant monster films franchise, appearing in Mothra vs Godzilla, Invasion of the Astro-Monster, Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, King Kong Escapes, Latitude Zero, Godzlla vs Mothra (1992), and Godzilla Final Wars. His cameo in the recent US made Godzilla (2014) sadly got left on the cutting room floor, something director Gareth Edwards discussed being a tough decision to make, but made for pacing reasons. Mr. Takarada was also a prolific voice-over artist, dubbing a number of films for the Japanese market over the years (ranging from Doctor Doolittle in the 1967 film, the 60s spy-comedy Matt Helm films, Disney's Aladdin, Star Wars Rebels and Cats) and certainly had a number of credits in non-Godzilla related films and television shows. He was a guest at a few US Godzilla conventions where he was from what I hear an enthusiastic guest who embraced his years of genre work. From 1966 to 1984 he was married to Japanese model and former Miss Universe (1959) Akiko Kojima, and they had one child, singer-actress Michiru Kojima.1 point

Yeah, so that wasn't how I expected that post to end. I was gearing up to write my monthly "why the hell do you keep trying to watch shows that you should obviously leave to someone else that doesn't have your particular OCD, good lord - don't you have enough endless trash on your plate?". Please tell me that this "Merle" doesn't pronounce her name as "Earl" with an M. Also, please tell me that the show looks a lot better on the streaming service (Amazon?) you're watching it on than those screenshots you presumably pulled from Google, because I've seen screenshots of the BDs previously, and I know they looked a lot nicer than that. This was not the one I was going to link because it's obviously not a key frame, but the visual combined with the subtitle was hilarious and it got the point across.0 points
