I'd be happy if they just remake Fate of Atlantis in modern engine3 points

Well, you got that wrong, Jordan Peterson is the guy who DESTROYS leftists by telling them crustaceans have a strict hierarchy and then proceeding to unironically talk about post-modern neo-marxism, which most likely sounds highly intellectual to his fanbase, but is completely meaningless. Postmodernism's defining feature is the rejection of metanarratives like Marxism as fundamentally flawed. His fabled debating skills, by far and large, boil down to raising strawmen arguments combined with a factually true statement in an attempt to goad the other party into looking stupid or giving him an opening where he can claim that they are misrepresenting what he said without ever really specifying what it is exactly he said. Which is pretty much what he did in his BBC interview, for instance, where he's argued that "the" Left has this idea that all our societal hierarchies are the result of Western patriarchy, but lobsters also have hierarchies and they predate Western civilization. The strawman here being that "the left" of course never argued against all hierarchies arising from the oppressive patriachy. It is, however, fairly problematic to respond to, you can either argue against a fundamentally correct statement ("lobsters have hierarchies"), which will make you look silly, or you can follow his implication and debate that, to which he can just reply that this is a misinterpretation of what he said. Which is pretty much what happened, as the interviewer's response was asking him whether he believes we should organize our society along the lines of lobsters. No, of course not. Silly interviewer. The reactionary core of his implication still stands, of course, and his fanbase gobbles it up like candy. Like him or not, he certainly knows what he is doing, which is pandering to his audience, not engaging in meaningful, intellectual debates.3 points

I am still somewhat disappointed, that main focus seems to be on combat. It seems like it is going to be a much more action centric experience. Combat doesn't look bad, but I am also doubtful how much depth it will have. RPG nature of the game still seems to be mostly sidelined, at least as far as talking point go. One branching quest is shown, but it didn't fire up my imagination. The logo looks cool, though.2 points

If YT gives you any trouble with your ad blocker, you can just install Ad SpeedUp. It works without a hitch and has (probably?) the advantage that the creators still get a cut of the ad revenue. Not sure, but I guess the companies running the ads through YouTube might be a tad unhappy about it.1 point

Thanks Gallad I kept the word "s'améliorent" for the scalling like this sentence :""Les capacités passives des objets s'améliorent en fonction du niveau" As for just "Item scaling" I used "Ajustement d'objets" as the main game use this word for the difficulty scaling as well. Here are the other files from the main BPM, translated into French Thanks if any one can check those. As you can see itemmods is the only file I did not translate. I just don't understand what it is refering to, can't really find the proper words for it. Can someone who knows do it please ? It is very short. I'm now doing the translation of the nerf, summon rebalance, and potion cyclopedia.stringtable gui.stringtable itemmods.stringtable items.stringtable statuseffects.stringtable1 point

yeah gibbing is weird (annihilates the corpse, which might affect the game's ability to rez them later). Normally party members can't get gibbed, but if you do get annihilated otherwise (disintegrate from enemy cipher) they disappear from your party and you can't res them. i wonder if ship boarding assists--because they're not in your party--can get gibbed (regardless of being a crew or companion) and that can (unintentionally?) cause permadeath.1 point

I think if done well, visually simple conversations can work. For example, Outer Words I thought worked really, really well. There were some neat stalistic choices there, that leaned into the artifice of the conversation system, and made it work, IMO. What was showed in Avowed, however, looked rather plain and unappealing. What you describe would take a lot of production - mocap, syncing animations with the enviroment etc. Would definitely be welcome, but I definitely see it as luxury, rather than expectation or necessity.1 point

Thanks ! Here are the text files to check for people willing to do it. Point of interest: - I tried to stay close to the vanilla french translation - There were many capital letters not present in the french translation (like Raw Damage in english never have the capital letters in french "dégâts bruts") I did not use the capital letters for those, as I did not want to do something too different from the rest of the french content. I hope I did not put to many unwanted capital letters, or forgot some others that have to be there. There were inconstencies, as sometimes some word that usually never have capital letters have them in french for some reason. I kept the vanilla french translation. Those files are for the Community Patch Mod: Basic content Thanks for anyone who can help checking. abilities.stringtable gui.stringtable statuseffects.stringtable1 point

In addition to Sarex points, head bob and weapon sway are two more that will get me. Basically whenever Im looking at my own two arms then Im too close in. Even slightly over the shoulder view is ok, but looking out of my "own eyes" is . Goes all the way back to Doom/Duke Nukem/RoTT/Heretic/Hexen. Hell, even watching my own kid play Overwatch would give me a headache after about 15 minutes.1 point

I have completed the french translation of the Community Patch Mod. I only had a problem with one sentence, I could not find its equivalent in the vanilla files. Maybe it's new, but I did not translate it yet just in case it alwready exists, I want to keep the same wording, it's the following one: <ID>20154</ID> <DefaultText>When free to focus, the cipher's mind sharpens, allowing them to tap into hidden power and generate Focus passively. However, if the cipher is being critically hit, this effect is briefly disabled.</DefaultText> I can provide my files so that someone else just check if everyting is correct.1 point

am realizing some hyperbole is being indulged in your response. after all, and is indeed ironic, most maga folks believe trump is their last best hope for a champion who will fight for them against tyranny, and the laundry list o' hobgoblins trump convinced them they is needing to fear-- illegal immigrants, globalists, mail-in voting, windmills, etc. sure, they believe trump needs to be strong to take on the deep state and the corrupt system, so they is ok with trump breaking norms, but maga unironic sees itself and trump as the last gasp hope for american democracy. is kinda a shame that many o' the trump voters disappeared from this board following the election and insurrection, 'cause am certain they would pushback on your simple (and slight tongue-in-cheek) dichotomy. that said, imagine same absolute immunity statement by trump in 2015, during his first campaign, and even during the first couple years o' his Presidency. of course maga folks woulda' made excuses for trump's embrace o' dictatorship, or they woulda' suggested he were joking, but the reaction from maga folks to the above tweet would not have been same even in 2018... and libs also woulda' been vocal outraged by such a statement in 2018. today? a collective sigh from the left and a hearty cheer from the faithful. Gromnir couldn't figure out why so many libs shrugged off the trump muslim ban promise in 2015, and has been a whole lotta shrug moments since then. it took hundreds o' thousands o' unnecessary US covid deaths, and trump's arguable criminal mishandling o' the pandemic to convince democrats and left-leaning independents to vote for an uninspiring biden -harris ticket in 2020. does @Bartimaeusfeel confident that the above tweet, and so many others similar signs that trump is looking to shatter whatever illusions people got left that US republican democracy will prevent 45 from doing the previous unthinkable, and convince enough people to vote against him in 2024? how many will just shrug? am genuine baffled by how easy post ww2 US norms has been subverted since 2015. a c-list tv huckster selling fear and grievance to working class whites evoked shrugs and maybe even mild laughter from libs in 2015. how many collective shrugs led to this point, 'cause recall that while trump beat clinton, the 2016 election saw extreme low voter turnout and exit polls showed that many who voted for trump did so not 'cause they liked him but 'cause clinton were such a terrible alternative. the don't blame me, i voted for kodos joke were funny in 2015? the truth is most libs didn't bother to vote for kodos, so kang didn't need many votes to win. pretend it didn't really matter if clinton or trump were possible 'cause people shrugged at muslim ban, pu$$y grab, attacks on gold star families, etc. the old quote attributed to ben franklin feels more apt today than at anytime since the civil war. the thing is, americans were a smidge more engaged in 1787 and 1861... recognizing how only the opinions o' white and male americans mattered at the time. HA! Good Fun!1 point

@dkohalloran You should really just try it on PC. Xbox with a Pad is not a console suitable for playing 2D isometric RPGs with complex mechanics and multiple characters in your party.1 point

I just checked if I even have a single game by an Ubisoft studio, and the answer is no, I do not. I do have a couple of games published by Ubisoft, but even those are old. Like The Settlers and Heroes of Might and Magic old.1 point

Ok thanks I'll see about that tomorrow. I just have the keyword left for the Community Patch, it's almost done. The Typo file does not concern other languages other than the english one ? I don't need to make any translation ? (there are none for the other languages, I checked). Probably starting the BPM tomorrow, hope I can be done with it by the week-end.1 point

Super ! No it's the same as for CP. About other stuff for next version : Winter Wind 3s/4s cast time -> 3s/3s (not super strong ability, but faster recovery will help) Boiling Spray : 2m push -> 5m push (not super strong either, let it be good at what it does) Blast of Frost 3s/4s cast time -> 3s/3s (Tier 5 that has similar stats as a fireball, at least I gave it same cast time) Malignant Cloud : 10s duration -> 15s (felt a bit meh compared to some other AoE) Whisper of the Wind : 5 wounds (vanilla) -> 9 wounds (current BPM) -> 7 wounds (I might have gone a bit far for this one, even if was so good that it made obsolete a lots of Monk abilities) Rejoice, Comrades (and upgrade) : I thought both ray got separate resolve, but no, most targets, even super close, can be hit only by 1 ray due to the way it is implemented (unless it bounces). Also the caster isn't affected, which is especially bad for an immunity that one would like party wide. So I buffed it accross the board. Healing 30 -> 40 Immunity to Resolve Affliction : 20s -> 30s Healing and Immunity affect the caster. Upgrade get Fire keyword (the attack had it anyway, but not the ability). Fire chanter is a thing now. Upgrade damages : 24 fire -> 32 Upgrade damages vs spirit and vessels : 35 -> 48 Note : I tend to be quite generous with Invocation since Summons and a few others Invocations are already quite powerful, making many others obsolete.1 point

Hello, I think I have nearly finished the Community Patch translation in French (Basic + Extra + keyword ) It should be finished tomorrow I believe. But I will need some help on some parts that I'm not sure to understand (I will ask on the dedicated topic, might be better). And of course someone to check I haven't really looked into the BPM yet, do I need some special instructions to translate it ? Zahuaaisready, do we divide the work between the two of us ? (if the work is important).1 point

It's sad how many games, even now in 2024, still have cutscene conversations with characters just standing in place. The hand gestures help a bit, but it's a far cry from watching characters naturally walking next to a wall and leaning against it while talking to you, or starting seated then standing up and pacing around. Maybe they walk over to a desk and pick up a book. I guess we can still only count on CDPR and Rockstar for proper blocking and business. Oh well. On the positive side, guns akimbo. Also, I like how vibrant the environments are. Overall, I'm still on the fence about this game, but I'm mildly more positive about it than after the last trailer.1 point

is it possible a post from the star trek mirror universe slipped over to this side? then again, this don't seem out of character for 2023 trump, many o' his maga adherents, and a few obsidian board posters. near as bad, many people will read and just shrug off the fact that the former US President, likely gop nominee for the Presidency and possible future President just suggested he should be able to do crimes while in office with no possible future repercussions. trump also has a curious notion 'bout cop legal responsibility. gerald ford took considerable heat for pardoning nixon. sucker. as an aside, the original post from trump were time stamped at 2:00 am. HA! Good Fun!1 point

No, you have to spend 100 hours in the ship builder, because next to it even vi seems easy to use. And, just so you know in case you have never used vi, well... that takes some doing. Does that answer your question?1 point

So in addition to the boring ass randomly generated planets this game also has MMO quests? Lmao that's bad.1 point
