In my understanding they have two full patriot systems one from USA and one from Germany. Which both have control station, radar system, communication system, mobile energy plant and several 4/8/12/16 missile launchers that together form an artillery battery unit. Although media coverage about Ukraine's Patriots probably causes confusion as they are calling both artillery battery unit and single patriot launcher as patriot batteries in their reporting and it is often difficult to tell which they are referring to. That video that show air defense in Kyiv there were over 30 missiles/rockets launched by air defense from multiple locations and they seemed to be multiple different types based on how big light circle around them is and how fast they move. It is unlikely that they were all launched by patriot system, because launched happen in two short bursts which had only six minutes between them. I think it is unlikely that Ukraine has currently capacity to shoot over 30 patriot missiles in 7 minutes, because that would need quite lot launchers and both Germany and USA have usually gifted only couple systems at time when they send something to Ukraine. I also don't think that Germany or USA supplied Ukraine multiple different type patriot missiles for those few launchers they gave them. So I think most of the missiles seen on the video are probably from Ukraine's S300 or Bulk systems or from NASAMS systems that Norway gifted to Ukraine last year or from Crotale systems that France gifted Ukraine2 points

It's very well done but I don't know if it will set off one of the many Bartimaeus Hate Thresholds and cause you to despise it and curse me with 10000 years of agony. Damning with faint praise. I mean it can't be worse than live action Pinocchio. I haven't seen the whole thing, but I've seen the scene where an orangutan sings "Be Like You" and all I could think about was how neither the big monkey or the kid seemed to move during the whole thing. Did not look particularly good and really unfavorably compares to the original. EDIT: Found em on YouTube, hopefully the mouse won't carpet bomb my apartment because of copyright. Ben Affleck has developed resting War Crime Survivor face recently. I'm not sure if something really bad happened with him or if in his (relatively) old age he doesn't give a **** anymore.2 points

I'm still entirely on CDs for my music, since I stopped being interested in any new music by the late-90s. I have around 270 CDs in my collection.2 points

I don't know how other people view this thread, but most of the music people post in here I can only (valiantly) persevere 5-10 seconds through before closing out. I could start marking everybody's posted with "Confused" reactions if you like, as that's about all that would seem appropriate.2 points

Newer/current Firefox: I noticed when you play media pages (like YouTube), there is now this extra text line of "AutoplayBlocked" or "Playing" etc that appears/disappears below the tab title, making the tab headers bounce up and down in height. Visually annoying. So I had to go back into that AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\#####.default-release\chrome folder that I created (to get rid of the bookmark menu spacing) and add the below script bit to the userChrome.css file https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/firefox-csshacks/blob/master/chrome/inline_tab_audio_icons.css Seems to work perfectly. Petty annoyance averted, thanks internet.2 points

Thankfully no CCTV around there Finally done with my car, managed to fab up some 30mm spacers for the rear springs to raise the back end a little since it used to look like it was leaning backwards a bit all the time. Now it's definetly leaning forwards instead. Like, alot I can actually feel it when sitting in it. Granted, I didn't want to make it 30mm spacers, I wanted 20, but the only scrap metal I could get hold of was 15mm thick so I had to make do!1 point

The +1 PL from the conjurer familiar stacks with those. Could be very easy way to get +3 PL for every single fight (not even having to use stone of power stacking cheese). edit: downside to conjurer is missing out on a bunch of defensive wizard spells though (no illusion magic), though you do get arcane veil. but deleterious alacrity of motion is probably the best defensive spell, if you don't mind some micromanagement, and you still get that. edit 2: yeah sage is probably better at fist punching specifically, but don't sleep on monastic unarmed training plus other skills. i did a pretty sloppily put together fighter/priest one (tactical barrage for acute, nature godlike, stone of power, and then priest of wael of tons of defensive spells and light synergies like champion's boon + mob stance) and it was still extremely effective at punch punch punching but also had pretty decent other capabilities.1 point

This worked perfectly, thanks so much! Apotheosis is quite handy, relatively simple to understand, love it One last thing I tried to change an abilities inspiration keyword from insightful to smart (Valorous Echoes). I've managed to make the game recognize the keyword as smart. I changed the keyword to Inspiration_Intellect, and under StatusEffectsValue i changed it to INS_Smart_SE_Intellect, and a lastly i changed under AfflictionComponent the icon to gui/icons/keywords/int_pos_1.png and AffictionType to INS_Intelligence. This made the game recognize that it as smart inspiration, giving a bonus of 5 int, but I can't seem to change the display name to smart from insightful. This makes it confusing, as it displays it as a perception bonus, while it gives the intellect inspiration. Is there any way to change the display name? And have i gone the right way about changing it from insightful to smart? All changes was made under status effect category. Thanks in advanced1 point

Oh but they do! I'm listening to Wagner's Tristan und Isolde on CD as I type, and every once in a while I even receive one as a gift. But yeah, it's rare. I think it's extremely sad that the whole music industry is essentially destroyed. Music is no longer a way to make a decent living unless you happen to be that one guy in Sweden who happens to make an indecent living via Spotify. It's a huge, huge loss for artistic endeavour.1 point

Timberborn I've played, and completed (minus DLC) Terminator Resistance. Decent little shooter, makes you actually fear the Terminators, even though they're dumb as bricks. It's not a game with a massive budget so don't expect too much depth. Most annoying things were a few pretty obvious spelling mistakes and a single CTD (on a bossfight...). Worth it on a sale, solid 6/10, maybe a 7/10 if you're really into Terminator. Started playing Airborne Kingdom after that. City builder where your city floats. Difficulty seems to ramp up slowly (so far) as you basically scavenge resources from the ground below, but you're burning through them increasingly quickly as your population grows, which may lead to some interesting logistical challenges down the line.1 point

Since you are planning with a pike anyways check out the Lance of the Midwood Stag. You can get +2 universal Power Level from that one enchantment. I don't remember if that buff stays if you switch from that pike to fists. If it does then that's +2 stackable PL for your fists which would be nice. Then think about farming 2 Stones of Power (necklace). It can be used once per encounter for +1 universal PL for the whole fight. If you stack the depleted one with the full one in the stash both will be full again, turning it from a per/rest item into a per/encounter item. Also that PL bonus stacks with everything. Then maybe read the following article from @thelee about the scaling of Monastic Unarmed Training so you can make a well informed decision when it comes to stacking PLs (if it's necessary to take Tactical Barrage or not and so on): https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/227477-pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire/faqs/76599/monastic-unarmed-training Essentially what you want is +3 PL at all times to take the fists to an additional scaling which makes them very good. +3 with a Fighter is rel. easy: Tactical Barrage (+1PL), Nature Godlike (+1PL) and Stone of Power (+1PL). Of you could reliably stack another +3 PL (see Lance otMS above and then some other source of PL) the fists would become really, really good compared to most other weapons. But the first +3 PLs are pretty easy to come by. Could also think about a Death Godlike and go near death for a huge boost of PL, but I think that's not reliable at all. Another source of PL could be the Conjurer's familiar summon (the bonuses of the familiar stay even if the familiar is gone for whatever reason). Not 100% sure if it stacks with Tactical Barrage/Acute though. So Conjurer instead of Blood Mage I mean. The +1 PL of the Blood Make is for wizard abilities only unfortunately.1 point

Yeah you're correct on all regards, was just testing it after getting annoyed at the lack of pet scripting on the Seer as I said on my previous post. Lance is incredibly strong and makes the build go from fairly versatile to an almost silly powerhouse, it's particularly funny to hit a crit on a paralyzed foe (mental binding) and watch it get chopped into gibs with everything around it. I also used Ectopsychic Echo for the first time and consider it a fairly strong spell if you aren't playing solo, kinda miffed I don't see it mentioned more since it's crush damage every second if I'm not mistaken. Imagine for a moment you could put it on Maia Rua's hawk and just roleplay as a bomber going behind enemy lines/or if you had the bird as a pet to begin with as a player. Not sure if it can work with the phantoms you can summon as wizard but it'll be a quick respec just to try it out. Thank you again for all the very useful information you have given me, I have enjoyed this game much more this time around and I'm actually eager to play more of it or similar games after being able to metagame a bit with people here.1 point

It might be easier just to download one of the mods that raises the level cap, as does this one. That way MC characters can use PL 8 abilities once they reach lvl 22, which actually isn't that too far along in the game. You can make it to about level 29 solo if you do all of the quests, bounties, etc. In a party, you can make it to about lvl 27 turn if you turn in quests with your party dismissed.1 point

Why though? Caramella Girls works wonders for quieting my mind, being incredibly simplistic but really catchy. Plus there's the trolling issue. Whenever I post something serious here I get zero comments or reactions, posting silly music at least gets a complaint or two. Not really possible to tell anything for certain from that video- but if it was Patriots it seems extremely unlikely it was a single launcher due to the volume of shots. I think I'd be more worried about how the Russians were able to target it on the fly more than any actual damage, since that suggests it's repeatable. Not really possible to say. A kinzhal doesn't fly hypersonically for its full flight path and there are multiple missiles of similar size but slower top speed. Assuming they aren't out and out lying then they'd know they brought down something- but, well, to put it another way: German pilots always shot down Spitfires, never Hurricanes; Russians hit HiMARS and Patriots, not Grads and IRIS-T. Even debris isn't exactly foolproof. That 'warhead' from a couple of days ago was hollow even in early pictures and bears an uncanny resemblance to a (decommissioned) BETAB-500 dumb bomb. Which weighs the right amount for a Kinzhal warhead, but is over 2m long and decidedly not hollow. And designed for subsonic penetration, not hypersonic with 25x the KE minimum. Indeed, a couple of days ago where the motor engine is on that tweet MW linked is where the warhead was (and if it were the warhead then that is where it would have to be). Perhaps more 'objectively' the Russians/ Syrians did a very similar thing after US/ Brit/ French airstrikes and the claim then was that no missiles were shot down and the debris was from missiles that hit. If I were the Russians I'd be jury rigging old (ish, don't think the 75km models would cut it) S-300 missiles to MiG-31s and firing them off every night since they're same size and ~same speed but essentially 'free' since they're so old- and there are a lot of them. Certainly a lot cheaper than the interceptors that would be fired at them, and the production rate for Patriots is not that high.1 point

Speaking of Miscreant's Leather Changeling's Mantle (doesn't touch Rekke, lil' offtopic): with a confused Berserker/Troubadour or Beckoner you can make great use of the Primal Carnage enchantment. Confused Carnage hits against your summoned wyrms will give you more action speed (up to +15%) in any fight. Not gamebreaking or anything but maybe cool for a themed build or something.1 point

I started on Showgunners. It does very well with the Running Man game show theme. Even the tutorial works, as it is commented on by the TV Show host. The game promises to be relatively short (the devs estimate 15-20 hours, and I expect it to be closer to 15 than 20). It is fun turn based tactics and a lot of the devs have worked on Phantom Doctrine (not fun turn based tactics) and Hard West (better than Phantom Doctrine turn based tactics gameplay (but that isn't especially hard, unless you compare it to the Narcos turn based tactics game)). Things that could turn people off? That one thing you hated about Firaxis XCOM. No, not Central Bradford, the other thing. Timers.1 point

Yeah you told me about leap cancelling but iirc you seemed to be against it as too cheesy. But I just use bounding boots for that I see little reason to take the ability. Charge can be pretty useful since brutes don't have much CC. But to each his own, take leap if you like it. There are a lot of abilities I want to take in this build so some things have to be sacrificed. Accurate carnage may not be as impactful at high levels as low in every fight, but it's PL3 and what else are you going to take that I didn't already? Besides Rekke would have carnage accuracy 107 with the gear I'm wearing plus aware. And without gauntlets of accuracy it's 104. Without accurate carnage it would be 99 and that's with fighting spirit and conqueror stance. In testing "Trial by Fangs and Fur" which this build can easily solo BTW, 99 accuracy has negative adjustment against every enemy. I think it's definitely worth taking because weapon accuracy isn't applied to carnage and carnage has to at least graze to trigger, plus you want to apply effects from blood frenzy or spirit frenzy. Agree magneras chain is nice, I recommended that for my hierophant build. I usually get it quite a lot later than reckless brigandine or DOC BP though. Bloody Links are nice if you build around staying bloody, like paired with akolas Apex ward or used with a streetfighter. I like the +2 armor enchant. I like the reckless brigandine not just for the speed enchant but mostly the Into The Breach upgrade, which gives bonus armor and damage when hurt. It is usually enough armor to take you into underpenetration territory. More armor than anything else actually. But I recommended using Stalker's Patience, and spear modal gives +1 engagement for an easy tradeoff of 15% stride. So even with just thick skinned you have 4 engagement which gives -15% attack time and recovery speed. Blackened Plate Helm is a solid helm for another engagement if you want but I think 4 is enough. Nomads brigandine is synergistic with some builds but I rarely use it due to high recovery and less armor compared to reckless brigandine. Helm of the falcon is solid choice for 2 handed weapon. And yes it looks better than pretty much every other helm. Speaking of looks I really like The Changeling's Mantle as armor for a barbarian, though it is a very late acquisition. Same recovery time as Miscreant's Leather.1 point

Hubby and I played some Borderlands 3. He has a somewhat better PC to run the game smoother on now, so he's recently been mucking about in it again and wanted to play. I haven't played in ages so I was finally willing, haha. We did some side quests (never did all) and other grind to reach max lvl 72. I still find the game mediocre and not very engaging long-term/end game, vs. the first two BL games, but ofc playing with hubby makes it better, so still a fun weekend. It did make me wonder yet again if Borderlands 4 will even be worth buying. Or, even if it ends up pretty good, I'm sure Gearbox will want $250 for the entire full "contents package" spread out over a year. Or maybe they'll finally go the Borderlands semi-MMO route...1 point

For paladin/troubadour I would go goldpact knight for the "blessing of gold" they get from sworn enemy and sworn rival / brand enemy. This give them +4 armor for a decent number of hits, four or five, and it is a cheap cast. Will help you with tanking early since the other big paladin armor thing is stoic steel which you dont' get until L19. This is a solid choice for a tank though, and can also do summoning, support, and some CC as needed. Bloodmage / soulblade eventually plays like an offtank, but during early levels will be more of a second row striker with a staff or pike, or can be used as backrow caster. What really brings the build together is L13 when you get borrowed instinct, llengrath's safeguard, and citzal's spirit lance. The lance makes collecting focus trivial, and you can send it back out through the lance with soul annihilation, which will hit every single enemy in the lance's AOE radius, so if your focus is full and you hit five enemies you'd do about 1000 damage, and can refill it in one or two hits. Lance also has extended range and can be used behind your main tank if needed. Before then, you could use a high DPS bow to get focus, but you need a melee weapon for soul annihilation so I am a big fan of Concelhaut's Parasitic Quarterstaff. It isn't the fastest at collecting focus but does solid damage and you can use soul annihilation without having to be on the front row, plus it will heal you a decent amount. The staff remains a good alternative for highly pierce resistant enemies, though another option for pierce resistant enemies is target an adjacent enemy with the lance, and the AOE attack does crush damage, so as long as something isn't resistant to both pierce and crush (basically nothing) the lance typically works. Only real exceptions are 1 on 1 fights versus pierce-resistant things like Dorudugan, where you'd want the staff. Ghostheart / ascendant is a solid choice for ranged damage dealer and offensive cipher spells. Generally what you do is keep up borrowed instinct, summon your companion to flank an enemy, then use a high DPS bow (like Essence Interrupter or Frostseeker) to attack that enemy. When you reach ascended, go nuts with disintegration, soul ignition, mental binding, ancestor's memory, pain block, echoing shield, secret horrors, phantom foes, whatever is needed. You can easily script your character to attack what your animal companion is attacking, just use these blocks, then when you reach ascended you can take manual control of your character, disable the AI, or add more blocks for cipher spells (unfortunately there's no conditional to check if you are ascended without an AI mod). The top two blocks summon your companion if you don't have one or he falls unconscious, and they summon the companion near a marked prey if possible. The last block has your character attack whatever the animal is attacking. You can't script the animal himself so I find rangers are easiest to control if you script the human and control the animal. Though the animal should auto-attack the marked prey after being summoned near it (provided its AI isn't turned off), so you probably won't have to do anything besides maybe retarget him to priority targets now and then. It says "being attacked by my animal companion" in the priority block btw. Either berserker / streetfighter or berserker / devoted could work for the fourth. I'd pick whatever you're comfortable with. You could use either character for ranged or melee. One thing to note about berserker/devoted, you get the weapon proficiency you pick PLUS unarmed, so take monastic unarmed training and you can use the character as a very solid offtank early with either dual fists or fist + tuotilo's palm, then later when the blood mage / soul blade becomes the big offtank, have him switch to a bow (Essence Interrupter or Frostseeker again are fantastic, so probably pick hunting bows or war bows, whichever the ascendant won't be using). And for your fifth a single class druid is solid, they can do a lot of damage and support if necessary. Grab the sword Effort from Bekarna's Folly, enchant with Hemorrhaging and this character's DPS becomes nuts using avenging storm (it causes ANY crit to produce avenging storm bolts, like crits from pulsing spells like venombloom and insect plague). For subclass any of them could work (besides fury), though I'd probably pick shifter or ancient personally. Fury not being able to cast rejuvenation spells is too much of a downside in a party IMO, and lifegiver can't summon, which may or may not be a problem given you have a troubadour, but some of the druid summons are really good (like call to the primordials, bog ooze mainly, also the summon sporeling from ancient is very good for a L1 spell). Shifter has good default spell selections so even if you don't plan to shapeshift it is still slightly better than animist IMO. So one possible party based on this list: goldpact knight / troubadour, bloodmage / soulblade, ghostheart / ascendant, berserker/devoted, SC Shifter I think this looks very solid but you may want to wait for other veterans to chime in1 point

It certainly will be released. Eventually. Encased. Unlocked the best vehicle in the game. Though, the puzzle to acquire it was rather odd - it was a text-based (like a dialogue) puzzle and it was necessary to check a certain parameter by choosing a specific dialogue option repeatedly, which was not obvious. Also, it is nice that some of the quest items are possible to loot before taking the respective quest.1 point

Yeah if you add higher level spells via console they don't appear in the UI except under script abilities. Scripting overrides the user interface in some ways, like you can cast higher level spells and drink potions of final stand without being near death. So a multiclassed character could use such a spell in scripts but that solution is pretty janky...1 point

Encased. After reaching Act 2 I have realised that the Fatigue system seems to be meant to counter the non-lethal stealth play style - lock-picking/brute-forcing containers and non-lethal attacks increase fatigue, while normal attacks and searching containers/disarming mines/hacking terminals/crafting do not. Somehow unpleasant, though both non-lethal attacks and stealth are rather OP - the former does not depend on normal damage output or most resistances (can be dodged; one of the companions can KO anything in 1 turn), while the NPCs' mystical perception auras make the latter mostly easy. On the other hand, non-lethal takedowns do not give XP and the bodies cannot be looted. Edit. I find it very impressive that there are unique images for random events that are not used anywhere else.1 point

Stop that, it was entirely beneficial for the islanders to get exposed to some overseas cultures. Without my ancestors, they wouldn't have had a proper language, but still using that mix of grunting sounds and Latin they were using, not to mention teaching them some really important life skills like warfare and beer drinking! Don't get me started on the spiritual side of things, teaching those heathens some proper gods to worship, like Odin and Thor, instead of kneeling down before dumb rocks, worshiping tree stubs and praying to the sun1 point

To go with the classic quote: "Wallace and company screaming for “freedom!” in their Pict-paint while dressed up in 17th-century kilts on a bridge-less meadow is the equivalent of me making a movie about the Battle of Bunker Hill in which I dress the American colonials in Star Trek uniforms, paint their faces with made-up “Native American” designs … and then shot the film in a Florida parking lot." It might be the classical civilisation student in me, but docu-dramas on historical figures /events always bug me for how much they misrepresent the facts. Sure, dramatise around the facts, be fuzzy with things, craft your own dialogue, but mashing key points of history wrong just for the drama of it, grates on my nerves already. Mostly because how many people will then take it as fact and forget the "docu-drama" element. We are very good at what we do, and at times in history what we did best was Imperialism on the planet. Which historically is not a very nice thing. But, that's because we were better at it then pretty much every other country trying to do not-nice Imperialism. So I don't think it's a particular bad point on the British.1 point

Here's a short vid of a Berserker/Streetfighter who's currently frenzied, has Bloodlust, is Heated up, using the hunting bow modal and only attacks with auto-attacks (no sneak attack or Deathblows unlocked). DEX is 18. The initial 0-recovery is from a kill before (Blood Thirst). This attack speed is nearly the same as a lvl-1 Berserker/Streetfighter because Frenzy + Heating Up and Hunting Bow modal is all lvl1-material. THe rest adds a bit additional attack speed but the main bulk comes from those initial abilities. Auto-attacks' PEN is 13 with a Legendary weapon and Ring of the Marksman. Would be 11 with the initial exceptional Essence Interrupter. You can have three different dmg types with Hunting Bows: pierce/slash/shock. So most of times you'll penetrate well enough. For those encounter where that's not the case use Arteial Strike and Gouging Strike (and Deep Wounds and Blood Storm).1 point

It is worse in Chrome, with the auto-play "feature" of videos (not YouTube's auto-play, but just videos popping off instantly) it begins playing ads, then loads something else on the page, refreshes, the ad (or some other ad, depending on Google's mood) starts to play again, and then you get the cookie notification. That one also reloads the page, and then you get to see the third ad - and the video. The Shorts page is different, that loads, presents the cookie notification and then just plays the page video. Have a habit of trying out new stuff on YouTube in private windows. I still keep getting recommendations from The Critical Drinker just because I once watched a video on Star Trek: Picard. Guy argues that the series is bad because a female admiral gives lip to Picard. Can't really have seen any other Star Trek, because the fandom does not call Admiral Bitcheyev like that for no reason. Picard sucks because it is woke, not because the writing is terrible. You heard it here first, folks! And yes, I know that there is a function that would allow me to permanently ban recommendations from any channel, but that is reserved for Linus Tech Tips. **** In other news, there's an annual event that happens where I figure "I should change that" but then I never follow through. Got a letter with my church's tithing "request", i.e. the annual church tax, not an actual tithe, and about the only piece of legislation still left of our brief stint in the Third Reich. I keep wanting to simply drop my confession, but then I never do. In the past, this had at least an actual benefit in having an extra public holiday, but that has since been changed after the ECJ found it discriminatory towards other religions. The actual idea was to give everyone else off, but the government of course did the sensible thing and just removed it entirely. Poor companies and their record profits cannot cope with one day less work per year for others. Nope. Investors would have fled the country in droves. They're really nice about it too, in the letter, saying that they readily understand when people in these trying times cannot pay their church tax without it being a danger to their existance, so they offer a 5% discount and a payment plan, which requires that I grant them a SEPA direct debit mandate. Sure guys. How... noble of you. Really noble.0 points
