  2. A glance through Redfall's credits reveals that 70-80% of the Arkane Austin level/OW design team consists of people who've never worked on an Arkane game before. The "fresh blood" were collected from all over the OW games industry, working on games such as Mafia, Saints Row, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Destiny etc. before. OW lead designer Rachel Adams prior worked on ME Andromeda and (fittingly?) Anthem. There's at least one leading level designer in Kelly Mangerino who prior was but a junior on Mafia 3 and got promoted for this immediately. In some ways, this makes sense, since Arkane have been built from the ground-up as a highly specialized studio -- and cooperative looter shooter open world games wasn't what this specialization was about. The mirror men of Arkane | Polygon However, a bulk of the newbies according to their LinkedI were hired as late as early 2022. There's still veterans in key positions, such as Bare, Huso and Steve Powers, people that go way back all the way to Deus Ex. Still, Prey's system lead Seth Shain is at Bungie. Prey's lead level designer meanwhile at Archetype. Gaming journalists, this would likely make for an interesting post mortem, eventually. And that's even without considering that Arkane founder and Prey director Raf Colantonio has left Arkane alongside a couple of other Arkane guys to form WolfEye (their first game, Weird West, is actually pretty fun). Bets accepted that they will be joined by more Arkane staff for their second game, for which they've signed a deal with an investor and posted job offers. Despite my ancient 1050ti not being up to par, I'd finally just bought an oldschool boxed copy of Deathloop (from Arkane Lyon, with the fabulous Dana Nightingale, once hired from the Thief fan mission community and famous for D2's Clockwork Mansion, still there). That's all you can do as a consumer: Sending the right market signals. Rather than the wrong ones. Because wasting studios like this on projects like Redfall is the blockbusting gaming industry at its most immature -- and similar as if Hollywood were to waste its better talent on the most generic Marvel spin-offs and Assassin's Creed movie tie-ins for life.

  3. after a good majority of my 350 hours spent in character creation, lurking these boards, and theorycrafting, I figured I could start posting here. First of, many thanks to Boeroer, Shai Hulud, thelee, kaylon and elric for all the builds and info posted in here. Came up with a Woedica themed party, because I've always wanted to do a hardcore "Lawful Evil alignment" RP run. Went custom for class flexibility and because I'm not a fan of whining companions whenever I do cruel things. The party: [CORE] Berzerker / Steel Garrote Fanatic MC with Shattered Vengeance & any other weapon Dual Wield Trickster / Unbroken Swashbuckler Hireling with sword & board for disengagement or 2 blunderbusses SC Priest of Woedica Hireling with a pistol or fists [SIDE] Stalker / Beguiler Seer Troubadour / Psion Spiritualist The standard tactic: MC runs into a big group, frenzies, and hits stuff with Shattered Vengeance (mainly for Shards of Woedica RP flavor) and other weapon dual wield. The unbroken/trickster tanks if needed, but can escape to enemy backline to get shooters, or behind grouped mobs on the Fanatic, casting additional afflictions like the Ryngrym's Repuslive Visage. The Priest of Woedica uses Writs to add afflictions, buffs party, and can cast Triumph of the Crusaders or Watchful Presence on the Fanatic. Took Fire Godlike to allow the Fanatic to stay Bloodied longer with the +1 armor rating. I didn't min-max the Priest, so it can also run in and punch mobs with Spiritual Weapon when things go well (because why not?). I really like the interaction between SC priest buffs and the Fanatic. Haven't had the Fanatic go down once. Side chars, I just added afterwards to have more buffs (from Ciphers and Caster) and have a melee/ranged flexible guy with pet in case I want to set off the Fanatic and Swashbuckler off into the fold, so the Seer can quickly take down any enemies that make it past the frontliners. I've been having a lot of fun with this party, though it's steamrolling things a bit too well. I'm pretty sure the [SIDE] chars are completely superfluous...I'm not much for playing solo but I might try a reduced party. I really want to find a way to make a 'Spanish Tercio' & Alatriste-inspired build, where the gear would be the same as in Spanish Tercios, but the roles similar to Alatriste's band of rogues, i.e. some sword and board infantry, pikes, crossbows/arquebus gunners, a duelist with daggers or rapier, and 1 priest (because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition). Anyhow - my questions are: what are your experiences with creating party synergies? Have you come up with any fun RP inspired party builds? How would you go about creating a party around Steel Garrote + Woedica Priest? Any ideas for a cool small party with lots of synergy?

  6. How much have you played tje game and what difficulty settings?? If you aren't doing POTD a ton of parties will work so whatever you like the most is best. Assuming POTD upscaled...If I did a woedica themed party I would probably make everyone a priest of woedica or in the steel garrote, but im not that creative. Maybe have a Priest, a paladin, and a few "initiates" who would be multiclassed from whatever and want to join the steel garrote or priesthood. The SG classes have great synergy with afflictions so we pick classes that cause afflictions For a really simple small party that works incredibly well, use Steel garrote paladin x 2 Priest of woedica / troubadour The Priest chants many lives and the paladins can spam divine immolation healing each other and burning everything and getting back 2 resources each per skeleton dead. Priest of woedica / bellower also extremely good. Weyc robe can reduce chant duration by 50% narrowing the gap between them and troubadour, and they can cast invocations at +6 power level I've tried this party and it shreds anything not immune to burn. But doesn't fully come online until very late. --- For a full party that isn't as gimmicky...far from optimal due to restrictions of priest and SG but... Steel garrote paladin - divine retribution goes well with theme and is procced on any summon death, at high levels would sacred sacrifice a lot Priest of woedica - it's a Priest with writs. SG / FF - great tank and damage dealer Priest of woedica / bellower - becomes very powerful with weyc items and least unstable coil, chants many lives for main paladin Priest of woedica / blood mage - cannot get more versatile, king of buffs Also like sg/troubadour, helwalker/priest, streetfighter/SG, SG/soul blade. Actually id prefer the helwalker/priest versus the priest. For woedica themed stuff theres the hood worn by the inquisitor in oathbinder. Also the magistrates cudgel in subterranean temple, which judges people giving you +10 accuracy (for spells too). Restricted to cipher, fighter, and monk. I like the cipher version the most since he benefits a lot from extra accuracy and stuns on criit And make sure you import a history where you went woedica, like keeper of secrets. Mostly flavor, but NPC steel garrotes do have a special boon. Unfortunately you can't get it. Kind of weird that enacting woedicas plan makes no difference to the games plot...

  7. Ah, I see. Unfortunately Damage over Time spells (apply once, does ticks of small damage afterwards without additional hit rolls) like Shining Beacon don't profit from Scion of Flame and its siblings (see Spirit of Decay with DoT corrosion spells for example). In all other cases of direct fire damage* it will work, even with weapons (see the Firebrand summoned great sword) and non-spell abilities (see Flames of Devotion). It also works with lashes like Turning Wheel and as I said Flames of Devotion - also with the Wildstrike Burn of Druids or generally with all burning lashes on a weapon. It will raise the lash damage by 20%. So if the lash was doing 25% additional dmg. Scion of Flame would increase that from 25% to (0.25*1.2=0.3) 30% lash. And yes, that sucks and you couldn't know that. It's one of the little oversights that never got fixed and that you can only know about if you skim this forum, directly ask here or do extensive testing yourself. So it can be frustrating. *See Divine Mark and also Storm of Holy Fire: this one does multiple hit rolls which all do direct burn damage, it's not a DoT spell like Shining Beacon that only hits once and then ticks away like a poison. Both will work with Scion of Flame. --- Good finding with the mod option/Turning Wheel.

  8. You have too many support/tanks and very few dps. Usually in front you should have a tank and an offensive tank and In the back support, CC and dps. If characters can have multiple roles at the same time it's of course better. Here are a few strong parties ideas: paladin/troubadour, devoted/berserker, forbidden fist, ascendant/arcane archer, blood mage/assassin steel garrote/blood mage, devoted/berserker, soul blade/trickster, ghost heart/helwalker, troubadour/priest forbidden fist/steel garrote, skald/berserker, assassin/tactician, blood mage/troubadour, ascendant/arcane archer

  9. Download dnSpy: https://github.com/dnSpyEx/dnSpy which lets you decompile, edit and recompile .NET dlls Go to "...\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\Managed\" and make a backup of "Assmbly-CSharp.dll", then load it in dnSpy. You can now implement the changes you want, though it's probably gonna be a real pain to find what you want and rewrite the UI logic.

  10. It's only crit dmg bonus. I find it hard to justify to get flanked with a low health ranged char and deal with melee attacks that potentially one-shoot me for more crit damage. If you can get flanked reliably but without taking dmg otherwise though (like by a party member's spell or whatever) it would be def. an option. Switching from an initial blunderbuss shot to bow would also work, but it lowers accuracy further and in a party that's way too much micro for my taste. And I tend to play without AI on - although this build is very nice for AI scripting.

  12. He is immune to dexterity afflictions so he should be... Now I'm having trouble defeating Nemnok. Should have grabbed late game gear first... anyway I get swarmed before he's even hurt. Should come back with Scordeo's Edge at least. EDIT: Got him. Key with this gear seems to be to start in a corner, use oozes to protect one side, try to group everyone coming from one direction and cast great maelstrom and venombloom to wipe out followers, then bog ooze can debuff nemnok who is vulnerable to stuns and petrification. That bog ooze is like miles better than any other druid summon, it's crazy. It has a huge AOE insect plague but the main draw is its foul wave ability, which it can spam indefinitely, it's a line attack with length 14 and penetration 16, accuracy 103, does crush/corrode, disorients, sickens, and prones. So good that if I don't get a bog ooze I just recast the spell ASAP. The only good thing about the other oozes is the greater black ooze splits when klilled, and the smaller oozes have no duration, so you can create an army of little oozes if you want. So at this point I'm doing concelhaut, cave grub, water dragon, nemnok, and fire dragon without the epic gear. Maybe belranga because she's in the vicinity. After ashen maw I head to SSS to grab the least unstable coil, after SSS go grab weyc items, and from there it is pretty easy.

  13. My favourite Faeroese songbird strikes again I haven't seen the movie, but what an interesting soundtrack. Sounds like an extended version of another of her songs 'Trollabundin' or the latter sounds like a condensed version of the soundtrack

  14. If you need a great damage dealer in the early game not much beats Berserker/Streetfighter with Hunting Bow, preferably Essence Interrupter imo. Right out of the gates it gets Frenzy with higher action speed, Streetfighter passive with -50% recovery and 50% recovery from the bow modal. The self dmg of Frenzy leads to blooded which triggers the Streetfighter's Heating up. If you go with 3 CON this happens very quickly, but later in the game you would need to counter the self dmg more - bc. it scales more steeply than your health. First Frenzy + bow modal will speed you up, then Frenzy + Heating Up + modal will give you insane shooting speed and when Frenzy wears out you'll still have 2x -50% recovery. Of course the +2 PEN helps, too. Hunting bows get +5 acc naturally, so the malus of the modal is not that bad. And if you pick human as your race you will always unlock Fighting Spirit which counters the malus, too. Then buying the exceptional Essence Interrupter that early on the game does its part for your acc, too. This build can plow through Gorecci Str and the Digsite with ease - if you have somebody to keep enemies away from it. Luckily Hunting Bows have a great range. Blooded will already add 25% dmg to the high Sneak Attack of the bloodied Streetfighter. Later add Bloodlust even more speed), Bloody Slaughter and Blood Thirst and go the Blood Storm route of Frenzy - because the raw dmg is nice and bc. one kills so quickly the duration will be extended quite a bit. But then you have to counter with healing over time at some point. A pet with "heal on kill" can help. Devil of Caroc Breastplate + Abraham is a solid choice, also gets rid of the confusion. Later Savage Defiance. You can also go the Spirit Frenzy route and unlock Sneak Attack automatically with the stagger. The you can unlock deathblows right away with on Crippling Strike for example. Then also Brute Force can come into play in combination with Withering Strike (or some other source of sicken or weaken from the party) so that you can target a lower fortitude instead. I'm undecided on which is better. Spirit Frenzy is probably easier to control because the frenzy duration is finite. Ofc. Deathblows... I really liked Crippling Strike as my no.1 "affliction" attack. Upgraded to Arterial Strike when I went the Spirit Frenzy route and as Debilitating Strike if I chose Blood Storm (fast Deathblow unlock). It is cheap, scales its base dmg lovely via Power Level - esp. in combination with all the additive dmg bonuses - and has +2 bonus pen right away which stacks with the Berserker's +2 PEN. Once a target is afflicted you can just auto-attack (aka let the gatlin-gun do its work). As finisher I would use Barbaric Smash instead of Finishing Blow because often if will get refunded and it does comparable dmg (at least on crit). With Deep Wounds you might want to switch weapons to A's Legacy - because shock dmg wouldn't trigger Deep Wounds. But the summons from the EE's crits and then kills are still very nice to have, so maybe that's a matter of preference or party composition and also which enemy you are facing. It is not a build that improves like crazy after several levels but instead starts as very impactful and just keeps being good on a more flat "power curve". With Essence Interrupter this guy also rips Steelclads apart even if you are underleveled - an enemy who can otherwise be a problem if taken on too early. You can do the same with blunderbuss and combine the flanked with the bloodied for high crit dmg - but the shooting will be significantly slower and the acc not much better. Also the low range is really hurting this setup because you will get attacked a lot more. Purely single target damage though ( no problem with the initial confusion) - so I prefer him to take on dangerous but more squishy backliners like casters. Hes very good at killing them very quickly. As you can see the Berserker is mostly there to unlock bloodied/Heating up very quickly without the need to get flanked or get actually attacked by enemies - and the +2 PEN. This build profits a lot from party summons and/or mind control because it draws enemies attention (especially ranged enemies) away from him.

  17. After a couple years away from Conan Exiles I scooped up Isle of Siptah during the 5th Anniversary sale and jumped back in. I'm rather enjoying the Isle of Siptah map, it may just be that it's all new to me so I get the joys of exploration and discovery again, whereas I knew the entirety of the Exiled Lands like the back of my hand when I stopped playing a couple of years ago. It seems like they added some new lighting effects to the game in the years I've been away, maybe it's just my imagination. I did a custom game setup and doubled the length of all parts of the day night cycle. The game feels better to me with the days progressing more slowly. One of the nice things about Conan Exiles is that the game is EXTREMELY configurable and, so long as I'm playing in single player (which I am) or hosting, I can change options and parameters on the fly.

  23. I am happy that Kim Woo-Bin (Uncontrollably Fond, Heirs, Master, Twenty) has seemingly beaten his nasopharynx (throat/nasal areas) cancer after a few years and is back to filming. I already watched Alienoid (movie) - he was good, the film had a decent premise but was "eh." Now it's this series. Sadly the trailer, for me, doesn't build any hype. It looks like a cross between The Postman, Death Stranding, and k-drama dystopian conglomerate espionage. The overdone dramatic/grim music in the trailer isn't helping. Maybe it'll be decent. I'm just glad he's still around to keep taking new projects.

  25. Yup. Now I have my own apartment but those who didn't invest in a property in the past 10 years probably have to pay rent for the rest of their lives. Inflation is skyrocketing and internet censorship is at its peak pretty much. I can only use a VPN on my phone. I have to download stuff on my phone and transfer them to my PC...talk about workaround tactics. On the plus side, women don't wear hijab anymore and the government is too scared to fight back on that front. They still use nerve agents on our schools(women) to test it out for Russians. Can you believe this? 'Here is a school full of beautiful 16 year old Iranian school girls...let's use them as guinea pigs for our Russian overlords!!!' Terrifying. What's worse is that the opposition is divided into 3 groups that can't stop fighting each other: -The MEK - Islamic leftist group with Marxist roots. Think Kim Jong Un but with Islam. Pretty much the least popular group. Nobody likes them really. -The Democrats - They are mostly on the American democrats side. Most folks accuse them of being the Islamic republics reformists shedding skin. They(like most democrats) look after their own pockets so a lot of people hate them. -The Pahlavi Dynasty - Now this is the most popular group/person(Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi). They have a reputation for being patriots. They aren't racists and strongly condemn all sorts of discrimination against minority groups. They aren't backed by any specific country or party though, so they might have a long way ahead of them. I don't know how things will proceed but a lot of it will be decided once(hopefully) Putin shoots himself in the head.
