  1. Huh. Well, I guess it makes sense that Epic themselves would be the first ones to get a game out into the wild with their extra shiny new engine. Despite it being f2p, I'm not about to try it out because I'm afraid that if I play it for any length of time my hair (what's left of it) would turn blue and I would start adding pre-roll ads for Raid Shadow Legends to my posts. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to see what all the fuss was about.

  2. There's a Finnish war joke concerning Finns and Russians. "Come on guys, one Finn is worth ten Russians[*]", a commander shouts to his troops. "Yeah, but what do you do when the eleventh one comes?" a fairly demoralized soldier asks. This appears to be the way Russia wages this war. In fact, there's an article today arguing precisely this point: Russia intends to go on as long as it has to and kill troops on both sides, until "the eleventh Russian is left standing". They really are that cynical, even to their own people. [*] (Incidentally, this is even fairly close to true, when you look at the casualties in the Winter War.) EDIT: Speaking of Russia and stupid approach: Gorth, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

  4. The front is more stabilized due to the lakes of mud, than the big number of mobiks. According to Zaluzhny, Ukraine has currently 1 million of mobilized soldiers as well, with tens of thousands having professional trainings all around Europe and Canada. Russians on the other hand, have proper training for 10-20k IIRC, mobiks in Belarus (someone correct me please, if I remeber wrong the number). Most of the other training grounds deep in Russia are in very bad condition. According to mobik wifes, they are shooting maximum two or three days in a week, and then are doing nothing. According to their wifes, more than 2/3 of them are suffering with various type of breath apparatus illness. From easy cold, through COVID, to serious pneumonia, and are facing lack of medicine to get treated. All of that, while “camping” in temperatures bellow -30 degrees Celaius

  5. You know, your constant putting words in peoples mouths, misrepresenting what they say for no other purpose than to try to rile them up is at best petty trolling and at worst, cheapens the posts of serious posters like mamoulian war and xzar, which make well presented views and put some effort and actual thought into their posts, because you taint their position by association.

  6. It's a nightmare in heavy traffic, coming from the east, everyone needs to go north through the tunnel, north of Gullbergsmotet, and there's a single lane, and noone plans their route properly, so instead of a long and orderly queue you get 3 lanes trying to merge into it at the very last second! I've done it once, and I'm never doing it again, I drive 15km extra around Gothenburg and come in from the northeast instead, it's faster..

  10. Weaponry worship is indeed stupid, been here through the entire war I guess that's just what modern war is. Bayraktar had a song too, no ? The St. Javelina and HIMARS o'clock nonsense. God bless the Internet.

  20. What the actual ****. This is so amazing. I always thought someone would make this, so I'm not sure why I'm so surprised it was Noqn. So jealous you're able to do such transformational work! Just thinking about the conversation editor is so inspirational. Maybe one day we'll have a perfect writing mod that makes this the perfect game? There's so many intriguing questions and moral dilemmas that could be better enunciated in the game.

  22. It was not as clear cut for Death and Rebirth, I think. Death(True)², perhaps - as that is a pure recap - but the original Death and Rebirth was a recap and documentary style re-arrangement of the series and added the first parts of End of Evangelion in the run, as far as I remember from what I read about them. So there was at least a point to watch it in the theater, and it could also serve as a refresher before going into The End of Evangelion. The VE recap, on the other hand, is utterly pointless. It doesn't even re-arrange anything, it's just the regular run of the series cut down to feature film length. They never go away, and they keep on standing out like a sore thumb against the otherwise really, really great visuals of the series.

  26. I am wondering, how would you consider the actions of Russians on the occupied territories, which they are taking towards Ukrainian speaking population, if you are so much triggered by using the word “profane” connected to the use of Russian language in Ukraine

  28. Even in the original, I tried to do as little base-building as possible (in fact, I deconstructed the literal singular room I had built the moment I got the big ship that served as a mobile base), which is probably why I only play an hour or two of Below Zero every couple of weeks: unlike the original game, there's really not much that feels like it's driving me to keep playing it. A kind of awkward and uninteresting story and no great depths to explore (or at least not any that I've found), it's O.K. but not nearly as compelling. As far as video game experiences go, taking the Prawn all the way down the Lost River in the original while not having any clue where I was going but being inexorably pulled deeper in while trying to avoid leviathans and crabsquids to be able to solve the story was pretty top tier - dinking around decorating rooms has never been my thing and never will be.

  30. My patience for metroidvania is pretty low, but the Momodora games are an exception as short and simple examples of the genre - I've played them all (except for the side-game Minoria, which was pretty horrible from like the hour or two I played of it), and I think they're making another one. This reminds me that I should finish Below Zero...I seem to only play like an hour or two every couple of weeks...

  40. If Evangelion can have a nigh pointless recap movie (Death and Rebirth / Death(True)^2) that doesn't work for literally anybody regardless of whether they have or have not seen the show, I don't see why Violet Evergarden can't.

  41. "But what about..." I mean I was going to let the whole thing drop but on the good for goose, good for gander principle per above; are you going to admit that your statement "That is absolute bull**** Russian propaganda. Russian language was never penalized." was instead a load of Ukrainian/ western propaganda? No? Then you're just making yourself look silly by carrying it on.

  42. 1899: I guessed the end after 2 episodes (nothing too difficult) but I thought it was too obvious so I expected something else @Gorth one of the "Spanish guys" was actually Portuguese and, speaking that language, I noticed it straight away, when he got scared visiting the other ship in episode 1.
