kinda thinking the problem is people more than religion or faith. erase any memory o' the sky fairy and you think people would be more kind and compassionate? erase existence o' the bible and sudden the people o' the world become more tolerant and less bigoted? is not difficult to point to nations which is largely antagonistic and/or ambivalent regarding faith and yet they is capable o' the exact same stoopid as those primitives who continue to believe creation fables and follow the guidance o' long dead (and perhaps neverwere) prophets. we suggest the fundamental problem is a failure to recognize human nature, and people is the one constant you is never gonna be able to remove from any social, political, religious endeavour. am willing to be critical o' religion but the problem for us is the recognition religion is inextricable linked to personal and varied notions o' faith. 'course once every couple o' years is enough to remind us nobody is ever gonna have their mind changed 'bout religion based on the crpg board posts from a guy who tortures pronouns. is a dead end issue, so the rest o' you may feel free to crucify or canonize religion w/o us. The focus you generate is proportional to your weapon damage (ie your damage bonuses) and the SA bonus depends on your focus to which are applied again all the damage bonuses. (It works a bit like wounding in PoE1 which was affected twice by might.)2 points
-
To add to what Boeroer already explained very well: the rogue can also generate free focus from misses through Riposte/Outward Spikes (from shield) or through disengagement attacks (from Ryngrim's Repulsive Visage) the SA bonus is affected twice by the weapon bonuses (when is generated and also when is applied), thus a rogue can generate the highest dps with SA another alternative to Tuotilo's Palm is Magran's Blessing which can also generate free focus through its damage shield (which is considered a shield attack and benefits from the Burning Strike enchantment and other damage bonuses including sneak attack/deathblows); the dmg shield targets reflex which can be lowered using flail's modal. Of course the monk can also generate free focus through Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming (Sun and Moon is very good for that) and even some disengagement attacks (with Left Hand of the Obscured equipped), however his SA damage is lower overall. A good ring to use is the Ring of Focused Flame which affects the first head of the flail (to avoid misses from SA) and also the damage shield.2 points

Sun and Moon allows for continuous usage of Soul Annihilation. Because it has two hit rolls per strike it will first dump the focus into raw damage - and the second hit will already generate new focus for the next strike. So no auto attack or rogue strike needed on between (still possible of course). Soul Annihilation needs focus to execute, it has a min threshold. If you use any other weapon than sun and moon you will have 0 focus after Soul Annihilation. You'd have to use another attack to gain focus first before you could reuse SA. Thus you cannot use it continuously. Kaylon's apporach is to use Sun & Moon in combination with Tuotilo's Palm. If you can use Soul Annihilation all the time (basically, missing and not-generating-enough-focus-with-one-roll not accounted for) you can skip attacks with the bash because SA is a primary attack. The bash is low dmg and a worse alternative than your main hand weapon. So skipping it is preferable. Yet you will have the higher attack speed of dual wielding for primary attacks and also the higher defenses from Tuotilo's Palm - which add up nicely with the Trickster's deflection and reflex buffs. An alternative is Soulblade/Monk which uses the same trick basically. In this case you also profit from the nice defense buff of Tuotilo's Palm (defense per wound) and Sun & Moon as excellent catalyst for Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming. It hasn't as high deflection as Trickster and less SA raw dmg - but still a nice combo because of Tuotilo's Palm's enchantment and the general synergies of Monk and Cipher. And you won't have limited resources (besides Mortification). Also Stunning Surge with Sun&Moon + TP is great. Accuracy is also potentially very good (Enduring Dance + Instruments of Pain + Borrowed Instincts). Casting anything else profits from high INT of course. Basically any combo with Soulblade and Sun & Moon has a similar approach. Trickster combines defenses and dmg output very nicely (which also speeds up focus gain considerably and makes SA very strong due to the Sneak Attack/Deathblows). But you can basically do this continuous SA-thing with Soulblade/Fighter -/Skald, -/Paladin etc., too. If you manage to generate enough focus with the second roll to execute the next SA.2 points

Everyone's fine on my end, but my wife has tested positive today, so she's going back into isolation. This is getting really annoying, but hey, she dealt with Alpha pretty well, so I guess Omicron (if that's what it is) won't be an issue either. Hopefully.2 points

Pointing out the logical flaws in the right-wing bible pounders arguments isn't going to work because they fundamentally do not care about being hypocrites. I live in a place these folks control and I can tell yall right now they will throw that sanctity of life stuff out the window the second it comes to empowering the state to execute people or holding business accountable for wrecking someone's life. They're a bunch of ghouls who should never be given the benefit of the doubt.2 points

Unless the tooltip wasnt showing it (very possible), I dont think there was any multiplicative scaling based on PL1 point
-
Yes that is the case, thank you for interpreting me correctly. Its true that its not exclusive in terms of unique scaling, but its pretty rate, definitely wasn’t expecting it. From what I’m seeing that seems to be the case. My Howler was at +2 Barbarian PL, and the tooltip was telling me Barbarian level was adding 4 total damage. Math was checking out. Even running the healing chant alongside Soft Winds wasnt enough to mitigate it, and its only going to get way worse as your level goes up. I know there are some builds and equipment that can work around it, but its a much more costly downside than I was anticipating lol1 point
-
I checked just now in the game and it's a flat +2 per PL, no percentages involved. Prestige also adds +2 base dmg as expected. So do other PL bonuses like the +1 from Stone of Power.1 point
-
Berserker self dmg numbers don't scale like normal damaging or healing abilities do (+5% base per PL). Instead it gains +2 raw base dmg per Power Level iirc. Frenzy starts at PL1 - so at PL7 (for example a multiclass Berserker/Skald at lvl 20) it gained 6 Power Levels: 2*(7-1) = 12 extra damage. It starts with 2, so 12+2 = 14 base damage. A single class Barb would even go up to PL9 and thus receive even more raw dmg. This base dmg is used to calculate the final damage - which includes universal dmg bonuses like those from Might (3% per point over 10), Infamous Captain (5%), Harley pet (10% - it is supposed to only work for ranged attacks but actually works for all sources of dmg), Baubles of the Fin (3%) and so on. Because of that the dmg can scale a lot higher than that of healing abilites that start with the same base but only get +5% per PL.1 point

potions are considered active effects, so won't generally stack, though there are some oddities (interrupt chance and hit->crit, graze->hit, miss->graze stack on independently) in particular, druid's nature's bounty buffs won't stack with similar active effects. pretty redundant with frenzy (aside from perception). though you still get healing.1 point
-
Yes, they will stack. All "passive" abilities from items (I mean stuff that does not appear as active ability in your action bar) will stack with everything. And some other those actives will do so, too (but not all). If the Paladin is using Exalted Endurance and Shining Bulwark then all party members in range will get +2 AR. The range is extremely short though! The base radius is only 2 meters. So the party members wanting to get protected by Defesive Beacon really have to cuddle with the wielder of Shining Bulwark. Another drawback is that Defensive Beacon from Shining Bulwark only gets applied to allies but NOT the wielder (unlike Exalted Endurance that also works for the Paladin himself). So sombody else will have to carry that shield so that your Paladin may profit from the additional AR - and stay very close. *cuddle-cuddle*1 point

Tbf the first posts all voted for Scout iirc. Arquebus is an obvious choice for Maia - so I think one would settle with the Red Hand quite naturally (because Dragon's Dowry is expensive as hell - too expensive to just casually buy it before you will discover the Red Hand imo). I mean the Red Hand is not only dealing fantastic dps compared to other arquebuses, it also negates some problems arquebus users might have with certain pierce immune vessels. But after all - Scout with Red Hand is also pretty boring imo. It's just shooting 24/7 with the occasional escape or Evasive Roll. But in some cases that may be exactly what you need. It's easy to set up Maia-Scout+Red Hand with custom AI. So if you want an automated party member to cut down on party micromanagement it's an ideal companion build I would say.1 point

one level o' thug is needed 'cause those who would be rendered shaken by your intimidation is instead frightened. might as well make level seven a thug level. gotta think hard on what you want from sosiel. for most o' the game the priest's best abilities/features is cast outside o' combat, so is possible to ignore any non combat feat, but going intimidation means you delay/lose outflank and other teamwork feats which is an issue if you want sosiel combat focused... and another reason for going azata as we functional save two feat selections by getting 'em free through life bonding friendship. so your first three feats is: 1) weapon focus: glaive (prerequisite for dazzling display), 2) dazzling display (not necessary, but reducing the entire screen o foes to a pants-wetting state is desirable,) 3) intimidating prowess. is possible to flip intimidating prowess and dazzling display, and such might be recommended if you play on core or higher difficulty. as often as not, fear locking a single powerful foe is more desirable than terrorizing the mobs, and bosses require a high intimidation check to be successful. IF you are staying focused on combat, and that is recommended, am gonna suggest your remaining feats be outflank, improved critical: glaive, shattered defenses and shake it off... not necessary in that order. make certain you invest a point into your persuasion skill at every level. worth considering: currently the animal domain is broken to your advantage. acquire an animal companion through a domain functional gets you the benefits o' boon companion for free, but am thinking this gets patched at some point. so if you take impossible domain: animal, then you may need consider adding the boon companion feat. drop shake it off. is many items which boost persuasion and intimidation specific. we mentioned a few/most o' the notables in the following linked post: with buffing spells such as greater heroism, you will have a +90 intimidation modifier by the end o' the game... if you go azata 'cause there is a couple spells and a sleep bonus which will add another +8-10 to your persuasion. even w/o azata, +80s is still kinda fantastic. HA! Good Fun!1 point

You can sneak attack with everything and the kitchen sink in the games, yes. If you want to play a somewhat straight martial character you could make a Motherless Tiefling Instincual Warrior*, start with 18 STR and 17 WIS for an eventual 22 STR/18 WIS at 20. Take the Beast Totem rage powers, have someone buff you with Magic Fang, pick Limitless Rage and Mythic Charge, then have fun. Take a two handed weapon with a decent crit range like Falchion (18-20) or a monstrous crit multiplier like Scythe (x4). Can add four levels of Fighter for the bonus feats and drop them into Improved Criticals and Cleave. Mutation Warrior works pretty well and will give you more stats. Take Archmage Armour and drink Mage Armour potions, that actually procss the effect (not sure about the latest patches, haven't read up or played in a while now). Have someone craft them and buy whatever you can find. Technically I guess you could do the same with a (Primalist) Blood Rager, but Motherless Tieflings synergize better with Instinctual Warriors due to the WIS bonus. The only downside to playing "plain" martial characters is that the best suited, ahm, Mythical Path is probably Trickster. The primary reason for taking Dazzling Display on Camellia isn't using it, I think, it was bugged for a long time anway and just disappeared from the menu, it's unlocking Shatter Defenses. As such, if you bild her to use that, it's a good choice regardless. One level of Thug turns any Shaken effect into Fear after four (?) turns. So that's all you really need. Intimidating Prowess, put skill points in persuade and make use of the hilarious amount of +5 to persuasion checks gear that's lying around like everywhere. Consider making a summoning-focused Ember to hold the front lines until the fear effect takes. It's not like you need her to burn everything to a crisp in such cases. *Technical explanation: Additional unarmed attacks, Initiative Bonus through wisdom, +2 STR, +2 WIS from the racial abilities. Better will saves than "regular" martial characters. Mythic Charge applies on Pounce attacks you get from Greater Beast Totem. Buff Magic Fang, quaff a potion, press rage and sic the guy at enemies. Pretty simple, all in all.1 point

I'm not surprised. There is so much ignorance on the left regarding racial things (they apparently see only black and white). Germanic (Suebie, Franks, Angles) tribes, have been different than celtic tribes, which have been different than iberian, greek, latin, slav, nordic, caspian, sarmathian etc. Same as there are differences in west africans, equator ones, east africans etc. But it would not fit well, if there is more than just black and white and some more generalization. It would break a narrative that all with more pale look are somehow privileged...1 point

Yeah, and the writing was fine if that was the intention. He's overhearing how his "colleagues" from the DARK ZONE think of him as ridiculous and weak because he keeps messing up against the two girls and he goes off to mess everything up because he underestimates two young girls he already had beaten in an attempt to show strength. I mean... I found that part stupid, but it does make sense from a certain point of view. Then there's something else: Nanoha had the fanservice stuff right from the start with the the transformations and was offensive enough in a certain early episode, but you're not wrong - the brain peeling terribleness in terms of writing quality, animation (that's something I have no doubt will continually get worse with each season) and sexual assault crept into the franchise later. At least for PreCure I'm almost sure sexual assault isn't going to be a main entry and the fanservice elements are so far limited to girls in skirts, which barely counts considering Japanese school uniforms really ARE like that. Whether or not the other series will hold up, that's something I'll just have to see. If they don't, I figure it's not going to be the worst problem. Most Pretty Cure teams don't get more than a season. I can stop whenever I want to, considering that each season is a new storyline with new characters (I mean, so far it worked for Love Live!'s spin-offs that I have no desire to watch at all). Yeah, no, I don't like that intro song no matter how often I try it, but that's fine. On the other hand, how can you not be brainwashed by Junko Iwao, she does know what she's doing. Also that English dub on Netflix, while certainly better than the original one, isn't the best either... so yeah.1 point

^ Yeah, that always sucks. I didn't have 14 but when I built a PC (the last one? My current one? I forget) one of the two initial storage HDD's acted all super flaky in days ... didn't know what was going on at first but it was just immediate failure I guess. had to replace it/get another one. I think that's the only drive I've had that was basically just a dud from the getgo vs. lasting years.1 point

I have watched every episode and read the manga, and I have no idea how to describe it. Every arc somehow manages to be weirder and no one stops yelling. Truly an indescribable story that you start because of the memes and stay because it's actually good.1 point

Finally got started on JoJo's Bizarre Adventures... truly bizarre indeed Not sure how to describe it really (only 5 episodes in btw, still 19 to go of this part of the story). Sometimes it really is an animated Manga (literally) and sometimes you get more exposition in the moment before a fist hits a face than a full novel Interesting enough so far to keep me going though. Need to find out more about that stone mask that turns people into vampires and Dio needs some kind of horrible, final death too...1 point

Speaking of characters...I saw this YouTube video today and I (mostly) agree with what he's saying. He mentions The Walking Dead a lot as an example but it applies to many shows/films. The "punishment" a character has to go through and when it becomes too much where you no longer care/have motivation to watch. It can work a bit better in a film imo, because that's a shorter period of time to watch, but such can still overwhelm audiences there too.1 point

yes. it's a neat and subtly powerful effect. for example, if you have the special axe from SSS, you can turn any might inspiration into energized just by rapidly switching into it repeatedly, and it won't cost you anything. as another example, if you like micromanagement, you can switch into a large shield right after each attack, and back to a normal weapon before your next attack comes up, maximizing your defenses without costing you offense (this is much easier to do consistently on turn-based mode). as another example, for trash fights you can load of 3 out of 4 weapon slots with guns and just switch through them real fast and not worry about reloading before settling on your final slot for the rest of the fight. still another example, load up a couple weapon slots with xbow/arbalest with their modal. if you need to interrupt someone, switching to one of those, fire it off, and switch back to a normal weapon. something to consider is there's an SSS medium armor that gives you -1% recovery time penalty bonus per poitn of athletics. it has increasing returns. with a fighter (who starts off with some athletics), maxed atheltics investment, and some gear with bonus athletics, combined with armored grace, you can have decent protection while also being super fast. (i think i got xoti as a monk up to a -25% armor recovery penalty which pretty much cancels out the medium armor penalty on its own; a fighter with starting athletics and the right background and the chameleon ring [fighters get +1 athletics] should be able to even better, plus also has armored grace)1 point

This is probably one of the most nitpicky posts i've made. But the Black Ant Armor and the Red Ant Armor looking identical makes sense until you realize their armor type. One is light, and so a lack of chest armor makes sense. But the other is heavy, and looks out of place when you compare it to the other heavy armor which cover up more of the body.1 point
