RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS

Also Jensen's Moebius was out yesterday, reviews are a bit negative on it.

Reviews seems to be heavily divided on it, some have liked very much and some think that it's very dull, and some think it is ok, but nothing remarkable. I played its first chapter last night, story seems to have potential and mechanics wise it is typical point and click game. My first impression of it is that it's OK, but it didn't necessary have enough magnetism to be memorably or keep me playing long sessions.

Expected as much from the betas I played, shame, but isn't a total POS by any means.  The RPS review I found annoying, just in the writing style.  Comments aren't much better but then again, they are Walker's monkeys.

The few I've seen are crushingly negative. Its a pity, I always follow her work and hope for a new GK like adventure. Incidentally the 20th anniversary edition (or whatever its called) looks pretty nice so far.

Broken Sword 5 Episode 2 is out today at 6 PM BST.

We are delighted to let you know that Broken Sword – the Serpent’s Curse: Episode 2 will be releasing at 6pm BST today for PC, Mac and Linux. PS Vita, iOS and Android are to follow soon.

In this second episode, you will burst out from Paris and London, going on to stunning locations throughout Spanish Catalonia and to deepest Iraq, the birthplace of civilisation. This episode ramps up the drama, as well as the difficulty – and concludes the themes set up in the first episode. Charles is currently writing a Director’s Message which will aim to encapsulate the historical themes that he wanted to convey through the game.

Both in its inception, and its completion, the Serpent’s Curse has been one of the first high profile Kickstarter projects to ship, and the Revolution team are deeply appreciative of the support, generosity, and indeed patience of our fans.

Sweet.  Now I can finish up my globetrotting adventure with George and Nico.

Cool.  I probably won't play it for a few weeks, though.

Jane Jensen on why you should write hot guys in your games.

I’m always a bit perplexed by these questions, though I try doggedly to answer. Perhaps my confusion is that I don’t identify myself as a “female designer”. I am a game designer/writer. My gender is irrelevant, right? Who really cares?

Heh, kind of funny for her to be asked why she never writes strong female characters in her games, that reporter must have been pretty ignorant of who she is.

Its funny how they rip on her for acting like man = **** and woman = vagina is normal, yet it is normal. 99+% of the population fits that description, so its pretty much the definition of normal.

Yet those were popular with the ladies../

Its the BioWare effect, once you start playing it doesn't suspends your disbelief it suspends your IQ.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Not really gaming news-per-se, but recently BioWare made the decision to crackdown on groups that so much as even remotely talk about anything non-BioWare related, so they can create a 'NON-TOXIC-COMMUNITY'. The place is basically a totalitarian-forum now so I'll probably immigrate here full time.

The People's Republic Forum of Best Bioware, eh?

That sounds about right

Aaaaaaaaaaah, my eyes, it burns! What a fugly layout is that? (not that I'm too bothered, but does this mean all the DA:O achievements, screenshots and stuff are going away as well?)

I don't think I've visited, much less posted to the BioWare forums since around the DA2 release and this ugly white sterile corporate layout and attitude certainly aren't going to draw me back...

The assimilation now seems complete, every bit of old BioWare has been stamped out. Let's hold a minute's silence for our fallen comrade.

The thing that I don't get is that the first paragraph is being accused of "[erasing] queer sexuality in men and women and totally [being] a transphobe in [Jensen's] opening paragraph" and yet the opening paragraph is about her experiences: "When I attend a show like GDC or E3, I tend to get a number of questions from the press related to the fact that I have innie genitalia rather than outtie." (emphasis mine)

And that there are people agreeing with the poster is mind boggling seeing that he or she seems to fails at reading comprehension.  I really don't get it.  Add in that people seem to be thinking that Jensen is stating some form of "gospel" about design rather than her preference...it kind of makes me sad that people don't actually seem to want to understand what people post rather than just read what they want to into it and go off on their own tangents.

I mean, sure "the author is dead" but that doesn't mean you had to waylay him in the parking lot like a ninja and put two in the back of his head.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Just a reverse of how it used to be when the anti gay brigade were in power. If you were found out to be gay you werein big trouble. Doesn't make it any more right but let's be honest. Pro or anti gay the vast majority of people want to control everyone else. People simply don't believe in TRUE freedom. They want groupthink because that makes thing easier. True story.

Heh, most of the comments seem to be from ME3MP board regulars. Not surprising, that crowd was always running afoul of the new BioWareBot# mods, but it was quite entertaining to read. People should have seen this coming I think, they started locking challenge threads for being "off topic" last year. I can understand not wanting the BSN to become an outpost of /b/, but shutting down groups for being off topic kinda defeats the whole point. I guess they really are committed to building a bright future for the "Bioware Socialist Network".

I don't know that anybody expected TESO to be bug free and now we have evidence why: Bethesda are hacks.
