What are you playing now?

I am kind of in a gaming hole right now... anyone can suggest a fancy ps3 game which doesn't cost a batzillion moneys anymore? Was looking on amazon a little bit, but it seems like most ps3 games are about 60 to 80€, which I find pure madness. I don't even buy 50€ pc games, why do they think I will be spending over 60€? ...

Do not know what kind of games you were looking into, but I got Yakuza 3 from amazon for 12 GBP and getting NIER for 15 GBP.

Maybe you should look at amazon.uk instead amazon.de.

You should try Valkyria Chronicles.   It's not a JRPG it's a tactical RPG. :p

Tale more Demon's Souls. :D

I'm not clear why people call it any kind of RPG over just a strategy game. Characters don't even have their own levels.

It's a joke from my part, i don't classify it a an RPG either.

Amazon.uk  has a crazy postage&packing price for mainland Europe. So shopto is a better alternative,  then there's  zavvi and game.co.uk.

I am buying from shops on amazon, not amazon directly, so they charge me for PC games about 3 EUR extra which is not bad...

The best PS3 game I bought recently was NBA 2k13. You dont need to be a huge basketball fan, it is just a fantastic rpg where you build your into a superstar.

Just finished DA2, planning on playing some more LOTRO this week.

In Japan they have an odd concept of what constitutes an "RPG." For them it's more a matter of visible statistics and RNG determination of combat results rather than player agency. So long as it's a game that involves visible statistics, it's considered an RPG by most Japanese gamers, as well as western adherents to the JRPG genre. They don't even have to be identifiably linked to actual gameplay mechanics, the numbers just have to be there, and be labeled to qualify. One interesting thing to note is that western RPGs have been gaining a foothold in Japan (primarily in the form of Bethesda games like Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim, which in turn is thanks primarily to Zenimax's exceptional localization efforts with those games by giving a full Japanese audio dub rather than just English subtitles, as is the case with pretty much every other western publisher's efforts in Japan,) that some JRPG publishers actually make "JRPG pride" an advertising focus.

Pretty much any turn-based tactics/strategy game is dubbed a "Simulation RPG" in Japan. Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, etc.

Anyway. Here's what I'm playing: ****ING BLIGHTTOWN

Those who know what I'm talking about know what I'm talking about. Those who don't, well... count yourself amongst the fortunate.

Also TF2. The past month or so of playing mostly Dark Souls and SRW has made me too rusty in it. I need to spend a few hours abusing new/f2p players on 24/7 2fort and valve servers for practice.

That's also how RPG is defined in the USA. Hence Skyrim, Deus Ex, Diablo, the Witcher, and Fable all being RPGs despite very different types and levels of player agency.

I've never seen a definition of RPG that didn't involve two men enter, one man leaves. :p

Blighttown is easy. You go down, then straigh, you jump, drop down, go right and save. You continue on until you reach the end of the way, drop down, go trough a cave, drop down twice, the go left and drop down and repeat that until you reach the bottom. Then you go right and save. You continue right, kill a Red Phantom, continue on to a trader and then continue up to a cave with spider web decor. You go down, summon the phantom, kill the boss, ring the bell and warp to the save. You go right and then up until you reach the exit. All done. :)

After a year off, I thought it was the right time to go back to Morrowind and actually finish my Mage character. I joined House Telvanni and was impressed with both the design and detail of most of the Telvanni wizard towers. Good stuff. Currently ranked as a wizard and just started building my stronghold.

Putting some time into Path of Exile.  Really enjoying the play style and while the actual combat isn't as fluid, the other aspects are more than making up for this negative which can hopefully be worked out with gameplay fixes.

Got a level 47 ranger so far and having fun with questing and running in groups.  Anyone on here playing?

After finishing ME3, I've started getting back into Civ 5.  (I picked the expansion up in the holiday Steam sale.)

I'm liking what I see of the "Gods + Kings" changes so far (although I haven't gotten far enough into a game to see the espionage system).  But, moreso than that, I'm appreciating the year's worth of balance and gameplay patches that have been applied since I last played a game.  Optimal play in early versions of Civ 5 was dominated by wacky tech-beelines and counterintuitive exploits.  ("Research past the halfway point of techs to eliminate them from the possible random techs you get from a Wonder or research agreement!")  The powerful strategies are much more logical now, which makes the game feel more like managing an ancient (or whatever) empire and less like an exercise in spotting arbitrage opportunities.

Devil May Cry 3. The thing I'm loving about this game is that almost every boss fight ends up with me and the boss only at a sliver of each other's health (except Doppelganger, who I completely thrashed) at the end. And then when I hit boss rush I do much better. It's probably one of the best balanced games I've ever played, with lots of room for player ability.

I can't wait to finish it so I can do Devil May Cry 4 again. And I'll have played all the DMC games worth playing in a weeklong marathon. Then maybe some Bayonetta.

I'm playing an old-school RPG on my Android device called 9th Dawn.

Surprised by how much fun it is, even with crap controls.

If you have an Android device, I recommend checking it out.

I'd have liked it more, but ever since I got the Gods + Kings for Civ V I pretty much can't play for more then half an hour without the game crashing out. Which is.. somewhat annoying.

Anyone have any recent knowledge/opinions about the upcoming Nuclear Union by 1C? From screens, description, and a 2012 Gamescom gameplay trailer It sort of looks like a cross between Stalker and (Beth's) Fallout.

Last I heard it was a small squad Fallout Tactics/ JA2 sort of scale thing, inspired and partly made by some of the stalker devs. It's using a modified Men of War engine so it ought to have destructible terrain and the like as well. One to watch, but it could go either way quality wise given it's 1c.

Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll put it on my "keep an eye on" list.
