"Edit: also victims of sexual assault commiting sexual assault is sadly not a surprise, it is a likelihood."

Cry me a river. Next you'll say we should feel sympathy for Weinstein ';cause likely he was also a victim of sexual assault.

Not sure where I said anything about sympathy. I said it was more likely. Explaining an action is not the same as excusing it.

Maybe it's my mental illness (being male) but I'm really having hard time seeing this as sexual assault. The guy was 17. Yes, not legal. But I'd bet $1M he was more than willing. Would YOU have told her no?

I was definitely not ready to deal with a 30-something year old woman when I was 17. I know you are being glib, but I am glad I had my awkward phase with another awkward teenager. I have also never really been able to just enjoy a physical relationship without getting very emotionally involved, so I am guessing everyone is different.

Fjords, submerged tunnels, bridges and roads - the ambitious now-in-motion plan to connect Norway's west coast. I'll probably be a relatively old man when it's done...but the first stage of it will apparently be done in 6-7 years, and will reduce the travel time between Bergen (where I live) and Stavanger (where most of my family lives) by 40ish minutes or so. Anything helps, because the current travel time at around 5 hours is far too long when you take the distance into consideration.

Hopefully they're taking sea level rise into account for those floating structures. It'd eventually be a problem for the bridges, but I guess they'll, um, cross that bridge, when it becomes a problem.

Fake. the earth is flat. Don't believe the lies!

Eh, pretty impressive picture there tho.

No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.

I'm not sure what is more appalling. The fact that this job exists. That it pays what it does. Or the fact that it's actually needed! I think I'll go with the last one.

Well Hurlshot if you ever get tired of teaching there are other options. The summers won't be near as nice as what you're used to though!

The first pic of the gold figurine is from the year 500 AD and is the first known depiction of a Danish water deity, sometimes referred to as a water troll, whose name translates to, and I kid you not, 'Floppylongtits'

Awesome, it's like something straight out of Witcher 3. Beat that. I dare you.

Sad that it is needed, but they definitely deserve the pay. Although Waste Management has always been a pretty well paid career in this country. I learned that from the sitcom Roc.

I've never been homeless. I have no concept what that might be like. But even if I were I just don't think I'd say "what the hell I'll just take a s--t right here". Maybe dignity is the last thing to go.

This reminded me that I'd read some stories not long ago about Iceland having a problem with tourists pooping wherever they're at while traveling.

That's on top of the tourists camping in gardens, in bird watching sheds and doing crazy things like climbing out onto dangerous rocks above falls to take a selfie.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Ill shovel s**t ALL DAY LONG for $185,000/year.

well, take home before taxes is $71k, and in san francisco that is enough to pay for a nice cardboard box in an alley in the tenderloin district.  am being hyperbolic, but not by much.

HA! Good Fun!

Sony Aibo Robot Dog is coming. With a $2900 price tag. Of course compared the the cost of caring for a real dog that is pittance.

100% of public places should have this technology. Imo. And we should ape China and strap one of these bad boys to every single law enforcement personnel.

With a shoulder-mounted selfie stick mounting a secondary face recognition apparatus just to really be sure no funny business is pulled.
