  1. Not only are the descriptions unclear or inaccurate, the rules aren't even consistent. I could probably give you 10 wizard spells with durations unaffected by Intellect, given that I've seen about 5 and only have level 4 spells so far.
  2. How would this be implemented? Everyone you meet is going to use the pronoun you look like at first, just like in the real world. So add conversations with your party members that change the pronoun they use for you? I could see haircut options. Enable all of them for both sexes. There is no gender-restricted clothing or even gendered clothing (dresses, suits, etc.), as far as I know.
  3. Right, however you imagine the new casting system to work instead of memorization. Magic mojo being harmlessly discharged into the ether or whatever. Blowing your magical load.
  4. That's new. Previously, interrupted spells just took longer to cast. Now you can forget them by being hit?
  5. I've never liked that high-level chants take longer to chant. You have to choose between nicer chants or more frequent invocations on a class that is already a snooze fest. Find another way to keep low-level chants relevant.
  6. It takes much longer than a day to develop bedsores, and the typical movement during sleep prevents them. It only happens to people who can't move, and even then nurses can mitigate or prevent them.
  7. Thanks for making this thread so I don't have to stand up and admit it alone. I haven't finished it, either. For me it was just that the story didn't grab me. I backed POE2 anyway, and I've been doing POE1 a bit more, trying to be less of a completionist, and I have been enjoying it in shorter play sessions. Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out in a few days, though, so I might be in trouble.
  8. I prefer having encounters balanced by designers with the knowledge that I have not cast a bunch of buffs. The fewer unknowns they have to consider, the better they can do their jobs. There should also be an opportunity cost with these spells. "Do I cast a buff, debuff, damage spell? Think fast, here come the bad guys! Oooh, choices!" That's more fun than spamming buffs before a fight. I remember doing it and then quick-saving in Baldur's Gate. But if I want to open the fight with a fireball from just outside agro range, I feel like I should be able to. If you really think it's OP Obsidian, you could have a long casting time send out an agro pulse with a bit more range, representing them hearing the incantation after a second or two.
  9. Of course a character who is honest can occasionally lie, a mean person can occasionally help someone, etc. Doing that won't appreciably change a character's disposition anyway. But following a god or an order is done with religious conviction. And, as has been pointed out, it is the reason they are granted divine power. If you are joining a cult that works against the will of your god, you should be stripped of divine magic entirely. For munchkins who suck at being munchkins, maybe. Munchkins generally want to use their resources to increase their power, not to offset penalties they wouldn't have to deal with at all if they had simply chosen another build to begin with. I guess I'm using a broader definition.
  10. The only problem I see with preventing combos is that some people may want particular talents from a priest deity and paladin order, and maybe they don't care about the disposition bonuses/penalties. Still, perhaps they should be prevented anyway. Like a dungeon master enforcing some semblance of role playing. Also, I would probably delete the Untroubled Faith talent. It's a total munchkin move. You have to do mental acrobatics to try to justify it. Paladins are traditionally held to a strict code, anyway.
  11. Some combinations may be unlikely roleplaying choices, but there aren't any that should be outright forbidden, are there? Goldpact Knights worshippers of Berath have the most synergy, with both favoring rational and stoic. Darcozzi Paladini and followers of Magran favor being clever, but the Darcozzi favor being passionate while Magran followers condemn it. Kind Wayfarers condemn being deceptive and cruel, while followers of Skaen favor it. Followers of Skaen also condemn the Kind Wayfarers' benevolence but don't care one way or the other about them being passionate.
  12. I would say Zahua, Maneha, and any other non-tank melee characters are difficult to keep alive or keep their health from deteriorating rapidly without tremendous micromanagement, even in many trash mob battles. Or maybe I am totally wrong, but it is difficult enough that I only kept them in party for a few battles, then benched them forever.
  13. The POE1 wizard is a fireworks cannon? You've got single-target and area-effect damage (complete with friendly fire damage) crowd control, debuffs, and self buffs. Pretty much the Baldur's Gate mage, except you can use armor and a sword if you want. Where is this perception coming from? Did those spells just not seem worthwhile?
  14. Camping supplies were kind of controversial. There have been threads on this. A lot of people had no problem with them, but basically they are designed to make resting too frequently inconvenient, and it led to some unintended consequences and rubbed some players the wrong way. How can we limit resting without hitching it to a limited resource? Another game I have played handled it this way: Resting at the "correct" intervals adds an XP bonus. Rest too soon, and you get little or no bonus. This is also true if you wait too long, for some reason. I was thinking about something else. What if you could only rest in a dungeon if you were tired or badly injured? This would be different from the fatigue debuff from strenuous activity; just a timer.
  15. Hasn't Sawyer said he's not really a fan? Or is my memory making that up? I mean, he's also said he doesn't like game systems with attribute scores or classes, so take that for what it's worth.
  16. Many times I have found myself wishing for 7 spots in POE1, but I think multiclassing is going to help. I'm cautiously open-minded.
  17. Wait... there wasn't a dwarf companion in POE1 either, was there? Edit: nvm sagini
  18. Not being able to sort by region or see companion quests in a separate category is... annoying. The fact we get a separate category for "tasks" for no good reason in spite of these omissions makes it a little more annoying. But the thing that makes it really unacceptable is that even the quest entries themselves often do not say where they are from or where you should go. Some don't even say they are all the way over in the White March. Mildred wants me to talk to Hammond about her problem? Cool, I'll go find him after I find an exceptionally talented cipher to play back the conversation, because I don't remember who that is. I hope he offers bulk pricing for soul readings, because I have 10 more for him after that. I realize the Infinity engine games had a journal that was really just an expanding text document, but that is not a part of the experience we need to recapture. Seriously though, nothing but love over here, I just want to convey why this matters. You can do way better.
  19. The important thing to me is how it works. I don't like the split "real time vs quest turns" system at all. Turns are finite, pressuring you to metagame, and if you don't complete quests fast enough your barracks payroll will bankrupt you.
  20. But I guess that's the idea of making it a high-tier reward rather than an addable extra. I mean, I don't know how many people at the $250 level on the fence about the $500 level are going to make the jump as a result, but I guess. https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=274#updates
  21. The moon godlike looks like a chanter/druid. But where's the token dwarf? Passed out drunk under the table?
  22. I just know I wanted to play a moon godlike but found the glowy head to be too distracting. I would like a loose-fitting hood.
