Gog or steam for an offline PC
GOG. GOG gives you the installer and you are set. Then you can download the patches when you want. With Steam, you need to log in before you can even use the offline mode, the updates are automated unless you disable them, and whenever I tried to install a game from a backup Steam decided I had to download the whole thing again.

Any snacks/drinks lined up for Pillars?
Out of snacks, but I've got the it covered anyway. I'm going to bake a chocolate cake and a pizza.

PLEASE let's use the correct game terminologies!
I propose πoe. Pie is never wrong.
- New screenshots! Things are going to get a little... awesome!

[Merged] Please make a console version!
Can't we have a turn based version for tablet instead? With an hexagonal grid. Episodes where you focus on a specific characters story, or gameplay? ... Hell, just give me a chess game where Chris Avellone stick figures bash each other.

Why can't we have a "normal" beta?
True, with a caveat: what developers consider "almost finished content" can vary greatly according to the project and project structure. Alpha\Beta are more "guidelines" than actual rules. Pre-pre alpha however would probably be "programmers, game designers and producer sitting at a table deciding the game engine to use".

Why Don't Wizards Have Summoning Spells?
An in universe explanation could be that something in their soul magic makes the summoning unstable and unpredictable. The game should include summoning scrolls and then if a wizard use those, you'd get a random effect: - a wheel of cheese - the summoned creature starts to vibrate and explodes (like a bloody sausage) - the summoned creature is incorporeal and "poof" away after few seconds - the summoned creature explodes in a "poof" of poisonous spores - a scrap of paper with a stick figure on it - a black rock - etc...

Journalism and sexism in the games industry
Dude wears fap material at work in office. People tell him it's not appropriate for that office. Scumbags whine "censorship" and declare him a hero. Same people are now calling the women (scientists and non) that objected to the shirt "****" "bitches", inviting them to kill themselves and shut up. Sounds familiar enough? Oh right, why GG is involved? Because they made themselves involved.

Next Backer Patch 10/22/2014
Talking of updates. I love how you are answering to every post in the bugs support forum, and I believe it's an incentive to beta testers. Still, a small suggestion. A colored dot (or a color blind friendly symbol) near the thread title could tell the readers the status of the issue (e.g. green=reported, red=need extra data, yellow=wtf why would you do that).
- What are you playing now?

Update #86: Polish, Feedback, Bugfixing, and Goodies
:clap clap: Thank you for the localization. And for working so hard. Please don't kill yourself with the crunches, ok? But now that you have time don't forget to animate the grass. Grass physic. Seasons. Beautiful golden wheat fields in the wind! Still, don't listen to every whim of your backers. Unless it's my idea. :whispers: "animaaated graaass"

[Bug?] Steam library page fails to display "recent news" list.
I can't edit, so please just ignore the previous post. I was browsing the forum, and I did miss this was in the PoE beta. I don't know if the PoE news page on Steam is bugged or not. I see the news page related to PoE as a empty space, but I'm not in the beta. http://store.steampowered.com/news/?appids=317120

[Bug?] Steam library page fails to display "recent news" list.
When I click a game in the Library I see everything as usual: hours, friends activity, achievements, recent news, screenshots. There is nothing amiss. I'm using the 2 October beta build.

Combat XP - What Just Happened..?
Voted 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Not sure about traps/lockpicks. Bestiary, only as long as it's a small xp bonus. I'm not playing the beta, so I don't have a precise idea of how the bestiary works at this moment. What I'd like too see it's for the bestiary entries to unlock combat bonus. You know more about the monsters, you should be able to fight them better. And you could get poison/antidotes/potions/crafting recipes. Extra encounters "you can now track this kind of creature...". The bestiary page should be unlocked progressively, to allow different reward tiers. Stuff you could need if you fight often, or fight often certain creatures, negligible if you don't.

Another comment on the exp system
I'm fine with the current system. I don't want to get xp from combat. Take this as my answer to any present, past and future thread on the argument.

[issue] Problems of storing information in registry and AppData folders
I periodically do the image backup of my operative system partition, so the bloating of apps data is unwelcome. I wish games would let me decide where to store their saves, instead of automatically dump them in My Documents. I'd rather keep them in the installation folder. Especially if the mods folder ends up in the same location of the savegames.

Update #68: ART!
I guess they will use something like that to improve the sense of prospective. But they are still in prealpha, so the special effects will come later? On the right side, a quick and dirty photoshop simulation of the gradient effect (35% opacity). Slightly different saturation. Increased, because the gradient made the trolls too grey.

When will the title drop 'project'?
Pillars of Eternity could be the name of the backers portal only, like "Ranger Center" for Wasteland 2.

Update #63: Stronghold!
The stronghold sounds exciting! My guess is that repealing the attacks will affect prestige/security, but could participating to the defense also offer the chance to obtain something unique? A direct reward to make you say "wow, I'm glad I interrupted that quest for this". It doesn't need to be equipment, even a token for extra guards in a future attack, a nickname by a certain faction, a tip for a quest. And a request: please, no magic psychic reports "you are attacked!" while I'm 8 floors underground in a dungeon.
