  1. Oh God. 1. Fallout2 - while i probably enjoyed Fallout1 and NV a tad more, the scope and flexibility of F2 is simply amazing. Not the most gripping plot but a game, which gives you space to create a character you want and has systems to react to it. 2. Deus Ex - while for the most part i would put it into Immersive Sim[/b] genre, the clever reactivity of the first 1/4 of the game is a glimpse of what RPGs could have been - a game with wide range of skills, implimented in a more physical way than dice rolls, with game choices being organically made through gameplay. If you think you can do it, you probably can, and game has a reaction planned for it. Unfortunately, this incredible design gets flattened as game goes by and your aliegences are being more thrust upon you. 3. Gothic 2 - another glimpse into what could have been. A very Euro jank RPG - incredibly fresh and clever design often paired with subpar execution and awkward implementation. Still, no one does open world like Gothic1&2.
  2. Do you still get an achievement for beating the game if you import a dead Watcher? I mean you should get to ending slides.
  3. I only recognise people when I see them from a very specific angle. To compensate, I recognise them even if they grow a beard and change carnation.
  4. All I really want right now is some better UI and organisation so I won’t bounce off if it so hard.
  5. What happened to his rapier? It's looking a tad.... shrivelled. He’s past his prime, and beyond help from Elardh Golah.
  6. I mean by all the logic the character should be dead. We know companions will be dead... why not PC? I am curious if they have a special ending slide which players out if you import such save. If you decide to play WM2 before Deadfire comes out, please, copy the current ending save somewhere as I am curious if they have something special prepared.
  7. I see an “issue” of missing some companion interaction to be the same as picking a class, aligning with faction, not being able to pick every option in conversation tree at the same time or not being able to use all items at once. You just have to pick something. RPGs are about defining characters, and whom you hang out the most (character and gameplay wise) I see as one of those choices.
  8. I like that a lot. There is no delaying that PoEs are stagnant RPG. Its not even a criticism - they aim to recapture style of a 20 years old series of games. cRPG could be so much more and interesting. While Bethesda’s games are not to my liking it is not gameplay itself I dislike. I would certainly like to see a radical RPG from Obsidian.
  9. http://versusevil.com/games/pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire_c-r/?age-verified=929428c2d2 First portrait revealed, yet no code with it. Sad.
  10. Yup, same as first game. Entrances to buildings are still a clickable pieces of background art.
  11. I am mostly interested, if Obs will use mechanics for some cool quest design/storytelling. New stealth/pickpocketing, faction and relationship system could potentially lead to some cool interactivity with companions and quest resolutions. I am also looking forward to free map exploration with hostile ships and such. Hopefully some cool stuff to be found. And you know the usual - story, characters, usual stuff.
  12. What about narrated bits? And what if you disable text? You draw attention to static background and not interacting characters? I will take screen of text, over Bioware face and PoE doesn’t have even that.
  13. The thing with unflexible path is that your relationship with character would get heavily defined for a get go. I feel like doing a weak relationship would be worse than not doing it at all, when compared to companions with the relationship system. There is nothing cheap about companions. Josh said that creating character arc is the big, time consuming part of writing the companion. I would also have little ingame interaction than have a poor quiality content aka. BB:EE or mods. In past he compared sidekicks to Minsc - cool characters to tag along but dont develop and dont have character arc.
  14. I would pay 25 more dollars then regular price for a true fallout 2 turn based pillars or deadfire. However, thats not the issue. They just cheesed out of the problem instead of actually fixing it. One character might not be worth that much but cutting content to fix an issue should be the last step not the first.I wouldn’t mind a turnbased RPG either, but it’s not a turnbased title. Even so turn based RPGs tend to have less characters under your control (fallouts1, divinitites4) and taking 10 minutes to go through a turn can be daunting even if choices are limited, So without changing the game’s genre, what would be considered by you a not “cheesed out” of the problem. Beoroer suggested reducing active skills as that is what is making PoE more hectic that IE which is point&click and see number roll. No content was cut as far as we know.
  15. Well, you can't rotate isometric view. To make it rotatable you need to create full 3d world. and then you run into an issue of obstructing view, which means that you can't ignore it. I didn't play Exanima though every game I can think of which was top down and was full 3d suffered from it. Even if they stop doing prerendered background in the future, I would still prefer if they stick to locked isometric view - it just makes game easier to play and I don't see an appeal in being able to move the screen upside down.
  16. Would do the complete opposite? Make exporation and combat more of a pain in the butt? Frankly, if you go for the top down perspective, the game should be playable without flipping the entire world upside down all the time. I got Dvinity: Dragon Commander for free a while ago and booted it up recently. Wow, the camera might make me not boot it up ever again.
  17. KOTOR had this, so I assume the same here.Yeah, personally I felt like those “you recruit everyone but not everyone goes with you” works only with ships. KOTOR did it first, from what I canremember, and it was great, the same with ME. In other titles it always feels like bunch of people tag along and then sit on their asses for the majority of the adventure.
  18. Deadfire might do a better job encouraging switching companions, as you get to choose your party every time you embark. It was the case when leaving Caed Nua, but they would you go there in the first place?
  19. Various ships types varying in stats and features (speed, boarding, evasion, firepower focused). How they look, I don’t really care that much.
  20. Stacking is annoyingly confusing.
  21. Ah, ok. I tend to leave bounties, dragons and arch mages till the very end. That’s probably why.
  22. I suspect there won't be anything until the game release and they will just grand a code to get the DLCs...or we wait for mods. If they really started working on it after hearing complaints it might take a while. If I will keep getting over cutthroat Cosmo at this rate I should not even care about it by release. Seems like an odd oversight. I find it hard to believe they didn’t thing of gog users when setting this whole thing up.
