Is that normal?
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Awwww crap. Good thing I read that. I started to download the game and I was 30% but I was suspicious that its only 12GB. Turns out I was redownloading beta. Well, better finding out today, rather than tomorrow mornign.

Is that normal?
A thread to express our panic and soothe those in need. Starting with moi: My fig backer copy on GoG has been acting odd recently (using Galaxy client). It's "not available" tag disappeared, and just now the actual game disappeared as well. I assume it will be reborn in an hour and half, but I was wondering if other goggers experienced the same thing.

Weird habits when breaking open and starting a new eagerly awaited game
Wormerine replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Saving up tomorrow for Deadfire. Kinda regretting agreeing to see Infinity War on Wednesday evening, but it has to be done at some point for the sake of small talks. Some coffee and lots of tea. I don’t snack. There is no way my cats won’t work hard to distract me. One in particular choose s mousepad as his preferable nap place, if I don’t pay attention to him for too long.

How will you ROLEPLAY your character in pillars 2?
Wormerine replied to Riftis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Importing orlan cipher merchant from Old Valia. He tends to be good, but favours good deals over charity, always tries to think of far reaching consequences. Suffered quite a bit because of being orlan - tends to stick to his own race, when given a chance. Distrusts humans. As far as Gods, I am still not 100% sure what he thinks. The revelation changed things quite a bit. He doesn’t believe in good human nature too much, so Gods aren’t that bad of an idea. If there will be a chance he might try leverage his knowledge to strike a good deal with Gods.

Two questiobs about savegame import
Wormerine replied to a post in a topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Sure, but you might prefer certain outcomes more than others. If you are really curious what will happen if..., you can make this scenario happen. If I were planning to do one playthrough only, I would regret suppressing Iselmyr, or not kidnapping orlan baby. As is, I will leave those for later playthoughs.

Two questiobs about savegame import
Wormerine replied to a post in a topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Importing save imports choices only. You will be creating character from cratch anyway. Backgrounds do get reactivity. If you recreate your character and give him “Deadfire” background you will get the reactivity. Whom you played in PoE1 won’t matter. Companions who are dead, stay dead. If Eder/Aloth/Pallegina died they won’t join you for the sequel. Luckily for you, there is save editor if you want to create a “perfect save” or you can choose one of the premade saves. Saves are stored in the same place for both platforms. You should have no problems.

Question: How many GB is the game?
Wormerine replied to GeraltOfRivia03's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Wouldn’t 2d background be more space consuming than rendering 3D? Rendering is heavier on the machine, but high definition imagine takes tons of space. That’s why games which use prerendered cinematic tend to be a huge download. Combine it with full VO and actual game ending files and big instal is not surprising.

Which D&D Edition Is This Game Based On?
Wormerine replied to Reposter's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)PoE1 is inspired by Infinity Games, which were isometric real time interpretations of 2nd and 3nd D&D. However, Deadfire uses its own ruleset, adjusted to be better suited to cRPG. A lot of mechanics should be familiar, but how they work and are calculated will be different. Especially in Deadfire, which rather than “inspired by Infinity Games” I would describe as a “sequel improving upon a game which was inspired by IE games”.

Any news about Scavenger Hunt and GOG.com Edition?
Wormerine replied to LostHero's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Maybe that’s what they are planning! Maybe they said it won’t be ready for release, because we won’t have all the codes for the release!

Game comes out tomorrow!
Wormerine replied to Valmy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I would imagine we can download it with release. I really could use it to release an hour earlier. I have to leave home half an hour before I can start a download. Precious 3 hours of downloading lost!https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/to?iso=20180508T10&p0=137&msg=Deadfire%E2%80%99s+released+upon+the+world.&font=cursive&csz=1

Any news about Scavenger Hunt and GOG.com Edition?
Wormerine replied to LostHero's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Maybe they will still be releasing them with weekly gifs... we still have 2 more companions and 4 sidekicks. That’s 6. We need 2 more. That would be cruelt though. But maybe that way steam sellouts won’t get access to Pirate Cosmo before noble GOGgers. :D

Pillars of Eternity II Review Thread
Wormerine replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)There are couple sites/individuals who can influence whenever I buy a game. I tend to believe that you have to know the reviewer to be able to have a use of their review. I probably won't check reviews indepth, until I am pretty deep into Deadfire - I am buying game anyway, so I will be checking reviews to see what some people think of it, compared to my own experience, not trying to inform my purchase. I generally ignore user reviews. I don't find them useful, beside some potential technical issues.

Game looks incredibly easy
Wormerine replied to molotov.'s topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)May I inquire why do you claim that it is an issue with health system (a fan of endurance/health for the record). I didn't watch the stream (spoilers!) but from what you describe it doesn't seem like an issue with health system. The only thing that old system did was force player to take a rest every couple fights - which is not a difficulty. At most its a bother if you need to run back to town for supplies, though from my experience those were generously given to the player easily allowing for one rest per map. It was very unlikely to run out of endurance in one encounter. So my question to you is: are encounters themselves easier, or does the streamer simply rest less? If multitude of healing is indeed a problem, then it's casting system's fault. You can cast all the healing spells you have every encounter. Again, in my experience in beta, it comes at cost of not casting other very beneficial spells. Consecrated Ground is super good if you hold your ground, but many enemies had deadly AoE spells which would force me to move (or move me around with various pull/push abilities). Really? Die in PoE1? If you take a lot of damage in PoE1 and not rest you will die. If you take a lot of damage in PoE2 and not rest you will die. I died once in PoE1 in my 3 playthroughs. I died many more times in Deadfire beta... though mostly to traps.

Reroll companions classes, builds and subclasses
Wormerine replied to nemesis205bw's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)So hire mercenaries. The point of companions is that they are created by devs, with defined character, story and background which comes with defined stats and classes. There was an idea to allow you to multiclass them however you want (the base class would be defined but you could choose whatever you want as your second class) but with modifications to how multiclassing works it was simplified due to technical limitations as such. Maybe modding will allow you to do what you want?
