  1. As people said before: from what was said achievements will be implimented, but as many people complained about not being able to plat PoE easily (I mean, isn’t the point of achievements to be challenging? Odd people who want badges of honour without putting any effort into it) achievements won’t include such creazy stuff as triple crown. From what I understand, they will impliment those later on, as in-game challenges. Oddly enough I got the “backer” achievement for the first game, even though I didn’t back it.
  2. It’s indeed really odd for the devs in this day and age to try to improve their game’s design. Isn’t selling the same thing over and over again good enough? Why do they need to try to make their games better? It’s as if they care about their games and audience, or something. Really really odd.
  3. Ah. yes. emdurance/health shall be missed. I still prefer current resting system over old "supplies".
  4. I don’t think there was talk about having a higher difficulty than PotD. I would consider two things when talking about potential challenges: 1) Berath’s Blessing - we don’t know what modifiers will B.B. provide. Early on there was talk about modifiers which could make game both easier or more diffficult. Perhaps there will be some neat features there for masochists. 2) Level scaling - one of the issues with low difficulty of PoE was how easy it was to outlevel content. While PotD in PoE could be challenging for most part you would roll over your enemies because of XP float. For people wanting a more constant challenge, level scaling might provide a better experience.
  5. I will have a cipher and probably a pure wizard in my regular party. Might add a priest/Druid - we will see. If main game is anything like beta, even a single caster in Deadfire will probably cast more than a party full of casters in PoE1. But then again, I am someone who sits on resources whenever I can afford it. IMO casters are way more fun in Deadfire, but that’s just me.
  6. It is not amazing, but it never has been. I won’t be 100% sure until I play a full game, but I believe Deadfire’s resting to be the best implimantation of it in this style of game (IE, PoE1). While food was powerful in PoE1 I had to go out of my way to use it - I am sure Solo runners feel differently, but I beat twice the game without eating food, as it was fiddly to use and not necessary. I like the new system, as food is valuable and you will use it in regular intervals. It might also encourage me better not to rest unless good food is very very easy to find. Feeding with hardtack doesn’t seem appealing too me - I will certainly go for bonuses, giving failure (being knocked out in combat) meaning it never really had before. As the same food will be used both for crew and your team I doubt of good food will be such a valuable resource as I hope it would be. We will see. It’s not perfect - resting system still seems to be there, just because it always has been there, but it seems better implimented than before.
  7. How dare they send copies of games to reviewers before us! I feel betrayed! On a more serious note, I wish Deadfire were released this Tuesday - a fairly relaxed week incoming.
  8. What i dont get is the idea that If money wasn’t spent on full VO, another feature would complete itself. I would certainly prefer more fleshed out sidekicks or even one full companion instead of full VO. I would even prefer a more nuanced ship2ship combat, or more subclasses, better resolution to the resolve problem. But money won’t solve all those things. If writers couldn’t fit figuring out what interactions would various companions and sidekick have into their schedule throwing money at them wouldn’t make this time appear. Same with design. Hiring extra workforce might not work out, as i doubt anyone would like to see an outsider write a banter to existing companions, or slap/modify existing systems. Being upset that sidekicks don’t have banter because devs specifically didn’t say they won’t is absurd. You really can’t hold people responsible for not disproving idea someone made in their own mind. Sure, it wasn’t clear how much content sidekicks will have but I imagine at that time even Obsidian didn’t exactly know - they knew what role they were to fil. Keep in mind that as Josh said, companions are one of the last things to be written in the game, my guess is that sidekicks got as much content as they could fit in. It’s no surprising that quest writing and companion writing took priority.
  9. I am not particularly attached to IP itself (steampunk was cool, and all chamber quartet OST was good) but I would oppose a more systemic RPG in a vein of fallout or Arcanum. Divinity1 filled this gap to some extend. We will see what the secret project will be - it might scratch the itch is some way or form.
  10. I suppose it depends on what you consider bad. I found ME3 to be pretty bad. Sure, I can point to many worse games, but ME3 came after two excellent instalments. It’s not that it is simply worse than what came before, but it has good elements only because it is using stuff, which worked before. It felt like a rushed sequel, with more bugs, worse design, worse writing, flat characters, weird inconsistency in tone. A forgettable title overall, but it also happens to act as a finale to a series I enjoyed a whole lot, which makes me dislike its existence. One can ignore a poor standalone episode but a mistep in a direct sequel messes things up in general. I have replayed ME1 not so long ago, and I got annoyed knowing how poorly conflicts and characters will get eventually resolved. Andromeda seemed like a dangerous idea that could suck me back in into ME. Luckily, from what I hear it wasted an opportunity to make ME cool again, and just retreads old paths with a mediocare result.
  11. From what I understand is that if you leave game dormant and release big expansion for it, it is fairly unlikely that a huge chunk of players will return to it. Nowadays companions who go for big expansions still lead with bunch of smaller ones - Witcher3 release bunch of tiny, free DLC, Civilization releases Civs, XCOM released couple DLC before WotC. At least, that’s how I heard it explained multiple times.
  12. Unfortunately mistreatment of women is still a widespread problem, even among more “civilized” countries.Umm... ok?Oh, come on! It’s funny. I should really go to sleep.
  13. Unfortunately mistreatment of women is still a widespread problem, even among more “civilized” countries.
  14. There is no "real" reason for them to not be present tho, except for gameplay purposes/see above.I am trying to wrap my head around this statement. 1) It is a game. 2) game is revolving around gameplay. 3) gameplay is tuned to be played with a party of 5 - combat, relationships, scripted interactions. 4) there is no reason not to have everyone in your party. I feel like I am missing couple important bulletpoints between 3) and 4).
  15. I am 100% sure that in one of the streams Josh used an example of Minsc to describe an idea of a sidekick. Still, not something I would use against him - it wasn’t a promise, statement, just example used when discussing a concept. I don’t care enough to dig for th exact quote
  16. Details about sidekicks are disappointing yet expected. They deliver exactly on what they promised - keeping against them that sidekicks wont include something they never said they will, is IMO not reasonable. Comparing them to Minsc is misleading, though - it seems that they will be closer to Mazzy. As far as complaints regarding Obs investing money in VO instead of better fleshed out sidekicks - voice actors won’t write the lines. Extra money won’t expand what writers can do. Hiring extra ones might do a trick, but for some reasons they decided against it. With smaller expansion size it seems unlikely that sidekicks will get some extra love after release. I am afraid, those four chaps will spend most of the adventure on my boat.

  19. But White March and Heart of Stone were very much DLC...
  20. There isn’t really much difference as DLCs are expansions and expansions are downloadable. Some people use those terms to describe different types of content. “expansions” often describe a bigger chunk of content, which significantly modifies base game or adds new campaign - Starcraft: Broodwar, Throne of Bhaal, XCOM2 War of the Chosen, Civ expansions. Types of content which made sense being sold when internet and downloading wasn’t a thing - it wouldn’t be a worthwhile effort to release a disc with a single Civ for civilization2. DLC often refers to a more modern type of expansion which became popular with internet - smaller, multiple chunks of content. While White March were two seperate DLCs forming an expansion, those three ones seem to fit better into a DLC area. EDIT. A good example of DLC vs expansion is XCOM2, which has both: 4 pieces of DLC: resistance warrior pack, anarchy’s children, alien hunters and shen’s last gift. And one expansion: War of the Chosen.
  21. “Commander” is a naval term, no? Perhaps an extended ship system, or some unique ship battle scenarios. According to a short wiki search commander=captain.
  22. Fig crowdfunding > “Why can’t we preorder season pass! We all know you will do expansions, so let us buy something worthwhile!” > Early Bird DLC Addon Deadfire Preorder > “What are the DLC exactly! You ask us to pay for it, yet give no information!” DLC info released > “How dare you revealing the DLC! You are greedy! You cut content from the main game! Damn you!”

  24. I would be most excited for a $40 expansion in a year or so after release, but I will take what I can get. Shame that WM didn’t work out, as it was an excellent addition.
  25. When starting new game you can: 1) import endgame PoE1 save 2) choose one of presets 3) create your own in PoE2 endsave creator! In all of those you create your character from scratch.
