  1. Mage Slayer is very circumstancial but very good against enemies who make a lot of use of their abilites. You can completely lockdown bosses or other annoying guys like Engwithan Saints and prevent them from using their special abilites. But in multiclass with somebody who buffs himself Mage Slayer is not good because of the reduced durations. Did somebody test if Spiritshift also gets reduced?
  2. Yes, but with a shield and smart stat setting you can raise your defenses quite a bit - and then some with passives. Abilities that interrupt on graze are rare. Out of my head I only know Knockdown. There are also the resolve inspirations Resolute and Courageous which will give you one layer of Concentration per 6 sec. Couragerous completely prevents interrupts. Resolute can already be gained from Holy Meditation (priest PL 2) for example and Courageous can be gained by Lay on Hands/Hands of Light (PL 3 paladin).
  3. The MIG bonus is multiplicative in Deadfire. So every damage roll you do will get affected by your dmg mods like crit (+25% weapon base damage), overpenetration (+30% base) and so on and THEN the MIG bonus comes aorund and multiplies with that. In PoE is was simply an additive bonus. That's why MIG is much more important now. Imagine a Rogue with Sneak Attack and Backstab (+150%), doing a crit and he has 20 MIG (*1.6 dmg mod). Backstab's bonus of 150% gets multiplied by 1.6 and is worth 240% all of a sudden. Sneak Attack is pumped from 50% to 80%, the crit does +40% instead of +25% and so on. More INT will lead to a longer paralyze and also a bigger cone. And also a longer linger time of your phrases!
  4. In Deadfire you can simply type a letter like "A" and then hit <tab> and the console will cycle through all commands that start with that letter. This way you can discover all commands if you wish so if you don't know what else to do. Usually I just type "giv" or "add" or "att" andthen hit <tab> - it makes testing stuff out so fast it's a breeze. Thanks Obsisian for that new and decent feature. It was also in PoE, but it didn't work that well.
  5. I liked Icewind Dale I and also II pretty much. Icewind Dale II is also in the list of the 100 top RPGs of all time at number 76 (while BG is at 35 and BGII at 3 if I remember correctly).
  6. And dudes and dudettes! The quotes! Please crop the quotes! Holy Lord of Fruitless Debates - this is so much nesting I fear we will see some weird eggs soon...
  7. There are some high level ones that are quite tough (and good), for example that little magma blob. And for tough fights you want to spread your low level figurines over the whole party to spam 3, four or even 6 of them right at the start. They may be frail and can do no harm but they surely buy you a lot of precious time and block movement. Of course this doesn't work in a solo game. Right! Because of the same reasons mind control (confusion/charm/dominate) is so powerful in PoE: you basically will have the same effects plus one (or more) enemy less to care about.
  8. Well if you don't get hit a lot because of high defenses and have Concentration then it's not too bad. You can also have multiple layers of concentration (Combat Focus + buff for example).
  9. Just make sure that both priests take Inspiring Radiance - it stacks with itself. Besides that I would maybe go with one Cat and one Boar Druid, one melee Wizard with summoned weapons and one melee Priest of Skaen with Firebrand or Berath with Tidefall, one Blast Wizard and one arquebus priest.
  10. Actually it will be amazing for Beckoner since they tend to have a larger number of weaker creatures so the extra penetration may be just what they need to break a DR threshold. They only have less health. The rest is the same.
  11. The cast of Mirrored Image is instantaneous and has no recovery - it also doesn't take away spell uses. It's not that bad compared to the rest - they are just all equally bad compared to the drawback you experience.
  12. Based on the title I would have put any bet that this thread was opened by SonicMage117.
  13. Of course. 2 uses per encounter per spell tier is easier to balance than 4 uses (or even 5 or 6) per rest. If you can't or refuse to understand why then you are beyond my reach. Besides that nearly all casting times and recovery times for spells have been prolonged so that spamming nukes in quick succession is not possible anymore. Actually in the beta (which I played/still pay and you didn't/don't) most spellcasters feel balanced or even underwhelming compared to most martial builds. It also feels zero like Dragon Age Inquisition or anything like that. But if you insist to play the Rumpelstiltskin...
  14. I liked the idea and toyed around a bit with it. It is a viable pick but not overly powerful. It's pretty versatile though. Firebrand per se is not very powerful and I would not recommend it in its current state, but I found out the following: Choose Scion of Flame + Heart of The Storm (useful anyways because of your elemental spells), shift into Storm Blight and do Flames of Devotion: you will have +2 PEN because Blight's attacks are stirm based and FoD is fire based. Pretty cool. Also the jump gets that bonus. If you only attack one enemy both (initial attack und jump) will hit him. Unfortunately with normal attacks under Eternal Devotion you ony get the bonus from Heart of the Storm. It also doesn't help to pick Widstrike Burn instead of Shock. A Bleak Walker/Fury gets +3 PEN from Scion of Flame, Spirit of Decay and Heart of the Storm when executing FoD. So all in all you can make this into a decent spellcaster with healing powers and good weapon damage. Too bad White Flames would trigger twice with dual wielding. THe jump of the Blight form unfortunately doesn't trigger White Flames a second time.
  15. Conversions do stack, but they don't get added but are rolled one after the other. So they rather get multiplied. If you have a conversion of 50% and another of 50% as well as the Upgrade of Zealous Focus you will have an overall chance of 76% to convert. Without Exhalted Focus it's 75%... not worth it.
  16. Paladin/Priest is a solid multiclass combo - also because of Spiritual Weapon + FoD/Enduring Flames which leads to several strikes with +80% lash (FoD) and lots of attacks with 70% (Eduring Flames) and makes a really decent damage dealer. Good supporter, too.
  17. But he isn't/wasn't dead. He got a new body and lost some of his memory and aspect and kept on smithing.
  18. Haha - because I remembered incorrectly and calculated with 20sec base duration instead of 15. Sorry. So with 3 INT you'd have a duration of 9.75 secs while with 16 you'd have 19.5. With 20 INT you should have 22.5 - that's correct. The Royal Deadfire Cannoneer Belt is much better on any other party member. Its stat bonuses are gone as soon as you shift and so are its Flame Shield and also Firebrand. On a barb, chanter, rogue, fighter, monk, paladin, cipher or even priest on the other hand...
  19. I would agree. Fighter is THE crit machine with Disciplined Strikes in Deadfire so far. And has also an AoE capability with Cleaving Stance. Disciplined Strikes and Killers Froze Stiff will make sure you convert most of your hits into crits (75%) so I think that speed is more important than accuracy here. Speed you can achieve with light/no armor and dual wielding (light) one handers. A Skald can run phrases that heal him (and the party) that stack with Constant Recovery in order to compensate for lower AR - or can later use the damage shield. Also his starting values/points per level will be better as fighter/skald because those get averaged and fighters have better values (except Will defense). Drawback compared to a single class Skald will be that you will have no access to the following abilites: PL 8 Unlock - The Wind's Razored Nails Ripping Through Flesh PL 8 Unlock - I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world PL 8 Unlock - With all your Strength, Slay the Beast! PL 8 Unlock - The Foul Thing PL 8 Unlock - As the Song Reached Its Creshendo PL 8 Unlock - And with a furious thrust, drover her dagger into his heart PL 9 Unlock - Did sing a song of carnage Fair PL 9 Unlock - His heart did fill with the light of the Dawn! PL 9 Unlock - The Great Wyrm Flew O'er the Mountains PL 9 Unlock - The Arrow Sings Between the Dragon's Scales PL 9 Unlock - And sip from the Marrow Whatever those are... And you will get access to higher PL abilits later of course. But I think the higher crit chance and Constant Recovery are worth it. And you get Charge!
  20. And of course the greatest handicap of all: Being an Orlan Hey!
