If the summoned weapon matches the proficiency of the Devoted then you will get the bonus. For example if you chose proficiency for pike then you'll get +2 PEN and +crit damage with Citzal's Spirit Lance. Minor Blights works with no proficiencies, so it's not working with Devoted. Same with Druid's natural weapons.

With Ascendant you want to take Draining Whip, not Biting Whip. It's very powerful with an Ascendant so that he can fill his focus incredibly fast. I can imagine that Ascendant/Barbarian could be really good. You want to cast as fast as possible when ascended - and nobody can reduce casting time and recovery better than a barb (Frenzy, Bloodlust, Blood Thirst).

Disable narrator?
Boeroer replied to Ciphys's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Not true. She doesn't narrate everything, but she pops back up for main plot stuff, at the very least. Okay - I just saw the prologue and then the following 5 minutes which were not voiced. Point is: she's not always talking. -
Preloaded Dreadfire, uninstalled the BB

I also think I have not a few hours because of idle time. Not as much as in PoE, but a substancial amount I guess. -
1. Knockdown is a Full Attacks which adds quite some damage compared to a hunting bow, especially when executed with dual heavy one handers (sabres?). In the early game hunting bow is pretty weak due to DR issues. A Full Attack complety negates the recovery between two strikes which leads to a much higer dps than with auto-attacks. If you hover over the White Worms roll it shoud tell you how many damage it did. Or you have to search a bit further up or down because sometimes the numbers for hitting and damage are seperated if mutiple enemies got hit. And offtank shouldn't need a (large) shield anyways. In this case a spear is a good pick (+5 ACC makes up a bit for the -8 ACC from the large shield). In my opinion every class is better than a rogue except in the early game where a rogue can be really useful. 2 ciphers are certainly more useful over the course of the whole game than 1 cipher and 1 rogue. Usefulness is not only about dealing damage...

Are you sure? Because the time between ticks is not supposed to be affected by anything. You can set DEX to 1000 via console and find out. Two Weapon Style is only supposed to reduce recovery time between weapon attacks when you are dual wielding. I would be very surprised if it has any effect on the ticks of Returning/Relentless Storm.

The quote is correct. Once you use two one-handed weapons you automatically dual-wield. That gives -30% recovery time to be more precise. That is not an ability but automatically happens once you grap two weapons. Same with one handed usage: gives you +12 ACC automatically. Only two handers gain nothing special when you pick them up. Two Weapon Style is an ability and you have to pick it. It goves you additional -20% recovery time (beta) or -15% (final game).

It's just a regular (scaling) great sword that does burn damage instead of pierce damage. For that you invest an ability point, a spell use per encounter and a quite lengthy summoning time. THe only situation where it would be useful is if you meet enemies which are very vulnerable to fire but have very high AR against pierce and slash damage.

Actually every effect on kill is pretty great. Bloodlust gives you a stacking speed bonus (which are hard go get in Deadfire) and Blood Thirst resets recovery to 0. I plan on testing a Barb/whatever class has nice on-kill effects to maximize the effect and focus on that. Maybe paired with on-crit effects because the barb also has some nice passives for that. Paladin comes to mind with Inspiring Defeat (defenses stack). What else...? In PoE one of the most powerful melee builds was Barb with Bloodlust + Blood Thirst + Firebrand.

Cipher's whip does stack, yes. But it's only additive so you won't see much of a difference when backstabbing/assassinating. For auto-attacks it fine though. If you want 0 recovery after Backstab you can use an arquebus: with the modal you'll do a crit most of the time AND guns have no recovery but only reload. That means that you can immedialtey vanish into invisibility (Smoke Cloud) after your backstab/assassination. The lvl-9 ability would make sure you become invisible right after an attack - but that's not for multiclass. Something similar could be achieved by Blood Thirst (barb). But PL 7 - so pretty late as well. If you want great backstabs/assassinations as well as more sturdyness I would say that Bleak Walker is your best mate. Makes the rogue a lot sturdier and adds some nice lashes for the backstabs/assassinations. Devoted only gives you more crit damage which is not multiplicative. And you'll have plenty of bonus PEN when assassinating. Watch out with Deep Wounds! While it is a great passive it currently breaks invisibility when ticking (so stupid). I guess they will fix that if it's not already fixed in the final game.

Everything that gives you multiplicative dmg bonuses is great for Assassin/whatever. That would be high MIG (e.g. Helwalker) and lashes basically (Priest of Berath, Bleak Walker, any monk with Lightning Strikes). I don't know if shifting breaks stealth, but if not then Fury with Wildstrike would also be a candidate. Remember that assassination (not Backstab) works from range and with spells and can be Devastating. So even Assassin/Nuker can be good - you don't need Backstab then. Also all abilities which scale damage with Power Level are great because it's also multiplicative. Look out for abilities/weapons with direct damage (no DoTs because the ticks break invisibility and don't work with assassination) that have high base damage and/or lashes.

By the way: if Blood Thirst works anything like in PoE then Barbarian/Nuker will be a beastly combo. Not only can it cast faster due to Frenzy and Bloodlust but also nullify recovery on kill... IF Blood Thirst works as in PoE where it triggered on direct kills no matter the dmaage source (no DoT). That would allow for a nuke spammer...
