  1. Paladin/Ranger is still good. Tons of low-cost Full Attacks. I recently tested ranger/rogue with focus on wounding DoTs and from lvl 6 to 9 it's very good. Use dual Battle Axes with modal, use Arterial Strike for cheap Full Attacks and DoT, use Deep Wounds and the foes will melt. Also that yopur pet always has Predetor's Sense is nice. I consoled Depp Wounds in in order to test.
  2. For the fan channel (where the devs also show up) you need no invitation. It's pretty easy to find. They also have an official Obsidian server.I don't know if Obsdian has an inhouse-only-channel or server. You won't be able to get in there anyway. The fan stuffis named "Pillars of Eternity Fan Chat". The official Obsidion one is called "Obsidian Entertainment" (who would have guessed ). I tried a bit but Discord is new to me and it was just too fast paced and chaotic for me. I like the sluggishness of forums.

  6. A cat o' nine tails would also have fit into the flail group. That was not the problem I think. They simply said that they can't do unique models for every backer item - which i understand. The tier was only 750$ if I remember correctly. Not too much money for creating an item model and texture, putting in description and eventually coding and testing special effects.
  7. In the final game you will have the option to skip that "Full Sail"/"Half Sail"/"Half Bake" stuff and simply go for boarding. Def. my go-to option...
  8. Oh, right! Good point. Also hope for more spells from Kalakoth. I like his style (except his Sunless Grasp - that's really for a place where the sun doesn't shine...).

  10. Doesn't Weapon and Shield Style give you additional 6 deflection with any shield (plus the same bonus as to deflection to reflex)?
  11. As we could see in the latest stream some abilities got changed from beta4 to final version. And some new abilites were added into the lower tiers.
  12. Ha, you should have done it. I thought about backing a cat o' nine tails (aka the melee blunderbuss) - but then they said that they won't do custom models but you only should "design" a weapon that can go onto one of their models. Meh... Then they did a broom...
  13. A bit off topic perhaps but, since you seem to have tested this extensively in the beta; How do you properly add abilities and such to your character? When I tried adding the monk modal or the spirit lance etc, it shows up as "Already acquired" in the talent tree, but I do not have access to it in my ability bar. Is there an additional step required to make them usable? Do you need to add power levels or something? For Duality you need to add the base ability and two other ones: Duality_of_Mortal_Presence Duality_of_Mortal_Presence_A_Modal Duality_of_Mortal_Presence_B_Modal Else they will not show upo in your action bar. For the Spirit Lance (for testing purposes) I simply use giveItem Citzals_Spirit_Lance - then you can use it without even summoning it. This also works with Kalakoth's Minor Blights, but you can only give yourself one of the four elemental versions - it will of course not cycle after every shot. But for testing purposes it's totally fine. Works with every summoned weapon, including Long Pain. Adding wizard/priest/druid/chanter/cipher spells that are above your power level is tricky. First you have to unlock the UI in the action bar that lets you access higher level spells. Never tried that so far.
  14. I can't think of a mechanic where the linger durations makes any sense though. It must also be very annoying for a Troubadour to reposition and retarget that skeleton every 3 secs if they replace each other.
  15. We already had St. Ydwen's Redeemer (which was cool). Better come up with something else (in other words: new) now. Since the last stream (from Obsidian with Andy showing his a-game ) I have high hopes for unique weapons in Deadfire.
  16. I can't understand how those (seemingly) unbalanced abiltiy trees pass a quality check. The impression it makes that rogues have 1 active tier-9 ability only...
  17. And what's with the Chanter's tier-7 phrase that summons a skeleton? Pretty weird: Summons a skeleton every 6 seconds or how might this work? What's the linger time for? And what about a Troubadour with Brisk Recitation? Will he summon a skeleton every 3 seconds? Will the new one replace the old one? WIll they accumulate? With the other (actively summoned) creatures?
  18. As a rogue/barbarian u can basically do the same thing, with smoke cloud + bloodthirst, with 0 recovery. Also because u have two pool, smoke cloud cost less than vanishing attack, and u can use barbarian crush and regain power point after kill, which sounds better than the rogue ultimate ability. Depends on the cost.
  19. Why are you guys saying that the rogue ability that lets you turn invisible after an attack (Nanishing Strike) is bad? For an Assassin it's a dream come true or do I miss something? Every attack will be Assassinate + Backstab when you only attack with that ability, right? At the same time you will be nigh untouchable after every attack. It hink that's pretty awesome. Maybe not for every rogue - but for some it seems to be very nice. The rest of the high PL stuff sounds pretty lame though I have to agree. Why don't they like rogues at Obsidian?
  20. Yes. it works with all one-handed ranged weapons that you dual wield, like dual scepters, dual wands, dual pistols and dual blunderbusses.
  21. Not exactly. A Helwalker because of 10 MIG and INT is correct, but I will use Kalakoth's Minor Blights + Merciless Gaze (+ petrifying/paralyzing spells) + Swift Flurry and later Citzal's Spirit Lance + Swift Flurry + Turning Wheel + Heartbeat Drumming + Instruments of Pain to insta-kill groups of enemies. Berserker + Skeletons + Blood Thirst --> killing your own summons while confused will hopefully trigger Blood Thirst and give me 0 recovery all the time. If Blood Thirst works with spells like in PoE I might also consider Berserker/Evoker Berserker/Soulblade or Berserker/Fury. Of course I will test this all via console before deciding what to do. There are some cool new abilites I want to check out synergies for...
