More Hardwood + Round Holes = Lots of Scoring in Basketball 2K19
Seeing a lot of GunShot Wound fans saying that the regular season is completely meaningless now. Dunno where they've been, it's been like that for a while.

I did boeuf because I'm not big on goat and that's the only way I've had it before. Didn't want to try to blaze a new trail on my first outing.

I'm not a big vodka drinker, but as I understand it, potatoes are harder to work with than grain so if the distiller is going to try to make it as neutral as possible then it's better to go with grains but if you want flavor, and I don't mean the flavored vodkas, to go with potatoes. At least, that's what I was told by a local distiller so take it with a potato of salt.

Food Thread - Obsidian Gormand's Edition
I'm with you on that one. In elementary my best friend's mom was a terrible cook and even though I tried to avoid eating dinner with them, sometimes I just had to sit there silently and shovel some of the worst food of my short life into my mouth, and gulp it down with a polite smile.

The All Things Political Topic - new edition
It's still possible that he benefited from the outcomes of other cases in which he had no direct interest. Of course, things get a lot murkier without a clear link and there is literally no way to know anyone's true mind. Besides, even if the court were completely corrupt, I'd imagine that they're competent enough lawyers to come up with reasoning for anything. Or they could just be actual good friends. Can't really argue with that. As a former gov't worker, I'm well aware that the appointed and elected officials have different rules and regulations to abide by than us rank and file folks, and have come to learn that the Supreme Court of the land has less accountability than most. But I've also lost faith in the Court and most of our institutions, so there's that.

Food Thread - Obsidian Gormand's Edition
Somebody's pregnant wife was rampaging through my kitchen this morning complaining there was nothing to eat and just being generally not chill. As an offering to appease the angry person, I made them an avocado toast with whatever we had. Toasted a large slice of bread in a pan and fried some Mexican cheese blend on one side, plated that cheese side down and spread avocado mixture (avocado, lemon juice, salt) on top. Chopped up some cherry tomats, squeezed out most of the juice, and sprinkled that all over the avocado then made a green onion-tajin sour cream in the blender and drizzled it over the maters. to finish I shredded a hard-boiled egg in a pile on top and then hit it with a dash of chipotle chili powder.

Government decided to send me a paper check this year after more than a decade of direct deposit. Predictably, the check was lost in the mail and now I have to fill out some paperwork and wait even longer.

Random/Interesting/Weird
When a 9-year-old girl didn’t want her goat to be slaughtered, county fair officials sent deputies after it I'm from rural nowhere and have seen a lot of kids back out of selling their animals for slaughter but I've never seen a reaction like this.

Youtube recommendations, let's beat the algorithm
I'm on my phone and it's too many steps to post a picture of my subs but I only have a few. I'm only subbed so that I can find it easily as I tend to YouTube with a purpose rather than browse. A guided meditation channel that has videos for kids because I meditate with my son. Keyrock's channel. No explanation needed. A STO channel. I still play it. RLM. Just so I don't have to search for it. Some channel that has a bunch of old Soviet films. Just for the holidays.

Ukraine Conflict - Continues
It would make sense. Not only because of our divided attention but because of what Chillout mentioned, as countries turn away from Russia, China is there. And Russia is becoming more dependent on them as well. I know my favorite new tease of my Russian in-laws is to call them Western China or China's newest province. Who would have guessed that people with dreams of an empire hate the idea of being someone else's subjects?

Ukraine Conflict - Continues
I don't see the US stopping anytime in the near term. There's not much downside to it on a practical level as it's done a lot to diminish an adversary without much risk to ourselves. I know public support has dropped a bit but the majority of that has been on the Republican side and I think there's probably enough defense industry, global police, and anti-Russia folks in the party to keep it from completely tanking.
