  1. And now for something completely different
  2. Kids are really into this. Makes me proud.
  3. I don't think it's a good comparison at all but I also don't think what's left of Ukraine is all that friendly towards Russia or is going to be after it's finally conquered. Just as we in the US turn people against us by killing them and their kin. I have no special insights into the opinions of Ukrainians in Ukraine, just anecdotes. But yeah, if Russia just eliminated everyone that wasn't demonstrably pro-Russian then that could likely kneecap a lot of insurgency efforts. Incredibly hard to defend though.
  4. I don't know, I was a little kid back then at the tail end of it. Just meant that they seem to be bumbling around Ukraine. I assumed they would have steamrolled Ukraine in the beginning of the war and now here we are years later. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for it, as I've said I've got in-laws in Kiev. Makes me wonder how we'd hold up against our neighbors. Would they make us look that bad too? Disagree with Zor on Afghanistan, though, even though he admitted it's different, as the invasion was over quickly and the occupation was costly and I would expect it to be costly for Russia as well once/if they finally "win". Obviously though none of the comparisons can be very close.
  5. As a casual observer they never really seemed that competent aside from Wagner.
  6. This is honestly the first I've ever heard of it but now I want to do it because I am terrified of heights and like faces my fears head on because I'm an idiot.
  7. I fully expect all of you to avenge me
  8. In Estonia for 3 and a half weeks.
  9. The Trump administration is threatening my kid's school district for being woke or whatever by withholding federal funds. So they're suing to get the money because they're already struggling to get by. Because better we have no school than a school that trans kids feel safe in, obviously.
  10. I started with NotebookLM but now I use Ollama because while I'm on my home network, I can use it on my phone. I let it roll for me and it does a pretty good job, though I had it code me a dice roller, but I stopped using it because lazy. I just play one character, my main whatever depending on the setting.
  11. I was fancasting the movie of my life, as one does, and I think I've figured the perfect person or rather duo to play me. Tilda Swinton but dubbed over by Morgan Freeman.. it just feels right.
  12. I've gone a little off the deep end on the solo TTRPGs. I ended up hosting my own LLM so that I could customize it to work better for me.
  13. I didn't get any PMs so I assume it wasn't one the games I have listed. Though I probably have a hundred more to add by now
  14. Yeah, I'm off today and now I think I know what I'll be doing.
  15. I just wish we could make the old men in charge fight each other to the death
  16. Sage sorcerer, I think, uses intelligence. There's always wizard but I don't like juggling spell slots but maybe cruoromancer would be the most thematically appropriate with a Dhampir.
  17. We've been rewatching Schitt's Creek.
  18. I was like who? Oh, no not Lamont!
  19. They are like big tasty dogs. I know, I've seen City Slickers.
  20. While I don't enjoy the more modern language in Strange New Worlds, I still enjoy it, new Gorn aside. To me it's easily the second best NuTrek after Prodigy, which was better than it had any right to be. It was aspirational and they were fighting against their immaturity instead of leaning into it, which they could have since the crew was actual kids/young adults.
  21. RLM DS9 videos. I didn't realize how much I needed this right now.
  22. This is correct; I was, and kind of still am, a Packers fan, even though I don't follow the NFL at all anymore. I always cheer for the local sports team unless they are playing my actual favorite teams, but that goes for all team sports. The Madden and Tecmo Bowl games were the reason for my early Packers fandom, if anyone is wondering why the Packers. They had Sterling Sharpe and he could catch anything in those games and little kid me wanted to be a wide receiver. When I was a kid in AZ, everyone hated the Cardinals because they chose to be a city team rather than a state team, though they later rectified that. The Cowboys fans always outnumbered the Cardinals fans in my little corner of southern Arizona.
  23. I made a few delicious Jell-o soups before because of too many bones, and I always thought they were great too. Wife occasionally likes (for me) to make aspics, so I guess it all kind of fits.
  24. I made, I don't know what to call it, but I had it once and attempted to recreate it. Boiled some potatoes with a few baby carrots and while that was on I caramelized some sweet onions and crisped up some prosciutto (I think the original probably had bacon but I didn't) in the microwave (pork chips, yum). Drained and roughly mashed my root vegetables with butter and milk, then stirred in the onions, crumbled crispy prosciutto, and a dollop of sauerkraut. My wife thought it was the best thing ever but my kids didn't really care for it.
  25. I play Shadowrun solo. I use Gemini to do the GMing for me.
