Tbh, I just got it for the ONT with a 10gb port, but they locked it only for the 10gb package (for which they offer no discount). The sad thing is that the ONT with the 10gb port has crappy wifi (which I don't care about either way as I will get 2 access points) and the ONT they offer for packages between 1gb and 10gb has wifi 6, that delivers better speeds that the wired lan ports which are 1gb... So essentially you are paying for a speed you cannot use. The ONT they offer for 1GB and less crashes if you have more than 4 clients on wifi. Wait till I tell you it cost 45 euros per month.2 points

Eh, there's no way I could get 10Gb here even if the ISP would offer it. We were one of the few households that were asked to participate in our ISP's pilot project, and I am fairly certain we've reached the limits of the cables laid back in the 80ies for TV. Networking CPU overhead is a concern for datacenters and speeds beyond 100Gb, which is why vendors have been pushing out smarkt networking solutions with ARM SoCs that handle everything related to networking, freeing up significant CPU resoures. Not sure how much that woud apply to a 10Gb connection at home, but you could always try to go for one of those cards. They just cost an arm and a leg.2 points

I keep going back to how much dems are screaming that this election will decide the fate of democracy to try and convince people to vote but are not operating strategically like it is. At the very least you'd expect them to put forward someone more liked than Joe, which strangely enough Kamala is, let alone flex some of that new presidential immunity granted by the supreme council of elders....but they're just barreling forward with a strategy that looks likely to fail.....because going against Biden now could hurt their future political career. Guess the ivy league can't teach sense. Also like you said, the seeds of this were planted under Obama. If his administration had stuck to their guns to force replacement for Scalia instead of giving up and if they had convinced RBG to step down then we wouldn't be dealing with this right now. The sad fact is that Republicans are simply better at navigating the contours of US politics (even if they are also bad at actually running things) and operate to achieve total victory while Democrats are still treating politics like a gentleman's game where everyone operates in good faith. It's ****ing maddening to watch.2 points

I am with you on this one. The three Shadowrun games were exactly what I was itching for, when I have played them. They had some flaws for sure, but I still consider them brilliant masterpieces2 points

The Outer Worlds Unfortunately, no unique dialogue options so far. Cookie Cutter Well, it was gory. Well, it got more gory. None of the screenshots seems to require a spoiler tag, as the gore is not exactly realistic. And this is the sidekick. I am generally puzzled why this was chosen. The MC is chosen one. The first boss. It was one of the situation where parrying insta-kill made sense - the boss was reasonably sturdy otherwise. I had to rebind the Menu Controls first, because S or D were used there and kept resetting the bindings. Zoom In and Zoom Out are impossible to rebind. Sephonie The first boss. I think, it gave a traversal ability. And at this point I uninstalled and refunded. Somehow, seeing a burnt mutilated corpse described in detail in a chill puzzle platformer about environmentalism was unpleasant.1 point

You still can download the installers/archives from GOG and Itch.io, despite them being non-physical only (that is, you are the one copying the files on the external drives/cloud). It does not work for many larger publishers, but since I am not interested in most of them (EA and MS/Obsidian+inXile being the exceptions), it bothers me less (the general idea of the preservation of our culture aside). Funnily enough, the latest Larian's game is DRM-free on Steam, so having the older versions is possible as long as you have the space to back it up (~130GB total, ~90GB of textures; the bloat and the inability to remove it, while keeping the game-critical parts, annoy me greatly) and it also prevents the forced updates on Steam (granted, that's Steam's issue, not Larian's fault for releasing an unfinished game, while removing the Early Access tag). --- On a related note, I've got a GamePass key and would be happy to give it to someone who uses it. --- https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/if-you-want-to-play-that-whopping-fallout-london-mod-youll-need-to-downgrade-fallout-4s-next-gen-version Not sure if I am going to play Fallout: London, but I do have the pre-next-gen version of Fallout 4, so I can. Though, the downgrader will be included with the mod, so even the less fortunate Steam players can do so with little friction. Also, this makes me quite happy that Obsidian very reasonably and player-friendly made the More Space-Consuming edition of The Outer Worlds optional and safely separated from the original game as a different product.1 point

It's not a view, it is just a statement of fact. The only way one can consider this is not a fight for democracy and the rule of law in the US is if you believe the fight has already been lost. Between the fall of Roe v Wade, the ruling on Presidential immunity for official acts, and the gutting of chevron deference, perhaps the game is already done, even if Trump loses the election. I guess that to roll back what has already happened, then the next election would have to give the dems the presidency, the house and a 60 seat majority in the Senate. But I'd really like someone more knowledgeable than me to chime in.1 point

I'll have to retract a bit on this, the last few bosses are really tough. So either be good, or grind lots. Turns into more of a diablo-like arpg at that point.1 point

Based on what I've read/seen people comment on, there are two main reasons for Gamepass: ---you would buy/play a lot of games per year vs. only a few/several at most, and generally don't care about replaying them (once and done) or that they might get yanked off the available list in a few/several months (thus the monthly would still end up cheaper) ---you want to be able to try any new games out for "cheap" to first decide if you care enough to fully buy it ---you're console only anyway and/or need the MP/online functions so must pay on some level anyway (?). Me, I never paid/signed up for the PS sub that gives you online access stuff. I don't need it, don't care. I still have zero interest in Gamepass, even with MS doing its best to acquire a lot of franchises. "Owning" a game may be ever more of a precarious illusion in these days of non-physical media, but I still like what illusion there is left.1 point

Very much depends on the game. There's a lot of outdated information because back in the day, MS Store titles were distributed as UWP Apps which pretty much meant no modding at all. Those days are gone and the games are just standard Win32 apps now and most can be modded just fine, but the reputation persists. Bethesda games are a bit of an outlier because of their reliance on the third-party script extenders for the more complex mods, most famously SKSE for Skyrim, alongside F4SE for Fallout 4 and now SFSE for Starfield. This is a dependency for many mods, so mods that require it won't work. There's currently no official way to load them with MS Store versions of the games, but the good news is that there is some progress by third-parties who have now got it working (technical details here). Note that I've no knowledge of any bugs or limitations it may have as I haven't played Starfield since launch day and thus never actually tried modding it - I got a total of around 3 hours in before quitting of boredom. Anyway, the original authors of it have no interest in enabling MS Store compatibility and the devs of this side-project don't have the rights to distribute the SFSE code, hence the oddness of their release being a hex mod for the official SFSE release. Would be nice if they could come to an agreement someday to make it as easy as installing it on the Steam/GOG version.1 point

Pathfinder Kingmaker. I forgot to add that POE is also the only game which gives me a feeling of playing BG & Icewind Dale (White March) at the same time . In my current walkthrough I decided to play with party of 5 (my Barbarian, Edér, Priest of Magran Hireling, Aloth and Kana). I never min max, always role play and I enjoy Normal difficulty. Currently in Defiance Bay and really looking to get to the White March but I am planning to go there only after the Animancy Hearings. Btw. after all these years I am still undecided about the Animancy . Another great thing about POE1 is that I can be rewarded for the exploration and enchant even basic weapons instead of spending a lot of money by the Merchants.1 point

I wanted to like Cyberpunk with all my little black heart but it's not at all what I wanted. I keep hovering over the buy button for the Idris pack but something stops me from pulling the trigger. Anyways, I just finished a replay of Dragonfall and Hong kong. What I wouldn't do for more good Shadowrun games.1 point

Finished Necromunda: Hired Gun. The game is a fun fast paced shooter I guess (it isn't my genre, so I do not know what the criteria are). They put in a lot of effort to craft the maps. The voice acting exists. I found some npcs to not talk loud enough. The story also exists. I am not sure it should. It requires the audience to care about a very specific Necromunda character and to have read the novels and comics. Even then, it still is pointless.1 point

I upgraded a bit too Still not getting the 10Gb. My provider is telling me my config (cpu) is the bottleneck, but appart from being old I do not see how an intel 6950x could be the bottleneck. I did get a chinese x550-t2 network card (made in Thailand), or it could be the cat6 cables in the walls. Need to test a direct connection with the ONT.0 points

yeah, same here. I thought Dragonfall was brilliant, but I just found myself bored by Hong Kong. I felt the pacing was really off.0 points

You just reminded me that I never finished Hong Kong. For some reason this did not click with me at all. Loved Dragonfall tho.0 points
