If you want it checked properly get the part/ model numbers/ specs- especially for the MB and PSU- and post them to Skeeters Junkyard. Dell, unfortunately, has had a bit of a habit of pairing top of the line seeming components like i9s and 4090s with less glamorous parts that are cheap and nasty and may cause massive bottlenecks. Specifically things like unlocked i9s with motherboards that can't overclock andor completely inadequate cooling or power supplies. But may be unnecessarily expensive, if Dell supplies you a MB with only two RAM slots. (one of my relatives is on their 3rd Dell PSU, inside a year, hence the skepticism. And being a Dell their custom case is designed so you can't just put in a reliable 3rd party ATX PSU, chalk it up to experience and skip the month of no PC while the PSU wends its way, by ship, from Singapore... though that delay is not one suspects so much of a problem in larger markets than kiwiland)4 points

@Noqn : I will test your mod. It looks really complete for sure. Did you permit to create new CharacterProgressionTable for a companion ? I was doing something a bit (lol) less elaborate (the same as @HurukHai) => https://i.ibb.co/wzbg5xv/doc-screenshot.png3 points

New York judge rules Trump committed fraud while building real estate empire "Engoron ordered that some of Trump’s business licenses be rescinded as punishment, making it difficult or impossible for them to do business in New York. The judge said he would continue to have an independent monitor oversee the Trump Organization’s operations." first, this is so not in our wheelhouse. as such am not pretending we got more knowledge or expertise than fox news, cnn or washington post sources. however, is our opinion fox and other news outlets understates the disillusion aspect. ain't just that trump won't be able to do business in ny if this holds. is our understanding that banks, insurers and the like who wanna do business in ny will no longer be able to do business with trump. as such this is gonna prevent trump from doing biz with virtual every major bank and insurer. however, there will be appeals and trump also has a lawsuit claiming Judge engoron through various inactions and actions is preventing trump from mounting a defense. the lawsuit involving the Judge could delay or alter proceedings. an appellate court is set to decide the lawsuit this thursday? regardless, trump corp goes into disillusion receivership w/i ten days, which is functional an extension o' the current receivership the court already ordered. HA! Good Fun!3 points

It's actually quite funny, I started on it a few days ago (mainly in anticipation of my next run). And all this, because POE1 freezes on my new configuration. The hazards of life Aptheosis mod looks amazing !2 points

That sounds more than adequate, I bought a new machine 4 years and I basically made sure it was the " best " hardware at the time ( no such thing really due to nature of hardware improvements ) My objective was ensuring I could run every game at maximum graphic settings and even 4 years later I can more or less still do that with the exception of a few games like RDR2 on certain advanced settings. But I have subsequently realized most of my favorite games dont need the best graphic settings Anyway my main specifications were 64 GB of memory : never had to use anything close to that, 32GB would have been fine' 2 TB SDD: Good investment around disk I\O speed Geoforce RTX 2080 with 12 GB memory : Probably the best investment around graphic settings but also not necessary for the games I play But your rig looks good2 points

"Average Betty" - although perhaps I should rename it again to "Metal Mule" I don't like the blue/orange color scheme but take it to the right planet and it'll look better. She's a good ship, but occasionally likes to show off a personality quirk or two. Apparently other planets had their version of dinosaurs, that didn't go extinct.2 points

Started a new Corpo V with Tech/Cool and later some Int (or maybe earlier if I feel like it) for the addon. Playing on hard, which so far is... not, although all I've done so far are NPCD scanner hustles and the gig where you steal back someone's eye, but even the larger organized crime hustles are not too difficult. The new grenade system is super powerful. Just as long as you stay mobile and don't run into an exposed area without the extra mitigation from sprinting perk it's fine.2 points

More NMS blatherings: Went to a space station. Checked the npc pilots ships. One had one with 39 storage slots! But they wanted 33million for it. Since I am a mining/selling fool, I did have it. Barely, I am totally broke now. But then I scavenged the Ugly Boat for 4million and doing so for some reason gave me a ship-inventory-slot mod. So now the new ship has 40. And it's not quite as fugly so I named it "Average Betty." Too bad I can't repaint it. I think the groove for me in NMS is going to be farming billions over and over to collect 12 - I think that's max? - spaceships/upgrading them to the max (I don't care about the freighters). That and finding the perfect Paradise planet with a good supporting 3-4 other planets around it. And maybe eventually, taming a flying pet I can ride. I've seen screenshots. I want one. Oh, after the first "space fight" with some folks, I turned that stuff off. I can barely fly the damn ship without constantly doing accidental loop-de-loops - aiming/fighting in space is basically "no." At this point it's pure sandbox for me. Edit: you can rename your Mining Tool, too. So I did. It is ... MIner69er. *listens to the groans* ...2 points

Yes it can certainly come across as overkill. But the reason I always go for as much as I can get when I buy a new machine is that I then keep that machine for a very long time. My current machine is 8+ years old, and that's roughly been my average. So my pattern is to go big and then sit on that machine for longer than most people would before the next refresh, because I'm very pro-status quo/don't like change until change is absolutely necessary, and I also hate the whole process of migrating my stuff from the old to the new. Heck, even my car is now 16+ years old and definitely needs a refresh. But at current new car prices ... sheesh!! Edit: CPU is the i92 points

Should be in every game. Regardless of genre. Baldur's Gate? Kill Sarevok, the bikini elf rushes in Stab Stab Stab. XCOM? Kill the aliens, the bikini elf comes in and stab. Civilization? Build a spaceship, bikini elves spawn next to the city. The Sims? Sims hang out in the jacuzzi. Bikini elf throws a hair dryer in.2 points

You can't tell without the specs of the drive itself, but a USB drive isn't going to be NVMe/ PCIe gen3/4 fast even on paper and will have worse latency too. About 1 Gpbs in/out seems to be standard for portables so not really close to saturating the theoretical throughput on a USB 3- but I'd suspect fairly close to practical saturation. Games wise, so far as I'm aware none of them specify the type of SSD required when they're required as a min spec, so far, and I'd say it's likely that an external SSD nowadays will be faster than or at least equivalent to the old internal SATA SSDs. Mileage May Vary, practically. Probably won't be sufficient for DirectStorage stuff in the future though (iirc that requires PCIe/ NVMe by spec).1 point

I reloaded and replayed the beginning of the last (?) map of Act 2. Mainly I wanted to bring Wyll for his quest, which was hilarious since finding out who was the asset needing rescue was even better than if it was Raphael. I can't believe they didn't include options to mock the situation. The items I had in my camp chest were not a big deal and the only item of worth in the isolated area was something I'm not using. The last battle looked difficult because of the position of the enemies, but there was a recover station nearby and I decided to drink speed potions to be on the safe side, so it ended up ridiculously easy. Not to mention After the battle, Karlach became so furious because she saw one of the bad guys that the game crashed. But she looked tame compared to how one npc reacted earlier.1 point

I explored the sewers, found the society of brilliance, killed an old man beneath the cemetery, and got attacked by vampire spawn when I was trying to sleep. Irresistible Dance is broken as hell, it made what would be a final boss in another game trivial.1 point

it depends on quality of your MB and on the ports it provides. The issue with USB-C is that it can get down to 480Mbps, if the manufacturers chooses cheap stuff... EDIT: Oh and of course about the quality of used cables as well...1 point

I am in the same boat, when it goes about computers. But Ram was almost exclusively the only thing, that I have ever upgraded over the years, whenever I had PC. I am 45 and my current PC is only my fifth one since Cyrix was still a thing Although my tactic was always to go for runners up in benchmarks, as the cost/performance/longevity ratio is in such case always the best. Since I am not paying premium for the hottest fluff on the market.1 point

Well my rig can still run it, so that's something. Reloaded an old save to play Phantom Liberty, but maybe should start wholly fresh.1 point

32GB RAM and an i9 CPU should be quite enough for gaming. Though, getting more storage space (4TB+) might be reasonable - anything that requires these specs is likely to take a lot of space. Additionally, the PSU, the motherboard, and the cooling system should be adequate. The number and type of ports are probably less relevant if you are not going to upgrade some parts. I have been with my current PC for 8 years as well (I do have a spare one should anything go wrong), so cannot recommend anything more specific.1 point

Yep, go to GameData -> ProgressionTables -> CharacterProgressionTable. Then you can either right-click CharacterProgressionTable to create a new one from scratch or move to the panel to the right and search for the table you want (e. g. one of Eder's tables), right-click that row and press Duplicate - then you'll create a deep copy of the that table. After you've created the new table you can edit the by pressin the Pen icon next to AbilityUnlocks You can see this in action here: (It looks better for ClassProgressionTables since the view puts ability icons on rows depending on their PL requirement and not Level requirement - so almost all abilities are on the first row in CharacterProgressionTables) You can then add the new ProgressionTable to your Companion by navigating to GameData -> Characters -> Companions, selecting the Companion in the panel to the right, then in the tree view expand the ProgressionTables row and click the row of the PT you want to replace, then lastly just search/select the PT you want to replace it with And hit the save button to save the mod:1 point

Playing Trails of cold steel 2 and while I like the series, I can't explain why I like the series. It's very odd how forgiving I am of cheesy dialogue in jRPGs but when I play Starfield I'm like "this is trash writing" meanwhile, trails of cold steel has a deus ex machina every chance they get. I just finished act 1 and I think the party has been saved by a random hero like 5 times.1 point

Mostly because she's quite bemused, and sometimes confused, by my attempts, and some of the teasing is directed at me from giving her more attention than other drivers. I learned today that she doesn't read lips either since she's only ever really used sign language in school and in private. Thankfully (For me) she's good at shaping words, so I can read her lips more than try to follow along her blisteringly fast signing, since I'm hearing impaired I've always used lip reading as support for my bad hearing. That said, with the exception of three coworkers, 9 are young enough that I could've been their father without breaking any laws. Edit; Thankfully, they aren't childish enough to make fun of someones disability, except ribbing me a bit when I can't hear what the F they are yabbering about over the radio.1 point

I favored motorcycles in my first playthrough. I was a fan of the Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X, not only because it was the fastest motorcycle in the game (though not the fastest vehicle) but also because it sort of looks like Kaneda's iconic motorcycle from Akira. Phantom Liberty has a bunch of new vehicles so who knows what I wind up liking the best.1 point
