  1. Still playing The Outer Worlds. It's soooooooo good. No boring a** open-world to deal with, interesting npcs, modding weapons is fun, writing is great....but.... -Stealth sucks -Weapon variety is weird, are these guys into big guns?! because you sure have an awful lot of them compared to anything else -Main plot is boring and at times, pretty much non-existent Are the dlcs worth it?! Because I am having fun with this.

  3. Let's not defame those rappers by comparing them to Trump, but MF DOOM is relevant beyond the grave.

  4. Finally a somewhat balanced review of the game. Good on Eurogamer.

  5. I actually quite like the plot - but the set up isn’t very obvious (good!) but it will be revealed in time what is really going on. It does come together eventually. DLCs are solid. If you are enjoying the base game that much, they are definitely worth picking up. They are in-campaign expansions, so you want to play them before you wrap up current play through.

  6. I feel like I'm playing a different game than most of the others on here. I like it okay, but looking forward to going back to Pathfinder.

  7. And here's the dish that I guess I'll just call Moroccan Style Beef: Not much to look at but any ras el hanout heavy recipe is going to wind up brown. It is what it is. It's quite tasty, very similar flavor to the mrouzia with the same balance of sweet, savory, and spicy, but with a more complex sweet flavor because of the larger variety of fruit. The potatoes were also a good call, this desperately needed a starch. It probably would work well on top of rice also, if you prefer that to potatoes as your complex carb source. I'm less enthusiastic about putting this on top of if noodles, but who knows? I'm going to try out some more meat & fruit dishes. Sweet & savory is a really good flavor combination.

  8. Thanks to everyone who participated. Below you will find the Top Three Dev Questions, community member contributor, and a Dev's subsequent reply. Happy 20th Obsidian! Q: I've seen that there is someone who's head of XBox research for Obsidian. How do the developers work with that person and their team? What are the kind of things that Obsidian can ask them/they bring to Obsidian? (Question submitted by Sannom) Q: Are we ever likely to see a similar complexity of choice and consequences as done in Alpha Protocol in any future games? Or was the combined reactivity of conversations, character attitudes, the timing of when and where you met characters and mission choices too stressful, frustrating, and convoluted for testing and story writing to revisit that approach? (Question submitted by Raithe) Q: You guys obviously do a lot of research on your games, given how detailed and plausible your worlds are so that even little things stick in memory, like rings considered to be tacky to use as jewelry in Tyranny or yacht's name in Alpha Protocol being a reference to cult soviet cartoon, and it's clearly more than "lets google this sh†t", so here's my question - how do you do your research? (Question submitted by bugarup)

  14. Right? I was never a fan of underdark and grimforge - I hoped those areas were just unfinished in EA, but it wasn’t the case. I suppose those are Larian’s version of dungeons, but I find their combat design too sloppy to make for a satisfying gameplay. Someone said earlier that story picks up at the end of act2. I am about 15 hours into act2 and I am pretty much where I was after rescuing Halsin - reach the tower. Not much new from companions - they feel much closer to D:OS2 now. Each of them seems to have a story beat in the act (and granted, one of them was pretty awesome), but they are much, much quieter now, and their responses feel more formulaic.

  17. The Forgotten Girls, written and obviously heavily referenced by the author for the first article, is a fairly enjoyable read - it's mostly an autobiography on the author growing up in dirt poor Arkansas and how some relatively innocuous desires and choices during her youth allowed her to escape that life while dooming virtually everyone else she'd ever known during her childhood in the face of rural America being in terminal decline. If you enjoyed the article, you'll probably enjoy the book, especially as it weaves in narratives and themes with the intertwining of poverty, politics, and religion.

  21. From what I've played of the game so far, it's pretty much fine. Which is infinitely better than I expected, and way more than I get out of almost anything AAA-released these days. If I get farther into the game and my mind changes, I'll let you all know. I mean, I always do, don't I?

  22. Larian's D&D game still does some things well (non-combat application of spells, traversal abilities, and quest lines going throughout the whole game), fails miserably at others (encounter design post-Act 1, the implementation of multiclassing, the reactivity post-Act 1, the limited support of non-combat non-evil options in late-game, writing, animations and VA**), but certainly does not have MTX and DRM (Steam updates is another thing and I've been playing on Steam through Family Sharing). Though, it will be in a better state after a year or two (using players as testers after EA is a common practice, but not a welcome one). Also, the third act is more stable than the second act in The Waylanders (a game I somehow liked, but it is not a high bar). **the PC is almost always smiling slightly (helmets solve it outside of the camp), occasionally spouts OOC environmental comments, and there are no voices for older, orcish or dwarven PCs. --- Ironically, the guardian was my favourite character. 23. Irony is that Linus obviously didn't actually watch the video before responding (or didn't pay attention) since it was specifically mentioned that they auctioned it. So it wasn't a valid correction in even the most trivial sense.
    1 point
  24. Lmao: "We didn't sell it, we auctioned it." What a dip. If nothing else, at least the GN video accomplished in getting Billet Labs getting compensated for Linus stealing and selling their stuff - Linus magically remembered they exist after weeks of ignoring them two hours after the GN video released.

  26. Disagree. If I had no other choice I would put a sticker of a cutesy anime magical girl with sparkles and cherry blossoms over the demon dog to make the card less embarrassing.

  27. About 62% through Saints Row apparently, though it feels I am farther along due to side content. Overall I like it. It has lost some of its grotesque charm. But to be honest, if strippers everywhere were the only thing to make Saints Row (3) attractive, then people should probably play p0rn games instead. Or any Bethesda game with mods. When ignoring the sanitized tone and sometimes best-friends-squad attitude of the Saints, it may actually be the Saints Row with the most stuff to do and the most meaningful side stuff to do. The story is what it is: You are a psychotic murder machine who moved to Santo Ilesso (not Vegas), a city in the desert with casinos, grand canyon style geology and a rich history of ufo sightings, werewolf hunters and other fun facts the Santo Ilesso tourism board will be happy to inform you about - Keep It Strange Santo! As your criminal aspirations didn't pan out when you first moved there, you ended up sharing an apartment with three friends, Neenah (studied art history only to find out she now had a useless degree she couldn't get a job with, so works as a mechanic for Los Panteros -a gang into street racing, monster trucks and anything cars), Kevin (influencer, DJ, social butterfly with more EXs than Shaundi, often partying with the Idols - an anarchist Burning Man collective) and Elija (wannabe entrepreneur who listens to motivational podcasts) so you can split rent. Since all of you are basically jobless, you end up doing random small crimes to pay for your expenses and once a month you rob the odd loan shark (a victimless crime) to make rent. Things look up when you get a new job at Marshal, a private military contractor (among other things), who basically has become the city's main investor after Ultor went bankrupt (not unaffected by the Red Faction miners' strike). Queue: the intro/tutorial your first day on the job at Marshal. Things get a bit out of hand fast, and the delicate balance of Santo Ilesso goes boom. You end up with Marshal, Panteros and the Idols having it out for you and in turn your friends. So you do what any self respecting psycho would do: Just without the hookers, because this is the new Saints Row. The sanitized, respectful one. And that is when the game proper starts. The city is, as always, split into districts, but instead of taking them over by completing all side activities, you build shady businesses in them. These business ventures then unlock new side activities. For example the Shady Oaks clinic is the facade for your insurance scams. Bright Future is a toxic waste dump, where you can drive trucks with green good, get paid by companies for taking care of their waste, then blackmail them for keeping quiet about it. Some ventures, like the two mentioned, will have these activities repeatable. Others, like the Chalupacabra Food Truck company, which has you taking over the drug trade, are done when they are done. Other side activities are classified as Side Hustles, where you basically do odd jobs for npcs, like making deliveries, or blowing up cell towers of rival telecommunication companies. The nice thing is that they made all activities have a point, not just be random stuff you do. Even the good ole kill loads of people activity is a side hustle where you leave bad reviews at establishments the specific enemies frequent. But, the different tone, the departure from the provocative NSFW theme, will make returning players go "This ain't no Saints Row". Which is a shame, as it may be the best "Saints Row". And the boss still kinda is the boss. Your plans seem to still involve shooting everyone or something something something we win.

  29. Again, there are verbatim quotes of Trump openly saying he did illegal things. He was indicted for things he has admitted to doing. There are also statements of his that show that he knew what he was doing was illegal.

Am I phrasing in the most negative light for them? Yes, but it's not untrue. https://www.denverpost.com/2023/08/16/colorado-catholic-schools-lawsuit-lgbtq-preschool/

  31. Could also be a Bioware limitation. I can remember at least twice, where you beat the crap out of the villain and grind his face into the dirt with your boot on his neck, just for the game to decide that the villain somehow mysteriously won and you have no chance... after beating the living daylight out of him and hanging him out to dry. Malak in Kotor and Kaileng in ME3...` so despite overwhelming victories, the game takes control away from the player and creates a 180 degree opposite outcome of events.
