BioWare is certainly not alone in pulling a stunt like that, I've encountered that crap quite a few times and it drives me crazy every time. There will be a boss fight and when you reach a trigger point, 33% boss health, 25%, whatever, the cutscene plays with the boss leaving me a bloody, beaten mess barely clinging to life. it doesn't matter if I was absolutely mopping the floor with them during the actual fight. Why even have the fight if you're going to have me get stomped in a cutscene? Forget the fight, just have me get stomped in the cutscene. Better yet, there are a few games that handle this sort of thing in a much superior way by putting you in a battle you are supposed to lose (usually very early in the game). However, the battle is not impossible, it's just LUDICROUSLY difficult. If you manage to beat this battle that you are supposed to lose the game continues and it will slightly alter your early game, but there comes a time where it doesn't matter and the game is the same regardless of if you lost like you were supposed to or you beat the nearly unbeatable battle.1 point

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Tried to replay for a bit, spent an hour respeccing (from a rogue to an Aldori Swordlord) and just running around Drezen. The CPU does not like WotR much for some reason, though I can't remember if it was an issue when I last played. Since it's the GOG version, the game couldn't have changed. I suppose, the replay will have to wait a bit longer - I'd rather feel more progress during short gaming sessions. Anno: Mutationem (not the grand strategy series). Explored the starting area, fought the tutorial battle. The controls are partially rebindable, the mouse is not supported during gameplay. So far, it somehow reminds of Devil May Cry in terms of combat (directional attacks, though Anno:M has a separate key for dodge, like Bayonetta), but 2D and sci-fi.1 point

If it's bad marketing then I don't get why they aren't trying for PoE3. Burnout is real, but you have different people and I would guess that enough time has passed by now, for the original folks too. Maybe Avowed is that from their pov.1 point

I still didn't had much time to play But there is another thing that keeps bugging me.... am I stupid or is there no way to quickselect a single merc? Can I only ever select all and blob them around the map? Also, sorry, but I hate the claustrophobic camera zoom.1 point

The fact that it's the Security Council reminded me of the fact that for almost the entire 2000s, Russia has staunchly opposed various Security Council initiatives to better recognize and deal with sexual violence in conflicts. They have had a "Why are we even talking about stuff like this?" approach. It's awful -- but to be expected. (They have, luckily, been outvoted several times.)1 point

Now I want chicken fried steak. Church's used to do them on Wednesday but not sure if that's still the deal. Yes, Church's Chicken is my chicken chain of choice.1 point

My biggest takeaways: Chris Parker seems like a genuinely great person, Josh turned into Ned Flanders and YouTube comments are terrible. Uhm, scratch the last one, already knew that.1 point

Oh, I know. That's the reason I use that thing only for music, phone calls, some (paid, ad-free) games for unavoidable queues and keep its email separate from ones I use on PC. I also know just how bad google tracking is, and that Windows does it too, but just because I have a mild parasite infestation does not mean I must be okay with every parasite that wants to come my way.1 point

It's basically there to get rid of using lots of buffing spells at the same time. Play the Pathfinder games to see the opposite end of the scale. Personally I like it. Most concentration spells are very good too, like Hold or Dominate. As for classes being boring, this is a big problem with 5th ED. Some classes are just plain boring to play. Barbarian comes out on top of that, imo. Fighters in PnP have a subclass that gets a lot of options, but they have a boring subclass too. In Solasta they're boring too. It's not that big of a deal when you control a whole party, though.1 point

Similar to a lot of strategy and tactics game, where you clear the map of every opponent and then the cut scene has your side retreating due to overwhelming force. Expeditions: Rome had a terrible scenario in Gaul, where once you beat the fight your whole party was actually defeated in the cutscene and has to be rescued by NPCs.1 point

@Gfted1 You will be proud of me, I did my own DIY again but this time plumbing. I thought of you and your daughter My sinks in the kitchen were draining slowing and I did some Internet research and I watched a video about using a plunger. Instead of phoning a plumber I followed the video instructions and I used a plunger and I cleared the blocked sink Im getting good, Im close to advanced DIY skills1 point

It would make sense, but perhaps the fact that I haven't really heard much about Gabbard regularly over the last few years or so (your mention of her I've seen in months and covid has destroyed my sense of time) shows that there is maybe a limit to the "I left the left" grift in terms of launching someone into the big leagues of the grift game. If RFK goes the way of Gabbard, it looks like he'll go from being the current "anti-establishment" fave to doing slots on FOX news and hosting a middling show that struggles to pull any big names in. Still will probably make more money than having to get a real job though.1 point

"they" can be a neutral singular pronoun in standard English. In older usage, "he" was used but then the feminists objected. In answer to the OP, Malak I agree was a Jedi Guardian and Revan a Consular based on their clothing. We didn't really see any video footage of what the exile wore so it's harder to tell.1 point

I'm looking forward to a game from Owlcat that uses the new PF ruleset, if that ever comes to fruition. @xzar_monty I never played Deadfire, I didn't finish PoE either. Once I hit the level cap I kind of lost interest.0 points

In my view, Obsidian's excessive emphasis on "balance" in Poe and Deadfire is best exemplified by the fact that there's essentially no treasure or loot that makes you go "Wow!". Now, I don't know about everybody, but I would still sort of claim that this kind of thing is a big draw for a lot of people: it just feels good, for an adventurer, to find something that really helps you on your way. And yes, I understand the pitfalls of overpowered items or even items-that-are-so-much-better-than-the-rest-that-everybody-basically-regards-them-as-necessary. But still. Remember the pirate map in Deadfire? The one that you had to assemble from maybe four or five pieces collected from various foes in the game? That was a brilliant example of a letdown created by excessive emphasis on "balance". Because once you finally had that map and went to the location it described, you found... nothing that was worth squat.0 points

It seems the final release of BG3 won't include party formations and your leading character, the one who does all the dialogues, will also be the one leading the group into combat. Why? The first D:OS had a formation button, iirc. Couldn't they at least force the player's character to do the dialogues?0 points
