Hi everyone ! BPM Version 2.0 is being uploaded. Deadfire Balance Polishing Mod at Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) This new version is actually quite big (as usual, use the <Version 2.0> tag to check everything). That's why I call it 2.0. What I can say in a nutshell : 1) I've tried to be as paranoid as I could about scaling, so you guys don't have to worry about it. Trust me, now everything should scale pretty well, and no ability including from items should become obsolete because of poor scaling (but of course, some day some guy will point me exceptions...) 2) I've wondered a lot about the signature abilities of each class. This led to various changes. Spiritshift, Holy Radiance and Constant Recovery have all been made more central to the design of their respective class. I think Carnage has been restored as the backbone of Barbarian class, with a chance to interrupt with Crits that would remind people about good old Tall Grass builds from PoE1 (but still prevent degenerated combos with specific weapons or multiclasses). 3) I've evaluated the theoritical values of Monk wounds compared to other class ressources. This led to high level abilities costing more... and Shattered Pillars getting more. 4) Some subclasses tweak to make subclass more about doing their stuff. Better Imbued attacks vs worse Auto Attacks for Arcan Archer, more Corpse Eating for Corpse Eater. 5) BuGFixEs (including my own bugs)5 points

And now something little bit more positive. A one man made space strategy game very keen to realism - Falling Frontier. And it will be available on GOG as well... https://www.gog.com/en/game/falling_frontier3 points

Dont let it get you down BVC, its part and parcel for debating on this forum. I know youve been around for a while but heres a few protips of what you can expect: 1) Immediately, and vociferously, qq about any post, from any poster, that doesnt align with your viewpoints. If you remember nothing else remember this. 2) Always address the poster, not the post. Always. 3) Declare yourself the victor of the debate. 4) Failing #1 and #2, trot out a victim mentality. "<poster> aint being genuine!" 5) Its low hanging fruit, but labeling somebody an -ist.2 points

*blink* Wow. You don't even see the irony, do you? I mean, really? Are you, of all people, suggesting that the current Taliban owe the families of their victims from 21 years ago something? I mean, the sentiment is fair in general, it's just really something coming from a middle aged, rich and very white banker from South Africa who repeatedly and very loudly proclaims he's sick and tired of being told he's a colonial beneficiary with loads of white priviledge.2 points

Sometimes a side effect of "paragraphs" can be beneficial for the bystanders, even if wasted on the original poster. So, even if not hitting where it's needed the most, can still be beneficial to others. Edit: Bystanders being a better word than onlookers.2 points

This thread heavily begins to remind me of the time I was told that Saddam has the capacity to attack the United States with WMDs in a 45 minute timeframe, and if anyone was against military intervention in Iraq that it means you were okay with Saddam killing innocent Americans. By people who actually believed that stuff. #imminentrussianinvasion Barbarian hordes at the gate, take care. #therussiansarecoming #thistimeforreal #noreallyreallyforrealthistime #saddamputinisthenewhitler can we liek idk go back to beating kids, i can get behind easier!2 points

How about starting at the beginning? Chronologically? The Minsk Accord? The one that was supposed to guarantee the minority rights in eastern Ukraine and establish peace? (was one of those things Ms. Truss completely turned a deaf ear towards, peace is not interesting, only her ultimatums dictating what Russia can and can't do within it's borders). How about some constructive ideas that could've put Russia's mind at ease regarding western aggression (both militarily, economically and culturally)? Not worth mentioning at all, Russia has to move its troops elsewhere, where WE, the mighty UK are satisfied and they have to stay put there as long as we say... you get the gist. I'm mostly very, very disappointed in the performance of western diplomacy, the UK in particular, sending probably the single most inept individual they had to do a grown up's work. For heavens sake, if they don't have any skilled politicians, send a professional, like a career diplomat as a representative. What happened was a woman completely out of depth wasting hours of everybody's time, and worse, proving to the Russians, that the UK has no interest in peace or diplomacy at all.2 points

I haven't watched Boba Fatt but I can't escape seeing clips or stills of the show since some of my followed content creators make videos about it. Anyway, I just realized that Ming-Na Wen is 58 years old and it broke my brain. Are they using some CGI de-aging trickery on her? Is she a vampire? Does she drink a gallon of freshly squeezed infant blood every morning? How in the world does she look that amazing at 58?2 points

IMO the most effective punishment for kids is to deprive them of "things" and make them earn them back. When I was a kid my dad took away the Atari (for me) because of one thing I did or another. Probably a bad report card. My brother got to play but not me. That got my attention. Given the choice between that and a spanking which do you think was a bigger motivator? LOL this is a funny story though. My dad was an old school Southern Democrat Baptist blue collar guy. He made a joke of spankings long after they abandoned the practice. He'd say "Boy, go cut me a switch" whenever my brother and I did something foolish. In the southern US vernacular that means "go get a stick and bring it to me so I can whip you with it". Anyway, fast forward to when I was 18, leaving soon for the USMC and I'm helping him change the oil on our cars. I dropped the waste oil pan, made a hell of a mess. He joking said "Boy go cut me a switch". There was a fallen tree branch nearby. Big old oak branch. I must have weighed 80 lbs. I was 18, my dad early 50's. I picked that thing up and carried to him easily as can be and told him there you go if he could lift it! We laughed about that. He was a good man. I still miss him sometimes.2 points

I would love to see an update that adds a BURG.L unlock for TONS of furniture, environment and aesthetic items to the game. Some ideas include: -Berry leather floor pillows -Berry leather loveseat and couches -Mite fuzz or lint couches/loveseats - Sleeping bag out of mite fuzz/lint - plant fiber/woven lint hammock - Acorn Egg chair -stem tables, grand table (for superbuilds) -more lamps!! -lightning/ladybug night light -scarab chandelier that you can hang from higher ceilings -scarab wall lamps that can project a small rainbow or any color light -Refrigerator!! -low tables -woven lint/fuzz carpets/rugs or blankets that you can sit on - weed stem picnic table/bench -different styles of furniture out of different bugs I would love to see a tarantula added to the game as well, it adds so many upgrade options for poison, daggers etc. And it would be cool to make furniture out of hair you can harvest from them. I have so many more ideas and there’s so much potential with all of the bugs within the game already even if a few new furniture items were added it would be amazing to see.1 point

I've been playing Grounded since the beginning. Lot's of fun. After playing through Subnautica and No Man's Sky I was looking for something like those two. Grounded has many similarities I enjoy with those two titles plus new ideas that add a lot. So with that said I just have some feedback and ideas I'd like to share. I love base building and Grounded has a system that is really versatile so far. My suggestion to improve it would be adding a detached camera view for base building. This was something that was added to NMS and it really improved creativity and quality of life. Basically what happens is by hitting a button (maybe clicking in an analog stick) while in build mode, the camera can be freely flown around a build site within a certain range. When you're trying to place objects intricately, in high places, or trying to blueprint items in either situation, you don't have to physically place your character in a position to do so. It makes building a lot easier and takes away the tedium of trying to get in position instead of purely concentrating on your build. Certain building pieces don't connect in ways that would seem intuitive. An example of this is are the triangle pieces that connect in every way to each other except to make a square. That may seem arbitrary, but not only would it add additional aesthetic flair to be able to use two triangles in that manner, it would also allow more options in choosing to fill in gaps in flooring or roofing. Can we get some floor lights, or a way to cast more light across flooring that doesn't just necessitate placing light sources closer to the ground? The inventory system is nice and I like the hot key wheel. One thing that drives me nuts is my personal inventory constantly shifting depending on what I use and what I pick up. What I mean is I would like items that I pre-arrange in the bookbag to stay in those slots. The game has no pause and only so many hotkeys. Sometimes during while trekking I find myself in a situation where I have to find something vital that isn't hot-keyed and/or make an on the fly inventory decision concerning space. With things constantly moving it makes those moments more frustrating than fun. If I place something in the bag in a certain slot please leave it there. Can we make it so the in game aiming reticle is actually the center of my character? When building or aiming it seems the dot is not centered to my character in the third person view Now as for gameplay suggestions I have a few. Maybe these have been repeated elsewhere as have the above suggestions concerning building or the UI and inventory system. Apologies if that's so. Mounts. Training certain animals to be ridden, including Ladybugs who could help to haul wood stems and planks via the pallet and, my personal fav, Bee's. The idea of having a Bee mount that you could care for and take to flying around the map would be great. Considering that it has to carry you as well there could be a limit to how far it could go before its stamina runs low. Training and feeding your pet would give it more stamina, and in the case of the bees maybe you could unlock new maneuvers for it ( Do a barrel roll anyone?). You could also craft armor, saddles, saddle bags, bridles etc for these pets Wind gusts that you can learn to ride to get to parts of the map faster with whatever gliding tool you have. A wingsuit would be awesome as well. But just having wind gusts that appear at certain times of day in certain sections that can be ridden as ferries to particular places, would make exploration fun and introduce another wrinkle to the "learning the terrain" aspect that I really like about Grounded A cold biome in a cooler. Recently in the "Into the Woods" update, there is a mint box that you have to manually open. Maybe make it so the cooler at the picnic table has a similar but more complex mechanic and once you open it you have access to ice. There could be a mechanic that works like the sizzle for cold. I am sure Obsidian is already working on this. But chunks of ice would allow us to make a fridge to store food and keep it from spoiling. And maybe ice can be something that allows you to store more water when going to hot zones. Every biome should have a bug, which can be a problem with cold temps but there is the arctic midge. It's harmless to people but it looks absolutely terrifying, go check it out. Boats and rafts. I have my base on the lily pads and I even have a dock, but sadly no boats. It would be great to be able to construct a kayak or small rowboat to get around on the pond in style and allow me to ferry supplies like grass and wood stems from other places. It could open up a new series of perks and tools to acquire. Seafaring mutations. Anchors and oars to create. Kayaks and boats made out of lighter more durable material to create. A climb button would really be helpful. Even if it were contextual. Again I'm on the pond and getting out of the water onto a lilypad with the camera alone is sometimes an exercise that just isn't fun. Having my character just grab the edge of a surface to host themselves up in those situations would be a huge plus I'd love to see glass added as an item to build with. Glass and Quartzite. A city guy like me dreams of building a small hub of alluring downtown spaces that gleam in the sun to invite potential tiny consumers to buy my wares. Having skyscrapers made of metal and glass, or chic beach bungalows in a minimalist modern design would be great Lastly you can never have enough furniture options. Seriously one of the worst feelings in base building is having a huge space, or multiple rooms and buildings and very little to furnish them with. They end up barren. There are people who love carving their own miniature furniture pieces for doll houses and the like, and they fetch a lot of money for a reason. Please give us more recipes for furniture. Maybe even include a marketplace where people can build and sell their own unique pieces to other players for similar items or some other form of currency? That's all I got right now. Love the game, excited to see it grow and interested in any feedback or thoughts people have regarding any of these ideas.1 point

Nah just in my mind, at least then he kind of just hurried past before Vickers could start up. Ian is still a straight up guy, just may be a nit naive at least from not seeing how people might get angry over some far right merc's book being touted as non political.1 point

I'm back to my greasy breakfast ways: It's the standard greasy breakfast ingredients bacon, eggs, and potatoes along with some cheddar cheese because I happen to have some that I need to use up. Rather than have separate strips of bacon and eggs and tater slices, I just chop or grate everything and mix it together. I don't care about presentation when cooking for myself. It's tasty and it fills my belly, that's good enough for me.1 point

Ok where did we leave off? Iirc, obesity is greatly influenced by poverty, which is directly caused by the machinations of fatcats. But whats missing 100% of the time is any form of personal accountability. Thats because there isnt any to be had, haha tricked you! The only solution is money...loot...Benjamins...cha-ching...cold hard cash. My proposal is to provide every single person with UBI, which the obese can then use to purchase and prepare nutritional meals instead of McDonalds. After centuries of living under the fatcats rule it high time we seize their wealth and redistribute it. Just imagine what the CEO of McD earned last year! IT. AINT. FAIR. Honestly, is there anything that UBI wouldnt fix? I dont think so.1 point

aside: is not an excuse, but am gonna once again observe how we rare had admirable clients. first amendment cases happen at the margins. people rare comment 'bout just how openminded and reasonable is religious zealots and even cultists. everybody knows white supremacists is models o' intelligence, justice and decency. we dealt with the most loathsome and obtuse: strip club owners, gang leaders, teacher's unions. kidding 'bout the last one... mostly. every day needing champion the first amendment rights o' those who, if roles were reversed, woulda' happily trampled on the speech religion, press and association rights o' others, were exhausting. get a chance to respond to the smallminded and willful ignorant w/o needing be nice is refreshing. moving on... https://gregolear.substack.com/p/shame-cometh-the-jared-kushner-story During the early days of the pandemic, he set up a shadow task force to devise an appropriate response. When that task force gave him its recommendations—masks, contact tracing, federal coordination of supplies, etc.—he ignored them. The virus, he saw, was hitting the Blue States the hardest. It would help his father-in-law politically, he came to believe, if the pandemic continued to rage in those states. This way, his father-in-law could blame the governors of those states, who were all Democrats, for the escalating public health crisis, avoiding responsibility. So he decided to scuttle the plans given him by his own task force, and let the virus run amok. At the time, the states hit the hardest by covid-19 were New York, New Jersey, and California. New York: where he lived for years, where most of his friends lived. New Jersey: where he grew up, where his parents lived. California: where his brother lived. He was willing to let the populations of those states—home to his family and friends—get sick and die to help his father-in-law’s re-election prospects. Again: He was willing to let the populations of those states get sick and die to help his father-in-law’s re-election prospects. As of this writing, 904,000 Americans have died of covid-19. The unofficial number is well over a million. Most of those deaths could have been prevented, had he and his father-in-law not sabotaged the pandemic response. The grandson of Holocaust survivors allowed that mass death to happen. ... if true... HA! Good Fun!1 point

oh, we never had any notion o' changing the minds o' those obvious obtuse and intransigent. as @Gorth notes, the paragraphs is useful to speak to those who is less immovable but nevertheless possessing similar views. is impossible to use reason to change the mind o' somebody such as sharp_one who did not come to their conclusions through reason, but that don't mean there ain't others out there who nevertheless believe unreasonable and simple are unaware o' what is the actual law regarding 4th amendment issues or why increasing vaccination rates leads to a higher % of vaccinated people dying from covid-19. etc. also, and have mentioned this previous, we would block some o' the worst offenders o' obtuse, but the board software makes such impossible. in rl we had to always polite steer people to doing what was in their own best interest, even if they were self destructively ignorant; were kinda the worst part o' the job. those who abuse authority or those previous identified shmucks immune to reason who nevertheless feel the need to announce to the world how intransigent and ignorant they wish to be in spite o' any proffer o' facts is kinda representing an attractive nuisance to us. the whole Gromnir persona, +20 years past, were invented 'cause from our pov, too many o' the regulars on the bg2 boards were toolbags who seemed to find it amusing to mock "no00bs" and spout off 'bout things they clear weren't particular knowledgeable 'bout themselves. were cathartic for us to use the Gromnir bit to chastise folks we would need other wise placate in rl. like we said, if ignore were possible, we would use, 'cause as am getting older is less amusing to, "expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of (brutal) education," but am admitted quite happy to indulge when the worst offenders offer us the chance. "gonna make more use o' ignore 'cause chances are the next time we see somebody post something monumental asinine, am gonna comment. yeah, chances are we face some kinda sisyphean trial as we attempt to explain something which should be self evident, and no doubt we will need endure the comically retributive squeaks o' rage from those who feel wronged, but am petty enough to not be overconcerned, even if am agreeing with the general sentiment that is we should be more wary o' stoopid and angry. as such, where is possible, ignore is probable our best option." -- Gromnir, 28 dec 2021 am aware is petty, but we can live with such a burden. but again, trying to contribute at least something o' value... HA! Good Fun!1 point

Ladybird glider 3. Beetle glider 4. Butterfly/moth glider 5. Cape- works on principle of a squirrel's tale at players size1 point

Hang gliders can definitely be a step up from the current ziplines, ziplines force you to go from A to B and are expensive to setup, a hang glider would use up durability. Just like ziplines, the hang gliders would have a constant rate of descent that changes with the quality of the glider. lvl 1 -> Dandelion fluff, usefull for breaking a big fall lvl 2 -> The drink umbrella, character dangles, transported mainly by wind currents, a bit like Mary Poppins, it is somewhat controllable. lvl 3 -> Butterfly wing hang glider that allows you to travel a lot of distance and is controllable1 point

I never leave home without a Chanter so that would be no problem lol Only issue I see is that it seems like The Shield Cracks would be somewhat hard to reliably hit all the enemies Id be targeting…the range isnt enormous. And then Id have to start worrying about friendly fire from the Fireballs because enemies are up in my face by then (thats still a concern with imbue fireball, right?). You could work around this though for sure. My ‘opening barrage’ tactic for Imbue Fireball would kind of get lost in the mix if it takes too much setup to be viable, so was trying to set it up in a way that it was viable from the start of the fight and then I could get to the casting.1 point

Forbidden Fist wants high Resolve in order to keept the duration of any hostile effects extremely short. RES also contributes to deflection which the Wizard has an enormous potential for. And since stacking defenses gives increasing returns this is a nice synergy already. Use Tuotilo's Palm and you'll be tanky as hell. And if you mostly use Forbidden Fist attacks or other primary attacks (Force of Anguish, Torment's Reach, Skyward Kick) you won't lose any dps from the use of the shield but still get get dual wielding recovery speed. Then Sages are very potent in general. Mostly because the combination of either AoE weapon such as Spirit Lance + Stunning Surge, Efficient Anguish etc. is very good, but also because Wall of Draining prolongs all buffs on you, including Swift Flurry, Thunderous Blows, Clarity of Agony (great for a Forbidden Fist), Crucicle of Suffering (also great for a forbidden fist) and whatnot. Also the Wizard has some spells which have friendly fire - which usually are bad to step into, but as Forbidden Fist can give you wounds and healing galore. For example be resistant to DEX affclictions (like from being a wood elf or wearng an item with DEX resistance) and step into your own Binding Webs. You will get hobbled for very short amount of times and every time a hobble wears off you will get healing and a wound. Finally the Forbidden Fist attack enfeebles, which causes +50% duration of hostile effects on the enemy. This includes stuff like Fetid Caress (very strong single target disable in combination with Turning Wheel's +10 INT, which is +30% duration, and enfeebling with +50%). Add some power levels and land a crit - and the enemy might be paralyzed for over half a minute.1 point

Well I've managed to get offered a new job role, so that's kicking off in a couple of weeks. Surprisingly blah and neutral over it, there's nothing exciting about the work from what I can tell but it's work, it'll be providing income, and that lets me spend on hobby projects and bills and the like. Finished sewing up my Mando flight suit, sorting out various materials to make the flak vest before I return to the design of the armour. I want some reference shots of myself in flight suit and flak vest that I can set as background in Blender to make sure I'm getting sizing and proportions right. Once I start being fully happy with the armour design, I can check it with the QA team at the MandalorianMercs that it's all acceptable before starting to 3d print it. Dad's batch of radiotherapy had it's last day today. Now it's a little bit of wait, then scans and see what the doctor's say and whether surgery or a return to the start of chemo and more radiotherapy. And my sister apparently picked up Covid, so she's not coming around for a few weeks now.1 point

In alot of survival games a mount is allowed for the character. This should be the case for mid sized creatures. Some bugs would be to large to be used as a mount they could be a possible pack animal but riding would be difficult. The bugs cant be to small which would be a factor. Aquatic mount Boatman. While not a true mount it could be used like the seaglide from Subnautica. It shares it's bubble with you. Beware the koi as it will often kill this mount while targeting you. Aerial mount Firefly. It can walk and fly. You also can turn on the glow. Bonus points if when you walk up to it there is a brief light pulse like the unlocking of car via fob. Land mounts Soldier Ant. Has the ability to move faster. Front chop action for cutting lv2 red lv3 black. While riding you can enter respected mounds without hostility. Larvae. Straight forward mount. You can order it to dig and hide to avoid it getting hurt. Front bite is level 1 chop Bombardier. Has a lob of blister fluid it can shoot. You can charge this to create a targeting reticle like mortar rounds. Orb weaver Jr. Allows to shoot a web. Since they included the ability for them to climb we you can use this to climb vertically however there is a cool down of 1 in game hour before it's two rounds recharge. He is a baby after all. That's it while I love the idea of a ladybug and a bee those are just to large compared to the player. They seem to be a better use as a caravan or wagon puller.1 point

I offer 2 types of electric generator for further use with electrical equipment (illumination, protection, etc.): chemical and mechanical. Chemical (produces a little energy and eventually irretrievably fails) is collected from acid (apple or ant), a container (like an ant egg) and metal contacts (by then it may be possible to tear off a piece of copper wire in the shed). Mechanical (generates more energy, but constantly requires fuel) is assembled from acorns, stems, lubricating fluid and is a wheel into which you launch tamed insects that need to be constantly fed.1 point
-
Although crafting should be in several stages: first, separate parts of the generator are crafted, and then the electricity generator itself is assembled from them.1 point

Based on the article, he isn't terribly picky and likes younger men too. Yeah, its a vast scale to think of the events he 'lived' through (even though generally speaking he wasn't actually there, its just that's a lot of history). I also thought it was fascinating (dunno if it was this article, or another I read on him) that the reason so many of these Tortoises were given as gifts is they were easy to keep alive and they were stackable. the idea of a ship's hold stacked with turtles is just wild.1 point

I really want to be able to fight the Mini-Boss ( Assistant Manager) again, sort of like how we can fight the Boss (the Broodmother) again. It is a cool battle but don’t want to need to start over just to fight it again. I don’t know how many people want this though.1 point
