  1. I forgot that the yanks don't use the same octane rating as we do, we use the Research Octane Number, while they use a sort of median called AKI, subtract like 4-6 depending on mood for their octane rating That's actually a brilliant idea! The irony of imperial being defined by metric though is Also, no, no you can't fit 4 people plus driver comfortably in a Focus, I can't comfortably fit in the rear seat of one Yeah, aslong as you don't accidentally use the wrong gallon, there's like 3 different ones? There's one measurement of liters, and that's a liter :p

  5. According to Wikipedia, in real units (how fitting that we were just talking about those), that's 105.6 MJ, or 29.3 kWh per therm. Hmm, time to look at my gas bill. Hold on a second. 3.32€ per "therm", convert to USD at current rate... we're at 3.74$ per therm, give or take a few cent. Yeah, tell you what, let's swap energy prices and I'll happily adopt your Imperial fantasy measurements where a yard is the length of a man's belt, any part of my thumb is an inch and my foot like a, uhm, foot long... and all cups are the same size so they can be used to measure cooking ingredients. edit: By the way, I know there are also a lot of practical reasons for keeping the regular measurements, but there have been attempts to change it and even swapping road signs lead to protests it really just comes across as "We 'Murica, so we do our own thing!" by now. Honestly though, I don't doubt you'd find a whole lot of people who would give a reason like that when asked why not to switch, next to claims that Imperial measurements are simply "natural" (maybe they once were or I have supremely long thumbs, but not one part of it is an inch... no way) or something. I think the last time a man's belt was a yard long was when the yard was devised. Mostly good natured polemic.

  6. We teach metric and imperial, but since everything in the US still uses imperial, that's what tends to stick for people. Personally I measure my fuel in kilograms, so I've gone metric. Hydrogen is the future!

  7. Pointing out the logical flaws in the right-wing bible pounders arguments isn't going to work because they fundamentally do not care about being hypocrites. I live in a place these folks control and I can tell yall right now they will throw that sanctity of life stuff out the window the second it comes to empowering the state to execute people or holding business accountable for wrecking someone's life. They're a bunch of ghouls who should never be given the benefit of the doubt.

  8. Every time I see someone invoke the invisible sky fairy with the long beard and a several thousand year old, many times mistranslated book of fables from primitive savages who thought the wind was the breath of God my eyes almost roll back into my head. It's about time we change freedom of religion into being free of religion.

  9. I'm agree with you, although CP give a better sound to the spell, ability point is precious for cipher since they have great actives and passives to get.. If I remember correctely, the self-buff work even when the ennemy resist to the affliction, and under Parasite Time effect it is easy for Ascendant to spam some Wild Leech on the target that is right. For inspirations, exepted for Aware and Resolute, the only way to get Quick (Nimble with CP) for SC cipher is Hastening/Zealous Exhortation from a Paladin, and other inspirations from a Priest. So, with CP, this spell is nice for some independance. There is a way to get "full "buff from deception draining spells even against solo enemy, like Dragons or Megabosses, but it is tedious actually : first, the cipher have to be confused, then Parasite Time and others spells will target party members. when that is done, everybody is slowy and "borrowed", a Brilliant priest need to cast Supress Affliction on the team. Hostiles effects are suspended, still count as beneficial effect for the cipher as long they are suspended (Salvation of Time). I personnaly prepare my cipher before the fight, with Sap or Fugue Spores from Squid's Grasp with Calmo's Curse (-50 defenses is nasty). Of course, I switch the weapon before the begining of the fight!

  10. Haha, the latest Conan Exiles update is why I started playing Subnautica, as it broke my private servers something fierce for quite a few days Fact that they released the patch while I was messing with the docker image didn't help, of course, so wasn't entirely clear whether the breakage was mods, or my changes. Found this server tuning guide that improves quite a few aspects. Especially looking forward to how combat will feel, especially once the server's been running for a while (got really "NPCs teleport around"-y for me after a week or so. Then usually crashes with out of memory). I imagine much of it is applicable to single player too (since it just runs the server locally), though performance might be a consideration depending on the gaming hardware (one of the reasons I started running my server on a separate machine in the first place) Currently building a massive base/city in Siptah. Really enjoying the changes they made to the Island after the beta. It's also kind of interesting how things sort of make sense from a continuity perspective even if you played before these major changes that added the NPC camps etc. As for Subnautica:

  11. grease and glitterdust are two of the best spells in the game and they remain useful until act vi. however, you need apply both the heighten and selective metamagic feats to get use from them past the early levels. shield, mirror image and barkskin is gonna be regular casting options from start until well into late game. we have archers using hurricane bow and sense vitals the entire game. etc. there is numerous useful lower level spells. the thing is there is a whole lotta pathfinder spells we would never use and quite a few spells which eventual become useless, but unless you know pathfinder and owlcat's take on pathfinder, is improbable you know which spells and feats and weapon categories is worthwhile and which is bloat. HA! Good Fun! ps owlcat decided creatures who is able to fly is immune to prone, including prone effects from grease. however, not all creatures who is capable o' flight in pnp and/or have visible wings are immune to wotr prone. as such am gonna suggest owlcat actual is a bit more generous with stuff such as grease than would be the ordinary pnp gm who needs ref encounters with high cr foes. be thankful for this fact when fighting the ubiquitous endgame gallu warmongers. converse, in pnp it often feels as if every high level pathfinder spellcaster is flying and a significant % o' cr+12 critters is otherwise capable o' flight... a situation made worse by the fact archers tend to suck in pnp pathfinder with the exception o' inquisitors.

  12. Excepted for Beguiler! But it is not a bug, Cipher's spells are about somebody else spirit, not their own ; they can model their target's mind for the best and worst with Ancestor Memory or Puppet Master, and can drain what they found inside, with Time Parasite or Wild Leech. So it is normal that entierely depend of the target mind I think. You can extend the buffs with Enfeebled or Frostfall's Dispersed Suffering on the target ; that have more sense to me that Salvation of Time, it is not a selfbuff. (With Frosfall and Kitchen stove, a Thunderous Report on an army of skeletons near ennemies that are drained transform the env. 15 or 20s buff into a 60 or 80s one, after that each new skeleton killed by the cipher will grow up exponentialy the duration, like for SoF.)

  15. Re-evaluation of Expeditions: Rome The tooltips continue being bad and the tutorial pop up information straight up wrong. Archery continues being overpowered. If you have high ground. The legion combat mini-game is meh and extremely random, without tactical choices having any true, predictable impact. The battles have 4 phases: Forming up for the fight, two complications, and a conclusion. At the start of each phase you pick one of three random stratagems from a pool of stratagems for that phase. These have various effects such as increasing your legion's defense or aggression, increasing survival rate of casualties, outright killing enemy troops (and sacrificing some of yours to do so), as well as how the fight ends (chase down fleeing enemies, plunder corpses, do a last stand...). You also assign a centurion as commander for the fight and his skills and perks will affect things. Reloading the battle will give completely different outcomes. The same centurion who before had a survival chance of 69% and no chance to get any loot, may suddenly have a 100% survival chance and great loot chance. You may have already effectively beaten the enemy, so go complete defensive in the second complication to mitigate your casualties and end up with an additional 500 dead, when a stratagem that actually sacrificed legionarii has you lose a quarter of that. It is meant to represent the chaotic, unpredictable nature of combat, but it breaks immersion once you realize that you do not have to use any tactics, instead just quicksave before the battle then click random buttons and load until you get a desirable outcome (few casualties and a common loot chest (the higher two tiers of loot chests are actually not worth it)). While you are traveling on the map random events will trigger. Some are good, some are bad. Some are good in the effect they have for you, such as giving you loot, some are bad in the effects they have for you, such as injuring party members. Some are bad in how they are conceived. A random event that gives you a choice of ignoring the slavers, buying slaves from the slavers or attacking the slavers, is a good event as it is interesting. An event where you just read some text about happening upon a temple and getting a blessing from the priest is a bad event, because it is simply a wall of text to give you a boost. An event that gives you a wall of text to describe that while crossing a river a companion slipped and broke their arm is very bad - it simply interrupted your gameplay experience to give you a penalty. An event that has a pack of foxes raid the camp of armed soldiers, and even injure a praetorian... seriously? Are game devs competing into how much idiocy they can cram into their brains before gamers call them out on the sheer stupidity? That said, if you are into Expeditions, it is a good "Expeditions" experience. Miles ahead of Vikings. While the legion gameplay is meh, having that legion gives you a proper expedition feel - you are not just a glorified adventuring party. The premise, inserting your character into the historical what if timeline isn't bad. And they tried to get it all historically accurate. The voice acting is often bad. Any non-roman characters were just given the brief: "Sound foreign. We don't care what that accent is supposed to be, as long as it sounds foreign." This is jarring at times. For Archelaus and the random Greek soldiers I had to turn the sound off. But without VO, the game improves a lot. I read somewhere that the game starts with the worst part of the game. This may be true. Especially the first fights are meh. I disagree with a reviewer who waxed on about how amazing map designs are for other battles after the first. Though I have to admit they tried to make some fights stand out. So: The game tries to do a lot of things. It tries to learn from the mistakes made in Vikings. It is definitely a better game than Vikings. So if you inexplicably thought Expeditions: Vikings was a good game worth your time, the only reason you shouldn't play Rome is a rare allergy to all things Roman. Or having better things to do with your life, like playing board games with your children. If like me you weren't a fan of Vikings, possibly wait for a sale. While it tries to do a lot of things, somehow the devs manage to not get anything really right or at least enough things not right enough to create this impression. They tried to get Bruce interested in the game and have added companion romance options. They have also tried to lure LadyCrimson, by having a sidequest involving cats. There is even an early game over involving cats. They really tried to make this game special. And if you look past the early game and hear past the voice acting for the Greeks, it shows.

  16. If it's a single-class Ascendant (don't recommend multiclassing) you can just spam Time Parasite and get incredible action speed -- the buff stacks, and I believe you can also drain the same enemy multiple times.

  18. The what? I can't even remember when 89 octane gas was sold here. Certainly not in this millennium. edit: You can fit four people into a Ford Focus if you really need to, I have no witty retort for the towing ability, paranoia and penile extension. Yep. Sounds about right. But yeah, gas is pretty expensive in Sweden. Word. I think the UK should simply demand royalties or taxes for the US' use of the Imperial system, they'd adapt metric in no time.

  20. Only on weapon kill, yes, and Thunderous Report is from weapon ! That work with every hostile effect and buff that depend of these hostile effects. Frostfall is my favorite weapon When the hostile effect is prolonged but not the beneficial one that is "linked", then that mean you can extend it with Salvation of Time, it is not truly linked. Cipher's deception buffs are mostly "linked" stuffs : Vampiric Shield, Body Attunement, Wild Leech, Borrowed Instinct and Time Parasite work like that.

  25. I'm back at Conan Exiles. I decided to strip out all my mods and start a new game fresh. Funcom has done a good job of implementing a lot of quality of life stuff since I last played it plain. Just having fun in single player mode and starting my new empire from the ground up. I have more hours in this game than anything else I have ever played.

  26. Interesting, I never make Tekehu as a single class Chanter simply because I enjoy using his unique Druid anilities. That said of course he has his unique Chanter ones too so its not like its a waste. My problem with Aloth as a Rogue-Wizard is the synergy only seems to go one way…although actually as Im writing this, I assume deep wounds actually would apply to a number of Wizard spells too, so I guess its not completely one sided. Fighter bonuses seem to apply more consistently to spells though, which I find a bit more fun. Ive considered going single class Monk with Xoti, its just so hard for me to pass up Blessed Harvest…I love that spell lol. I can definitely see her subclass working amazing as a SC monk though.

  27. if you want power creep, make xoti single-class monk, get ajumaat's stalking cloak, and spam whispers of the wind in fights (backed up by dance of death for wound regen). she'll be a one-woman fighting machine. she can basically bring down one of the megabosses by herself without much effort (hauane o whe). [her monk subclass is a bit meh but is actually really useful in this setup because each kill will give you a burst of wounds to help instantly funnel more whispers of the wind] if you want ascendant to go full Goku, get Salvation of Time on a priest. It requires a bit of paying attention, but once you get ascended, spam salvation of time on your cipher a few times and just toss out all your top damage and shred spells (death by 1000 cuts + a multi-hit shred power like mental blades or antipathetic field, tons of amplified wave [or silent scream or mind wave for more death by 1000 cuts synergy]). make sure you have real good dexterity and try resting with rum or rymsjogga lager for extra speed.

  28. So Portuguese politics time! Portugal is a small European country right next by to Spain. We like to call ourselves the third world country of western Europe. We are your standard western Europe economy but with really, really low wages. We have a social safety net of sorts, a national health service that is terrible but still saves a lot of people that would otherwise die. We are permanently in debt and in some economic crisis. We were a fascist dictatorship until 1974, and since then we've been a fairly stable democracy with more or less always the same parties with seats in our parliament. There used to be four parties. The center left PS (Socialist Party), the center right PSD (Social Democratic Party), the left PCP (Portuguese Communist Party, more for workers' rights, especially manual laborers), and the right CDS (Democratic and Social Center, more Catholic). Anyway, as a reference for Americans all the parties to the left of CDS, are leftie pinko parties to you. Now those two more moderate parties, PS and PSD, have always been the parties of power with much larger voter bases, but they have slowly been losing their majorities, as the spectrum has become more fragmented. Now this fragmentation has been the story in the 21st Century. The first new party to show up was BE( the Left Bloc), a party about as left as PCP but more tailored for middle class office workers, and more focused on social issues(abortion, drug legalization, euthanasia, LGBTQ+ rights) than worker rights. They were a big success in the 00s, and overtook PCP as the more left force of note in parliament. There are now more left parties in contention(like PAN, the Animals and Nature Party, or Livre (Free, like a new upstart BE). However, in more recent years it was the right that got more fragmented. The more important party of that change was Chega(Enough), a party( actually essentially a single confidence man, playing the con of his life) trying and succeeding to leverage "economic" concerns, where "economic" means taking away the social safety net, complaining about the Roma, and stealthily longing for the Fascist days. It's the Portuguese version of the extreme right party that now exists in about every Western country. You know, Neo-Nazis pretending they are not because they have better haircuts and suits. One other right party that has now become of note is IL (Liberal Initiative). Basically upper middle class twits of the year. They studiously avoid the more terrible topics of Chega, but still have idiotic proposals that screw over the poor like a flat income tax(15% for everyone). I'm not sure if they earnestly believe in it or if they are just using it as talking point for the gullible. Now for the current situation. So the last Legislative elections had given a limp minority mandate to PS, as seemed increasingly inevitable. In order to have a proper majority in parliament and the ability to govern, PS struck an unwieldy left leaning deal with PCP, BE and PAN. This generally meant that, for the government not to lose its mandate, PS has to convince the 3 smaller parties to go along with their budget, which is approved in parliament. if not the government would consider to have lost its mandate, and the President would have to call new elections. This is exactly what happened in December. Specifically PCP and BE felt betrayed by PS's budget proposal, and voted against it. So we got these elections yesterday. PS said they wanted an absolute majority(very low likelihood), PSD just wanted to beat PS(very low likelihood), Chega and BE wanted to beat each other, while CDS and PCP were simply trying to survive. Every other party just wanted to take as many seats as they could, however few. So, what happened yesterday, exactly? Well, going into election day yesterday, polling predicted a small minority for PS, and a dead heat between BE, Chega, IL, and PCP(maybe). Small margins meant anything could happen! Well, not quite, it turns out. PS got their wished for absolute majority, PSD was pummeled across the country, Chega won handily against their rivals, becoming the third political force in Portugal(xenophobes gonna xenophobe, of course), IL became the fourth political force(huge surprise), BE came fifth in votes, sixth in actual seats (enormous defeat( lost like half of their seats), PCP got 6 seats. PAN and Livre got single seats. CDS lost every single seat so they are deader than a door nail(someone literally left a wreath at their HQ last night, lol). So the real winner was PS of course. They were the only ones who got everything they wanted, and got like the first absolute majority of the past 15 years. António Costa, their leader and PM is very competent and a leader who leads, but also a snake oil salesman, who still abides corruption as is standard in Portugal. But at least we don't have an also rampantly corrupt, "fascist delusions" PSD/Chega/IL government. Chega won the battle of the also rans. It just caters really well to terrible people. IL really knew how to target their niche too, apparently. TLDR: Moderate left PS won the election, retaining their mandate but now with a juicy absolute majority. Everything else is going to the dogs.
