A post on the subject of Trump and what it means for the U.S. going forward I just read and came by to post (although it's probably too long that most people won't bother...but I think they should if they're at all concerned with the growing fascist movement in the U.S.): If the wheels are not already currently in motion to nail Donald J. Trump, by whatever legals means possible, by whatever parties capable of doing so, then I don't even know what to say, except that I very much fear 2024. Trump is one of a very few people whose sudden death I would feel a palpable sense of relief for due to the risk he poses to all that is sacred in our little democracy, and never mind the rest of the world.4 points

keep in mind that Gromnir has been expressing disbelief so many could shrug off trump excesses since the moment 45 advocated a muslim ban. death by a thousand cuts? quick cuts. the normalization o' American extremism happened far quicker than we coulda' imagined outside a nightmare scenario requiring a world war or continent spanning calamity. sure, there were genuine trump supporters on these boards who with full awareness forgave trump his sexual indiscretions and overt corruption 'cause 45 were the last and best hope for unborn children facing abortion and 'cause the dems were missionaries o' the apocalypse. am suspecting a few o' those folks is still 'round but they got kinda quiet after the election and they all but disappeared post january 6. whatever. not much possibility for dealing with folks who respond to any criticism o' trump's violations o' rule o' law and human decency as an existential crisis. the folks we were genuine disappointed with were the, "it wouldn't be any better with hillary," crowd. ... whatever. point is every step o' the way, as trump normalized the previous unthinkable, we shouted for people to wake up from their stupor. all too often our comic repeated cassandra play were met with same relative indifference we now see regarding january 6. am now told that january 6 were indeed unfortunate, but were it really any worse than the summer protests? we should all just move on 'cause no good will come from investigations or prosecutions and is not like this could happen again in two or four years, yes? for the past four years have have been having same conversations regarding each new improbable excess. the fact we keep being rebuffed with indifference until we somehow reached the point where people were shrugging off the unmarked vans in portland kidnapping protesters and an actual gawd be damned insurrection at the Capitol meant to stop the peaceful transfer o' power from 45 to biden should be a wake up call... but muslim bans weren't so perhaps is Gromnir being obtuse for not accepting the inevitable, eh? HA! Good Fun!3 points

Related but maybe not relevant… I recall a discussion between @Boeroerand @Raven Darkholme about an obscene SC Cipher using Watershaper’s focus with an absurdly beefed up Shared Nightmare, destroying everything with Ondra Wrath procs. Raven might have made a video. Just for food for thoughts. Can’t find it now but can dig it up tomorrow if that’s of any interest.2 points

IMO DS1 is the most special out of those three so you definitely should. DS1 is one of those games everyone should give a go, I think. Even if it won’t be your cup of tea, it’s one of a kind experience. Personally I didn’t find DS1 as punishing as it’s reputation would suggest. I mean you will die, but I never found it frustrating, tedious or discouraging (as DS2 felt). Once you get a hang of the game, feel free to google or ask around - there some some important mechanics, that IMO don’t get explained properly. EDIT. If stuck, summons (be it NPC of friendly players) is DS version of easy mode. To my great shame I did “skip” one tough boss fight through an assist of a more competent player. Need to go back to DS1 and do it all proper.2 points

Difficult to say, but sure looks like it. Maybe it will live up to the opening Metroidvania feel of DS1. I finally got around to starting DS3 for real. Still Sekiro to be played, and considering I generally need a decent break after each DS it might be a while till I get to ER. DS3 isn't too punishing so far, though. Feels almost relaxing after asswooping that was DS2.2 points

not sure how many times we need correct you on the muslim ban. the ban which were final enacted after going through the courts is not material. the point is trump were advocating a muslim ban, and people were cheering. this were BEFORE trump became President and the announcement revealed his willingness to embrace bigotry and extremism to further his political fortunes. truth to tell, this were the moment trump seperated himself from the other republican candidates, all of whom condemned trump's muslim ban promise. this were the moment trump won the republican nomination even if few recognized the significance at the time. 'course this announcement were not the first warning sign trump were unfit for office, but the fact americans did not rise up en masse to denounce trump is what is most telling in retrospect. trump warned us all what he was and what he would attempt to do once given power, and too many americans shrugged with indifference while others f'ing applauded. serious though, am not revisiting this bit o' bruce intransigence in the future. Some early thoughts on Chernobylite: The game is not exactly what I expected. It's part first person... adventure, I guess, and part management game. After the prologue you have a base which you can furnish. There is a building system where you can craft stations, gear, furniture, etc. You can the put these wherever you want. The basic gameplay loop is that you assign people to go on missions, including yourself. There is a chance of success indicated by a percentage based on a number of factors, except for you since chance of success is obviously determined by gameplay. You start with 1 other person, Olivier, and you can recruit more as you go along. People can die on missions or depending on your choices (supposedly there are multiple endings). You complete missions to satisfy prerequisites for the main mission, which is to enter the plant, and to get supplies. You need to assemble a crew and get intel and gear to do the main mission. The game so far is quite light on combat, which is fine with me. Radiation has been the biggest threat for me. There is a time travel mechanic. When you die you return to this sort of nether world where you can return to things you did previously and change choices if you wish. Chernobylite is not what I thought it would be, but I'm enjoying it so far. The environments are very immersive, both visually and especially audibly. The sound design in the game is top notch. Don't expect a shooty shooty action game, though.2 points

I think it's more likely that Trump's diet and hatred of exercise end up killing him than him spending a day in prison. Moreover, even if Trump doesn't run for president in 2024, Trump will run for president in 2024 by virtue of almost every likely nominee aping him so not even his death will spare us. This is going to be the new normal from now on, with increasingly outlandish conspiracy theories and bigotry being the baseline in a party that will control about half of the federal government and probably a majority of state governments, and the party that controls the other half will be ****ing useless at stopping either the fascist creep or the impending climate apocalypse.1 point

haven't seen the episode, but ordinarily the issue is cost. no insurance or wrong insurance means you gotta pay. we all know 'bout how if you ain't insured you gotta pay for emergency room services, yes? many thousands o' dollars. call for an ambulance and 911 dispatch sends a private ambulance service to your home, service not covered by your provider. what then? maybe get charged thousands o' dollars for a trip o' a few miles. the thing is, if you are unconscious or unable to call 911 and somebody else calls for the ambulance you still get charged. https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/385710/Opinion_Ass_Effect__Whats_really_behind_the_Miranda_Lawson_freakout.php I had to post this after our last discussion about the normal admiration for Mirandas voluptuous figure So its a really objective discussion about this question. Its also written by a lady which is important, I dont think keeping Miranda in the same way is about objectification. Since when did admiring someone become a negative ....but we all have our own views But here is what another person wrote, it sounds clever but I am not sure I understand what point she is making? Philosopher Martha Nussbaum argues quite persuasively that real objectification lies in what she calls fungibility--a kind of interchangability. The objectified body is not necessarily sexy, but deindivudated, and therefore fungible with any other body or body-part. Individuality and identity are lost.1 point

then shoulda' left there, yes? cherry picking like some alt-right radio host does you no favors. most o' the georgia changes is indeed innocuous or even common sense, though identify as "ballot harvesting" is a bit loaded and is a mischaracterization o' what actual were the legal practice. genuine ballot harvesting were already illegal in georgia via a 2019 law. the 2019 law changed so only a close family member could deliver and/or mail. etc. the problem with the georgia law is the other stuff not mentioned by conservative radio hosts. am thinking gd should first self educate a bit. aside, given how republican state and local election functionaries were treated by their party for doing their legal duty in 2020, is it more or less likely that their inevitable replacements would do same in 2024? as for meekly acquiescing, you seem to have done so. Capitol riot? meh. an investigation o' said riot? meh. 40% (38.6% to be exact) believe the january 6 insurrection were no biggie or were a patriotic act. nevertheless, you are certain that if trump had succeeded, the folks on the other side o' the fence woulda' risen up en masse and rejected the authoritarian power grab. why? trump buried an ig report on his ukraine activities and pardoned folks who could be called as witnesses against him in a future criminal trial. trump pressured a foreign government to investigate a political rival. trump refused to comply with Congressional demands for records and witnesses as part o' an impeachment. trump ignored spending power o' Congress on multiple occasions. turns out trump also prevented the fbi from following up on leads regarding now Justice Kavanaugh while the nomination were being deliberated by the senate. the aforementioned jeffery clark were almost acting ag 'cause trump abused the already questionable temp appointment power. oh, and again, how many folks rose up in response to trump sending federal troops to states w/o the consent o' state legislatures or governors, troops who attacked people on public state thoroughfares and kidnapped protesters using masked agents and unmarked vans. etc. four freaking years taught us just how meek is american patriots. ps we have been told, innumerable times, they is all bad. so what does it matter if biden won the election or trump stole it? doesn't matter 'cause they are all corrupt, yes? ain't worth fighting for or against any politician 'cause ultimately it makes no difference. is no wonder we see such apathy to Constitutional and humanitarian violations. if is not "me or mine," if is not my chainsaw, then it don't matter 'cause there is nothing worth fighting for when all the alternatives is bad... but not bad enough apparently.1 point

Such abilites are especially useful when you use a reloading weapon - you don't need to wait for reloading to finish in order to move away. You just cancel the reload and go. With other weapons you'd have to wait for recovery to end and than can already be too late. With those weapons I prefer immunity to engagement (or immunity to disengagement attacks) and Boots of Speed because you can always walk away at any time.1 point

I only recorded full gameplay for Act 1, because the views steadily declined, after that I only recorded boss fights and the harder bounties. This should take you to the first video in the playlist:1 point

Video game companies turn many of their games into real "gruyere cheese", because of the holes they leave, I mean Do you have a complete gameplay of your video with your character "I like cheese"? I like to watch gameplays, to see how people play, you also learn Every time I see the video of MaxQ with cipher, naked against the alpine dragon... you have to see it to believe it, personally I find it a feat1 point
-
It has been called "cheese" since I remember on Gamebanshee forum in the early 2000s. Then it was Baldur's Gate "cheese"1 point
-
I can only guess, I didn't invent the term. It's mostly used when you trick the game, either by abusing bad AI or bug exploits or in multiplayer games just by repeating the same broken strat over and over with the hope people don't find counterplay. Since people very often also like to say "stinky cheese" I would think thats where the term comes from, you keep repeating smth broken and "old/stinky" but theres nothing the game can do to counter it.1 point
-
Omg, now I understand why in 3 or 4 occasions I could cast 2 invocations of that type in a row, I thought "I did something that allowed me to use it 2 times, I don't know what it is but it was good for me" Well, we'll see how it goes without those few points of deviation, as a preference I prefer not to use it, but it's good to know how it works hehe, out of curiosity, why do you call these little bugs "cheese"?1 point
-
If you want to not respec and go low res early acts, you may wanna consider using this cheese:1 point
-
Ooook, understand, well, I don't usually do respec, so the attributes I put at the beginning, will be the definitive ones, I think I'll do another run with chanter leaving resolve out, DEX and RES to the minimum, everything else to MIG, CON, PER and INT, maybe I won't throw away all RES, but at least 4 or 5 points to give them to CON. Thanks for the advice, I think this game will be more interesting, the lack of fortitude defense and the lack of life in some long fights (like Brynlod especially) made some fights complicated, not many, but I had a few attempts in those few fights that were complicated, the lack of life was a handicap in the longest ones, those extra points in CON will come in handy for that and for the fortitude defense. I'm definitely not ready for the Triple Crown challenge yet, but I will be when I get a solo and no deaths1 point
-
But resolve brings to increase the deflection, I thought that the deflection was something vital for this type of chanter in which you play alone and you want to avoid as many hits as possible no? If it is not so vital, then it is worth taking some points away from resolve to give them to CON and leave the PER maximized, which is what I consider ideal, maybe 6 or 7 points less of resolve are not so relevant, it would be like 6 or 7 points less of deflection, I think I could live without that, even though I also lose more defense at will.1 point
-
Personally I maxed it, that being said your summons don't profit from your per and will be your main dmg vs brynlod. I guess you could respec just for that one fight, but neiter dex nor resolve will give you any edge whatsoever, so why even take points out of per, the fight will still be slow or even slower.1 point
-
And as for my doubt about perception and accuracy? if with 24/5 perception (counting equipment and buffs) my hit chance on some enemies is less than 15% even (in advanced game), is it feasible to put 14 or 15 perception instead of 18 base? as I see it, it would lower more my chance to hit the enemies, it would be as not recommended to lower perception. Using Blacsonn is an option, but I don't like the negative part of using it, my biggest problem with enemies in the advanced game is that my hit probability to hit enemies is very low having 24 or 25 perception and using potion and parchment to increase precision, something doesn't work for me (This is in the case of chanter, although with wizard it was quite similar).1 point
-
LLengrath is incredibly easy with a chanter, because you can abuse the withdraw shield to kill off the mages and after that it's smooth sailing Brynlodd definitely is a very hard fight for chanters but u gotta remember that besides chanting you have billion other tools and ofc summons. Here's how I did those fights on my ultimate, been a long time so it probably wasn't even the best strategy, but it worked so I'll take it:1 point
-
You could become a Blacsonn user: + 3 Perception + 25 Defense against Groundattack - 2 Dexterity https://pillarsofeternity.fandom.com/wiki/Pillars_of_Eternity_drugs The bonus to ground effects might allow a scroll strategy to help like Tanglefoot on top of yourself. Hobbled from tanglefoot: -2 Dexterity -20 Reflex -3 Move Speed Allows a rogue's Sneak Attack Maybe there's an even better ground effect to make them easier to hit. Example - deflection or whatever defense the Dragon Threshed or whatever the important Damage per Second is...1 point
-
What really bothers me, in this case I'm talking about the chanter, is that in the advanced game, you find enemies that even using potion and/or scrolls to increase your accuracy, you find that some enemies you have a 9, 12, 15% chance of hitting them, even after having used potion and scroll to boost your accuracy... In my run with only chanter in POTD that I did recently, I had a really hard time with some fights, actually there were 2 fights that for me, were the 2 hardest fights of the whole game (base game and DLCs), it was the fight against Llegranth and the Brynlod bounty hunter fight, specially the Brynlod fight, that fight was the real green hell of Rambo for me hahaha The problem was that despite having 18 base perception, plus equipment and bonus, which put me with 24 or 25 perception, and taking potion and parchment to enhance my accuracy, and without being flanked, I could still see how my probability of success was less than 10%, rarely above 10%, I missed too much, the fight was too long in time and my life bar decreased to limits incompatible with life, basically xD (I had to make 4 or 5 attempts, maybe 6, until I managed to defeat the whole Brynlod group.) I had thought about doing another build for chanter that would consist of lowering perception more and increasing CON, something like this: As preference - Pale elf - Old vailia MIG 18 CON 14 DEX 4 (the minimum for Pale Elf) PER 14 INT 18 RES 10 Basically, take 4 points off PER (in my other game it was PER 18 and CON 10) to give it to CON and have a little more survival(Essentially to increase fortitude, but also to increase stamina and life for long fights), but here is where I see the problem, if with 18 PER I had such a low % chance to hit, with 14 this is impossible then? am I missing something? the chants and summons (like Seven Nights) of a chanter also depend on your accuracy no? if 18 of perception already meant me to see a 15% or less chance to hit some enemies, I don't see feasible to lower the perception to 14, however there are people who do it playing SOLO, there is something that escapes me here hehe1 point
-
I wouldn't call resting less very efficient with a wizard. You can nuke most fights in a matter of seconds and you get to take 2 camping supplies with you, so you probably get close to as far, as with dragging rests out by simply resting after each fight, especially if you can pull several mobs together and nuke them with aoes. Besides that doing three very fast fight and then go get supplies will be much faster then dragging those fights out, even with the combined time of having to go get supplies and for most people efficiency is also related to time spent. With classes like chanter and paladin it's very different, chanter has almost no per rest abilities, paladins most important one is per encounter. To an extent the same is true for barbarians but the classic nuke barb will need to rest for hp soon, unless you spam potions.1 point
-
Sure, later you can get away with fewer rests - because of spell mastery but also because certain gear and abilities/talents can counter the Wizard's weak starting values. But as a solo wizard you'll have to rest a lot in the early to mid game if you want to avoid a ton of kiting and pulling. I mean compared to a Paladin or something. Even Barbs have to rest a lot in the early game despite their big health pool. Mostly because their deflection is so poor that low health forces a rest often. Chanters, too - because their initial health pool is quite small and their defenses not good enough (yet). Of course you can prevent that with certain tactics. But the question is what's more tedious? Trying to avoid resting by kiting, pulling to chokepoints etc. or simply rest more often?1 point
-
Not necessarily, I restrict the breaks as much as I can, and with the wizard for example I have learned to make the most of the uses of the magics and the health bar, I have gotten into combats having the health bar in red, if I have run out of uses to use Infuse With Vital Essence, I have used its equivalent in potions, this has made me dispense with abusing the breaks and use a potion instead of its equivalent in magic, and give that use to another magic to cause damage, and if I had to attack melee I have done it and I have endured as I could, taking the wizard to the limit. I give you an example, the map where are the mercenaries that have besieged Concelhaut, in that map there are many groups of mercenaries, any of those groups, only one of them, is able to make you spend all your magic uses if you go early (with level too fair), I have gone there with level 12 with my wizard (SOLO, POTD of course), and I have cleaned the entire map with only 3 rests, the 2 that I had and another one that was in the area, all that map, clean with 3 rests, I have seen gameplays of people even going to buy more rests and use many more xD Everything is a matter of efficiency, to squeeze the most out of what each class offers, with Chanter I have done exactly the same, no more than 3 breaks on that map, or 2 breaks to clean the map of Caed Nua, exterior and interior, then have to go for another break to face Maerwal, but all the exterior and interior map, I have cleaned them with only 2 breaks, with chanter, with the wizard I needed 1 or 2 more breaks in that example hehe1 point
-
I don't know. Barbarian solo on PotD needs quite long to become good. I did an Ultimate with a Barb and is was more demanding than for example Wizard. I think I would try Wizard. Prepare to rest a lot.1 point
