  6. Content? I mean, if you create a set of custom characters, you will miss out on an awful lot of written content.

  7. I had been considering joining some sort of server (as if I needed an excuse for more building ;)), so I'm all for it. I had also been considering running one (been tinkering with a Docker image on and off as I don't want to install Wine, Steam, and co straight into the OS), though mostly to check out the differences between solo and dedicated because I'm not so sure my hardware could handle many people (but I have no idea how taxing the dedicated server is, so maybe it can host like a 10 slot server). Server settings would need to be discussed, I imagine. Like PvP or no, decay timers on things (eg. buildings, thralls), what is considered acceptable (blocking off resources spawns can be real nasty if there's no raiding). I mean, I know you're all real gentlemenbarbarians, of course, who'd never even consider such a thing...buuuut And, of course, which, if any, mods to run (which, I imagine, would depend on whether people are into PvP). I'd argue the game is not really balanced around single player, that's why the server options are wide open when playing solo, especially increasing either gather rates or decreasing resource costs are fair game imho (I think I have costs set to 25%, didn't touch gather rates), for solo I'd also turn off decay (but I'm Bob the Builder, so yeah, I might be biased) and bump up the speed of thrall job interviews. FWIW my current mod list (mostly the same from before): There's a few others I've been eyeing, like Emberlight (adds a lot of crafting and RP stuff) or the Glass building mod but I'd prefer to mess with those in a sandbox (or on a server) as I don't want to break my save in case they turn out gamebreaking or just not useful.

  8. Ohhh, I'd be so torn, I've just begun playing Elite Dangerous again and it's really timeconsuming.. But it'd be real nice to play some Conan too... Also, timezones ftl... ;_;

  9. I finished the final mission in the HITMAN bonus campaign. Nice clean run: I completed a bunch of challenges in that run, but the most important one, as always:

  10. The South didn't like the country so they tried to leave it PS and if I'm not mistaken one of the original plans for abolishing slavery was for them to leave the country afterwards

  11. So the US says is shot down an Iranian drone. Iran says we shot down out own drone? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2019/07/19/iran-disputes-trump-claim-u-s-navy-destroyed-its-drone/1775051001/ Who is right? Who cares for the moment. Just imagine this exchange: *Phone rings in the situation room* USAF General: "Mr. President I'm sorry to report the Iranians have shot down another one of our drones" President Trump: "Very well" *hangs up* *phone rings again* Navy Admiral: "Mr. President I'm please to report we just shot down an Iranian drone!"

  12. I seem to have about 400 hours played, I'm sure about 200 of that is character creation.

  13. Finally started playing, but I'm having trouble advancing because I decided to create two mercenaries while their are cheap and there goes a few more hours in character creation. lol

  14. Not really. Audience members have *always* gotten pissy about media putting forth a message that they didn't like. In the 30's and 40's audiences would get *REALLY* upset and angry about plays and movies that were about transgender themes, "loose" sexuality, communists, gay people, interracial relationships, drug use, criticism of religion, etc. Hell the first national organization dedicated explicitly to screaming their heads off about "objectionable content" was founded by religious folks in *1933*, and people were flipping their **** about belly buttons in the 1960's. ****, in the late 1990's there were staged protests over movies. This crap is why we had the Hays Code and the Comics Code Authority and all sorts of ****--because people have *always* flipped their **** over the content of media. Audiences have *always* wanted to force certain political, cultural, or religious messages into or out of film, comics, books, and yes now video games since it's become a mature industry. It's ****ty, but it's not new. Audience members have been trying to force story-tellers to include or exclude certain content forever.

  15. I think so. Although it is a pretty fast progression, and I believe you can set server rules to increase speed.

  17. I guess there are a bunch of different ways to parse "realistic scopes". If we're just taking about simulating the loss of peripheral vision as the character uses a long-range scope, sure. Black out the screen and minimize the HUD. I'd imagine reflex scopes would leave the UI relatively unchanged due to two-eyed use. But if this is just about scopes in general.... I say bring on the sci-fi weapons! The game is set 250 years in the future, in space, and on multiple planets. It would be immersion-breaking in a whole host of different ways if our space optics behaved in ways comparable to contemporary glass. Projectile vs. Energy Weapons, varying gravities and atmospheric densities; it would be hard for future weapons remain practical without some technological magic assisting the user. We're already on the leading edge of that with TrackingPoint, which automatically calculates range to estimate drop and drag. The future of scopes is already here, and it's got a colorful HUD... and wifi!

  18. Artistic integrity and freedom of speech have *never* been sacred in the entertainment industry. The federal government were involved in blacklisting "communists" back in the 40's and 50's and various cities, towns, and states have been suppressing films and other media right up through *today*.
