  1. Every time I try to enter the Byzantium maintenance tunnels the game crashes to desktop, with no error message, after finishing the loading screen. I've tried to enter the tunnels from the two entrances (by parcel service and acropolis) and it crashes in both cases. I am playing PC from the Epic Games Store. Windows 10 Nvidia GTX 1070 Game Version: Rell.2.0.418
  2. Because of the pinned thread: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/103029-issues-with-nvidia-graphics-cards/ Still a thing or fixed?
  3. Hi, The issues with Nvidia post was made in June of last year. Is Nvidia going to provide support for this product? I still have issues with a 1080 Ti even after the Special K patch. The issues are: 1. Alt-tabbing from Windowed mode, it often takes 1-2 minutes to alt-tab back into the game and often I can see the screen working behind other windows but it doesn't respond to mouse clicks and doesn't come to the front. 2. Choppy framerate issues. Even after following the recommended guide. 3. Huge load times even with SSD + 32Gb + i7-8700K I loved Pillars 1 but am really struggling to enjoy this game because of the technical issues. Is there still hope for seeing solutions for the high end Nvidia cards?
  4. I am having a problem when I cast Citzal's Spirit Lance that the lance itself does not appear but only, what looks like, an area where someone has taken a brush or eraser to the screen. https://imgur.com/gtQfnhh https://imgur.com/pUKaEEt DxDiag.txt
  5. Hi, I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 graphics card. I tried the settings in the post for the Nvidia cards (https://support.obsidian.net/article/35-frame-rate-issues-and-constant-crashing-with-nvidia-gfx-cards), but that didn't help. When the game gets started, my computer sounds much louder, like the hard drive is running extra hard or something. Then in a few short minutes my computer crashes and I need to reboot. I don't see any error logs in the Steam/steamapps/common/Pillars of Eternity II folder. I've played lots of games with no problems: PoE (original), Divinity, Divinity II, etc.. My grandson was playing League of Legends a couple of days ago for several hours (no problems). Is this an Nvidia issue or is it something else? I'm 69 years old (in a few days!) and I love RPG's. I really want to be able to play PoE II, but, if this keeps happening, I will have to ask for a refund on Steam. Many thanks for your help. - Andrea
  6. Good afternoon, Am experiencing a curious oddity of a crash. I've played through PoE before on my Toshiba laptop and had no real issues. However, I recently upgraded to a new (non-laptop) computer, and decided "you know, I think I want to replay PoE and import my character into PoE 2, now that it's out". I've a relatively new system, which includes a GeForce GTX 1060, a Realtek soundtrack, an obnoxious amount of RAM, and no idea why the game locks up. Naturally, I've updated my Nvidia and Real Tek drivers, and despite that the crashes still occur. Upon attempting to load the game, it gets as far as the initial encampment scene, and after wandering for a few minutes around the encampment, the game suddenly locks up. It doesn't BSOD me, it just...locks up. The audio continues to work - Justin Bell's double-fine tunes continue playing in the background despite everything freezing up like some kind of freaky flash mob. As per Obsidian protocol, I've attached my DXDiag text and the Output log. I've attempted to attach my most recent savegame, but am not being permitted to attach it to this message for reasons unclear to me. It would be lovely if someone could attend to this post and perhaps offer an email to which I could send the savegame, should they need it, as well as some advice around how to go about eliminating this issue. Thank you kindly in advance for your time and effort! Best, Ilya DxDiag.txt output_log.txt
  7. Hey peeps, will there be Nvidia Geforce Experience support for Deadfire?
  8. So, I've seen a few people discuss this in other threads, but not this exact issue. I'm not completely sure what the problem is here. Seems like a potential driver issue, but I'm not 100% on that. I have rolled my my nVidia drivers to see if that would stifle the issue, but nothing has seemed to help thus far. My current drivers are 397.64. I've made it to the character creation screen several times and every time, without fail, my game seems to crash. You can still hear the music looping, but both of my displays go black. This prompts me to do a hard reset because there is no other way to access my computer. Up until I've reached the character creation screen, everything seems to work like it should. I'm unable to upload a save file because I can't even save the game before this error occurs. Another weird fact about this, is after the hard reset, my resolution has changed to 640x480 (in black & white) and was unable to change it until I updated my computer (although I was already at the latest version of windows at the time). I'm genuinely puzzled as I've never had this issue on my computer playing any other game than PoE:II. I really would love to give this game a shot, but I can't get beyond the character creation screen. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! output_log.txt DxDiag.txt
  9. This is a call for the developers. But first an introduction: There is a bug with nvidia optimus technology on windows 10. It's pretty well documented and reported and pretty old. The details, along with investigation and a guide made by me can be found here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1008527/geforce-mobile-gpus/-guide-diagonal-screen-tearing-problems-with-optimus-nvidias-control-panel-not-working-like-it-should-need-a-fix-get-in-here/ In short, most unity games, and most games running with a Dx9 renderer, when played on a laptop with an nvidia card and windows 10 will get an awful diagonal screan tear. Yup, DIAGONAL. The easiest workaround is forcing the games to use dx11. Just try it yourself! Fire up Pillars of Eternity with vsync on (vsync have nothing to do with the bug, but deactivating it will make it pretty damn difficult to see without a trained eye... That and the tradicional horizontal tear will apear ). You will se that tear whenever you move, scroll the map or certain effects fire. Now force the game to use Dx11. BAM problem solved. Now try the same with Tyranny. The tearing is worse. Force Dx11: A pink screen. Let me also use this thread to ask: Why wasn't Dx11 implemented in Tyranny? It's a later game made by the same people and engine. What happened? Now the point of this thread should be pretty obvious! Will Deadfire come with a Dx11 option? If not, could you please reconsider? My laptop would be the best device to play the game because of it's screen, and also because of my lifestyle. (I say this before the inevitable "why are you gaming on a laptop anyway?" posts start to appear) Loving the advances of the game by the way! Great work <3
  10. Hi, Since upgrading to Windows 10, PoE has done nothing but crash. I’ve traced a problem back to the original OS install with an NVidia driver (the hideous day one driver issue that was well reported) issue and I thought I’d rectified that with a complete OS fresh install and the latest ISO of Windows 10, but the problem resurfaced again. My system is pretty respectable (System Config attached) and I think I’ve done everything reasonable to work out what is going on here. I played and completed the game in Windows 8.1 with no crashes or problems of any kind. I’ve looked in Steam folder and found some crash reports and I’ve attached one of those files too (Error Log output below). I really want to play this game again so if there is anything you can do to resolve or to point me in direction of what is causing crash I’d really appreciate it! When playing the game will load then after a few seconds the screen will freeze. Sound continues and I seem to be able to click on menu options although nothing moves on the screen. Then after a short time the game crashes to desktop. Thanks in advance Mark output_log.txt MySysConfig.txt
  11. Hello Everyone! I will explain how you can use NVidia driver activated FXAA (Anti Aliasing) with Pillars of Eternity. For this to work two things are necessary. 1. Activate FXAA in the NVidia driver panel. 2. Permanently deactivate MSAA in the game. Unfortunately this is as of now not possible with on board tools because MSAA always reverts back to its original state after you transitioned into another area or loaded a save game. However, there is a little tool called PoEKey available that automatically deactivates MSAA every time it is necessary. It achieves that by automatically executing a macro every time the game loads a new area. The tool is created by a friend of mine called XiDragon, a known modder for NWN 2 that created e.g. xUI. You can grab the tool HERE Only downfall so far is that the current version of PoEKey only supports screen resolutions of 1920x1080. But if you help the author XiDragon by providing specific screen shots of the game in your desired resolution, he will implement your resolution within no time. What he needs is two screen shots, one of the loading screen that shows in between loading areas and one from within the game that shows the GUI, both would be best in uncompressed BMP format. Fraps for example will be able to create those screen shots he needs. If you want you can upload screen shots here and I will then forward them to XiDragon. If you do so please state in the post for which resolution the screen shots are! So please help and support XiDragon so he will be able to implement whatever screen resolutions you desire! Why would you want to have driver activated FXAA activated in the first place you might ask? Simple, the game looks far better than without it! Unfortunately it is impossible to create screenshots that properly show the difference! This is because the missing anti aliasing is most obvious while the game is running and the characters are animated. And neither I nor my friend XiDragon have the time to create a proper video. So you either take my word for it or leave it be. Have Fun
  12. Hi.. I own an Eyefinity-System and I love playing games in huge resolutions (5780x1080). As a matter of fact, a game like Project Eterniy is not the typical type of game supporting huge resulitions because of the restrictions/size of maps/dungeons/whatever. Nonetheless a proper support of eyefinty(AMD)/Surround(Nvidia) with a centered UI and proper "zoom" would be a great plus to the game. Maybe it would be possible to use the both side monitors for maps/inventory etc.
  13. Hello, It seems that i have some weird glitches with my game - but with some specific steps completed. I'll break them down : Glitches Seems that if you enter the cinema, take a while ( for example the first time you stay and break all chairs ) then exit - and pass in front of the cashier - the graphics turn to weird glitches ( as i saw posted before ). But this seems to be the only way to trigger this - and it's every time ( 3rd play-through ). And i haven't encounter this anywhere else. Only way to 'fix' this is either loading an area, or restarting the game Flickering Begin while you're in a cutscene - pause - and alt-tab out of the game - do something ( not just alt-tab lightning speed Bruce Lee attack xD ) Return to the game and unpause it ; and you'll notice that characters begin to flicker - even completely disappear Again, reloading area/game seems to fix this Crash - rare / random Random - rare - crash issue after the defects above have occurred, but i think that multiple alt-tabs (in a normal way) do break the game. This happened to me , twice, once after i hit Exit Game ( crashing on desktop ) and other in-game. MINOR (more a question) I've noticed that Windows 7 schema turns to basic every time i run this game. And i think this might be the cause of some of the issues Is this intended or does it link with system config ? Here are my specs - laptop ! : CPU : Intel i3-2330M RAM : 6GB DDR3 GPU : Nvidia Optimus 540M - 2GB ( latest drivers ; also running on this and not Intel ) OS : Windows 7 x64 ( fully updated ) Play resolutions : 1366x768 ; 1920x1080 I ain't bothered by some of the above, this is more of a heads-up thing. Also wondering if crashing/windows scheme is from my end or if it occurs to most people. Have a great day! Cheers, Z
